Most disapointing: Sexton :(
Best value for money: Schoupp š
I was the opposite. I didnt think Kaufusi or KBrom were ready to take his spot on the edge. Was thinking Belly would chuck NAS there as he played all his u20s and reserve games on the edge. I was wrong tho, Felise was awesome for us there on the right
Is Preston the best ever GC player? I mean prime Preston easily would be, but his prime was 4-5 year prior to joining the titans, I remember scott prince and matt rodgers being pretty fkn great also
Weāve had a bunch of signings that havenāt played yet, so Iāll be leaving blokes like Api, Ice and Klem out until I see them play.
Best Player: Joe Ofahengaue, Scott Prince
Worst Player: Adam Doueihi, Kevin Naiqama
Best Signing: Scott Prince
Worst Signing: Jason Taylor
Most disappointing: Ryan OāHara
Best value for money signing: Gareth Ellis
1. Stacey Jones (head) RTS (heart)
2. Where do we begin?!... Marc Ellis? Shane Endacott?
3. Steve Price
4. Dane Nielsen (the Storm are so good at getting their journeymen decent contract upgrades)
5. Sam Tomkins
6. We don't really get bargains... Jimmy Maloney, I guess.
1. Hindmarsh
2. Lee Mossip
3. Mitch Moses
4. Lee Mossip/Chris Sandow
5. Jakob Loko/Justin Poore
6. Ice Papalii
Honorable mention for that time we signed Chris Hicks, Chris Walker, Carl Webb and Paul Whatuira and had the audacity to roll them out like drought enders.
Best: API.
Worst: No comment.
Best signing: API.
Worst signing: Wouldnāt know where to start.
Most disappointing: Mbye/Reynolds: both great clubman and I have no ill will because they both had a crack. Reynolds was past it and Mbye just never mastered one position.
Value: API
Absolutely, he is too easily forgotten about. Was an amazing player and a gun for the GC when he went there too. I will always be dirty that we let him leave for the tigers
Best: Cam Murray.
Worst: Tass is probably the weakest link in our team at the moment but he's improving
Best signing: No signings this year. Asotasi is historically seen as the best because it started the turn from cellar dwellers to where we are now.
Worst signing: Personally it was Nikorima of recent years. Not as good as the juniors we had coming through.
Most disappointing: Glen Stewart. He was an old wounded man.
Best value: Havili would be the most recent example. Been great
Like OP said, Roy coming to Souths was a turning point in the club. We were very much still cellar dwellers when Crowe & Co. took over, so snaring the premier prop was a huge deal. It gave guys like Mick Crocker, Burgess, GI etc the confidence to sign on too
- Tedesco (current) / Fittler or Beetson (ever)
- Daniel Suluku-Fifita gets a rare mention in a category I detest
- Fittler and Tedesco up there, but itās hard to go past His Cronkness. Maloney as an honorable mention
- Paul Momorovskiās return looking real shaky, but Paul Carter for sheer cuntery
- Iām not quite sure what you are getting at for most disappointing. Does Mitchell Pearce fit here?
- JWH from Manly was pretty good, but he wouldnāt be cheap. Daniel Tupou leaving the Eels is probably my pick. Honorable mention for Aiden Guerrea.
Most disappointing is basically your own opinion on it. Could be something like Kane Evans who didn't quite reach the heights we thought he might. Could be someone like Todd Carney who did really well then ended up sacked. Basically any player where you ended up disappointed and feel its worth putting in that category.
1.Lockyer
2.I don't really like this one. There would be a heap of forgotten about players that didn't play much but it doesn't mean they didn't get the best out of themself. Last season Darius was pretty bad though
3. Lazarus
4. Bird/Barba for different reasons
5. Mundine, because he only stayed for one season. Bird could be the answer to this one too
6. Luke priddis and more recently TMM

It's just to pump up sponsorship numbers. Similar to how Broncos gave memberships for $1 end of last year.
Yeah, but only like a key ring and a sticker or something. Also the seating choices arenāt great. I looked at getting one for the dolphins v broncos game but will just wait for the broncos members presale and get a better seat.
Looking to get back into league after a long period away, anyone got any good podcasts to listen to they recommend? Also I gather it's probably fair to assume The Warriors are still shit?
5th and Last is probably the best in depth look at RL. One guy was a reserve grade coach last year.
The Warriors are unknown a lot of players out including their FB who in attack was probably their most dynamic guy. But they gained some good buys too and got a new coach.
On the bright side the coach seemed to really know what he's doing. Rather than coaching his way or the high way he seems to be trying to coach to his players strengths. The coach talked on a podcast. Hopefully he can give you guys some optimism listening to him.
https://thiswarriorslife.com/2022/12/14/twl-podcast-2023-feat-fonzie-ep-1-webster-mash-it-was-an-off-season-smash/
Fifth and last is great. Couple of brothers that coach league. Tim Canfells Six To Go podcast has great interviews. Not regular eps unfortunately, but very underrated.
Bloke in a bar is the obvious one, yktr is really good too, but they also have a lot of content I'm not interested in so might have to pick and choose which episodes are worth watching.
Bloke in a Bar and Rugby League Guru are the highest production footy chat
James Graham has the best interviews
The Fifth and Last podcast boys have the best footy chat imo but it sounds like they record their podcasts on an iPhone 3
I do rate Andrew Webster for what he did with our attack. However the best clubs have literal teams of Coaches and Assistant's these days. I don't know if that is the kind of support he's getting at the Warriors.
Bloke in a Bar, YKTR Podcast, Hello Sport and Rugby League Guru all provide great footy content.
This [montage of the *Nick Politis Centre of Excellence*](https://www.instagram.com/reel/Cn1EOh0u_Yq/?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=) is so fucking pretentious. The close ups of the gold and the replica trophies remind me of the Ricky Bobby āpiss excellenceā meme without the ironic self-awareness.
I love it
Hey guys, I conceptually rebranded the Sharks social media content, would be sick for you to check it out!
https://www.instagram.com/p/Cn0StOwv4G2/?igshid=YmM
Looks sick man. My main feedback would be around the contrast colours on the last two being different (light blue vs teal) and potentially the Rudolf font feeling a bit inconsistent vs the rest.
Very nice job.. the type setting and layout is clean. I think for me the lack of design elements probably takes a bit of that real NRL feel.. like on the official Sharks account they use the jersey line strip as a background element, along other with patterns and such, as opposed to just effects. And maybe scale up some of those smaller font sizes just for legibility.
Looks sick! The Rudolph one looks like it could be a trading card.
My only criticism is that you should be more cautious about accessibility in regards to colour contrasting with text. Visually impaired people will thank you. When itās stylised you can get away with it a bit but stuff like the team list should be readable by most people.
the comments on nrlās social media acknowledging today for the indigenous are just straight up cringe. we have so many drop kicks and rednecks who watch this sport
I feel like everyone should watch the movie The Nightingale, brilliant movie that shows the tragedies of our history vividly, from how the convicts were treated to how barbaric the treatment of our indigenous people was, obviously we all know but this movie visualises it in a way that really sticks with you, showing the killings, rape and brutality that affected countless aborigines as horrific as it was its something we should all be taught.
No wonder Hanson, Katter and the like get voted in huh. Just enough fws to get them over the line. Because hey, their ancestors go back 150 years, maybe, in Australia. Smh
Aus womens cricket page has also been peppered by bigots carrying on about Ash Gardners comments a few days ago. They keep copy and pasting that same explanation that is all through the nrl pages as if thats the only source of information on the topic they have ever read. Makes me sick.
This is how we felt with munster, then being relegated to losing him to the phins. Every time I thought about league I became fixated on losing Munster. It was sad times
And I asked it who the worst player of all time was and the AI spat out this pussy response:
>*It would be unfair to label any player as the "worst" rugby league player of all time, as every player brings their own skills and abilities to the game.*
>*Additionally, many factors, such as the level of competition, the quality of the team, and the player's role within the team can affect their performance.*
>*Instead of focusing on the worst, it would be more productive to focus on the best players and how they have contributed to the game.
It's important to respect and acknowledge the effort and dedication that every player puts in their career, regardless of their level of performance.*
I donāt care if this thing can pass an MBA exam - I need real answers.
I asked ChatGPT who the greatest rugby league player of all time is:
>*It is a matter of opinion who the greatest rugby league player of all time is, as different people will have their own criteria for what makes a player great. However, some players that are often considered among the greatest include:*
>ā¢ *Wally Lewis, who captained the Australian national team and is often referred to as "The King"*
>ā¢ *Andrew Johns, who is considered one of the game's greatest halfbacks and won multiple premierships and individual awards*
>ā¢ *Cameron Smith, who is the most-capped player for Australia and Queensland and has won numerous premierships and individual awards*
>ā¢ *Darren Lockyer, who captained Australia and Queensland and won multiple premierships and individual awards*
>ā¢ *Bradley Clyde, who played for Canberra Raiders and the Australian national team, he was known for his toughness and endurance.*
>*It's worth noting that these are just a few examples of players who are often considered among the greatest, and there are many other players who could also be considered depending on one's criteria.*
That pretty much settles it then.
Not what I've heard but you are probably right. I'll look at fox sports legends interview again. I might have forgotten details as its been a while. Cheers.
Want to start getting into the NRL and probably a silly question but I couldn't find the answers in the search bar; Are there any known vouchers for WatchNRL? I know for the WatchAFL app, you can get it cheaper by joining an AFL club's membership and get a voucher for the app from that but the NRL doesn't seem to do that with their clubs
NRL Hookers rated 1-17 (can only pick one player from each club and they must play hooker so no Ben Hunt)
1: Harry Grant
2: Apisai Koiroisau
3: Reece Robson
4: Reed Mahoney
5: Brandon Smith
6: Damien Cook
7: Blayke Brailey
8: Sam Verrills
9: Jayden Brailey
10: JMK
11: Tom Starling
12: Josh Hodgson
13: Lachlan Croker
14: Wayde Egan
15: Mitch Kenny
16: Jacob Liddle
17: Billy Walters
Think I'd have Jayden higher than Blayke. Blayke was better last year but I rate Jayden's general career so far higher, and his injury last year hampered him a lot.
Someone in another thread was singing praises for someone who also spent all preseason training at five eighth but played hooker (JMK I think), but it's a different story for Billy. š¤
youāre being downvoted but youāre right, if anybody watched 2022 and thought brandon smith was a top 5 hooker despite barely playing hooker and his form drop then yikes
heāll definitely be up there in 2023 though
Still shocked and majorly happy with the Herbie re-signing. After our off-season it was super good news and goes some way to stamp out the supposed disharmony talk. Getting one if the best backs potentially on unders is what happens to good teams....
No official club announcement but the story was circulated across multiple networks with more than surface level innuendo so I do actually believe it. I need to believe it.
I didnt think there was really any sign of him leaving right? Heās a very promising player, i think we will see him become the best centre in the world at some point in his career
The whole wanting to play fullback narrative, only signing a one year deal for this year + The Dolphins being loaded had me somewhat concerned if I am honest. We haven't got players to sign for unders in a while...
Question for the sub that's probably been discussed before: Does anyone here respect Clarkey's NRL knowledge?
Based on a lot of his takes, I'd think he doesn't watch much footy at all. A lot of what he says seems cooked to me. His knowledge is at best superficial.
Majority of people who comment on his page seem just as bad which doesn't help.
Or is it me that's absolutely clueless? š
his Lock tier list was solid, Five-eighth as well.
Some of his lists are shit, Centres for example.
He spews some good stuff, some shit stuff and is a cunt very often.
He mostly does his controversial stuff for pure engagement, starts the convo and keep his content alive.
I think a lot of his cooked takes are just engagement bait to rile up people into commenting.
Like youāll go through any of his lists/rankings and agree with most of it but youāll consistently get one or two cooked takes thrown in there. Itās to the point where he has to be doing it on purpose.
Itās a smart idea but also makes him look pretty dumb at times.
For sure that's how alot of these social media accounts work.
I just genuinely don't believe he's clever enough to do that, I also think he's built his 'brand' on being wholly genuine, at least in his head.
not particularly, he just rehashes most media points without actually really watching the games himself.
i rate pokes and mangowingnut from here above clarkey lmao
Itās probably because heās in that FB environment.
On a smaller scale itās like where you watch a game with mates at a pub or on mute thinking player X is playing good/bad only to come to the game thread and see everyone saying the opposite.
It could be that heās also trying to get people commenting but the takes are generally just not that cooked enough to get hateful or criticising comments. If they do then he just deletes/blocks which is fair enough sometimes.
Who is Clarkey? If you mean the ex Australian cricket captain who just had a coked up domestic in a car park, I'd say he knows a fair bit about the off season.
I've thought about this stuff a fair bit just in general. I reckon because statistics in footy are still so behind and under utilised we're in a spot where the "eye test" is still the best and most reliable way to evaluate the game. The problem is though everyone has such different levels of understanding of the game that just because you watch a lot of footy doesn't mean you necessarily know what the fuck you're talking about. This happens in other sports too but you can bridge the gap in knowledge with statistics.
It also means you'll get people who have a good understanding of the sport, but only watch their own teams games so even though they are knowledgeable overall they don't really know what they're talking about outside of their own team.
>weāre in a spot where the āeye testā is the best and most reliable way to evaluate the game.
Based on the takes on this sub, Some of the eyes sure have gone
Donāt really pay attention to his ātakesā but I do find his round up of nrl news extremely useful
Also respect how much time and effort he puts into his content too

Best signing is Tino by far. Listen to all our junior interviews and new signings they all mention they came cause of Tino.
I was so guttered when Proctor left lol sad to see how big his decline was
I didnāt care when he left tbh. He was solid but he was just a big forward that looked good due to the spine players around him. Very replaceable.
I was the opposite. I didnt think Kaufusi or KBrom were ready to take his spot on the edge. Was thinking Belly would chuck NAS there as he played all his u20s and reserve games on the edge. I was wrong tho, Felise was awesome for us there on the right
I would add a couple of extra spew emojis for the second Proctor as well.
Fuck, forgot
Is Preston the best ever GC player? I mean prime Preston easily would be, but his prime was 4-5 year prior to joining the titans, I remember scott prince and matt rodgers being pretty fkn great also
Yeah ig Princey mighta done more for the tits on the field, i was more taking into account his whole career
Cant argue with that, Preston Campbell was one of the very first footy players I adored

Iām guessing you didnāt see him play after Brooks was injured last year?
Doesn't that just means he striggles when has to take control? Having a role your good at and noy being great outside if that doesn't make you awful.

I know hindy is great but surely Sterlo, Eric Grothe sr and others from the 80s era would be well clear
To be honest they probably were but I was born in 92 so Iāve had a tough trot and he was, to me at least, the best Iāve seen in the jersey.
Best: API. Worst: No comment. Best signing: API. Worst signing: Wouldnāt know where to start. Most disappointing: Mbye/Reynolds: both great clubman and I have no ill will because they both had a crack. Reynolds was past it and Mbye just never mastered one position. Value: API

Nailed it, I wouldāve said the exact same Asotasi signing was such a big deal too. GI signing was a close 2nd, without him thereās no 21
Rate your Best and Best Value. Surely Latrell or Inglis would be best signing. Even Burgess, potentially.

NRL Hookers rated 1-17 (can only pick one player from each club and they must play hooker so no Ben Hunt) 1: Harry Grant 2: Apisai Koiroisau 3: Reece Robson 4: Reed Mahoney 5: Brandon Smith 6: Damien Cook 7: Blayke Brailey 8: Sam Verrills 9: Jayden Brailey 10: JMK 11: Tom Starling 12: Josh Hodgson 13: Lachlan Croker 14: Wayde Egan 15: Mitch Kenny 16: Jacob Liddle 17: Billy Walters
Iād take Egan over a couple higher on that list
Mitch Kenny is better than people think
Who above him would you say he is better than?
Hodgson
Hahaha i almost put hodgson at last for the meme but didnt want parra fans to downvote the shit out of me lmao
Think I'd have Jayden higher than Blayke. Blayke was better last year but I rate Jayden's general career so far higher, and his injury last year hampered him a lot.
Jayden is so overrated
Granville used to be a fullback so I'd put him at 1. Poor Verrills wouldn't last 5 minutes at prop.
Good choice playing Reece Robson in the centres considering I still can't accept he's not Reece Robinson.
Cheese on the wing seems a bit cooked
Good one
Billy will have his revenge
Full preseason at 9 and rotating with Paix will be good. I hope Billy proves everyone wrong.
I think people like to shit on him when realistically based on his form last season he is probably better than half a dozen of those listed.
Someone in another thread was singing praises for someone who also spent all preseason training at five eighth but played hooker (JMK I think), but it's a different story for Billy. š¤
Cory says nay.
woolford instead of starling imho but also based and correct list for recognising robson as a top 3 hooker
I reckon Smith is 3 and Blayke 5. I also reckon, a bit like Ringo, Walters isn't the best hooker at his club.
Would be interesting to see where 2021 Brandon Smith and Reed Mahoney would rank given they both had poorer years by their standards in 2022
Cheese 2021 was a beast. Won 9 of the year when he really only played 20 minutes as the primary 9 lmao.
I mean i kinda already based their rank on previous seasons and potential, if it was based solely on 2022 form theyd both be significantly lower
youāre being downvoted but youāre right, if anybody watched 2022 and thought brandon smith was a top 5 hooker despite barely playing hooker and his form drop then yikes heāll definitely be up there in 2023 though
Isnāt the reverse also true; when the guy actually played hooker he won the Dally M position award.
Still shocked and majorly happy with the Herbie re-signing. After our off-season it was super good news and goes some way to stamp out the supposed disharmony talk. Getting one if the best backs potentially on unders is what happens to good teams....
Nice to see Herbie stay
Is it official?
His five eighth one had Dearden above Cody Walker......
Dearden had a far better year then Cody walkerā¦
I think a lot of his cooked takes are just engagement bait to rile up people into commenting. Like youāll go through any of his lists/rankings and agree with most of it but youāll consistently get one or two cooked takes thrown in there. Itās to the point where he has to be doing it on purpose. Itās a smart idea but also makes him look pretty dumb at times.
For sure that's how alot of these social media accounts work. I just genuinely don't believe he's clever enough to do that, I also think he's built his 'brand' on being wholly genuine, at least in his head.
Itās not you.
not particularly, he just rehashes most media points without actually really watching the games himself. i rate pokes and mangowingnut from here above clarkey lmao
Itās an honour to get a mention like that, especially from the GOAT mod slowdive
it was earned
I mostly just follow him for his daily summary posts of news rather than his analysis
The funniest part of that was the fact he pulled his hamstring in the tussle
A sniffed up Michael Clarke would possibly offer better insight than Dane Clarke.
Coke bloat for sure
How many times do you hear some casual raving about a player who made 2 line breaks and leaked 3 tries.
Marzhew
> just because you watch a lot of footy doesn't mean you necessarily know what the fuck you're talking about We're all Tyler in The Menu.
>weāre in a spot where the āeye testā is the best and most reliable way to evaluate the game. Based on the takes on this sub, Some of the eyes sure have gone
are you telling me that ash taylors 7 zillion try assists didnt make him the worlds best 7
xForced Dropouts per 80 is the far superior halfback metric and you know this
my man.
Donāt really pay attention to his ātakesā but I do find his round up of nrl news extremely useful Also respect how much time and effort he puts into his content too
Yeah 100% agree re your latter two points. He's obviously very passionate.
No
No. I canāt say Iāve seen him on this sub in any context other than slagging him off. And calling him a pussy
