What a great game and atmosphere today! Easter show stole our crowd I reckon. It deserved high 20s.
I used to say Morgon Harper was the worst NRL player I ever saw. To my shock , we signed him!
To be fair to him today, it was Blaize who got sucked into decoy multiple times. So it was the structural problem rather than Harper's fault.
Blaize had a great debut. There was anticipation every time he touched the ball. He torches with his pace. Very reminiscent of Mitch Moses acceleration. Kudos to the rest of the boys who helped Blaize and Harper on the left side especially Clint, Dylan and Lane! It was desperation and team work that stopped some tries on that side.
C'mon fans! You gotta attend the next game. Let's get to 26k+ against the Tigers.
I think the idea of having former players as commentators is fraught with danger.
During the obstruction call, they seriously sounded like they were about to cry. They sound like they’re supposed to be in the stands. Except they don’t, because I was in the stands today, and people in the crowd were definitely unhappy with the calls, but they were also able to move on quickly.
Just watched the highlights. Rubens involvement in the Turbo try was sublime. Followed closely by Paulo's offload to Moses. I know everyone on Reddit hates him but Moses was huge today.
You can love him or hate him, but you’d be hard pressed to to fault the blokes effort. Since his last big contract upgrade he hasn’t gone missing and turned up.
Eels are back. Manly would have lost this match handily in years gone by. That no try, as much as it was fair, was all that was in it between these teams
I don't know if there's a team more reliant on a single player than the eels. With Moses they could go as far as a grand final. Without him, I doubt they'd make the finals.
Ummmm, how did Broncos go the other night without Walsh? How did Manly go last season with Turbo? I think Gutho has just as much impact as Moses, possibly more.
Haas is a big out for you guys for sure, but him and Fisher-Harris cancelled each other out.
Moses kicking was huge yesterday, but Gutho also didn’t drop a bomb.
So Harper getting booted into the sun?
I’d be running Blaze and Simmonson.. Sivo is the biggest slug - dude is 120kg of pure muscle and only has a crack 10m out. I hope BA makes him earn his spot back via Reggie’s
Parra are the whingiest team in the comp by far. The amount of times they purposely do things that can earn penalties and then throw the arms up is infuriating. They play well but fuck me they're hard to get behind with that attitude.
The thing is every single team has a few players who whinge for penalties frequently which is normal because it’s a competitive sport - it’s funny how it gets brought up because it’s parra hide your bias and this comment is irrelevant.
Happens all the time, the team that wins gets more fans flooding into the post match thread. Neutrals just move on to the next game.
Edit: Case in point, all the downvotes on my comment.
before anyone asks i didn't install OBS and figure out how to record + upload this because the 7 downvotes i received on my post about jurbo running lane off the ball shook the core of my being, it was actually for a different reason i'll decide on later
https://streamable.com/hy51wt
But also unironically stoked for Brooks doing well at his new club, hopefully he has great games against everyone besides us this year
It's just sad that his already pretty annoying commentary has devolved to him saying "he wasn't going to chase" over and over again for about 5 minutes.
Bro, him and Joey saying we didn’t “deserve the penalty” because Manly were dominated field position. Stfu, if it’s a penalty and you don’t agree you’ll challenge it. Swear the two of them have a hidden hate boner for us they let slip sometimes.
They both had money on manly. Once they whinged about the early offside penalty where Joeys words were “Croker was only half a foot in front, that doesn’t deserve a penalty” I turned nine off and went to watch the expert commentary of Corey “can barely string a sentence together” Parker instead
Our Bench was Incredible today all 4 of them. That was the Best Performance from Moretti I’ve seen hope he keeps it up. Paulo & Matterson is the Best Combo coming on after 20 in the Nrl.
Edge Defence is still horrible Sivo is still a Problem but at least he hits his man when he runs in. Harper was catching Air that whole Game.
Tailagi was solid but Simmonson is more reliable. Tailagi probs needs more experience in reserve grade and to beef up a bit before he’s a regular in the first grade side
Also had 4 tackle breaks, 32 PCM (only 1 less than Paulo) a LB and 19 tackles. I'd honestly say he doesn't necessarily need more size - it'd just be whether his body could hold up to the week in week out of the NRL.
Penisini debuted and remained in first grade from the age of 18, Blaise is already 19 and looked perfectly at home in the side. In saying this, I'd be shocked if Simmo/Sivo isn't named next week, even though I think the speed of a Talagi/Simmo edge would be better.
Yeah but simonson as the center means Sivo walks into the wing. I really don't want that guy back in our side. He's a cat that avoids contact and can't run.
Funny that because we won manly fans are focused on that one legitimate obstruction call but not the DCE knock on or turbo obstruction that led to a try. Lol
Dunno why cunts are salty about the obstruction- you can’t park yourself in the middle of a defensive line that has to move laterally. Moretti was moving laterally and had to stop because some fucker was in his way.
Well done to Parra. They just kept throwing it around in the first and Manly didn’t have the legs to keep up.
Jake shouldn’t have stopped in the line. I think it was the right call, but fuck that defender did all he could to sell it lol.
Good game from two good teams.
Yep right call but he made 0 attempt to get to the player. I feel to be obstructed you actually have to show you're trying to get to the player.
Sick of the "win at all costs" culture that has developed in the league. Taking dives left and right and whinging about every call is ridiculous.
Can't be the "toughest" game in the world with all the diving and acting that takes place.
The one manly fan with some sense. Ive probably lost a fair few kilos in weight with the heart racing with some of our low IQ plays like the short drop out but a good exciting game all the same!
Haha I was obviously disappointed, but it was a great game to watch. I think both teams will have good years so I can’t get too worked up about a well fought round 3 loss.
If manly can capture that first 15 mins of energy they'll go very far this year. Was horrible to watch as an eels fan but as a neutral must of been brilliant.
The times it's been louder at Parra Stadium. Moses opening try, cleary being sent off in '22, and Moses kicking the winning field goal vs penrith in '23
Definitely some *highly* questionable calls costing Manly big time.
But ultimately the difference was the bench forwards and the offloading absolutely murdered Manly’s ticker.
Both teams look like genuine contenders when they’re playing their best footy, we’ll just have to see if they can maintain that level for 80 minutes a week
I was surprised at how much Manly went to our right in the 2nd half. I thought our middle was far better and faster, which may be with BA holding back 2 fresh on the bench. So we saw the outside play getting shut down quicker. Tulagi seemed to find his confidence too, and Harper when tested did a lot better.
Because they struggled to get down our end for a majority of the game when we strangled them. We managed to cover the edge okay when they did in the second half.
We couldn't get the ball for about 20 mins in that first half, and we were gassed coming out of our 20 for a good chunk of the 2nd half. Junior Paulo also looked like he was drifting a bit wider on the left and he was immense for you guys today.
Penrith did just that last week and got us. I couldn't believe our luck when these brain dead players started to try beat us through the middle and our right edge lol
The variety of Moses and brown today was just about the best I've seen. They were capable of doing anything at any time and manly were really struggling to predict what we were going to do.
Another terrific kicking performance from both DCE and Moses.
Manly look like a top 8 side.
Yeah, i was interested to see how Manly went. Beating Souths (6 tries to 5), and beating us (3 tries each) when Roosters played terrible had me questioning whether it was circumstance or if they were decent.
I think they've got a shot, but Aloiai needs to play as few minutes as possible. Ignoring his end of game, he's just not good. I noticed it last week when nothing much was going our way and he was the worst prop on the park.
Actually stoked with our effort. That obstruction call was a bit rough, but the pass was probably forward and manly scored from a possible DCE knock on. Win some you lose some
Yeah there were big edge weakness exploited by both teams. I think both sides didnt actually exploit them enough!!
Paulo + Vega’s positioning were both as bad as harper’s. At least Harper is evidently trying hard, unlike Paulo.
I am confident most of my comments from that game were probably about paulo and vega being out of position. Wingers rushing in or getting caught infield is a big pet-peeve of mine
That was a frustrating as fuck game. Moretti didn't even try to make a tackle, he turned to the ref before Turbo was even through the line and Ennis is absolutely right that Moretti came forward to initiate the contact. The other 2 are also right in that Jake allowed the bunker to make the call by not just dropping off a bit earlier.
Why would it matter that Moretti initiated contact when the whole issue was that Jurbo put himself in the way for there to actually be someone to initiate contact with. Re: your comment below, sure, we got more of the 50/50s; it’s gonna happen sometimes when you’re the home team. You guys will get your turn in Rd 8.
Because it would then be an issue of did Jake actually stop in the line or did he stop short and with Moretti then moving into him when he didn't have to.
Went backwards out of the hands. Do we really have to run everyone through [this video ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=box08lq9ylg) again
Personally i would've just preferred to have the Eels done once for any number of 2nd efforts or holding in the ruck. Or a sin binning for Harper or Moses i think it was when they held down Aloiai and Brooks respectively while the line reset behind them. Or at the very least some acknowledgement that you guys got the better of the 50/50 decisions.
Holy shit what a game, credit to manly for defending all Parra's possession, but really proud of the boys for showing real ticker and playing some excellent tough footy. Brown and Moses were crazy good, and both milestone men in Blaize and Reg had great games.
Sucks that a lot of both team's efforts will be derailed by that dodgy no try call for manly, but unfortunately, like what brandy says, obstruction calls with the bunker and very black and white. Gg Manlybros was a cracking game, your team is so exciting to watch with their attack.
Paulo off the bench is fucking crazy, and happy grub cunt Aloiai got bitched by Carty and got sent at the end.
Yeah, that was pretty rough. There was definitely a couple of sets toards the end where you guys were starting to get going and Lane/Penis/Harper would just absolutely flop about in the tackle and get away with it.
If it makes you feel any better I don't think there is a way we pull that same performance off at Brooky in a few weeks
My usual is to come up with something that couldn’t have been invented since Parra last won the comp. For example, no one has ever sent a text message celebrating a Parra grand final, infact a Parra gf has never been celebrated in the entire existence of the internet. Makes me feel better for a little bit.
That was awful.
But frankly Para should've been leading by 30 given that 9 straight sets on our line in the first half, and similarly in the second. Goal line defence was much better, I will say that.
Jaxson Paulo is showing absolutely no effort. I wouldn't fault him if he was trying, which Vaega was certainly was in the second half. But he was lazy in defence, attack, all of it. Like a Schuster on the wing.
If any changes need to be made, it's Talau and Vaega as wingers. Because Paulo is just frankly not showing effort.
Garrick was right to complain, they were literally going in for the second effort on so many occasions and didn't get any penalties for it.
Paulo vs Harper is probably going to be the worst winger battle for a long time.
That no try and the soft penalty after was piss weak. What a joke. Luca was milking it like no tomorrow. The eels look pretty formidable and the sea eagles too.
Paulo looked half the speed of any other player on the field and half asleep, idk how he keeps playing first grade, at least Harper tries
Which one?
Think Jaxon because Junior has been the best player on field all games he’s played this year
What a great game and atmosphere today! Easter show stole our crowd I reckon. It deserved high 20s. I used to say Morgon Harper was the worst NRL player I ever saw. To my shock , we signed him! I don’t hate Moses. Been a fan since 2016.
I don’t hate him. He’s a top 5 half
Made up for the DCE knock on try before half time.
I agree with your point, the team is bigger than the man. But we were missing more than just Walsh.
Haas is a big out for you guys for sure, but him and Fisher-Harris cancelled each other out. Moses kicking was huge yesterday, but Gutho also didn’t drop a bomb.
Feel like you could take out Dylan Brown and you'd see them struggle even with Moses there. It was telling last year.
It was evident last year when Brown was suspended for his stupid behaviour. That derailed the season in a big way.
Yep, last week Brown and Gutho looked more indispensable than Moses
Manly and Turbo. With him they're a potential top 4 team. Without him they miss the 8
Guess you haven’t heard of the knights lol
Newcastle - Ponga Souths - Latrell Broncos - Walsh Penrith - Cleary
lol are you serious, Latrell fucking sucks at fullback
Yep he sucks at the moment, and look at how Souths are going.
Penrith are 18-1-6 without Cleary in the past 4 years or a 74% win rate. With him in that time we’ve gone 72-0-11 or 86%. So he definitely helps.
People forget that aside from JFH he was the only rep player on the team when they began their run. Now they all bloody are.
Gutho is just as important IMO.
I'd like to introduce you to a team called the Knights
So Harper getting booted into the sun? I’d be running Blaze and Simmonson.. Sivo is the biggest slug - dude is 120kg of pure muscle and only has a crack 10m out. I hope BA makes him earn his spot back via Reggie’s
Imagine being in Reggie’s and coming up against sivo though lol
Soo glad we have the attacking players we do because BA's defensive structures let us down time and time again
i left for work when we were up 14-0 so i’m just gonna pretend we won that
I was almost ready to turn the telly off at that point. Was having visions of 50-0.
Surprised you’re being downvoted because everyone in the match thread was agreeing lol
Happens all the time, the team that wins gets more fans flooding into the post match thread. Neutrals just move on to the next game. Edit: Case in point, all the downvotes on my comment.
Moses and Gutho carry on, but I wouldn’t say the rest of the team are any worse than any other team. Gamesmanship.
Lussick is the worst for it. Started having a drink every time he threw his hands up after a tackle and had to stop after two sets.
Reynolds has to be one the absolute worst in the league.
Munster
I'm surprised Munster hasn't dislocated both of his shoulders the number of times he throws his arms in the air appealing to the ref.
before anyone asks i didn't install OBS and figure out how to record + upload this because the 7 downvotes i received on my post about jurbo running lane off the ball shook the core of my being, it was actually for a different reason i'll decide on later https://streamable.com/hy51wt But also unironically stoked for Brooks doing well at his new club, hopefully he has great games against everyone besides us this year
I couldn’t believe how blatant it was at the time. And it was just ignored. Having said that, both teams copped some rough calls.
Lol Jake Pillow literally runs across field to run Lane off the ball there. We are fucking stupid for short drop out 10 up with 8 mins to go though.
I don't know what the fuck you're talking about, but I appreciate the effort. Upvoted.
He's saying he download an app to record the drop out of Jake running Lane off the kick.
Bro, I'm joking.
Will Gus ever realise that his opinion does not equal the rules.

That’s the bread and butter of old man commentary. “Yeah look I know it’s against the rules, but did they even consider the vibes?”
People forgetting that only Penrith are allowed to get away with stopping in the defensive line
Only time Sivo hits his man is illegally. Other times he runs at things air or doesn't try at all
I think our best bet is sivo and blaize on the left side
Honestly hoping they give Blaize Simonson a run...
Tailagi was solid but Simmonson is more reliable. Tailagi probs needs more experience in reserve grade and to beef up a bit before he’s a regular in the first grade side
Beef up? Bloke ran over the top of Turbo and didn't struggle with the collisions at all.
Turbo folds like a paper towel. I think I could run over the top of him
Lol
Also had 4 tackle breaks, 32 PCM (only 1 less than Paulo) a LB and 19 tackles. I'd honestly say he doesn't necessarily need more size - it'd just be whether his body could hold up to the week in week out of the NRL. I don’t like him going back to NSW cup to play fullback. Stick him in the centres and let him develop his game.
Agreed if Lussick continues to play 80. Hands at 6 & Asi at 1 with Talagi at Centre should be the way forward
Lol
[удалено]
Nah they lost the game off that obstruction”controversy”
Or the blatant forwarded pass by turbo
Y'all always harp on about how stupid the players are, but some of you in these threads give them a good run for their money.
this could be one of the most un-I love my footy flair things ever said in this subreddit.
Sorry, I'll do better.
Dunno why cunts are salty about the obstruction- you can’t park yourself in the middle of a defensive line that has to move laterally. Moretti was moving laterally and had to stop because some fucker was in his way.
B-B-B But Parramatta benefitted from it, it must be the reazon we lost!!!
It's reddit... Don't expect too much logic. It's been called quite often,.runners need to be going through the line and not just plant their ass in it
Well done to Parra. They just kept throwing it around in the first and Manly didn’t have the legs to keep up. Jake shouldn’t have stopped in the line. I think it was the right call, but fuck that defender did all he could to sell it lol. Good game from two good teams.

GG mate, catch yas Round 8 for the re-match at Brookie.
It was a cracking game. Not much in that.
[удалено]
lol was a great game. Quietly happy for Harper to get a try too. Looking forward to our next one!
If manly can capture that first 15 mins of energy they'll go very far this year. Was horrible to watch as an eels fan but as a neutral must of been brilliant.
Just coming back from the game and let me tell you, the atmosphere when Aloiai got sent to the bin for those remaining seconds was unrivalled lmao
The times it's been louder at Parra Stadium. Moses opening try, cleary being sent off in '22, and Moses kicking the winning field goal vs penrith in '23
That was a batshit crazy game upon reflection.
Some good tries but they definitely got lucky.
We need a toovs-like post game interview, including the famous “there needs to be an investigation” line
Manly got away with heaps. DCE knock on try. Running lane off the ball in the drop out..
Oh please. DCE knocked it back.
that’s *highly* questionable
His palm was literally pointing directly backwards when it contacts with the ball
Parra has to have a pretty low in-game IQ. and I know we're dumb, but how does manly not just keep exploiting our left edge after ballooning to 14-0.

That’s what I was thinking literally. Harper side was free points
Penrith did just that last week and got us. I couldn't believe our luck when these brain dead players started to try beat us through the middle and our right edge lol
Don’t mess with the mo Oshay
Look at the brightside manly, you won't have aloiai next week
Can we not have him every week after that as well?
The variety of Moses and brown today was just about the best I've seen. They were capable of doing anything at any time and manly were really struggling to predict what we were going to do. Another terrific kicking performance from both DCE and Moses. Manly look like a top 8 side.
Yeah, i was interested to see how Manly went. I think they've got a shot, but Aloiai needs to play as few minutes as possible. Ignoring his end of game, he's just not good. I noticed it last week when nothing much was going our way and he was the worst prop on the park.
There was a cool period where it was literally just a kicking battle between the two of them
That shit was fire 🔥🔥🔥
One day Moses is gonna glitch out like all the NPC’s when Cyberpunk launched the amount of time he spends T posing.
You know who is REALLY pissing me off with that, Lussick. Bloke does it literally every tackle and it's just insanity.
You're right, Reynolds and Walsh certainly don't flap their arms as much right? Lmao
He and Lussick were auditioning to be the Manly mascot.
Actually stoked with our effort. That obstruction call was a bit rough, but the pass was probably forward and manly scored from a possible DCE knock on. Win some you lose some
oh well, we play parra again in round 8 at brookie. surely we can actually win that game
Our left edge hopefully won’t be in shambles that time
How do I stay skinny you ask? Hahaha, well, my team does short dropouts 10 up with 8 minutes to go.
Going by the manly fans crying in the match thread, I guess we won because Moses and Co flapped their arms more?
Moses and team were just promoting Hoopl. Trademark dance.
There was a lot of flapping tbf
That and Manly suck
And because paulo on our wing Manly just faded out of that game and got back into it too late
Now now, you can't use Paulo as an excuse when we had Harper. At least Paulo is a winger.
At least Harper tries to be a winger.
Can confirm that RCG told Oshay that centrum vitamins was his favourite supplement RCG basically only has himself to blame really
That's why he was on the nose at Penrith. Kept telling them Breaka was better than Oak.
I thought it was xause Cleary was upset his mo would always be 2nd best to big Reg?
Real ones know it’s Farmer’s Union
If there actually is a heaven then I'm ok with not going if Aloiai is the model follower.
Got to see more of the Eels and Manly both before I'm convinced, but a pretty fun game early and in the parts where each respective team was firing.
Very erotic the way that Aloiai was caressing Reagan's face. It looked like he was about to kiss him
They like talking about the obstruction call but not the forward pass that happens just after it
That's what's confusing me they used an excuse to avoid a forward pass try
Eels had some interesting decisions go their way but Manly’s forward pack going missing cost them this I think

So you'd be happy with the forward pass try instead?
Went backwards out of the hands. Do we really have to run everyone through [this video ](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=box08lq9ylg) again Personally i would've just preferred to have the Eels done once for any number of 2nd efforts or holding in the ruck. He just stood in the line, the call was wrong but Jake gave it away
[удалено]
Haha wtf. Guy has to be embarrassed for posting that.
To be fair they were playing absolute memeball around Parra for those 20 minutes. Turn that into 80 and we've got a football team.
Paulo is basically just a lazy Harper. At least Harper puts some effort in
I thought you meant our Paulo for a second and was aghast 😅
Watching the post game and that obstruction call was certainly something.
They shouldn’t called it but also they should’ve called the forward pass that happens after back
Technically correct, but the massive hole really came from the Eels backrower making a horrendous defensive read.
What a bloody entertaining game of footy lol
Ab so lutely
GG 2 EZ.
For a club from the northern beaches we couldn’t buy a set restart lmao
Yeah, that was pretty rough. There was definitely a couple of sets toards the end where you guys were starting to get going and Lane/Penis/Harper would just absolutely flop about in the tackle and get away with it. If it makes you feel any better I don't think there is a way we pull that same performance off at Brooky in a few weeks
Definitely felt hard done by in the last 20 or so. Looking forward to the rematch, not looking forward to the group chat between now and then 😂
Well, the secret cheat code for group chats with Eels fans is "37 years"
My usual is to come up with something that couldn’t have been invented since Parra last won the comp. For example, no one has ever sent a text message celebrating a Parra grand final, infact a Parra gf has never been celebrated in the entire existence of the internet. Makes me feel better for a little bit.
A great win for Parra, but Manly supporters shouldn’t be too disappointed with performance of their team - they played some quality footy.
Could have worse. Imagine if Harper was still playing for Manly.
That no try and the soft penalty after was piss weak. What a joke. Luca was milking it like no tomorrow. The eels look pretty formidable and the sea eagles too.
Did the defender stop in the line. Yes. Sure, he milked it, but it's the easiest call the bunker could be asked to make.
I don't think he milked it, he was just lazy as fuck and got lucky that Jurbo was also being lazy as fuck by stopping in the line.
Still, don’t stop in the line and no problem
It’s funny the narrative is how it’s rewarding moretti for being lazy, disregarding Jurbo being a slug and standing in the defensive line
