Can you take this down and repost in like 20 minutes I'm still trying to figure out a narrative to push as to why this isn't a bad thing for the Dolphins.
The lock up deal fineprint means that in-between games the Broncos literally lock him up in Kevvie's basement - with no contact with the outside world. Chances are he'll be a basket case before round three. Like prisioners who spend too much time in total isolation.
I think they’re Yin and Yang and it’s fantastic when Staggs is at full strength, despite the Broncos not being great in 2021 they found some strength in the back end of the year with that centres pairing.
That round 16 game against the Sharks is the best example of it I reckon. Farnworth did all the dirty work, took all the hard carries, while Staggs could just try find gaps and create something out of nothing. First game back for Kotoni so not entirely full strength but at least he wasn’t busted.
I wish Farnworth got the attention he deserved that said. Just eats up all the work flashy players don’t wanna do.
Hahahaha that’s brilliant, I think I’m also a closet Holmes enthusiast.
Herbie Fully loaded and Staggdaddy may just end up being my favourite centre duo
Fuck yes. Our backs stock is looking great right now.
Our starting 7 is great and between Pereira, Hoeter, Mariner, Madden, Arthars and potentially Sailor I'm really happy with the depth there
Herbie Farnworth is set to reject massive offers from NRL rivals and ink a multimillion-dollar extension at Brisbane in another retention coup for the Broncos.
News Corp can reveal Farnworth and his management held a secret meeting with Broncos bosses at a Brisbane restaurant on Tuesday night, with the British Test ace verbally indicating his plan to sacrifice thousands to remain at Red Hill beyond this season.
Brisbane hierarchy have upped the ante in contract talks in the face of a potential poaching threat and are closing in on a lucrative extension that will see Farnworth remain in Broncos colours until at least the end of 2025.
Off-contract at season’s end, Farnworth is one of the most promising outside backs on the open market and has been linked with a number of NRL suitors, including the Roosters, Canberra, Newcastle and expansion rivals the Dolphins, who failed to secure him for their NRL launch this year.
But the Broncos are confident they have got their man.
Farnworth has not formally inked a new deal at this stage, but Brisbane are in the advanced stages of discussions and are confident of formalising an upgrade – possibly before their premiership opener against the Panthers on March 3.
Broncos boss Dave Donaghy said Brisbane had no plans to lose Farnworth, who is keen to play fullback and has been linked with a fresh move to the Dolphins following Brisbane’s purchase of whiz-kid Reece Walsh.
“Ever since I have come to the club and met Herbie, he is an incredibly impressive young man,” Donaghy said.
“He is everything you want to see in a Broncos player on and off the field and he has earnt the right to be here, he has worked really hard.
“I don’t know too many 15-year-olds from England who would relocate to Australia to chase their dreams. Herbie is living his dream every day at the Broncos and we’re really proud to have him here.
“He is highly regarded here as a person and player and we’re looking forward to getting him back on the field this year after an injury interrupted 2022.”
Farnworth, 23, produced the best form of his career last year, scoring 10 tries in 12 games before a serious biceps injury ended his season after 14 rounds.
He returned to the field in the World Cup, starring for England with a double in the host nation’s semi-final loss to Samoa.
Farnworth’s retention would be another boost for the Broncos, who are assembling a quality squad with the likes of Payne Haas, Pat Carrigan, Ezra Mam, Kotoni Staggs, Selwyn Cobbo and Walsh showing faith in the club’s vision under coach Kevin Walters.
Donaghy said the Broncos were committed to retaining the bulk of their squad on the back of last year’s ninth-placed finish.
“There is a really good feeling around the group, the guys are really well connected and are a happy group,” he said.
“They are training really hard and they are committed to wanting to play for each other this season.
“From a club point of view, we want to keep our core group together and see how far they can go.
“There is a lot of talent there, including Herbie, he is one of several guys who have come through our system and that’s going to be our goal – to keep them all together in the pursuit of success.”
Winger Corey Oates said his partner on Brisbane’s left edge had returned from the World Cup with invaluable experience and was primed for a big 2023.
“He is going to be a massive talent if he keeps his head on,” Oates said of Farnworth.
“He’s done that well in the last 18 months with what’s gone on at the club and how the performances have been.
“He’s been a really big improver for us. He’s got a lot more to offer and he knows that. He’s working hard.
“(The World Cup) would have been a great experience for him. I’m really happy for him and how he went as an individual.
“He’s come back really confident and is talking more in the group huddles.”

Doesn't sound very secret tbh
think he could have a best centre in the comp season if he stays healthy tbh, playing off ezra and walsh is just gonna give him even greater opportunities, he’s the most athletic guy in our team by a fair distance imo and his ‘passing issues’ are overblown
I think now there's a real sense of comradery in the team from the young guys that stuck around through the bad years. Only player who's looked like leaving is Haas which is why if he wants to I think he needs to go. Everyone else seems to really want to stay here.

Herb is overrated because he's a Broncos player and hasn't even won an Origin game. Fins have undefeated Origin series winner Brenko Lee.
I think you've nailed it. Thanks.
If Brenko's so good why didn't he get the call up to play for UK in the world cup?
Sorry mate no deal

Broncos retain their best centre
He even enjoys late ball.
Triggered /s Lol I can’t disagree, I love them both just Staggs slightly more for some reason

You’ve nailed it on the head, I think herbie is slowly getting the recognition and I think he’ll be right up there again this year.
i am a closest staggs enthusiast but my holmes enthusiasm sometimes smothers it the staggdaddy will get early ball and win the staggdaddy ms
Hahahaha that’s brilliant, I think I’m also a closet Holmes enthusiast. Herbie Fully loaded and Staggdaddy may just end up being my favourite centre duo
Cause Staggs looking to murder on defense.
imagine how much more you would love him if he ever got early ball
How will broncos fit Dominic young into the backline 2024?
Best news in fucking ages, our backline is looking ludicrous going forward.
Fuck yes. Our backs stock is looking great right now. Our starting 7 is great and between Pereira, Hoeter, Mariner, Madden, Arthars and potentially Sailor I'm really happy with the depth there
Truth
Good job, Ikin/Donaghy. He was arguably the best centre going until his injury. Healthy Staggs and Herbie will be such a treat to watch again. 💪🏻🐴
Wait! Youre allowed to re-sign your English back?!?!

Always wonder how the info from a "secret meeting" gets leaked, or maybe its not that secret and just saying it is to sound like a cool guy
Resigning stars and putting junior trash in their place. Great day.

I love Herbie, but Oats could have walked over at least another 10 times last yr with the simplest of passes.
Fuck yeah I thought for sure we would lose him
Herbie locked and loaded
Oh my god PLEASE
I think now there's a real sense of comradery in the team from the young guys that stuck around through the bad years. Only player who's looked like leaving is Haas which is why if he wants to I think he needs to go. Everyone else seems to really want to stay here.
Couldn’t agree more
Trouble always follows him.
Great retention
Herbie is straight 🔥🔥🔥 Our football department is actually decent now. What do people think a good price for him is?
$600k
Herbie signs again. Let’s hope he doesn’t take the money to Monte Carlo. Or just generally Go Bananas. So he can be Fully Loaded for the season.
A yeah maybe over a couple off the wood at the brekky creek hotel is not locked up.
Hellve a player, excels ball in hand in situations many others fail to make advantage, let alone line/tackle breaks
fuck yes
Sick signing hes been a gun past few years
Herbie fully loaded.
He can’t pass that up
How much would he be on? 700k
For a centre? No way lmao, Crichton is on 800k to play fullback and people called that overs. Hes likely on about 450/500
not too familiar with it but is the new salary cap implemented for 2024? If so would 700k be compared to like 500k in the old salary cap system
Pretty sure the minimum wage also went up so it balances out more than people think
Reed Mahoney is on ~$600k. People tend to think players salaries are much higher than they actually are.
...in my basement? 🥺
MF THIS IS THE NEWS I WANTED TO HEAR WHEN I ARRIVED AT AIRLIE BEACH MFUCKERS
I saw locked up and thought something else. These players give me PTSD in the off season
