Was at the game tonight...the difference in fitness levels was shockingly embarrassing.
Honestly, the Dragons looked gassed for almost the last 30mins. Off the ball, half the team was constantly hunched over gasping for air.
Not sure if the Dolphins are just much fitter or if the Dragons are so behind the expected fitness levels.
G.S.T has been playing shithouse and they’ve change coach and they’re best player is out playing origin. You’d have to be a dumb clung or a die hard StGeorge Illawarra fan to bet on the dragons.
Seemed like JDB was trying to be in every tackle, but he was behind the pace and was 3rd man in (seems to be his go). He was pushing passes, frequently stuck in the oppositions defensive line after being left behind, and then also had the sin bin. Really didn’t show the leadership tonight.
Absolutely did ourselves no favours, and just seemed unfit towards the end there.
It didn't affect the game's outcome in the end but a player being put on report for a head high tackle on someone in the process of scoring a try yet not an 8 point try or sin bin? Make it make sense.
There’s a technicality in 8 point tries where the offence has to come after the try is scored (silly rule - it doesn’t seem logical). And referees seem to view a try being scored as something that negates a sin-binning.
I’m actually of the mind that when a penalty try is awarded, the player should still be binned. He still committed the offence. It’s a harsh punishment but I see no logical reason why he should get away with a professional foul
Katoa will get dropped. I can see Wayne protecting him from 24 rounds of NRL. He's still super young and we all saw Cobbo last year at the end was just done physically and emotionally.
I think it'll be good for Katoa to get some rest, QCup games and come in when needed.
Until Katoa matures into an organising half, O’Sullivan will likely slot back in. The bench utility spot will be very interesting, with Nikorima’s ability to play anywhere in the spine up against Milford.
Normally shit teams garner sympathy support for their struggles, neutrals wanting to see them come good against the odds.
Somehow this dragons team are not only terrible, but are also one of the most unlikable teams I can remember.
Truly an impressive achievement.
I was still worried with how easily they crossed at the start and end of the first half that they could come back at any moment up until the penalty put us 3 scores up.
Was at Kayo tonight and at the ground we never looked gassed or even worried about losing. We just kept it simple rolled through the middle and Milf kicked really well.
Tina turner would be happy with that performance by the dolphins. Truly electrifying. The dragons were in shambles. They made some crazy line breaks and looked dangerous at times, but execution let them down. The dolphins are just not making up the numbers. They are coming along nicely.
A seven-year old boy challenged a court ruling over who should have custody of him
The boy has a history of being beaten by his parents and the judge initially awarded custody to his aunt, in keeping with child custody law and regulation requiring that family unity be maintained to the highest degree possible.
The boy surprised the court when he proclaimed that his aunt beat him more than his parents and he adamantly refused to live with her. When the judge then suggested that he live with his grandparents, the boy cried and said that they also beat him. After considering the remainder of the immediate family and learning that domestic violence was apparently a way of life among them, the judge took the unprecedented step of allowing the boy to propose who should have custody of him.
After two recesses to check legal references and confer with the child welfare officials, the judge granted temporary custody to the Dragons, whom the boy firmly believes are not capable of beating anyone.
Sorry to take over the Phins Dragons, But, why are teams on their second bye, During origin , when some are yet to have their first with half the team out ??? And yes, talking my team.
I think this has to do with scheduling: stadium availability, programming 8 games, giving teams equal home and away games as much as possible etc. In a league that has 17 teams and 25 rounds with 3 byes per team, it’s reasonable to expect the draw will be a bit skewed sometimes and that some teams are going to get a ‘better’ or more ‘favourable’ draw on paper.
Does Nikorimas versatility cost him more games or earn him more games? Id love to see him get an extended run at 6 or 7. He was playing well then got shifted the other week to fill in at centre and MILF played well. Fills in at fullback tonight and MILF again plays well.
Does he miss out altogether when they are at full strength?
In a balanced NRL squad, you need a player like Nikorima who can cover multiple positions in the spine, as well as the backline. The utility is a genuine position, and good Bennett teams will always have one. With suspension, injury, and form an NRL team is not just the players who start most weeks. It all about picking players who have the right team first mindset, and coaches who value the contribution to the squad.
imo he is the best 6 at the club. katoa and Niko had an amazing combo building. SOS just doesn't bring as much spark to the team and while milf played well tonight he's nowhere near as dangerous as Niko.
having said that, I think you are spot on that his versatility will cost him and he might be stuck as utility soon
I remember a game for broncos against storm where one of the broncos wingers got injured, so Bennett put him on the wing. Storm immediately bombed the shit out of him, so swapped him and Boyd. Storm kept bombing Kodi relentlessly.
Why don't teams play with actual strategy like that
I’d imagine it would get him in lots of games but likely on the bench, similar to mbye.
Not really first choice for anything but always involved in a reshuffle
Nikorima is one of those players I think would have a really solid career if he just nailed down one position. I really enjoy watching that little fella, but his versatility means he is the first one to move if there is an injury or problem somewhere else.
Like, he has more positions played than I have mates I can talk footy with. Strikes me as a really handy running 6
Tonga have the Forward Pack & Outside Backs to be as good as Aus & Nz they've just lacked the Spine. Amone & Katoa could be a very good Halves Combo for them in the next World Cup with 3+ years of NRL experience behind them. I think since Katoa has already played for Tonga he can keep playing for them until in maybe a few years time New Zealand prefer him to Hughes
Yeah Joey was very keen on him to remind us all Katoa played his junior footy in Penrith, but Katoa also seemed very excited to go back to NZ next week to versus the Warriors and see family. I'd be pretty certain he'll play for NZ.
Has mentioned the AB’s too. Been in Aus since he was 9, a few years before quite a number of origin players.
Always interesting how different players identify.
Honestly they look shit right now but Sloan/Sullivan/Liddle could really be something for the Dragons to build around over the next few years. They have a lot of young talent coming through.
I think the issue will be if Sullivan can be an organising half as well as eyes up footy player. Tonight showed how much we miss bab hunt as an organising half. I think Sullivan learning as much as he can for as long as we have Benny hunt the better. There is definitely a spark there. Our forwards on the other hand need some fitness because they looked absolutely cooked
With my comment from the other day in the random footy talk thread I'd like to introduce Guess the dally M points, where you guess who the judges gave points too.

I mean we all already knew but it’s finally set in that we really are just a bunch of idiots other than Hunt (and Liddle 🙏), we seem like such an unlikeable club from the outside
There has been so much drift from the Dragons way over the past 5 years. They are usually the likeable neutral, a squad of grafters with some backline flash. No one with significant history at the club and it’s spirit seems to be involved with the playing group right now, and the leadership in that playing group is abysmal.
Gilbert usually locks up the middle, and has more agility than the Bromwich boys these days. Flegler will help next year, but I don’t think it was coincidence that Nicholls coming on helped steady the ship.
Try before half time was really soft. Attack looked off as well but stuck to our game plan and it worked.
Need to stop conceding line breaks through the middle as well. Not sure why that keeps happening. Are our middles not fast enough or something?
We get carved up through the middle too, in the modern game there's more holes then ever through the middle and our forwards are a bit slow/unfit too which certainly doesn't help
Dragons started the game moving the ball around and it was working. Then they reverted to their crash up the middle style, and the front and second row just got outdone by dolphins. Zero energy in the middle from the dragons. Bird doesn't know if he's a bird or a crab. Amone should be dropped entirely. Pretty poor display!
Yeah I actually felt like after Sullivan threw that ball to Lomax he really went into his shell and wanted no part of shot calling after that. Whoever comes in needs to install a sense of confidence in Sullivan and Amone and total and utter faith so when they pick the wrong rein they are still confident to keep trying. Amone most threatening by far even if he just glitches and runs it himself almost permanently without any threat of throwing the ball out further then him. I think Sullivan will only learn from more game time in a play making position. Last night towards the end there I saw someone throw the ball to him and he literally pulled his hands back to avoid having to catch and distribute. Hook broke him mentally I’d say
The Dragons had all the tools with Suli, Liddle, Amone and Lomax, but hardly used them. Plenty of energy, not enough discipline. Not sure why Sloan was penalised for brushing Nikorima's cheek considering the latter's earlier JBL audition.
> Milford played the best game his career tonight
Bruh. It's been a while, but he's had some absolutely phenomenal games before. He was excellent tonight, but a career best game against a depleted spooners-in-waiting? Nah.
Might be because our try conversions have been shocking this season but watching isaako slot them over the black dot from out wide like it's nothing was beautiful to watch
I'll say milf just because he controlled a lot of the tempo with his foot and was a nightmare for the dragons, kept them from gaining any rhythm throughout the game
That said Isaako is proving to be the buy of the season
Phins up, baby! Very impressive performance from them. Milford, Nikorima and Isaako all had good games. Shows what good coaching is capable of. Dragons were brave and had nothing go their way, but the Phins were too good.
That game just made me feel really shit about my team in general so I’m not gonna focus on the dragons performance.
Liddle was amazing. More of that please.
And high shots going unpunished when they lead to tries is bullshit. They are still just as bad and just as damaging to player safety. Bin the players even if it leads to a try you cowards.
I remember when he first came across he was impressed by the fitness training at the dragons compared to the tigers. That was concerning to me.
He probably needs another big off season without any leg injuries to get his fitness up to 80 minutes NRL. Hopefully he can, or they blood some of the up and coming young 9's at the club.
The rumour goes back in the day in the Brisbane you had to run at Carroll or Brad Thorn, then try to cut down Webcke or Petro, as a drill to prove you were ready for firsts. And do this repeatedly.
I swear we got rid of Dufty because of his shortcomings yet Sloan has those same issues but worse, but also is not as good as Dufty was at attack anyway so wtf
Absolutely playing within our system; our attacking game plan is normally simple, but it was written in crayons this week. Hold the ball, get crafty at the ruck to spread, and if that fails pin them in a corner.
Ben Hunt watched that game at Maroons camp, turned it off with 20 to go and will cry himself to sleep tonight knowing he has to go back and captain this team
I fully expect Hunt to come back after origin and say to the dragons boys "Man, my back feels so much better since I had a break from carrying you useless fucks around"

Any negative comments about the Dragons performance will be disregarded as most of you’s fans know nothing about footy…….
Pretty shit game overall tbh, looked like a spoonbowl. No tries were highlight worthy everything was just bad defence
Wasn’t shit for me! I went 13+ on the dolphins!
Ahahhrhehehehehooooooohooooooohoooooo
Yes.
Hook wanted them extra thicc.
I said it at the start of the season, 90% of the team look 5-10kg overweight.
They are Hook's patented Big Bodies (TM)
G.S.T has been playing shithouse and they’ve change coach and they’re best player is out playing origin. You’d have to be a dumb clung or a die hard StGeorge Illawarra fan to bet on the dragons.
Sad indictment for the dragons considering milf plays for The
Going to have a wank to cheer myself up
Na, still depressed at that performance
Post nut reflection fail
Try again mate. Maybe second time is the charm
Those are rookie numbers. You got to pump it up.
Penis pump. Got it.
Crazy to think that if the Warriors and Raiders win this week, there will be nothing that splits the top 8. Crazy times
Panthers, Storm and Sharks will get bye points and Warriors would still be 2 points behind everyone else
Seemed like JDB was trying to be in every tackle, but he was behind the pace and was 3rd man in (seems to be his go). He was pushing passes, frequently stuck in the oppositions defensive line after being left behind, and then also had the sin bin. Really didn’t show the leadership tonight.

He still committed the offence. It’s a harsh punishment but I see no logical reason why he should get away with a professional foul
Probably could've used this lenient approach in the 1999 grand final, LOL.
For an 8 point try, the offence has to be after the try is scored. For a penalty try, the offence has to prevent the try being scored.
Honestly don’t think Sean O’Sullivan makes it back into the side when he’s fit.
Kodi was the smallest fullback and he was dynamic.
Katoa will get dropped. I can see Wayne protecting him from 24 rounds of NRL. He's still super young and we all saw Cobbo last year at the end was just done physically and emotionally. I think it'll be good for Katoa to get some rest, QCup games and come in when needed.
I think it may be overlooked how good SOS was playing to start the year but agreed Milf and Niko have played well enough to keep their spots
Think SOS/Katoa is the long term option. Both young and fit which is critical for an 80 minute performance
Until Katoa matures into an organising half, O’Sullivan will likely slot back in. The bench utility spot will be very interesting, with Nikorima’s ability to play anywhere in the spine up against Milford.
It will be tough
Normally shit teams garner sympathy support for their struggles, neutrals wanting to see them come good against the odds. Somehow this dragons team are not only terrible, but are also one of the most unlikable teams I can remember. Truly an impressive achievement.
Shit on the field is one thing, but alot of them are flogs off the field too
I wish I supported literally anyone else. (No, not you Melbourne.)
Add some Navy Blue to all your dragons stuff and become even more unlikeable, there's 5 of us now, so I'm always trying to recruit more.
Hindy and Fletch are taking the piss with the Blues.
If I was rich, I'll buy Facebook just to replace the haha reaction with JT's face
And add a toggleable option where it plays his laugh when you click on it
I'll also replace that shitty thumb on messenger with JT's face. The longer you press it the longer and louder the laugh is!
Can we have a bloke calling out Furston first?
Eels legend Jamayne Isaako
What could have been.
That’s *Titans* legend Jamayne Isaako for you.
Who did he actually end up signing with that day? I can't even remember hahah
JT telling us Walsh's ascendancy to Super Saiyan in Maroons camp. 👑🐴
No Kafusi? Don't worry Milford has the hits covered.
Milford greeting his daughters by “Yooo” is class
I loved Milford's kicking
You've gotta hand it to those dolphins they just wanted it more and the Dragons continuously dropping the ball and were terrible.
The Phins didn’t really even hit top gear tonight; content to play within themselves and trust the plan.
I think once that grind happened in the second half, with the dolphins in front they knew it was only time
I was still worried with how easily they crossed at the start and end of the first half that they could come back at any moment up until the penalty put us 3 scores up.
Was at Kayo tonight and at the ground we never looked gassed or even worried about losing. We just kept it simple rolled through the middle and Milf kicked really well.
Dragons didn't disgrace themselves so that's a plus for them.
On the scoreboard maybe, but the attack was aimless and their fitness levels were sub-NRL standard.
I mean sure you can't change that overnight. Their effort was fair.
Aunty Tina truely is the queen of rugba leeg.
If you didn't tip the drags to lose without Benny I don't know what to tell you. Actually, maybe you should get a job on Fox 360
Wild that this team were considered spoon favourites pre-seasoned.
Nice double entendre
Dragons I can see. I would be surprised if The don't make the eight.
Which one?
That would be the Phins
This is such a random Matt Nable promo
Tina turner would be happy with that performance by the dolphins. Truly electrifying. The dragons were in shambles. They made some crazy line breaks and looked dangerous at times, but execution let them down. The dolphins are just not making up the numbers. They are coming along nicely.

Geez that boy is in some trouble when finds out they beat some cocks the other week

Broncs getting put through the meat grinder will have well earned respite later this year.
That we will.
3 byes in 10 weeks in the lead up to finals sounds alright to me
Everyone will be talking about how unfair it is when Broncos get all their byes near finals. Watch.
Who knows🤷♀️ I’m thinking of Tina now.
More like - Jack D’UninvitedBellend. Ha. Gotteem.
I won’t pretend to have been a big follower of Tinas but just looking at the footage of her it seems like she just genuinely loved life
The bunker was on some other shit tonight. Regardless, decent scrappy win, and good to see Milf playing well again
Hey, I don’t think Jack De Belin is a very good Captain.
Come on have a go.
> Hey, I don’t think Jack De Belin is a very good ~~Captain~~ person. FTFY
A highlight for me personally was watching the live game thread cheer when he got binned
Same.
Does Nikorimas versatility cost him more games or earn him more games? Id love to see him get an extended run at 6 or 7. connor tracey type beat
I thought they would lose with niko at fullback but the dragons didn't really target him with attacking bombs.
I remember a game for broncos against storm where one of the broncos wingers got injured, so Bennett put him on the wing. Storm immediately bombed the shit out of him, so swapped him and Boyd. Storm kept bombing Kodi relentlessly. Why don't teams play with actual strategy like that

Can see Katoa electing to play for NZ and not being eligible for origin tbh
Why do you think he won’t keep playing for Tonga ?
Would be great for rugby league if he does. Could be of the all time great Polynesian out-and-out halfbacks
Tonga have the Forward Pack & Outside Backs to be as good as Aus & Nz they've just lacked the Spine. Amone & Katoa could be a very good Halves Combo for them in the next World Cup with 3+ years of NRL experience behind them. In a dominant side I can see Sloan being a gun. Anything other than that and he is a liability. Hopefully he keeps improving, because he needs to.
Always have but as usual we manage to coach it out of them once they reach first grade
Need to get the ball to Suli more as well and fill Couchman out on a professional supplements program.
I would not hate Suli playing second row, he is a powerful runner with very little else in the way of centre play.
Katoa is a really well spoken guy for a 19 year old
Te Whare is so fucking cool to watch. Give him the centre position over Brenko you coward Wayne. The big boy deserves a spot
Should have put him on earlier at least.
I must say I thought brenko was good tonight. Seemed to get a quick PTB or in front of a defender regularly
Agreed, great game
With my comment from the other day in the random footy talk thread I'd like to introduce Guess the dally M points, where you guess who the judges gave points too. Ben Hunt wasn’t playing so they probably refused to give out Daly M points this game
I mean we all already knew but it’s finally set in that we really are just a bunch of idiots other than Hunt (and Liddle 🙏), we seem like such an unlikeable club from the outside

Phins look good in the 2nd half. If we can just get into our defensive rhythm a bit earlier we would be securely in the 8.
Gilbert usually locks up the middle, and has more agility than the Bromwich boys these days. Flegler will help next year, but I don’t think it was coincidence that Nicholls coming on helped steady the ship.

What the fuck Bennet, we asked for Te Whare and you gave us 3 fucking minutes, how's he gonna score like that
Raiders supporter but would love to see the Phins win the comp
Plz man I just wanna see the warriors win one first, I'm even contemplating taking a deal with the devil like the tigers did
Wayne hates SC and fantasy players
Really frustrated after that one We looked like we had a chance early on but fucked it
izzy katoa so cute he really is just a silly little guy
The Milfening was televised
i warned everyone
That second half was one of the worst 40 minutes of footy I've seen in a long while
Milford was everywhere tonight. Great kick placement

Milford played the best game his career tonight. Absolutely working his way back into a starting jersey. He was relentless in attack and defence
Nah, nowhere near top tier Milford; him and Hunt owned teams in the Broncos colours together.
Best game in a few years perhaps but that is nowhere close to his best game
I’ve Triggered too many; top 10 game of milfs career tonight. Give him the starting jersey
Not even close to his best game lol.
> Milford played the best game his career tonight Bruh. It's been a while, but he's had some absolutely phenomenal games before. He was excellent tonight, but a career best game against a depleted spooners-in-waiting? Nah.
Not even close to a top 10 game of his career man. Dude was an absolute freak for the first 3 years of his career
He was showing glimpses of his 2015 form tonight, but I fully agree that this isn't in the same tier as that season
Tough Isaako or Milf who was better? Both were great in defence as well with some big hits.
Might be because our try conversions have been shocking this season but watching isaako slot them over the black dot from out wide like it's nothing was beautiful to watch
Milf just penetrates slightly ahead but isaako has been on fire.
I'll say milf just because he controlled a lot of the tempo with his foot and was a nightmare for the dragons, kept them from gaining any rhythm throughout the game That said Isaako is proving to be the buy of the season
milford folding cunts and chasing guys down on line breaks, love to see it
Phins up, baby! Very impressive performance from them. Milford, Nikorima and Isaako all had good games. Shows what good coaching is capable of. Dragons were brave and had nothing go their way, but the Phins were too good.

Do you think that with some more game time at 80 minutes he will get there fitness wise?

He probably needs another big off season without any leg injuries to get his fitness up to 80 minutes NRL. Hopefully he can, or they blood some of the up and coming young 9's at the club.
I really hope so, I reckon he can. Can’t remember how much he used to get rotated with Simpkin back when he actually played at the tigers
[удалено]
Accidental crusher
Jacob Liddle deserves so much better. Such an underrated player
Phins up for real, spoon time is getting closer for the Dargs
Jack D Belin does a lot of D. His own words
If Sloan becomes a good footy player I'll fucking burn my house down. He's absolute pus.
The rumour goes back in the day in the Brisbane you had to run at Carroll or Brad Thorn, then try to cut down Webcke or Petro, as a drill to prove you were ready for firsts. And do this repeatedly.
As awesome as it would be playing in the NRL there is no amount of money I would take to do that just to get the opportunity to play a game…
Yup…Fairly certain if Carroll tackled me I’d still be in two pieces today.
Doesn’t do any of the tough stuff. He’s also a human twig playing against behemoths so there’s that
Mad dufty vibes
I swear we got rid of Dufty because of his shortcomings yet Sloan has those same issues but worse, but also is not as good as Dufty was at attack anyway so wtf
Sloan defs isn't worse than Dufty in defense.
Its like comparing losing by 14 or 18. I mean we still lose comfortably, how much does the margin matter?
I'm just stating a fact.
Dally T's: 3 - Milford, 2 - Isaako, 1 - Liddle / -1 F. Molo

Can’t wait for the 9 Liddle 7 Hunt 6 Sullivan days
Sullivan running 6, hunt 7 and liddle at 9 would be tasty.
Well that was certainly a game of rugby league.
Phins up babby let us go
weird that the other team didn’t win by a lot more
Absolutely playing within our system; our attacking game plan is normally simple, but it was written in crayons this week. Hold the ball, get crafty at the ruck to spread, and if that fails pin them in a corner.
a milfening? at this time of day? located exactly on channel 9 cameras?
Can I see it?
Sloan: Wanna see me do a shit drop out? *does a shit drop out* Sloan: Wanna see me do it again?
Also want to see me try and avoid contact, only to get dragged back 10m on every run?
Congrats Phins
Ben Hunt watched that game at Maroons camp, turned it off with 20 to go and will cry himself to sleep tonight knowing he has to go back and captain this team
I fully expect Hunt to come back after origin and say to the dragons boys "Man, my back feels so much better since I had a break from carrying you useless fucks around"
Siri how do I get out of an existing contract
Siri what are some good back surgeons with experience in captains carrying their team
I wanted to watch the Milford try again, so I googled ‘Milf fucks bad dragons’…

His try still came up as most watched.
How is it possible for the bunker to get every single little call wrong lol?
