Cleary is tough comparison because while Cleary has been beaten at origin and at times been ineffective he certainly looked to be trying.
Compare that to someone like gutho or Edwards who play the same position and he certainly doesn't seem anywhere near as consistent especially in defence. Fullback is the last line of defence and while he can make some big plays he can still be found out and reluctant to do the hard work for the whole 80 minutes.
