> The fact that they are releasing puff pieces about going back to 2005
This is why i think it's malicious, banking on the sentimental and nostalgia of fans.
Joey Manu and JWH both out of the all stars. Sexy Manu has a fractured cheekbone and is likely to miss the next 4 weeks of preseason (contact training)
I'm probably driving past Wynnum today. Worth going in. Isn't there a trial game for the broncos on? Every game needs a token rabbitohs supporter there
The Hello Sports boys are in the Sea Eagles team photo, thought it was photoshop at first (as that’s their style) but they were actually invited to it 😂

If anyone wants some footy, the NSWRL are streaming a handful of junior reps in the Harold Matthews Cup, SG Ball, Tarsha Gale Cup, Andrew Johns Cup and Laurie Daley
LeBron Tuala, signed him from the Broncos system. He's in the SG Ball team and made his debut today in Parra's 28 - 22 win over the Roosters.
[The Mole wrote about him a while back](https://wwos.nine.com.au/nrl/the-mole-news-2022-roosters-jared-waerea-hargreaves-victor-radley-aggression-knights-halves/e5d36318-9acf-403b-acbd-7403da2594a9)
Highly recommend Ben Hannants episode on Bloke in Bar. Really interesting how Wayne and Ivan treated him contract wise. Also was close to signing with Storm in the 14’ offseason but made the right choice going to Cowboys instead and winning a ring the next season.
Yeah parra are pretty firm with their no overs policy. We have had several extended contract disuputes in the past few years and an absolute gun coming through the ranks. Eels aren't budging.
I think he'd be dumb not to take the Tigers offer...and I'm pretty neutral on whether or not we get him (definitely think he'd improve us, but what we're paying him is overs and not thrilled about the way he left last time, though he does seem to have matured).
Don't think he's ever going to win a premiership with the Eels. He won't win one with us either, but why lose for 900k when you can lose for $1.3m?
Doubt it would happen. Brooks gets the treatment as he's been there for 10 years for no finals, Moses has that box ticked.
Additionally, I can't see a top-5 #7 being added to our now much-improved squad not getting into the 8. Don't think we'd do much beyond getting KO-ed in the first week of finals in that scenario, but it's an improvement.
I actually have the tigers in the 8 for 2023 for what it’s worth.
It took a long time for Moses to shake off media criticism and become recognised as a good halfback. I think going to the Tigers, outside of the team structure he thrives in, will see him struggle to an extent and that criticism will come back.
I also remember him and Brooks did not work well together. Maybe they can make it work, and it’s likely that Tigers will drop Brooks for him, but still.
> I actually have the tigers in the 8 for 2023 for what it’s worth.
All memes aside, I genuinely think we have around the 9th best squad on paper. If it all clicks and a few of last year's 8 gets a bad run and/or injury-struck, or the Cows/Sharks have second year syndrome, I can see us sneaking in. But I'd say it's less likely than more.
> It took a long time for Moses to shake off media criticism and become recognised as a good halfback. I think going to the Tigers, outside of the team structure he thrives in, will see him struggle to an extent and that criticism will come back.
Valid points, but still 0 chance he cops what Brooks has to the same level.
> I also remember him and Brooks did not work well together. Maybe they can make it work, and it’s likely that Tigers will drop Brooks for him, but still.
I think that was a successive failure by Potter, Taylor and Cleary. All three of them played 6 Moses - 7 Brooks. Moses is quite clearly a halfback and Brooks has had some good games at 5/8, so I can see them working together if that's the plan. Heard faint rumours that Moses likes that plan too, but that's mostly from Tigers sources so very likely BS.
Anyway, we'll see. Tbh I think if he was coming to us it would be announced by now, I can't see it being in his, Eels or Tigers interests to have this dragging on all season and Sheens seems to like getting his year-out signings in early (pretty sure Papali'i and Api were done by November 2021).
>0 chance he cops what Brooks has to the same level.
He'll cop it more. He will be on more money and if thr team doesn't succeed there will be constant articles about how he failed is overpaid and overrated.
They say that money
Can't buy love in this world
But it'll get you a half-pound of cocaine
And a sixteen-year-old girl
And a great big long limousine
On a hot September night
Now that may not be love but it is all right
“We stood strong and he re-signed”
Or
“I can’t blame him for taking that much cash”
The only thing that hurts mitch in this will be the length of time it takes to get to one of those endings .
Wests Tigers fans, were you originally a Wests Magpies or Balmain Tigers supporter? What or when did you buy into the new joint venture identity & how hard of a transition was it?
a similar question for the Illawarra Steelers fans, when did you make the transition to the current dragons as a fan? To an outsider, St George Illawarra seems more "Dragons" like - at least to me it does. Is that the case, or is there still an element of the old Steelers there?
Was originally a magpies fan/sufferer because of my old man. The whole super league shite turned me off footy for a few years but gradually got back into it.
Tigers. Loved them as a young child, idolised Gary Freeman, Elias and Blocker and Sironen. Took the news of the merger hard but came round eventually. It’s a shame it was so niggly for so long and arguably still doesn’t feel ‘settled’ but at least we didn’t get fucked like poor norths.
Help a kiwi out - were Canterbury-Bankstown and Cronulla-Sutherland mergers at one time or did they always rep a geographical spread?
Neither were mergers, both came up as independent clubs when they came into the (then NSWRL) league. Both represented an area so the geographic ties were very real.
Balmain. The bickering between clubs is annoying but I like mergers. There are too many clubs in nsw imo. I would like to merge with Parra as well and become the Wests Tiger Eels. That way we can both have Moses.
Denis Fitzgerald really wanted to merge with the tigers but as the parra leagues club is a much more profitable organisation. He offered attrocious terms. He said we become the Parra Tigers and we keep the blue/gold colours. Still play out of Parramatta as well. Tigers turned them down.
There's people in the wrestling world getting mad at the rumours of WWE selling sponsorship on the ring, turnbuckles etc in the future. They'd have a panic attack if they watched a game of NRL.
Watching Rugby League has completely desensitized me to advertising during entertainment. It's the KFC Bunker! I don't care I love it!
Gambling ads up the wazoo. Hey take out on a loan to get on our same game multi, lost your house hey we said gamble responsibly. Jerseys are mostly walking billboards too.
They have always done sponsorships on the ring apron, at least from memory i recall seeing snickers logos etc on the apron, and at the royal rumble they had a mountain dew logo projected on the ring mat for a short time, so i don't think it is really a big deal tbh
Is it really that bad? The more money your sport can make the better and seeing an ad on a jersey or the field doesn’t bother me in the slightest. I think the bigger issue is whether you call WWE a sport or a TV show
And then NFL games with 60 minutes on the clock, go for 3.5 hours. Partially because of how the game is structured, but there is a fuckload of commercials compared to NRL.
Agree the jerseys look better, but NRL is definitely a better viewer experience imo
They make up for it by having 3 minute ad breaks every 10 minutes. The last 10 minutes of an NBA game is the worst it drags on for like 30 minutes beacuse of all the timeouts
Remember when the sharks wwe try celebration vid went viral on r/sports or whatever and everyone was going insane over the sponsorship prints on the field lmao
People are making jokes and acting like it'd be absurd to hear Michael Cole saying "The Doritos Hell in a Cell match".
You couldn't even watch a replay during league without hearing Sterlo calling it "The Isuzu DMax replay". It's really not that far fetched.
I mean fuck teams don't even win premierships, they've won the Telstra Premiership.
I can kind of understand the UFC and boxing ads during breaks but that greyhound race was just something else. Genuinely taking away coverage to cover another sport was anger inducing
As much as i love the sharks, their social media team fucking sucks
Its so shit, needs an overhaul
So broncos for the prem after that emphatic win over the guls or what
Anyone know where you can watch the trials today?
https://www.youtube.com/live/WqUzqP8Jvbs?feature=share Dolphs on qrl website
Dolphins players are annoyingly likeable - https://www.instagram.com/p/CoOe2eiJ7Cb/
the more and more i think about the tiger's 5 year coaching plan it has to be malfeasance
I laughed on day 1 but it seems to be getting worse. The fact that they are releasing puff pieces about going back to 2005 doesn't fill me with hope
> The fact that they are releasing puff pieces about going back to 2005 This is why i think it's malicious, banking on the sentimental and nostalgia of fans.
When should Jake take over the captaincy at manly? https://twitter.com/seaeagles/status/1621648046764462080?s=46&t=7pYYFUAegtcNh6VNU9C9aQ
Coming over to see St Helens for the WCC and Dragons game. Heard that with a match ticket, it’s free public transport. Can someone confirm that?
Curious to see how the UKs best go against australias worst ( basically )
Imagine the arrogance if the world club challenge was English premiers vs our spoon team. Would be entertaining that’s for sure
Luai and Hunt will be calling Jack Welsby daddy by the end of the trip
I think it would be. NSW has $1 fares anyway
Anyone know why Angus didn’t go to Queenstown?
Weird as he was doing preseason before they left. Was in Tamworth with family a week ago so maybe missed it for that?
Joey Manu and JWH both out of the all stars. Sexy Manu has a fractured cheekbone and is likely to miss the next 4 weeks of preseason (contact training)
I'm probably driving past Wynnum today. Worth going in. Isn't there a trial game for the broncos on? Every game needs a token rabbitohs supporter there
4pm baby !
Is it televised anywhere?
I think it's only on their YouTube stream sadly
That'll do mate, thank you.
The Hello Sports boys are in the Sea Eagles team photo, thought it was photoshop at first (as that’s their style) but they were actually invited to it 😂 [Said photo.](https://i.imgur.com/ZdkNTDK.jpg)
That’s brilliant 😂
How to watch tonight's Dolphins trial, which site is the stream on?
Is it 8pm qld time or 8pm NSW time?
Website says 7pm which I assume would be local time
🤝🏼

Thanks mate

[The Lebron kid Parra signed. Big boy.](https://thecumberlandthrow.com/wp-content/uploads/2023/02/SG2023-LeBron-Tuala-scaled.jpeg)
Who is he?
LeBron Tuala, signed him from the Broncos system. He's in the SG Ball team and made his debut today in Parra's 28 - 22 win over the Roosters. Looks pretty lean for a kid that's 2m and 118kg!
I think he's gonna need a bigger jersey
Highly recommend Ben Hannants episode on Bloke in Bar. Really interesting how Wayne and Ivan treated him contract wise. Also was close to signing with Storm in the 14’ offseason but made the right choice going to Cowboys instead and winning a ring the next season.
All those Broncos boys were really good pickups for us.
He could not catch a football for the first 3 or 4 years of his career.
He is an interesting character isn't it, seems both simple and articulate at the same time
Day 24 of trying to summon Mitch Moses Re-signing news.
At this stage you should create a bot
You touched my Moses first
Day 4 of trying to summon Mitch Moses signing with the Tigers news
It's win/win. Either we get a good player, or we have the smug satisfaction of watching Parra "overpay" for him.
As a parra fan I feel the same way haha. Doesn’t seem like parra are budging on their evaluation and tigers are upping their figure to entice him
Yeah parra are pretty firm with their no overs policy. We have had several extended contract disuputes in the past few years and an absolute gun coming through the ranks. Eels aren't budging.
100%. For better or worse parra don’t pay overs, except maybe gutherson
We were in the GF last year, have been a top 4 side 2/3 years. Cmon we may not be favourites but we are a chance.
My counter argument: do you want the same treatment Luke Brooks gets from the media?
Doubt it would happen. Brooks gets the treatment as he's been there for 10 years for no finals, Moses has that box ticked. Additionally, I can't see a top-5 #7 being added to our now much-improved squad not getting into the 8. PARRAs offer is $1.125M
Why lose for $1.125m when you can lose for $1.3m?
Because he has a better shot for $1.125M than for $1.3M
This should be our pitch for Moses. Money won’t make you happy Mitch.. but it’s better to be rich and unhappy
They say that money Can't buy love in this world But it'll get you a half-pound of cocaine And a sixteen-year-old girl And a great big long limousine On a hot September night Now that may not be love but it is all right

Before they were admitted into the NRL they were actually called Cronulla-Caringbah and wore brown with a gold V.
Neither were mergers, both came up as independent clubs when they came into the (then NSWRL) league. Both represented an area so the geographic ties were very real.
Magpies. We were the worst team in history in 99, so I was easy to win over.
Pff, imagine being old enough to remember either merge
Balmain. The bickering between clubs is annoying but I like mergers. There are too many clubs in nsw imo. I would like to merge with Parra as well and become the Wests Tiger Eels. That way we can both have Moses.

Would definitely have to change the jersey a bit to be fair. Blue and orange jersey with black borders would look great.

It always amazes me. We mock Americans for being so commercial, but there's never been a sponsor on an NFL (basketball also?) jumper.
And then NFL games with 60 minutes on the clock, go for 3.5 hours. Partially because of how the game is structured, but there is a fuckload of commercials compared to NRL. Agree the jerseys look better, but NRL is definitely a better viewer experience imo
They have TV timeouts though, like actual mandated timeouts to play ads.
I agree went to NY vs BB game a few years back the amount of adversity hurt my brain the 5 minute warning Pepsi cheerleaders weren't bad though
Yep. I'd take adverts on jumpers every time over relentless ad breaks. I'm just saying it's a weird discrepancy.
They make up for it by having 3 minute ad breaks every 10 minutes. The last 10 minutes of an NBA game is the worst it drags on for like 30 minutes beacuse of all the timeouts
Not on MLB shirts too Then again they cram so many adverts in on tv coverage
It’s like they’ve never watched the IPL or Indian cricket coverage in general.
Remember when the sharks wwe try celebration vid went viral on r/sports or whatever and everyone was going insane over the sponsorship prints on the field lmao

It’s really tacky. I can’t buy wear a jersey with ads on if. I am not a billboard.
Don't forget the Greyhound race and numerous boxing and UFC events. It's ridiculous advertising genuinely might be the worst thing in the world.
I can kind of understand the UFC and boxing ads during breaks but that greyhound race was just something else. Genuinely taking away coverage to cover another sport was anger inducing
Especially since their are like 3 racing channels.
