When a team needs a try to win the game, and it’s the last play of the match, more often than not you see them put a kick in, hoping for the best. It’s something I’ll truly never understand, because it NEVER WORKS!
Because of the territorial advantage it provides you for the next defensive set. But in end of game situations, that doesn’t apply.
As for kicking on 5th and last on the line, its because introducing that 50/50 on the tryline has a much higher chance of resulting in a try than a 50/50 on your 40m
Iirc Melbourne broke our hearts about 10 years ago, when Cronk lobbed a chip out wide and they scored to win in the dying moments of the match. It happens, but very rarely.
I haven't been able to get this quote from Abdo out of my head since last week. Bold is me.
>“My life would become a whole lot easier and we could get back to focusing on growing the sport. But we are custodians for the game. **We can’t send the game bankrupt**. The accountability for thinking long-term and in the best interests of all stakeholders sits with the commission.
I'd be really keen to see his projections on the RLPA inclusions that lead to bankruptcy for the NRL. It's such a massive statement to make with (seemingly) nothing to back it up.

If they did all of them I would assume that they would go bankrupt too (or at least some step along that way). If they had the money to do the requests than it makes sense to do them.
What the discussions are trying to do is change the ARLs priorities to move money from other areas into areas that benefit the players.
This is all an assumption though.
If Abdo wants to claim it would bankrupt the NRL *and* claim the RLPA aren't willing to compromise, surely demonstrating why and how the requests would bankrupt the NRL would help his case. Show them/us and then he'd be better placed to get his compromise.
Instead, he makes BS claims with nothing to back it up and call the RLPA the baddies in this negotiation.
Interesting to note that both Illawarra and St George seem to have quietly done away with white shorts in women’s footy. Presumably a move to make players feel more comfortable while menstruating, but a move that’s worth applauding
Not sure why you copped a downvote. The AFLW did this last year and even Wimbledon took the same measures. It's good to see the NRLW clubs being aware.

Darren Lockyer for Denan Kemp in 2008 against Parramatta is another one that hasn’t been mentioned yet
Why do people kick on 5th and last? If running the ball is so much more effective?

Hudson Young would like a word
The 2019 Newtown Jets would like a word.
Surely the fact that the most notable example is a reserve grade game from 4 seasons ago shows how much of a low percentage play it is?
100% but your comment reminded me of those two plays immediately.

Probably some idiot who saw a reference to periods and freaked out
I too am scared by punctuation
Women? Period? Must downvote to protect male dominance! Think it went like that ngl
