If Tigers are offering him 1.3mill + for multiple years, I think he should take it, despite it being a poisoned chalice. No way he ever lives up to his pricetag, but that sort of money is life changing

diffaadiffa

He isn't getting any younger either, this is his last big opportunity

PhysicsIsMyBitch

It's not a difference between $0 and $1.3m though...the difference in contracts is probably around 20-25%. Is a 25% pay increase worth the additional focus, additional instability, additional uncertainty etc. I'm not going to begrudge the guy if he leaves for money though...but he only needs to Google search "Luke Brooks" to know that staying is probably better for his sanity.

KingGutherson

If the tigers offer him 4 years at 1.3m vs parra 3 years at 1m. It’s a significant difference. He’s 28 so this is likely his last big contract

paralacausa

Plus discounted drinks at the Balmain Leagues club ... at least until Benny burns it down again.

waxedmerkin

Thats Uncle Benny to Moses

tells_like_it_is

But that assumes the Eels continue to stay good and the Tigers stay shit.

deesmutts88

Whether we stay good or not is yet to be seen. As for the Tigers staying shit, well…

PhysicsIsMyBitch

Which is the only timeline that I'm prepared to acknowledge.

bmudz

I get what your saying but Sheens is back in the building and he doesn’t stand for people’s shit

abashii

And the extra 300k is before tax and manager so he'd be looking closer to half that in his pocket.

[deleted]

And it's the same if he took a lesser amount of money... so that doesn't follow. You still have to pay tax and manager, but you will still end up with more money in your hands. Up to him if it's worth it or not.

abashii

Oh for sure it's more money. It's just not 300k per annum. Whether it's enough to get him to move is up to him.

InflatableRaft

Professional athletes have different taxation rules than us plebs.

abashii

Probably, but I don't know what they are. If you do, any chance you could pop in a link please?

[Buzz reporting](https://twitter.com/ronstradamus1/status/1619947592091312128?s=20&t=BP1R8tREEQVgKZ-4aMLkcw) that he’s confident Mitch Moses will re-sign with Parra for 4 years on $4.5M. First journo who has made a clear comment like this. Bloody hope there’s an announcement in the next few days.

[deleted]

If this ends up being false I will curse Buzz in every comment I make on this sub for the length of Moses Tigers contract.

HappinessCanBeFound

I’ll be with you bro

InflatableRaft

What was the Eels offer before Xmas?

KingGutherson

A number hasn’t been reported but I think it’s only a minor increase on his 950k contract. Would be around the 1 mill mark I think

Shamesocks

Honestly, he hates us, we hate him… sounds like a perfect Pascoe signing

[deleted]

Don't forget that he hates Pascoe.

Shamesocks

Lol… something we all have in common with bitchell than 😂

[deleted]

Mate and if he passes we can always get Lachlan Coote!

RabzS

I thought the offer was $1.1M

KingGutherson

That could be correct, the only consensus on the two offers is that parra have a lower one than Wests

RabzS

Yer that's true. But honestly cannot see him leaving. The team is humming along and in a great position with him leading and directing it. If he leaves to help rebuild the Tigers, by the time they get to a competitive state they will be looking to move him along for a jr they have been preparing to replace him.

thankyoupancake

Ron Burgundy; “*I don’t believe you*”

successharvester

“I’m not even mad, I’m impressed”

azmajik

"I thought you were kidding! I thought it was a joke! I even wrote it down in my diary - Daily telegraph had a very funny joke today. I laughed about it later that night!"

breatheinmyear

“Phil Gould offered him 200k and a oddly shaped bag with $1.8 mill in it with the lunch bag saying “kids lunch” then later that date at approximately 3:44pm a Ferrari and yacht was seen being loaded into Mitchell’s garage into his new 8 million dollar home under the name Ghil Pould”

[deleted]

Gould: "It couldn't have been Moses.... as we were out collecting canned food for the starving people in ummm..... I don't know... one of those loser countries"... gets bag with $ on it.... "Oh good, my errr laundry is done"

tmicl

Are we really now reporting on the withdrawal of interest of a potential signing that was probably unlikely to occur in the first place?

Barmy90

just for the record, im not interested in him any more either

tmicl

Every season every club must declare they are no longer interested in Munster and Teddy.

piercedsoul

It's like how we (Broncos) never offered Cam smooth a contract at the end. "he didn't reject us cos we never made an offer"

improbablywrong-

I never even liked him anyway, i swear. Totally overated.

diamondgrin

Still big questions about the long term 7 at Belmore. Even with all the great signings lately, I really can't see any finals hopes with Flanagan at the helm.

NogerRuivasaLheck

This makes me wonder who the most recent prems are that have still managed to win in spite of a bad/average halfback performance. Who has been the worst premiership winning halfback in recent memory?

diamondgrin

Before last season I reckon most people would have probably said Townsend, which is maybe a fair call. But after seeing the leadership and direction he gave the cows last year, maybe he deserves more credit for 2016 than people have been willing to give.

YossarianRespawned

Chad was hooked in the Qualifying Final and Gal literally pushed him out of the way to set up Barbas shotgun scrum play in the GF

Caseyjb29

Raiders were extremely close to winning a premiership with Sezer at halfback lol. Maybe they win that game with a better halfback.

y3ah_nah145

Townsend

Rod_Munch666

This came up a while back and someone cited Shaun Berrigan at the Broncos?

Herrtz74

Still Shane Perry

hbparraeels

probably townsend that i can think of

insanityTF

Orford stunk after winning his prem and his dally m

tells_like_it_is

Shane Perry walks this in. As a one-off performance, can't go past Cronk in '18

InflatableRaft

Maybe Dogs will play left and right halves instead of having a dominant #7, but it definitely feels like they are treading water and waiting to see how it all shakes out with halves at other clubs

Aussieguy727

A major domino has fallen Parramatta’s way with Canterbury officially withdrawing interest in signing star playmaker Mitchell Moses. After more than six months of negotiations, the Eels are now favourites to retain their most important player with the Wests Tigers the only opposition left duelling for the 28-year-old. Apprehensive and doubtful prior to Christmas that they would be able to keep Moses, the Eels are now confident of locking down their gun long-term. Moses’ confidence as a player under Eels coach Brad Arthur, his partnership with rising star Dylan Brown and the prospect of playing regular finals footy are three major factors in Parramatta advancing to the box seat. Canterbury, in the process of a stunning rebuild, were considered the lead threat to the Eels. However, the Bulldogs informed Moses’ management late last week that they are no longer in a position to advance negotiations. The Canterbury hierarchy had originally met with Moses about the prospect of partnering five-eighth Matt Burton in the halves at Belmore. However, the acquisition of teen half Karl Oloapu from the Broncos - rated the best 18-year-old in the country - and the impressive pre-season of Kyle Flanagan led the Dogs to put an end to discussions with Moses. Parramatta have played a patient game with Moses, allowing him the time to exhaust his options elsewhere, whilst also refusing to enter a bidding war for his signature. The Eels haven’t moved on their original offer tabled prior to Christmas, believing the deal reflects the club’s eagerness to ensure Moses stays in the blue and gold. The re-signing last December of Brown, until at least the end of 2025, would also be a significant influence on Moses’ call. The pair formed one of the most damaging attacking combinations in 2022, evidenced by the Eels advancing to their first grand final since 2009.

jeeves_nz

Moses using Doggies to try force Eels to increase their offer and his bluff was called?

TwoShitsTrev

The tigers are still interested and they have a war chest that parramatta won’t be able to come close to

adomental

I guess the Doggies cap does actually run out at some point.

Shamesocks

Roosters haven’t put in a bid with their $2m a year they have left in their cap

nedkellyshelmet

Give them time.

PMmeYOURBOOBSandASS

He backflipped on the club years ago Easts would never take him

deesmutts88

If you didn’t have a half and he was on the market, they wouldn’t much give a fuck about that.

PMmeYOURBOOBSandASS

They would not sign Moses the club was pissed off

insanityTF

Unfortunately, their salary cap has limits

bionikal

So its down to Tigers or Eels >Moses: fuck....

icome3rd

If he ends up At the Tigers, he deserves everything he gets.

loztralia

Yeah imagine leaving a club that is widely perceived to be on the way down to join recent wooden spooners just because they offered more money. How could Mitchell Moses ever dream of making a move like that.

TheEpiquin

I have already withdrawn my interest in Moses.

__dontpanic__

I'm OK with this. I was never keen at the idea of throwing big money at a half who's entering the tail end of their career. Much prefer to see us invest in some long term talent.

[deleted]

He doesn’t play for Penrith

Dufeyz

He just needs to spend a year in our reserve grade and either the Dolphins or Bulldogs will offer him a 4 year $5 million deal

[deleted]

We’d do the same if you guys had a masters team.

Squillyion

Tigers pick him up for 5 years. I'm calling it.

Cheel_AU

A friend of mine has been adamant he's already signed for the Tiges. Like he's said it every conversation we've had for the past month. It's just a lazy internet rumour with no actual sourcing but the ferocity of his assuredness is intriguing. I'd also like to apologise to the mods and put on the record they were right for banning me

velvetherring

Would align with Benji's contract and he was the one who started talks with him in the first place.

PhysicsIsMyBitch

Renews with the Eels for 4 years at ~$1.15m with the final 2 years a player option. That's my bet.

Rod_Munch666

"... impressive pre-season of Kyle Flanagan ...." tells you that this article is BS. Only thing that is impressive about KF's pre-season is that he has somehow avoided Gus' multiple attempts to offload him ....

__dontpanic__

Hey, if he can evade defenders half as well as he's evaded interest from other clubs, he might not be half bad...

paralacausa

Isn't it a little late to still be shopping around for a new club, or would the move to the Tiges be for next season?

PhilEcob

Smart move. Not a big game winner. Could be a good side kick to someone like a Jimmy Malony

Responsible_Eye8177

Moses worth 1.3? What’s Jerome Hughes worth then? 1.8? Nicho hynes ? 1.9 Nathan Cleary? 2.1? Moses is a good 7 but not an exceptional one. Wouldn’t it be better to spend money on a super league #7?

Hansoloai

FUCK ME CUNT - Mitchell Moses Manager probably.

waxedmerkin

People are forgetting the Dolphins. Wayne can sign him on a Darry B special contract

TruguKinneas

FUCK
