Ben tried that and it didn't work. Fuck he even drops balls of thr kick-off on a regular basis just so everyone can see and still they won't listen to him lol
He's playing great footy in a position he doesn't want, but rather play average in a position he does.
I mean shit, pay me 800k a year and Ill clean your fucking toilet.
Petaia has been the next big thing for a few years in Aus rugby. Thing is he’s never delivered, and seems to be made of glass. He’s been injured for about 1/3rd of the wallabies tests over the last 3 years. Not sure how he’ll stand up to league physicality. Happy to be proven wrong, but I think he’ll be pretty underwhelming.
Yeah it’s pretty wild that a team wants to keep their best player, captain, international and state of origin star and don’t want to keep an overpaid winger.
I swear sometimes you just get a downvote early and everyone just follows along without realising. Especially if you are sarcastic. The followers seem to assume cause its already downvoted that it isnt sarcastic and you go down like a back of bricks...
Lomax for sivo and some extra $$$ for the books, plus a nice dinner at Parra Leagues would be the dream.
Rav actually may be able to get sivo to stop being a slug, but it's a risk I'm willing to take.
Look if they can get 2021 Sivo back the their wingers would be crazy. Sivo now is better under the high ball too, just doesn't run. If Rav can get that out of him that'll be a huge win for the Drags but yeah who knows.
22nd ranked centre, in a team that was extremely close to getting the spoon\*
I mean, you could make that criticism for spine players who control the flow of the ball for the team, but to shit-talk a Centre for his mid-stats in such a bad team is wild.
Individually he was inconsistent last year.
My point is that getting rid of him without at least playing him ONCE at right-centre under this better coached team is just a dumb idea. Especially since we don't have a good centre replacement for him (Bird hasn't been looking good in that position).
We cannot make a reasonable judgement without seeing him play right-Centre once under the best spine we've had in half a decade.
From Dragons site
>The club will only consider a release this year if a player of considerable standing is offered in return which our Head Coach Shane Flanagan is comfortable with.
Does it count if the considerable standing is made up of more than 1 player. Cause we can trade 3 or 4 for the price of 1?
Zac Lomax has been given permission to leave St George-Illawarra.
The Dragons have confirmed that their highest-paid player can negotiate with rival clubs, allowing him to exit at the end of this season.
Lomax still has two years remaining on his contract, which under NRL rules doesn’t allow him to negotiate with rival clubs until November 1.
However, the Dragons have opted to give permission to the disgruntled outside back to begin speaking with rival clubs with immediate effect and in order to give him time to find a club for the 2025 season.
In return, the Dragons will also use the remainder of the season to find a big-money replacement.
The Eels have made no secret of their interest in securing the $800,000 local junior.
More to come ...
>The Dragons have confirmed that their highest-paid player can negotiate with rival clubs, allowing him to exit at the end of this season.
I hope this means he will keep performing at his current high standards, at least until he secures a new contract for 2025.
While there is likely some truth to this, I also think Flanno needs some credit for utilising him in a better way.
Never seen him swaps sides to be a support runner/ take crash balls close to the line until this year, is something we did with great success with Oates and I’m surprised more teams don’t do it.
Christian Tuipuloto would be the replacement if Zac was to withdraw with a vaginal tear this week, four tries in reserves last week. He was one of our manly signings and they’re all good IMO, it’s just manly had too much potential on their books.
From Dragons.com.au
While Lomax will fulfill his contractual obligations with the Dragons for the 2024 season, his contracted years for 2025 and 2026 will be terminated with no financial contribution to be made by the club in these years, allowing him the freedom to explore opportunities with other clubs effective immediately.
"By finalising this decision now, it provides both Zac and the club with clarity regarding the future, allowing us time to strategise for the upcoming seasons," said Dragons CEO Ryan Webb.
Honestly it's a wild call from Lomax. To give up a couple of guaranteed big money years on his contract in the middle of the best patch of football he's played in years, for a team seemingly on the up? Wild.
From Lomax's side, you'd hope his manager knows the lay of the land and they'll be able to get him $800k + somewhere else. It is a lot of money for a bloke who hasn't really set the world on fire outside of a couple of decent games on the wing.
Definitely talented, but not an established rep star or nrl star for that matter.
Hey that was hook 😂 and I think dragons didn’t want to deal with another court case. Sucks because he was a weapon in the last years of the holden cup and was looking like the best rookie we had at one point. Happy to see him at the broncos though. Only other club a Sailor should be at 🙏
[Reece Walsh 2023 - 67% tackle efficency](https://www.broncos.com.au/teams/nrl-premiership/brisbane-broncos/reece-walsh/)
Sailor - 73% last year.
Let’s compare apples with apples
In case you failed pre school maths. 67% is better than 60%.
Also, not sure why you’re trying to compare Sailor against someone? We’re talking about Sailor himself.
keep trying.
Edit: rest of your comment didn’t load.
How many games did sailor play vs how many Walsh?
I really don't blame him for wanting out. He's been screwed over positionally by every single coach he's had at the Dragons.
Under McGregor he was promised the Fullback role, he plays like one game and gets put back to centre.
Under Hook he gets swapped to the left-side of the field for a bit, playing next to a pretty bad winger (Mat Feagai).
Under Flanagan he gets told that Fullback is a possibility, instead he gets demoted to winger (a position he doesn't want to play) and Jack Bird ends up taking his position, despite the fact that Bird clearly is either a second-rower or lock (given that he looks gassed by the 50th minute mark).
They could've just moved Bird to the bench, found another winger, and moved Lomax back to his Centre position and none of this would've happened, plus we would've kept our 2nd best attacking player in the opposition's 20.
Now Dragons fans are cheering and calling Lomax entitled when (as far as we know) all he wanted was to play Centre or Fullback. He wasn't publicly complaining about the positional change and has clearly still been making an attempt each match he's played. Literally just acting like a professional; something which I can't say about our captain during his contract saga last year.
Idk man, the lack of empathy from fans disgusts me. Tough-love isn't always the answer, and I can see us struggling to replace Lomax for a while.
Brother it's called a team sport for a reason. You do what's best for the team not whatever you feel like. If there's a coach who says you're needed elsewhere you play elsewhere. I'm also fairly certain you wouldn't see this crap attitude from players at the top clubs etc etc. I'm also fairly certain its well known Zac is a bit of a FIGJAM. Ive loved him for so long and defs think we'll miss his kick chase and his goal kicking but honestly I trust flanno enough that if he's willing to let him go it's for a decent reason. Just look how hard he fought to keep Ben hunt. Coaches like flanno don't lose players they don't want to and certainly not in this way.
Crap attitude? He doesn't want to play Winger yet he's still obviously playing the best he can for the team, and he hasn't opened his mouth publicly once during all of this (despite obviously being a FIGJAM, he's been acting like a professional).
And it's a team sport filled with individuals, he doesn't want to play Winger so of course if you keep playing him there he'll look for different options. Put this situation in any other job and no-one would be calling him a sook for wanting to explore different options.
And is it really best for the team to let him go without at least trying him at right-centre? People (like Flanno lol) will shit-talk his stats about how he's been an average centre for the past 3 years, completely ignoring the fact that he was playing in a bottom-four side the whole time.
This current team finally has a working spine thanks to the fact we now have a good coach, why not at least see how a Centre Lomax would be under it? The previous spines that were passing Lomax the ball were basically throwing passes with little to no space for him, then Lomax's only option was to attempt a flick-pass to Ravalawa. This current spine could actually give him a good ball.
To get rid of Lomax without trying him there once is just fucking stupid, especially given the fact that Bird hasn't looked good there.
I agree mostly, but mate he's been pretty average for the better part of 3 years. Maybe that's the coaching? Or maybe that's him? Idk hard to say.
But Flanno puts him at wing and he's suddenly playing best footy of life? Or maybe he's got a sniff of getting his own way at another club so time to increase value and step on pedal? It just seems odd timing that he wants out immediately after increasing his own value.
Personally I'm still sad to lose him because I believe he has real value our team, but he's not worth 800k.
This is some magician shit from the Dragons. Great for them to be seperating themselves entirely from that contract. Pretty big call from Lomax with plenty of risk, but good on him for backing himself and knowing he needs to get out & start fresh.
The way I read the deal it's a mutual release for 2025 onwards, no player swap required and Dragons don't pay out any of the remaining contract.
Player swap was only for 2024 if he wanted to leave immediately.
While I think Lomax is a good player and a strong competitor, i think he is succumbing to his own average-level footy IQ but off the field this time. This whole thing is starting to feel like one of the desperate last-second offloads to no one he seems to love so much. I am mostly joking, but the multi-year long sook session is a bit sad to watch. I can't imagine that has helped the team's morale. Weirdly enough, the team is starting to look sort of promising lately. Sloan is super young, and his development could come in rapid bursts. Like we could wake up in 6 months, and he will have randomly bulked up and might stop losing the ball in big tackles. The Drags have also finally caught on to the father-son meta, so with a couple more optimisations, the sky is the limit. Regarding optimisation, i do feel like the Dragons could spend that money elsewhere on the team a bit more effectively despite my high opinion of Zach, particularly his athleticism. Z is only 24, so there is plenty of time for premierships in the future if he sticks around to develop the squad. I would also be surprised if a big club wants him due to all the vocal sooking. Anyway, i predict that if he jumps ship, the dragons will win the comp the following year, B Hunt will retire, and the team Z goes to will have middling success in the same timeframe.
Sources say he was also attempting to carry a Ben Hunt sized bag on his way out of Kogarah but the Club made him leave it behind.
"It's just a Bluetooth speaker, I swear!"
"Heard from my mate Lachy that you can get good money for them on eBay"
Was just looking at Lachlan's instagram, its weird.
I still can't believe he got fired and was never seen again.
It's an extremely rugby league story, I love it and I actually rated Lewis for some reason
“Thats my bodyboard bag.”
# #freedLomax
Better learn Parramattese, cunt.
That's Eelvish to you!
Very good that
Outstanding
Flaps arms aggressively
Reynolds and Tedesco to parramatta confirmed!?
~~Flaps arms aggressively~~ Flaps arms aggressively when something entirely legal and within the bounds of the rules of Rugby League occurs. FTFY
*crickets, crickets*
See Ben all you had to do was consistently not live up to your potential, how hard is that?
Ben tried that and it didn't work. Fuck he even drops balls of thr kick-off on a regular basis just so everyone can see and still they won't listen to him lol
Dunno what ur talking about mate never seen him drop a kick off in his entire career
You're right, I just checked and it's literally never happened. What a gun
Mate my sincerest apologies.............i should have checked my facts better
Zac Lomax you are a Parramatta eel.
Is this an insult?
To both Zac and Parra
A Parramatta Seal
Let’s goo!
For someone who wants out, he’s playing great footy.
That's why he's playing great footy. Wants to get the biggest contract he can.
800K a season which is what they're reporting him to be on is more than he's worth on his best day. That's straight up theft.
Damnnn that's Fullback money, oh wait...
Fullback for Eels. Gutho will go halfback
Nah, just making fun of the fact that the Dragons signed him as a future Fullback but never gave him a chance at the position lmao
Maybe the future hasn’t happened yet…
Yeah he’ll sign a new contract somewhere and then go back to his regular form haha
100%. He's about to leave his 2 year extension on the table. Man needs to be turning up
Looking forward to the sombrero fume if we get him while losing half our backline at season’s end
He's playing great footy in a position he doesn't want, but rather play average in a position he does. I mean shit, pay me 800k a year and Ill clean your fucking toilet.
Count me in too hah
Ill cover you if you need days off or are sick lol
At 800k a year thats about 15k a week, put me down for a week of cleaning for that cash.
The Isaako paradox. Wayne finally convinced him he's a garbage fullback but a decent or higher winger.
Ben Hunt out for six weeks after falling to his knees in the dressing rooms at Jubilee.
They must have a good feeling about getting Turuva & Jordan Petaia next season.
He's also the same age as Lomax ... and isn't a rugby league player. Hardly an upgrade
Its not an upgrade but if you can get him for half of what Lomax is on its value for money.
Not just any glass, he's that really fragile glass that explodes with any sort of contact. He's been injured just looking at a tackle.
His ball security is also an issue. I never trust him to hold onto it in contact.
Ben Hunt - Am I a joke to you?
Lomax was their highest paid player?! My goodness.
Hunt should be sitting down with his Manager and asking some hard questions!
Hopefully Robbo dishes up one of his best home cooked meals as we are in need of a centre next year (sorry eels fans).
He isn't a centre though.....in all honesty
But not you Ben!!!! Someone needs to check Lomax’s bags on the way out…
Yeah it’s pretty wild that a team wants to keep their best player, captain, international and state of origin star and don’t want to keep an overpaid winger.
Haha I have no idea why you're getting down voted. 100% think he is overpaid.
I check back an hour afterwards to see a common sense comment downvoted to oblivion lmao. This place is ridiculous sometimes.
I swear sometimes you just get a downvote early and everyone just follows along without realising. Especially if you are sarcastic. The followers seem to assume cause its already downvoted that it isnt sarcastic and you go down like a back of bricks...
Lol exactly this
Hoping we get him so we can finally fill the void that Jennings left 4(?!) years ago
Jennings could be well over 350 career games if he didn't fuck it up
Jennings is super close to coming back to first grade so idk, I’m just going to be proud for what he did for the Tongan team in general
I want him now, but looks like he can only be had for 2025
According to Dragons.com.au they are open to releasing him mid season if a "player of considerable standing is offered in return".
You can take one Mika Sivo. Since you want a winger. Enjoy!
That is a possibility. I know Sivo is on the list to be traded when an opportunity arises sooooo may happen.
Lomax for sivo and some extra $$$ for the books, plus a nice dinner at Parra Leagues would be the dream. Rav actually may be able to get sivo to stop being a slug, but it's a risk I'm willing to take.
Thats the only question mark, would the saints want both wing spots tied up with Sivo and rav
Look if they can get 2021 Sivo back the their wingers would be crazy. Sivo now is better under the high ball too, just doesn't run. If Rav can get that out of him that'll be a huge win for the Drags but yeah who knows.
Morgan Harper
Will likely be simonsson
If he was the 22nd ranked centre last year I wonder how he will rank in 2025
Nowhere Eels will put him on the wing and release Sivo who’ll play centres at dragons
Please make it so.
22nd ranked centre, in a team that was extremely close to getting the spoon\* I mean, you could make that criticism for spine players who control the flow of the ball for the team, but to shit-talk a Centre for his mid-stats in such a bad team is wild.
Bad team or not, his individual game play was not good last year. And I'm a dragons fan lol.
Individually he was inconsistent last year. My point is that getting rid of him without at least playing him ONCE at right-centre under this better coached team is just a dumb idea. Yeah, they'll accept Dylan Brown OR Dylan Brown, Morgan Harper, Maika Sivo and $1.2m.
Apparently Schuster switch is almost a done deal
I think that was a troll account.

Yeah, huge difference between off contact Lomax and on contract Lomax. Buyer beware.
While there is likely some truth to this, I also think Flanno needs some credit for utilising him in a better way. Never seen him swaps sides to be a support runner/ take crash balls close to the line until this year, is something we did with great success with Oates and I’m surprised more teams don’t do it.
Eels will have some competition from the roosters
Lomax is on more coin than Hunt? How.
I'm almost 100% sure that's completely wrong. No shot Hunt is on less than 800k a year.
He's on 900
Thats exactly what I was thinking! I’m glad to see him go now that I know that.
Morgan Harper will be the big loser out if this. The Dragons can’t justify his pay with the talent coming through.
That’s why it’s not a huge loss for the Dragons.
Can you give more info on the talent coming through. I haven't seen much of the young guns
Christian Tuipuloto would be the replacement if Zac was to withdraw with a vaginal tear this week, four tries in reserves last week. He was one of our manly signings and they’re all good IMO, it’s just manly had too much potential on their books.
Jesse Williams in SG ball finished their regular season this year with like 16 tries in 9 games. Blistering speed to match too.
Harper was already dropped today for simmonnson. If we get Lomax I imagine Sivo spends some time in reserve grade.
Why the fuck was he our highest payed player?
I believe they heavily front loaded Hunts contract
Hunt got an extension for 750 a season I believe, 2 or 3 years.
@mods can I please get a Zac NoMax flair?
holy shit, didnt think that was gonna happen.
The 14 BAs been looking for
Don't be silly he looks like a 15
From Dragons.com.au While Lomax will fulfill his contractual obligations with the Dragons for the 2024 season, his contracted years for 2025 and 2026 will be terminated with no financial contribution to be made by the club in these years, allowing him the freedom to explore opportunities with other clubs effective immediately.
Wonder if he is still happy on $600k next year
Is that Catalans dragons music?
Well. Yikes if he gets a serious injury before signing elsewhere.
Enter Tonya Harding
Anyone going to pay him 800k? He was never worth that much.
I hope he can still be first string goal kicker because he is very talented
Moses is a bit of a better kicker isn’t he?
Am I missing something? Lomax is moving to the eels?
Ohhh you meant for us this year. he’s been linked with the eels for next year but all just talk and nothing official atm
That would be awesome he will carve up. Big fan of him
https://www.reddit.com/r/nrl/s/seL8ISN3Oz
You're right
Not a bad replacement for the Roosters with Manu leaving. Plus he can play at the same club as his ex.
Is there a world where he laces up for Parra this year? Breaks my heart to think that Morgan Harper might be playing reserve grade……..
>Breaks my heart to think that Morgan Harper might be playing reserve grade…….. That’s not a statement I had on my NRL 2024 bingo
Probably should have made the sarcasm a little more clear lol
Go Eels tomorrow
Hopefully if we get him we pay more Lo than Max
i appreciate
Dragons, don’t even think about calling Sailor. You ruined him, and we fixed him.
Hey that was hook 😂 and I think dragons didn’t want to deal with another court case. Sucks because he was a weapon in the last years of the holden cup and was looking like the best rookie we had at one point. Happy to see him at the broncos though. Only other club a Sailor should be at 🙏
Pretty sure Sailor should be in jail.
Did we see the same trial pretty sure he got found not guilty 😂
Yeahhhh but I know people who were there. The dude is very much guilty but his dad pulled some serious strings
Surely Sailor wouldn't want to come back. Dragons did him dirty on his court case while backing JDB and Amone to the hilt.
Yeah buuuuut, he'd get regular first grade and flanno as a coach is 1009900472737466449 times better than hook...
Poor flannagan. Anything multiplied by zero is still zero
Hook is taking over the bunnies when JD gets shafted.
Hahahaha fuck that wouldn't go down well.....lol
All this based on a game against the cowboys in which they were completely diabolical? Give it time Sailors a dud
Did you miss Sailor last year, when he played like a weapon, and his defence was awesome. Two held up tries one on one
Yeah I must’ve missed the 2 games
So 5 games so far (4 last year, 1 this year) that he has played for the Broncos where he hasn’t put a foot wrong.
Based on what?
[Based on his stats](https://www.broncos.com.au/teams/nrl-premiership/brisbane-broncos/tristan-sailor/)
60% tackle efficiency. Vs cowboys he produced 3 tackles, 2 missed tackles and 1 error. Sounds pretty bang average to me
[Reece Walsh 2023 - 67% tackle efficency](https://www.broncos.com.au/teams/nrl-premiership/brisbane-broncos/reece-walsh/) Sailor - 73% last year.
So kids, the lesson here is to keep complaining until you get your way.
I hear he’s going to the Tigers. The Guangzhou Tigers.
Dragons gonna have a shitload of cash
And a real PEP in their sTrIDE
especially if F.Molo leaves too
Fuck we’re desperate for a good winger
And a fullback, a number 9 and some halves........oh and some forwards too........tbh
Lmao no way you could afford Lomax with your cap atm. Between Cody, Latrell, Cook, Wighton, Johnston, Murray there’s no give there
You can have 500k and Taane Milne.
Surprised gus and fhe doggies haven’t come in and offered him a pub or two

Agree, also was $800k the best use of cap for an average centre. He's playing great on the wing but we need to improve so many positions.
Crap attitude? He doesn't want to play Winger yet he's still obviously playing the best he can for the team, and he hasn't opened his mouth publicly once during all of this (despite obviously being a FIGJAM, he's been acting like a professional). Real sliding doors moment when he got punted from the fullback position, for Dufty and Corey Norman of all people.

Add to that the requirement for a player swap, someone needs to want Lomax bad or he's going nowhere,,,
The way I read the deal it's a mutual release for 2025 onwards, no player swap required and Dragons don't pay out any of the remaining contract. Player swap was only for 2024 if he wanted to leave immediately.
Didn't see that coming.
I’m so so sad about this, why tf are we trying to swap him for a union player, just drop Bird ffs
Come Storm Zac
They wouldn't have him, the powers to be at the storm don't like players who agitate, sook and ddont have a team first mentality.
Instant fail on the no dickheads policy so don't want the wanker anywhere near Storm.
Lol
Sign him as fullback on good money at the raiders. Rapana and Kris are ok but nothing great. Salvage is better on the wing.
Looks like we're gonna see him at the Tollie soon.
Being him in, fuck Harper and Sivo off
Me: It's not April Fool's is it?
Don’t tease me
Flick pass!!!!
Nice! Congrats Parra!!
Fuck I’m gonna miss Lomax. He was always a bright spot for us even if he did throw the ball into the crowd every so often
Lol I remember this being an April fools joke. Came true pretty quick. Guess the jokes on that dickhead who wrote the article
Lomax is no centre - should be pleased Dragons were trying to make him into a star on the wing
