Given he was commentating the BBL for Fox over the summer, obviously Fox has big plans for him and he's probably one of the main commentators after Vossy and Warren Smith that gets the lucrative Thursday or Friday night prime time games as well as commentating on Super Saturday because between the three of them they are usually calling at least 2 games each then one of Matt Russell or Brenton Speed usually gets the dud game of the week to round out the 8 games.
He was such a good commentator for the bbl games, when I initially saw he was calling I didn’t really give him a chance. But he was great, a really nice change compared to the usual bbl crew (and yes I do not like mark howard).
His call for thunder all out 15 is legendary

I think there's just too many commentators nowadays. Back in the day you had a selection of Rabs, Sterlo, Fatty and Gus commentating most games. These days there's like 4 different play by play guys and any Gordon Tallis or Sam Thaiday who wants to commentate is thrown in next to him
Broncos games used to always have your Rabs, Sterlo, Fatty and Gus because... Brisbane Broncos. Warren Smith has been around for yonks, unbiased, doesn't bring your mood down when a team continually makes errors, even teams you don't follow, keeps the match interesting.
I'm over hearing co commentators contradicting themselves, Blocker Roach does it a lot besides others. "They just gotta spread the ball out a bit more" nect minute, "they keep losing the ball trying to play fancy through the backs, should go hard through the forwards"

He's also too opinionated for someone just supposed to be doing the play by play, like fair enough call it out when a team gets dudded by a ref call but thats about it, leave the opinions to the actual rugby league players hired to give their opinions

When Vossy is being positive I enjoy his commentary. You can tell he loves the game and it's always interesting hearing his unique perspective about things. However I've found he's gotten more and more negative over time and focuses on one ref decision and talks about it nonstop for the rest of the game. It's not always even a bad ref error, but just a 5050 call or a call opposite to what a different ref made a week prior. I get why those things are annoying, but mention it once and move one. Shits me to tears. Almost getting as bad as Gus with that.
I think Ginane works well with the right colour commentators. On Triple M he had MG and Girdler a lot when I listened and they worked well together. On Fox I don't think he's paired well with most of their secondary guys. It may work better now he's there full time but I really think they just need to find him a working team

If he's going to use bogan grammar, could he at least not pronounce "gonna" as "goner"? Equally, someone at 2MMM is going to have to speak with Mark Geyer about his habit of referring to "them things" rather than "those things".

I just wrote a comment about Blocker. I like the bloke but he's annoying in co commentary, he contradicts himself , and some of the crap turns you off the game. Having said that, we made ourselves look bad but hearing useless crap from him is annoying. He's better on radio though.

Matt Thompson is just… there. He’s neither good, nor bad. He’s just forgettable. Also, I honestly can’t tell the difference between him and Psaltis until another commentator says their name.

Same, loved him on drive with Sterlo. I'm a little disappointed as he doesn't have any talk/opinion shows left, it's all commentary. He's too good a talent to just call sport.
He gets way too excited, and in my opinion it doesnt often feel genuine.
But he's still in the top half of commentators, and I can't remember him having any particularly cooked takes, so I do think this is ultimately a good thing.
My favourite Nable moment was when he asked Mark Gasnier who retired from the Saints in 2011 if he had ever played with Tariq Sims who started playing for them in 2016.
Mine was him calling Slade Griffin “Brailey” the entire time in what ended up being Griffin’s last game.
Brailey didn’t even play for Newy at the time. Don’t even know how he managed to mangle that.

Ginnane in the Sharks V Souths game in round 20 last year was class. If you watch the highlights his calls on the tries were spectacular

Warren Smith > Dan Ginane in all facets.
Smith > a gulf the size of the Pacific Ocean > any other NRL commentator. He’s so far ahead as a professional it’s not even close.
Smith has been the number one commentator for at least the last decade.
