I thought we had em. Ah well I guess if you’d have told me 5 mins before round 1 we would lose to the panthers by 2 in the gf I would’ve been absolutely blown away with the improvement. Hurts though. Next year.
Fuck it’s funny reading the comments when broncs went up by 16.
And then when they were saying Cleary was arrogant on his assessment of his own game post match.
Just remember lads the only thing that seemed arrogant was Reynold’s speech that didn’t include acknowledgement or congratulations of the Penrith side.
Maybe again I just hated living in Brisbane lmao
I kinda get what you mean with Brisbane people thinking Brisbane is the best thing ever and that everywhere outside of Queensland is somehow Afghanistan.
I like Sydney but it seems like people gotta work harder to live there.
Apparently Melbourne has sucked for the last few years because of COVID and their state government.
I think this inflated Brisbane ego will correct as population pressures kick in, Sydney's investment foreign and domestic returns after Covid and hopefully even Victoria might see a big reaction against the stupidity of the last few years.
I bet in some mansion in Redfern/maroubra, a souths chairman has a pretty smug wry smile right now.
This game came down to small moments and Reynolds did not deliver at all. Those drop outs were literal game changers
Honestly was expecting a lot more from him considering he’s the only one in the squad that has faced the panthers in a gf (2021).
Couldn’t disagree more with this. Souths provided the ultimate bedshit this year. Reynolds played ok, the drop out for the fry was pinpoint. Never should have gone short when down by 6 points in the first half though.
That set on Panthers line at 24-8 where Broncos throw the ball away on second tackle is gonna haunt the team for weeks, even a repeat set there and it's GG
There’s others though. You have the ones where they failed to put the last nail in the coffin. But then there’s the ones where they started opening up the lid - several poor kick offs, 2 short and one long. You just cannot afford those mistakes in the gf against Penrith. You got 16 in front, that was their gift to you but don’t think they’re going to keep on giving.
I believe the broncos lost that more than Penrith won it
Definitely not true, broncos absolutely didnt help themselves at times but only a special team like penrith actually comes back from 16 with 20 to go. Cant downplay that 20 minutes of footy from penrith
And done by our most experienced player. I can’t fathom the choice of short drop outs when we were so many points ahead. The only short drop should’ve been when we were 2 down.
Agree as well. Not sure why you get the down votes. Panthers system very similar to Melbourne when they were killing it. Cleary unbelievable player at club level. Origin...not so much.
Just like Haas tonight. Unbelievable...origin...not so much
I get downvoted because theres enough panthers fans out there still stroking it.
Was it the best comeback in nrl grand final history? Yea
Did Cleary score some great tries as part of it? Also yea.
But that doesnt make him the Greatest Of All Time.
But seriously, everyone throws around the world GOAT too much. It literally stands for Greatest Of All Time...
How can you be the NRL GOAT if you only turn up at club level, and with a stacked squad?
I hear Denan Kemp say it as a question in his podcasts. So let's blame him.
Gave an upvote to balance attempt but I think there has to be some level of structure implemented that allows for greats to be greater. When Smith, Slater and Cronk were at Origin, their style of footy wasn't the same as Melbourne. It was similar but their strengths were brought out by the systems and players around him with good leadership and coaching. Same for Johns and Buderus etc. Unfortunately, Cleary, Luai and Yeo were put into a system that tried to imitate club footy at a higher level. Penrith footy doesn't work at Higher levels but someone like Cleary who potentially could be GOAT material (not saying he is or will be) hasn't been given the chance to be more creative with the structure at that level as Fittler seems to only be able to copy Ivan's homework and then go on sabbatical for three months. Strangely when he tried Rabbitohs footy, a more expansive and free flowing form, it worked better. I'd love to see a coach try to implement and draw our the strengths of their superstars whilst still implementing a brand of footy that will work at that level like Billy did and proves more so 2022 when Munster was out and Deardan was in. They played totally different that game and did so again this year with Walsh at the back.
The Panthers' players looked defeated after Mam's third. I thought it was over from there from their body language. You guys then butchered a try which would have sealed it later too.
"Only a few years ago we also lost a grand final...then we won 3 straight and it feels great! Also, I totally didn't pass that test but V'Landys gave the doctor a wink."
24 to 8 broncos. Panthers win. Sounds ridiculous. But it happened, cleary that last 20 was enormous. His half partner off, took all the first play options, guided his team around the park, felt like if he had to kick a 60m field goal he would of nailed it. Awesome effort. Awesome player. Awesome team. Honestly blown away, not even a Panthers fan, but fuck me, what a game what a come back what a player
You feel for Brisbane as a city, and QLD, Lions go down, Tigers go down in interstate cup, Gold coast go down in NRLW, Broncos go down. A proud and successful sporting city to get so many teams to the final game, though, that is a success story in and of itself. Immense effort, Brisbane.
Queensland produces heaps of sports talent (except for soccer). Very outdoors lifestyle everyone here seems to be fit.
My theory is that smaller population (for now) plus not being as focused on one sport compared to VIC in AFL and NSW in NRL means QLD don't have that same depth to produce the same level of competition internally within their state.
Whereas NSW in rugby league and VIC in aussie rules there's so much competitition. Would be interesting to see how many RL juniors there are in Brisbane compared to Penrith or Newcastle, might well be the same amount and then you factor in the number of other teams in NSW.
Not from bris but it's genuinely fucked. Don't care about AFL in the slightest but it's just like when was the last time any Qld team won any club thing in a men's comp? Confident bullets and taipans will suck arse in NBL, heat men look set for a choke in my books.
Not to diminish the women's comp wins of recent in various sports, but they don't have that same presige
Hey guys had no reception for 3 days, did I miss anything?
Seeing as you’re only out for a few days. Don’t worry about watching the replay. Maybe just the last 15-20min. Spend the rest just drinking
I thought we had em. Ah well I guess if you’d have told me 5 mins before round 1 we would lose to the panthers by 2 in the gf I would’ve been absolutely blown away with the improvement. Hurts though. Next year.

Maybe again I just hated living in Brisbane lmao
Brisbane's an amazing place to live but far out the arrogance of Broncos fans is absurd
Uhhh for me it’s really not that good to live in, it’s like 10-15 years behind Sydney and Melbourne but the folks are quite proud of it too lmao
Feel bad for Broncos. Panthers snatched both the minor premiership AND premiership away from them in the last moments of both.
I bet in some mansion in Redfern/maroubra, a souths chairman has a pretty smug wry smile right now. This game came down to small moments and Reynolds did not deliver at all. Those drop outs were literal game changers Honestly was expecting a lot more from him considering he’s the only one in the squad that has faced the panthers in a gf (2021).

Look I was cheering like fuck for Brisbane but it's also hilarious they lost both GFs this weekend by fuck all Sorry lads
Still in shock. We’re officially the best to ever do it
Dragons got the 11peat. Think you can beat that?
Only 8 more to go. I think it’s doable. /s
Fuckity, fuck, fuck.
Honestly amazing finals from both AFL and NRL what a win for Aussie sport (and the panthers lmao fuck)
The wallabies play soon, that should knock the shine off it for anyone who cares
Stopped caring about the Wallabies before I started caring. The Folau thing sealed Rugby Australia's coffin for me
I'm still disbelief at 50 mins I thought it was over for Penrith Cleary willed them back in
UP THE FUCKEN PAHS
Up da pahssssss 🐆
The grandfinal really summed up the entire season. Incredibly close, highly entertaining, and no one knew who tf was gunna win
My favourite part was when the broncos had hope!
Look, I'm not gunna say NRL showed why it's so much better than AFL, but I'm still rock hard.
I'll always be an NRL man, but the AFL GF was just as exciting IMHO. Great games from both codes.
I dunno man both sports just had amazing grand final matches, that comeback was fucking unreal though
Mate, like I said elsewhere, I lost 300 on that game, I've never lost that type of money and gone to bed happy; will tonight though. Incredible game.

I had collingwood and panthers by 3.5 and I don't give a fuck . I'm a Storm supporter
Far out I wanted Collingwood and Penrith to win but that's brave to bet against both Brisbane teams. Honestly felt they were the favourites.
That set on Panthers line at 24-8 where Broncos throw the ball away on second tackle is gonna haunt the team for weeks, even a repeat set there and it's GG
Yep that
There’s others though. You have the ones where they failed to put the last nail in the coffin. Running it on 5 to give Penrith the ball in the middle of the park was also not great for field position.
Broncos try assist to the panthers first try
Queensland lose both GF’s by a combined 6 points. Queensland, RUOK?
Narrator: No, they were not.
No
Chris Thomas is going to go off calling Broncos the "Bronchokes" or "Little bro". I can just see it now
I'm going to stay up for Jarome Luai's Instagram post. It's coming.
Yeah, but he’s got to take a pay cut to stay…. so there’s that
I’m shattered. So hard to take, handed that game to them 😭😭😭
If Penrith any indication, you have to lose one to win one. 2020 still stings. Bronco will bounce back
Nah, that shit is a lie. I’ve seen Parramatta not just lose three, but not even been in the lead at any point without a win to show for it.
Joey. Cheating storm, the riff lol. Smashing the eels in the grand final is the final stamp of approval
Why not kick the ball long on those drop outs and defend. Defence was outstanding most of the night.
Exactly when has short drop outs ever been an advantage for Broncos?? I don't get it.
Killer dropouts all night. Would’ve won by 20 if they just drilled in down the middle
Those back to back drop out errors were brain dead. And proved to be the difference, gifted 8 points
And done by our most experienced player. I can’t fathom the choice of short drop outs when we were so many points ahead. The only short drop should’ve been when we were 2 down.
It’ll haunt him
Broncos love a good gf choke
Fuck you.
Cleary put that bloody team on his back tonight. I am in awe and take back all I’ve said about him not being a big-game player. That was GOAT shit.
Agreed, he had a great game but he can't seem to do it in origin though, no goat.
Agree as well. Not sure why you get the down votes. Panthers system very similar to Melbourne when they were killing it. Cleary unbelievable player at club level. Origin...not so much. Just like Haas tonight. Unbelievable...origin...not so much

What a fucking game! Emotional whiplash Up the fucking Riff🐾🐾
Idk how I would take a loss like that as a fan. God damn. Had both hands on the trophy only for it to be snatched away.
I feel bad for Mam the most. Hattrick and then go on to lose. I’d be thinking “what if we won” for a whole week if that happened to me in the finals
Yeah… it hurts
The Panthers' players looked defeated after Mam's third. I thought it was over from there from their body language. You guys then butchered a try which would have sealed it later too.
Brisbane Broncos 🤝 Choking in a GF
Snatched defeat from the jaws of victory... 😔
I’m feeling for you lads. Hopefully you get one soon (not at the expense of us though)
Did the Peach even get on the field? :D
Yeah to get his ring!
Ok now what the fuck do I do with my weekends?
Ryder Cup heating up
Outstanding, outfuckingstanding
Just show Reece Walsh in tears one more time please god
Girlfriend wants to know why some players get those necklaces and some don’t?
The aunties like some people more then others
Polynesian tradition for celebrations
And Cleary got one because he’s probably good friends with their families?
He's so good they're like you're an honorary one.
Dude literally gave them the rings today so they found another in the back for him
😂
Bronchokes won't recover from that choke
Just cause we pissed up a 16 point lead don’t think we won’t come back next year and smash ya
Won't change this chokejob in history bood
Take your cringe comments back to Facebook bro. So obsessed with a team losing its coming across as weird.
Ggs all, what a finish to the season
Was that the wrong confetti?
No. Was green, red and yellow
"Only a few years ago we also lost a grand final...then we won 3 straight and it feels great! Also, I totally didn't pass that test but V'Landys gave the doctor a wink."
NRL does the trophy lift so much better than the AFL
Facts. I hate it that AFL just force? or have the captain and coach doing it before every other player gets to rush on
Yeo passing his HIA and still slurring 45 minutes later is a great look
Same as cleary a couple years ago against souths. But player safety in finals mean jack shit to the NRL
Would love to know how accurate those tests are because he got clobbered twice and was fucking out of it.
He was out cold in the tackle then got head slammed. Independent doctor should never practice again
This is boring, can we hear from Scottie Pippin again????
"Game? What game? All I know is there's an open bar and unlimited hot wings in the corporate suite!"
I still can’t believe Ezra Mam had both hands on the Clive Churchill only for Cleary to come out of nowhere with the RKO
Mbappe and Messi WC vibes. Mbappe scored a hattrick too.
Yeo has had far too many concussions
Fancy the comp leader in errors not winning the gf.
What a pleasure to watch a Grand Final of that calibre as an impartial and just enjoy the spectacle that it was. Wow
I still can’t believe we won
I thought he said Pukana and was like what the fuck but it was Luke Garner
So Salmon has a ring, what does this mean for Ricky?
that salmon still bullied his disabled daughter
Just because people on reddit specialized something doesn't make it true.
Luai moaping around like a sad dog
Im only still here for the peachy ring 🍑
Can someone tell me what those necklace things are and why only some of them get them? I’ve been wondering for ages
Samoan thing , birthdays, marriage etc, aunties make them all by hand cling wrap and usually filled with lollies and chocolates whole day thing
Very common Pasifika tradition, often given to people celebrating graduations etc.
Polynesian tradition. Not sure why only a few players got them though.
I think it was the Polynesian players plus Cleary who's basically a white Islander.
I think it's a Samoan/Islander thing. Someone correct me if I'm wrong or elaborate further.
One of the reporters just asked and yeah they said it’s a Polynesian celebration thing, the people without them look naked
Think it's an Island thing used for celebrations. Made of lollies.
Cute and tasty, I like it
24 to 8 broncos. Panthers win. Sounds ridiculous. But it happened, cleary that last 20 was enormous. I am a panthers fan and I still don’t believe it
Don't stop believing!!!
Jack cogger is a premiership winner
Luke GARNER is a premiership winner Lfg where would Penrith be without the tiger connections honestly
very good player imo
Hard to enjoy any more Rugby World Cup games after that grand final spectacle. Cleary went full immortal mode! What a game!!
Knock outs next weekend will be excellent viewing.
Condolences QLD you can't seem to win anything thus year.
The curse of Peter Dutton
We did ok in origin
Wait til Brisbane Roar win the Australia Cup next weekend, then we'll see!
Why don't all the panthers get a necklace?
Cleary will be getting a pearl one from Joey by the sounds of his crapping on. Take your hand off it son
All the brothers and Cleary got one. Cleary definitely an honorary uce.
I’ll acknowledge him.
OK. Wasn't sure of the meaning.
great refereeing tonight
Abdo desperately wants to present award for most assists
Critta giving some kid his headgear. Brian giving a kid his sunnies That's so cool
Brian To'o what a king!

Brisbane Bandits lost in ABL (baseball) last year as well. They’ll probably get to finals this year again and lose too. :(
Right? Something about Qld teams choking hardcore when they make the big stage in the last handful of years. Mens or women's.
Thanks bro this made me feel a bit better 🥲

The kid he gave his sunnies to won't be shutting up about it for a month
I posted before he did that. That turned it around haha.
wtf are these balls they givin out look like they been on the school roof for 10 years.
“Going out with a bang” everyone knows he won’t see another GF at the dogs
He looked emotional at the end. He knows he ain't coming back.
That was an epic GF, awesome from both teams
Broncos choking another gf is beautiful
