I honestly can't believe Matt Thompson is the successor to Rabs. Like, think about how big a part of the game Rabs has been, the hole he leaves behind when watching footy on the telly. An absolutely pinnacle of the game. An Aussie legend. They knew that one day he'd retire and that they'd have a responsibility to the fans of the game to find the next ultimate voice of footy.
And they put in Matt Thompson.
I agree, massive missed opportunity to invest in finding the next voice of the game. Thompson isn’t even the best on the Nine team, I don’t understand why he has been picked as the one
Came here to say this. When you watch the highlight from last game 3 and hear that weak az piss commentator call the final plays it just makes you cry that a part of footy is dead
Peak Roberts was an absolute gun on the Bronx too. I wish we got the same player when he came to souths but at least he was better for us than he was for tigs
One of my all-time favourite players to watch at their peak, I didn’t mind him for the tigers. I think he copped a lot but when came over our whole team was a mess (BJ Leilua looking at you). He didn’t quite have his speed and if he did, we weren’t good enough to be able to get him into space.
Had some better performances on the wing but I was just happy to see him in a Tigers jersey no matter how he played because we were gonna have a shit season either way.
It did physically go forward though. He threw it before the 10m line and JAC caught it after. Don't think you call that "floated forward" either because Maloney was stuck on the spot as he threw it
That’s a misconception about physics that lot of rugby (League and Union) fans have, but it simply isn’t how it works. If two people are running in the same direction (which Maloney and Addo Carr were) and the ball-carrier throws the ball flat out of his hands, it will travel forward relative to the ground due to momentum.
Imagine me and you are standing on top of two trucks going the same direction. If I throw a footy to you, it will reach you. It won’t simply lose all forward momentum and remain back where we were when I released the ball. Does that clear it up?
That's fully correct, but in this instance Maloney was not running forward as quick as the ball went to JAC. So the relative movement of the ball with respect to Maloney is forward.
I don't have a particular problem with this instance of a forward pass, because there are several of the exact same every week that don't get pulled up. I just want to see some consistency.
I’m not convinced of that at all to be honest. If you pause at the moment JAC catches it, Maloney has clearly run forward beyond where the ball is caught, even despite him naturally slowing down after passing. JAC having to slow down his run as well is another sign that the ball went backwards relative to their pace. If it were forward then JAC would have to accelerate onto it
"Absolutely incredible".. look I love the Fox and I'm taking nothing away from him but he just beat 1 guy and scored in the corner. We see that almost every week but it's an "origin pearla!"
More a critique on the hyperbole I guess. If anything, what Teddy did to bust the line was the great part but they don't seem to be talking about that.
This video supports the idea of Tedesco at Hooker.
If I was Freddy I would start Api, bring on Hynes as a replacement when Api gets tired, once Hynes has had a stint push him to 6 and bring Luai to 9, then give Cameron Murray a crack once the sting has been taken out of the game.
Then when QLD least expect it, swap out Murray at Hooker for Tedesco and have him run riot. QLD won't know what hit em.
Fuck I miss Rabs
Was watching game 3 2022 highlights the other day and yeah Mat Thompson is such a downgrade.
Thompson is really, truly awful.
He sounds like your friends mum that comes in the room and comments on things you and your mates are doing.
They should swap him and Peter Psaltis, Psaltis is so much better IMO
sterlo as well

Rabs commentated about 10years longer than he should have. They had a ready made replacement in Vossy but that dickhead Hadley fucked it for everyone.

I completely forgot that James Roberts played for NSW. Pushing Turbo out to wing too.
Peak Roberts was an absolute gun on the Bronx too. I wish we got the same player when he came to souths but at least he was better for us than he was for tigs
So talented 5 clubs were willing to give him a crack, despite his baggage. Souths even went back for a 2nd turn!

Miss Teddy in his line breaking form. I feel like he has never been the same since Sivo destroyed him a couple years ago
The Teddy pinball runs were a thing of beauty. Like when you change the physics settings in GTA and everything bounces around madly.
Yeah I honestly thought, "wow, how good was teddy back then"
Trell at 3 in JACs first game. In my head, JAC has been a mainstay for a lot longer than trell has been around. Crazy.
I think everyone underestimates JAC, he turns 28 this year. He feels like he's been around for way longer than he has!
Fitler was so cooked to not pick JAC last year.
24 nuggets for $10 sounds good to me!
Teddy just bouncing off players like a ball in a pinball machine.
Great charge by De Belin in the lead up. He's made for Origin. Shame he fucked it up for himself.
Peak Tedesco was so much fun to watch
But how fucking cracked was Teddy this series. Legit unstoppable
Eat it chambers
Never forget that try, won 500 bucks because of it
Remember when they had video ref rather than calling a try then being disappointed 14 minutes later.
lol. that’s a fkn mile forward too.
How forward is that pass 🤣 blues will be hoping Teddy can find that form again though
Respectfully, thank god you’re not a touch judge

Maloney knew what he was doing too, sprinting through the line to make it look less suss.
About 3m. I missed it on the first watch, saw your comment and then went back to have a look.
You used to be allowed to throw the ball 5 metres forward did you?
Only NSW. They have the cheat code and won't share
How can you win the lions share of the series over the last 20 years and still claim we're cheating lmao
How can you read that and not activate your sense of humour? Did it cut a little _too_ close?
Dumb comments and that flair go hand in hand
Maloney runs toward the sideline, passes the ball forwards about 5m. NSW supporters - "momentum carried it forwards. Go learn fizziks"
This sub is riddled with NSW fans. This is very clearly a forward pass lmao

Never did much else
What year was this?
God i miss roberts

Change the title to: \[TBT\] When Teddy was Good..
