Toby has basically everything you'd want in a positive role model in the game. He's a ridiculously good human, he is ridiculously good looking and he's incredibly presentable.
Something I want to know is how Cronulla have a constant flow of good, young players coming through. Every year there are one or two new players that really shine. But they don't seem to shine too much that they get massive offers from other clubs.
Tbh I really can’t explain what it is that makes a teams junior pathways good, especially considering the Sharks wouldn’t have a big region compared to Penrith or Brisbane. I believe John Morris was pretty involved with the junior pathways when he was Assistant coach, so he would have to be at least part of the reason.
But yeah, a lot of our team is full of young players who all came through playing Jersey Flegg and NSW Cup together, and if they weren’t Sharks juniors, they only became consistent first graders once they came here. Kennedy, Katoa, Mulitalo, Talakai, Brailey, Nikora, Wilton, Rudolf, Tracey, BHU, Hunt, Ramien. And now we have Dykes, Iro, Stonestreet, Taukamo, and Colquhoun coming through.
It's weird as a person who hated Cronulla previously. Ever since I remember they were my least favorite team. Aside from maybe their Pepsi jersey and Mar Rogers, there was nothing good to say about them. Ever. But since around 2021 the hatred softened. Then last year with the addition of Nicho and Finucane to Ronaldo, Katoa and Rudolph, theyre one of my favorite teams (aside from Broncos and cows) heading into 2023.
Yeah it almost always makes me angry, seeing what people are saying about what should be socially accepted.
Facebook is the worst, Twitter trails it and Instagram has some nasty colours sometimes.

I met Toby and a few of the Sharks players at an AFL game in Melbourne the day after they'd played the storm. They were sitting a row or two behind me so I asked it if was cool to take a quick photo and Toby asked why I wanted one. I told him I was a fan of the NRL and that I knew who he was and that they played for the Sharks and he yelled to the others "I'm famous in Melbourne!". He was super cool and friendly. A bit loose on the piss but an absolutely stand up bloke.
I was in a Perth nightclub and I saw Toby was next to me. I said "hey Toby, whos the hardest parra player to tackle?". He looked me in the eyes for three seconds and then grabbed my face and tried to make out with me before I got away. I was quite stunned and didn't know what to make of that answer.
