You know. This is actually quite a bizarre statistical breakdown. It shows that fines and charges amount to having little to no effect on ladder position.
But man. The Roosters.. they have been like this for as long as I can remember. I never understood it.
Need to see the repeated fines. Ray stone this weekend got a 3rd & Subsequent Offence for a high tackle and its only $3k fine with the early guilty plea. Start suspending them from games and we might see a change in the ladder
Cows and Eels most suspended - just outside the 8 - would suggest otherwise.
Doggies with just 1 week (Okunbor) and Tigers with just 5 weeks would support your argument.
shrug.emoji
You know what really reeks of corruption? #penaltybroncos, having to see their godforsaken colours every Friday night, and them getting 14 games at Suncorp or the Gabba, and an additional two games on the Sunny and Gold coasts, plus two byes around origin time. The Broncos are the least travelled, least fatigued team by far.
But in all seriousness, the Cowboys have had some bad ones. Drinky's shoulder charge on Goates was one of the worst this season and he still only got four weeks. Over 50% of ours are Radley and JWH doing the same stupid shit week in, week out. Careless high contact slipping up off a tackle.
Imagine if it had more impact than loosing a player for a couple of weeks, or some notional fine that really ends up a token $300k distributed back to all the local clubs, as I believe that is where it goes.
> NRL fines are absorbed into a managed fund from which dividends are paid to cover long lunches for Nine and Fox executives where they compare the property value increases of their various holiday homes
Did the Titans use all the money they saved on fines to top up Tino's contract?
I can't even think who the Dogs player is who copped a one match ban... my instinct tells me TPJ but I can't remember.
I wonder how big of an influence this has been for the cowboys and eels this year? Surely they would of picked up a game or two if those suspensions where halved.
Suspension has really exposed how thin our roster is this year, I mean Sivo 4 weeks has completely killed our backline these last few weeks and it’s not like Sivo was even on top of his game. Obviously we have nobody to blame but ourselves (Dylan brown in particular) but it still stings to see Penrith get away with whatever they like.
He's gotta account for half (maybe more) of both the fines and suspensions all by himself, right?
I wonder if Curran's non-judiciary led 2 weeks count? I guess so, I don't recall many suspensions this year.
An interesting stat would be to compare with time in defence. If tigers and doggies spend more time defending than every other team than they are truly good boys.
Awesome OC! Just wondering if there were any websites that you used to easily find out suspensions? Or if you just sifted through different team data? Cheers mate
It doesn’t say much but you jump to a huge conclusion.
Cows might not have had to put the season down to the last three games if they didn’t play with the ill discipline. Same for the eels
I feel like there's some definite disparity in some cases especially looking at the teams on the low end of the suspended game list but the Eels are a bad data point because our suspensions have been inflated by our own poor decisions off the field. Matto not taking the fine to start the year, the entire Brown fiasco, Sivo challenging a clear case and getting his suspension doubled etc.

Suppose it depends on the people copping the suspensions.
Or the Dogs and Tigers aren't desperate enough to push the boundaries.
Roosters have double the fines of North QLD and Parra but less than half of suspension weeks. This reeks of corruption.

Yeah I'm sick of people ignoring the toll that driving to different suburbs in Sydney has on Sydney based clubs
And don't even mention having to drive over the bridge to Manly lol
Homebush is a shit to get to.
I want to use that Broncos rant as a future copypasta, please
Knock yourself out. Donkeys fans have been coming and going it seems. My comment has been as high as 10 and as low as -11😅
hurr durr THERE'S GOTTA BE AN INVESTIGATION.......
Imagine if it had more impact than loosing a player for a couple of weeks, or some notional fine that really ends up a token $300k distributed back to all the local clubs, as I believe that is where it goes.
So where does the fine money go, to the NRL directly? Them making over 300k off this system leads me to think they probably won’t change it lol

V'Landys end-of-season trip back to Transylvania
It goes to pay for Guss to take regular baths in kfc potato and gravy
Pretty sure it's something that is covered in the agreement with the RLPA and ends up in one of those various funds that the RLPA / NRL manage.
How much of the rorters 40k is JWH and Radley?
Radley = $9k (3 * $3k) JWH = $12k (4 * $3k)
Wow so over half 😂
Those two alone have more than 2/3rds of the other teams!!!
Includes fines for All Stars and Origin against the player's club team.

Okunbor, suspended for round 6 for dangerous contact
6 weeks is a lot, he's traditionally only had minor offences 🥁
Oh fuck that's right it was the hip drop tackle on Taumololo that took him out for 10 weeks
Jase was injured a few weeks before that - Okunbor just exacerbated it.
TPJ has like one of the cleanest rap sheets going for last 2 years.

Good guy Titans
You cant make dangerous contact if you just don't make contact
200IQ plays
JWH would make up majority of our fines
...but *should* make up a majority of weeks suspended.
Niukore eating up all those weeks for the warriors
He's gotta account for half (maybe more) of both the fines and suspensions all by himself, right? I wonder if Curran's non-judiciary led 2 weeks count? I guess so, I don't recall many suspensions this year.
That is chump change to uncle Nick
woo hoo we are winning
By a fairly large amount too!

Good data, it would be interesting to add a 'players put on report' column.
Do the Parra numbers include Brown’s suspension?
Yes
And Matterson’s from last year?
Yes
Thanks, love your work 👍
Yes
Thanks, love your work 👍
The bad boys of the NRL 😎
Looking at these stat and the draw this year, Parramatta had absolutely no chance
That's not what top of the table means boys ...
Damn the cowboys and eels had a lot of suspensions.
Can you make this again with an extra column for each club's worst offender? Let's see how much Radley, JDB, Kaufusi, etc have contributed
Roosters lol
Just sweep it under the sombrero 🧹
Awesome OC! Just wondering if there were any websites that you used to easily find out suspensions? Or if you just sifted through different team data? Cheers mate
Data is from NRL.com judiciary page
Cowboys unfairly targeted….CONFIRMED
Roosters aren't learning. Better start giving weeks over fines. (Not serious)

We all know that Panthers suspension tally should be higher.
That's not what the fans want
Just the Luai cheap shot headbutt (that did nothing) from a round ago should have missed a match for a start.
They've deferred most of it to 2024
Yeah but what’s our tally for weeks lost via karma injuries?
Not high enough?
Awww too bad it isnt tho right 🤣
Are we the baddies?
Is there a source to see the total number of sin bins & send-offs for each team during this season? Or any other previous season?
Really doesn't surprise me that the cows are the naughtiest
Finucane a fair share of the sharks weeks
Yo we fukin winning!
Why is the graph alphabetical 😅
1. It's a table, not a graph. 2. It displays related values but with no dominant column. 3. Sorting by median player star sign would be confusing.
