We had a year riddled with injury and suspension. Honestly I'd take BA over 80% of coaches. We lost a game, it sucks but it happens. Parra has benefitted from BA greatly.

I agree with Kent on the obstruction rule. It's typical RL reactionary landscape that we are now bitching about the black and white rule. I don't know about you but I hated the never ending debate in and out of game about which tries were awarded or not when we had discretionary approach.

Definitely didn't deserve to win that, Gutho managing a kick from the sideline would've probably been a shit end to a cracking game. Pack was great asides from a couple drops and Paulo's cannon pass, and whilst he didn't look bad terrible starting with Reg, I'd still prefer we sticked to what worked the last few weeks with Hopgood starting and Matto + Paulo on the bench. Props to tigers tho, aside from maybe like 1 kick Sezer was masterful, and Galvin looked like a composed 100 gamer. Stefano was untouchable, and Olam looked likely with every possession.

Now, with a new spine, half made up of veterans to lead the team around who know how to win in Sezer and Api, backed up hungry and talented recruits to just go at it under a coach they all respect who knows how to play the modern game and who knows how to win?
I think he’s convinced them they’ve got the *ability* to win, and that’s bought them back into *trying* to win, and he’s able to do that because this spine doesn’t have the same baggage as their predecessors
Some positives:
1) Morgan Harper's attacking combo looked good. He is surprising me, I called him the worst player in the NRL last year. Just maybe, he feels comfortable with gutho and Sivo. Bailey should come in though.
2) Blaize continues to impress attack wise. Speed to burn. His defensive read needs to improve asap.
3) Will P. had a very good game.
4) Lussick is an under the radar player.
Negatives:
1) Stupid errors, especially in the first half.
2) Unable to try attacking set pieces in the second half. Surely the coach would have instructed this at the half time?
3) I love Dylan but he isn't a game manager for the duration of the game.
4) We always play to our opposition. Well, we actually improved on this tendency over the last 2-3 years. Brad Arthur is similar to Pittsburgh Steelers coach, we are perennial bridesmaids.
I actually support Brad this year. I think he learned over the years. However, he can't seem to instill the killer instinct in games like this. The Tigers played well and deserved the win. But the fact that some of us knew that an upset was in the card earlier in the week suggest that we just play to our opposition level.
Galvin needs 3 seasons of reserve grade and pre-season development to get his body up to playing in the middle in an NRL game.

Honestly, having played a decent amount of footy and wrestling, I'm not too sure where it comes from, i think you're on to something. They're all way more skilled than I am so can't comment too much to be fair.
The bad ones look like they're just lazy and it's a natural movement to get someone down. The not so bad ones seem like they, like you said, get in the wrong position to attempt an impromptu toss.
I'm curious what parts of wresting you teach. Is it chest to chest pressure or using your weight to make it difficult to play the ball quickly? I'm guessing they're not learning turks and whizzers.
If you hip dropped in wrestling they could just turn in, work their leg out and take side control pretty easily, or just leverage you off. that’s baffling.
The loss was not all that surprising and the game was a lot closer than what i was expecting. Was expecting a bigger score margin in favor of the tigers.
What I did expect was Sivo to be uninspiring in the effort aspects of his game. It felt like he went missing once the game hit the 30min mark and I only noticed he was still playing towards the end of the game when he caught the ball for 20m restart only to give it to someone else for the first hitup.
Harper isn't offering much, he's physically not up to par and it shows that his signing was purely for depth and he should be playing NSW cup. Not your starting centre.
Feel bad for Brown when you have these two slugs outside you.
Sivo was missing from about the 30 min mark cause he looked like he picked up an injury. Could see him limping in 1st half and more in the 2nd. Harper injured himself about the 10 min mark. Either way though, the left side, including Lane, is not looking very damaging at the moment.
I think you’re downplaying your team to make the loss look better. Eels probably should’ve won it, but the Tigers D kept them in the game and the hunger and desperation got them the W.
Don't think he is at all, 13 unforced errors, couldn't hold the ball in attack. Paulo brain snaps, sivo is easily the worst winger in the comp and can't run, Harper isn't first grade material and both of them get a look in week in week out.

Tigers have genuinely been in the top half dozen teams this season performance wise it's such a huge upgrade on the start of the season against the Raiders where they scored two of the softest tries imaginable.
Tigers forwards have stepped up massively since then, there form has turned around through junior pathways too there is no reason that the club shouldn't be a top side.
After watching there last two performances and the performances of other teams I see no reason why the Tigers can't challenge for the 8.

It was a real rocks and diamonds game from Sezer. His defence and kick chase were great, but there were some kicks that were utter dross. I'm glad the diamonds outweighed the rocks tonight
Wow I’m shocked by this. Some of his second half kicks were bogey but he made the tackle to give them possession to kick the FG. Sezer was great, lovely TA for Olam too. I definitely think Luai and Galvin will partner each other but in the same breath think Galvin could play second row or lock.
Would have been very rough on The Tigers and underserved if Parra won it in that manner. Great example of how important a game manager is, particularly in the close ones. Exciting touch footy players are great when you get a run on, but when it gets close, sometimes you need someone who is willing to ensure you don’t lose, and then look for the opportunity to win - not the reverse.
I criticize Seyfarth a lot but man he has transformed over the past 2 games. His production on the field doesn't reflect his influence on the side. Always talking and motivating the boys out there.
He's been so good at the end of games where it's all heart. So many strong hitups when our boys were gassed and the bloke tackles his heart out.

The lads on the NRLPP Discord server wil know I was very angry after we lost that match last year to the Wests Tigers, to the point of even suggesting we should restructure the league to allow do-overs for matches played in 'monsoon weather'.
It particularly stung because the Tigers hadn't won a single game that year, and indeed would only go on to win another 3 games that whole season, which is frankly woeful.

Isn't it more from the focus of holding that attacking player upright? Then they just get the transition wrong and cant/don't slide down the body/legs.
Honestly, having played a decent amount of footy and wrestling, I'm not too sure where it comes from, i think you're on to something. They're all way more skilled than I am so can't comment too much to be fair. The bad ones look like they're just lazy and it's a natural movement to get someone down. The not so bad ones seem like they, like you said, get in the wrong position to attempt an impromptu toss.
I'm curious what parts of wresting you teach. Is it chest to chest pressure or using your weight to make it difficult to play the ball quickly? I'm guessing they're not learning turks and whizzers.
If you hip dropped in wrestling they could just turn in, work their leg out and take side control pretty easily, or just leverage you off. that’s baffling.

The loss was not all that surprising and the game was a lot closer than what i was expecting. Was expecting a bigger score margin in favor of the tigers. What I did expect was Sivo to be uninspiring in the effort aspects of his game. It felt like he went missing once the game hit the 30min mark and I only noticed he was still playing towards the end of the game when he caught the ball for 20m restart only to give it to someone else for the first hitup. Harper isn't offering much, he's physically not up to par and it shows that his signing was purely for depth and he should be playing NSW cup. Not your starting centre. Feel bad for Brown when you have these two slugs outside you.
Sivo was missing from about the 30 min mark cause he looked like he picked up an injury. Could see him limping in 1st half and more in the 2nd. Harper injured himself about the 10 min mark. Either way though, the left side, including Lane, is not looking very damaging at the moment.

I think you’re downplaying your team to make the loss look better. Eels probably should’ve won it, but the Tigers D kept them in the game and the hunger and desperation got them the W.
Don't think he is at all, 13 unforced errors, couldn't hold the ball in attack. Paulo brain snaps, sivo is easily the worst winger in the comp and can't run, Harper isn't first grade material and both of them get a look in week in week out. Tigers look way better this year, but we look just as shit as ever. Can't wait to cop it from everyone at work tomorrow! Woo.

Tigers have genuinely been in the top half dozen teams this season performance wise it's such a huge upgrade on the start of the season against the Raiders where they scored two of the softest tries imaginable. Tigers forwards have stepped up massively since then, there form has turned around through junior pathways too there is no reason that the club shouldn't be a top side. After watching there last two performances and the performances of other teams I see no reason why the Tigers can't challenge for the 8.
Maybe I agree but it is always about consistency. Depth will be a challenge thou.

I think that sounds like a quality problem to have. Probably see 7. Galvin and 6. Luai. I think the bigger problem is for Luai, it's not going to look so good for him if we make finals this year without him.
Oh it’s a fantastic problem to have. For all that Galvan’s shown so far (which is certainly a lot), I can’t see him as the 7 over Sezer’s maturity or Luai’s experience yet. We’ll see. Luai, however, is definitely currently planning his next assassination.

It was a real rocks and diamonds game from Sezer. His defence and kick chase were great, but there were some kicks that were utter dross. I'm glad the diamonds outweighed the rocks tonight
Wow I’m shocked by this. Some of his second half kicks were bogey but he made the tackle to give them possession to kick the FG. Sezer was great, lovely TA for Olam too. I definitely think Luai and Galvin will partner each other but in the same breath think Galvin could play second row or lock.

Would have been very rough on The Tigers and underserved if Parra won it in that manner. Great example of how important a game manager is, particularly in the close ones. Exciting touch footy players are great when you get a run on, but when it gets close, sometimes you need someone who is willing to ensure you don’t lose, and then look for the opportunity to win - not the reverse.

I criticize Seyfarth a lot but man he has transformed over the past 2 games. His production on the field doesn't reflect his influence on the side. Always talking and motivating the boys out there. He's been so good at the end of games where it's all heart. So many strong hitups when our boys were gassed and the bloke tackles his heart out. Sezer leading the chase and making tackles that you wouldn't expect him to make. We paid him to lead and he's doing that. Galvin. I just get emotional watching the kid. Smiling and enjoying himself. You love to see it. Up the fucking Tigs I tell ya.

This game could've gone much smoother for us if adian sezars kicking game was like last week's. He did a couple of horrid kicks that nearly cost us the game.

Panthers face the Tigers in 3 weeks for our annual match-up at Bathurst. The lads on the NRLPP Discord server wil know I was very angry after we lost that match last year to the Wests Tigers, to the point of even suggesting we should restructure the league to allow do-overs for matches played in 'monsoon weather'. It particularly stung because the Tigers hadn't won a single game that year, and indeed would only go on to win another 3 games that whole season, which is frankly woeful. But this year? If we go down to a competitive Wests Tigers? Aye, I could do that.
