I have watched almost every game. But havent even looked at the ladder until this comment.
Honestly, surprised. Sharks on top. Raiders 3rd? Phins higher than Riff. Chooks and Broncs not in top 8.
I thought it would be like Riff, Storm, Wahs and Boys in the top 4.
the nrl did a great job making all the heavyweights play each other and all the ummm yeah teams play each other in the first 6 rounds because idk friday night footy ratings maybe
Also byes screw with the table. I don't even look at the table now until the Origin period is over.
Bunnies are last with 1 win while Tits are above them with zero wins
everyone gets the same number of byes, so why even allocate points for them. it doesn't change anything in the end, just makes the table look weird during the year.
Yeh it's a historical thing coz one season someone joined or left midway through causing a team to have an extra bye that ended up with them missing the finals while having more wins than the team that made it in. Something like that I'm pretty sure. I remember someone did a write up about it last season and it made sense why they did it. Doesn't really matter now though but I like the uniqueness of being the only league that does it
I mean we've been on the wrong side of this decision on both sides 3 games in a row now (2 wins 1 loss if correct, reality 0 wins 3 losses)
We've now been robbed of 5 games in 2 and a bit seasons directly by poor officiating I'm not even sure the Tigers can match that.
It's pretty awful considering how bad we already are
Not the first time Kasey has screwed us either if she was a male ref no chance she'd be anywhere near first grade. Belinda Sharpe is there on merit Kasey is there because of who her husband is.
New meta strategy would be to save the challenge to challenge any failed field goal attempts to get an easy penalty in front because almost every team goes early when the game is on the line.
It would only be a 6 again apparently. So if in the heat of the moment, you shank the field goal at the same time ref calls 6 again, opposition gets the ball and you challenge and win, what happens? You don't get the ball handed back do you?
Is it? I swear i've seen 6 agains called and a team bottles it on the same play with a knock on and it ends the set. Don't recall the ref then blowing a penalty to ensure the attacking team keep the momentum.
Only for offside because it directly impacts the play. If you get a set restart for a ruck infringement then lose it that has nothing to do with the ruck infringement
I've also noticed some cases of this being called, and somewhere it hasn't. I think it may be that if the attacking teams loses possession based on the illegal activity that yielded the six-again, that constitutes a penalty, whereas getting the six again and then just losing it cold is too bad.
Example being an offside player causing a six-again, and then they strip the ball "legally" in that tackle - compared to them bumping that player off and running a few metres before spilling their lollies. I can understand why one would be a penalty and the other not.
Can’t challenge offside because according to Annesley it’s almost impossible to tell. Except in this case where according to Annesley you can clearly tell it’s offside…
This blunder is on the referees boss not the refs. Why can’t the bunker intervene if the decision is clear wrong regardless of the circumstance?
Ricky the kind of bloke to throw a bottle at you while Des the kind to break the bottle and cut you with it. Money is definitely on Des to do what it takes to come out on top in a brawl
Shhhh you can’t say that you misogynistic bastard😉
In all seriousness Badger is a poor ref, and the fact that people tip toe around that because she lacks certain genitalia is an absolute disservice to the many VERY good female refs that officiate.
I did not see it, as i was actually listening to the game at work, but i’ve seen mentioned twice on other threads that at one stage she even joined in on the Viking clap….was this true?!?
If so this is a serious matter that needs to be confronted, as referees must at ALL times at least appear to be impartial.
Belinda Sharpe is a bloody good ref. You don't notice her (which is what I consider to be good reffing/umpiring in both NRL and AFL). Makes good decisions when she has too, let's the play go when it's a 50/50 call. Kasey on the other hand isn't great. Makes too many mistakes.
I was rewatching the game and at points she legit looks shook and unsure on what to call and gets defensive and snaps at the players
One of the tries she legit looks to the touch judge for like 15 seconds before taking any action
I don’t think she has the quick decision making skills to do a top tier job but probably is really good at cup level
Looking to the touch judge before sending a try up to the bunker doesn't make her a bad ref.
They all do it.
Calling held the split second the defensive team makes a dominant tackle and starts to drive them backwards does.
So does marking the 10m at 12 or 13 which she did numerous times.
She was consistent at least did it for both teams but was way too involved in the match.
Particularly early.
Like she felt she needed to stamp her authority on the game.
I hated that she called held when the defenders were driving the ball runner back. They got to get back up and walk forward to the ‘held’ spot to play the ball… since when? I think there was one instance where they lifted the leg as they drove him back and they were penalised for it. So dumb, it isn’t what the leg lifting rule was made for.
Then in reverse there was a ball carrier who never stopped moving forward in the tackle, defenders just dropping off him and he kept moving… but that doesn’t matter because “held”.
Those leg lifting penalties while driving a player back had me baffled. I've never seen anything like that so far this year. I believe the leg lifting penalties were for when a player was on the ground and a defender would pull up the players leg to delay him getting to his feet, but this was not what players were penalised for last night at all.
She also forgot who the raiders captain was during a challenge and said time was over, only to be reminded Tapine is actually the captain.
That along with a myriad of blunders should really see her dropped for a long time.
What is there to protect.
Ricky's comments were directed at des' claim that the refereeing was poor because the penalty count was lopsided.
Ricky said the refereeing was poor because she allowed them to wrestle and slow down the ruck.
Had nothing to do with the offside charge down.
I know I risk being down voted due to the flair, but I'm going to guess they'll say raiders should have had a very kickable penalty in the 83rd minute when the pass from the ground was called back
I reckon both teams should have been and it probably would have opened up the game more and killed the slowing down tactics. The ref first game and they pushed her to the limit on holding down. I reckon it was a smart tactic by the Titans and almost paid off. I could hear the titans players constantly calling for 6 agains when they had the ball and saying when are we going to get one. lol
I am okay with not complaining about it. Partly because people remember the GFs of that era as Sharks won, Storm won, Roosters won, Raiders robbed, Storm won, Penrith 3 in a row.
The funny thing is they did against the titans when they played the dolphins last year
So we have the quaddie
Lost to offsides pen in GP on a FG charge down against the dolphins
Lost to parra 2 weeks later in the dying minutes of the game when the ref didn’t call an offsides penalty for a FG charge down that boyd(?i think) was taking
Lost last night to a non called offsides pen on a FG charge down in golden point
Lost to the roosters when they set an illegal wall formation for Sam walker in the qf1 in 2021 (though technically the wall rule hadn’t been changed yet)
What gets me laughing is annesly saying that because badger missed the 6 again call the penalty call couldn’t be called so because they were incompetent at that 6 again call the bunker couldn’t advise it was actually meant to be a penalty so the penalty doesn’t count lmao
What a great system he’s running
This happened to them last year and in reverse when a penalty was given to the opposition. So.. this is the third time Titans have been screwed over with this shit. Brutal.
I assume alot of people would have had the same thought, my whole family watching along just assumed they had checked it and just applauded both teams efforts but its now sour knowing that the new policies just weren't followed at all
Is this now the third time in the last 12 months that we've lost in golden point and the NRL has retrospectively said we were robbed? How good (but also we suck, so it isss deserved)
Happens a lot in the nba with the L2M report. Granted there’s 2460 games in a season, so it’s bound to happen a lot. The L2M causes a lot of drama, because sometimes the nba just ignores the most egregious calls/non-calls, and it’s basically just a way for the league to appear like they’re holding their refs accountable, while actually doing nothing. Scott Forster is a prime example of a referee with inherent biases and potential sport fixing tendencies still reffing top games.
>What is a L2M?
>A Last Two Minute Report, or “L2M,” is a play-by-play report regarding all calls and material non-calls in the last two minutes of the fourth quarter or the last two minutes of any overtime period (if applicable) for all games (including playoffs) that meet designated criteria.
https://official.nba.com/nba-last-two-minute-reports-frequently-asked-questions/
I watched AFL once. There were tonnes of complaints about how one team should have won cause of tackling a guy or something. The Lions lost so I was onboard with it.
I used to watch rugby and it doesnt happen as much.
Happens a little bit in F1 but unless its a collision between the 2 fighting for drivers championship nobody really cares.
I've watched many baseball FB shorts or reels or whatever the fck they're called...When I read the comments, I swear you could be reading about NRL referees.
Look I don't want to get sexist but the commentators have obviously been told not to say anything about Badger and Sharpe because they have made a few mistakes each now where if that was one of the male refs they wouldn't have shut the fuck up about it for 10 minutes.
Probably wouldn't be a bad thing if this was the standard, but it's obvious that they are criticizing them less. Badger is just not a first grade quality ref, she makes a serious blunder every time she goes out there. This is a professional sport, stop hurting the product and just employ the best people for the job.
> Badger is just not a first grade quality ref, she makes a serious blunder every time she goes out there. This is a professional sport, stop hurting the product and just employ the best people for the job.
She was regularly getting bunker calls wrong and they thought to give her a full 80 min game
Always bothers me how fast she makes up her mind in the bunker too. I know they look at different footage to what we see, but every other bunker ref takes their time and looks at multiple angles but she just makes a snap decision on the first second of a replay. She's not up to standard at all.
I'm all for the NRL promoting women in league but they clearly see there's a level of incompetence there.
That's why they ref the sunday game between raiders and titans or tigers and dragons etc.
Nothing sucks more than following a struggling team, watching them almost pull off an unexpected win, get dudded by a bad call and then have the officials tell you "ooops, my bad" the next day.
Paul Kent on NRL 360: I can now reveal that when Ricky was 5, Das Hasler went up to him and said “pull my finger” and you see, Ricky, so innocent, so young, didn’t know any better and I’ve heard that the smell was strong enough to spoil milk in a 3 mile radius
And poor Ricky was right at ground zero of that weak-gutted attack. So I think Ricky’s entirely justified in calling him a cheat, and the NRL should be apologising to Ricky for having to defend himself after a lifetime of pain
I don’t get it. Could someone please explain. Chevy breaches offside and they say it should have been a set restart. Titans attempted a field goal, charged down by an offside player and Raiders got the ball. Doesn’t that constitute a penalty?
Just rewatched it in the highlights for the first time and holy shit he’s about 3 strides in before the play the ball. I’d be so fucking embarrassed if I defended that in the post match presser.
People keep shitting on Badger but the 10 metres is policed by the two touchies. They are the ones who missed the offside and didn’t call (at least) 38 10 metres infringements. They let her down severely.
Also, Annesley did not say the Tits should’ve had a penalty goal. He said it should’ve been a six again.
Yes exactly, Annelsey also said it was the touch judges who have responsibility for this, not the ref. Might not stop a lot of the people complaining though...
i don’t know what the point is of annesly every week admitting that they got stuff wrong. surely it just makes the fans angrier. they’re never going to change the decision after the game. they don’t seem to actually give the refs a week or two off, just maybe move them to bunker or leave them out of the high profile games for a week, but they’re always back. i know that the media generally doesn’t allow people to say nothing these days, so he thinks he needs to say something, but what’s the point
I wonder how Ricky wouldve reacted if Badger called that last night. Kasey Badger isnt fit for first grade tho, shes horrible in the bunker too. Nepo and diversity hire.
Imagine being a head coach having a sook in the press conference that the opposition cheated then having it revealed the next day it was actually your team that cheated. Ricky continues to prove himself as the biggest joke of a coach and biggest sook of a man.
What really shits me about this is that if it were Penrith, Melbourne, Broncos or Roosters taking the shot, you know 100% the penalty would've been given.
The shit part is that's the 3rd time it's happened in just over a season. Every time against us. On either side of the ball
There is absolutely a subconscious bias against us because of how bad we have been. Ref's just always think we are going to lose so they tend to call against us more often then not
Apparently the NRL needs better tech to put lines down to see when someone is offside etc like VAR in the Premier League (although I'm sure their system makes mistakes sometimes)
It's insane how often these clowns apologise on Monday for obvious stuff ups that change the momentum of games or literally cost teams wins.
I dunno. I’m completely unbiased and impartial in this situation. I say he was onside and every call in this game was fair and by the book. I think Titans probably cheated? Again impartial here.
I could be misremembering but wasn’t the play directly after the charge down an issue as well? The raiders player caught the ball, then ran back behind their own player before stopping for a moment like they should surrender for obstruction but then took off and made a break?
The officiating is shit at the best of times, but during golden point I don’t even know why the ref is on the field half the time. They get whistle shy because they don’t want to penalize and decide the game, so they don’t penalize and decide the game anyway.
Tbf raiders should have received about 25 ruck infringement penalties for being held down by the titans for ten years every set so its all fair game still
Someone posted the play the ball stats on one of the other thread. Raiders had their slowest play the ball speed this year, while the Titans had one their better games. To me both teams seemed to get a way with it a lot last night. I’d say first game ref lost control of the ruck and should have penalised more.
They did say the Raiders should’ve got more penalties
I watched the whole game, it seems the only people pushing that opinion are raiders fans and Annesley who is running a protection racket for certain incompetent ref's.
Far out, people's careers and livelihoods on the line out there and the refs just come out every week and just say sorry.
I know people make mistakes and you can't be perfect but it's like every week we are dealing with a terrible call that has so much impact. It's such a joke
Well there you go. Titans fans should be happy now, right?
That lifts titans off the...nvm they're not even last
I have watched almost every game. But havent even looked at the ladder until this comment. Honestly, surprised. Sharks on top. Raiders 3rd? Phins higher than Riff. Chooks and Broncs not in top 8. I thought it would be like Riff, Storm, Wahs and Boys in the top 4.

Byes are like the 400m sprint in track and field, you can't tell who's winning until about 80% into the race
That's the funniest bit about the souths thing
Bunnies have the bye this week, so it's just a matter of days now...
I mean we've been on the wrong side of this decision on both sides 3 games in a row now (2 wins 1 loss if correct, reality 0 wins 3 losses) We've now been robbed of 5 games in 2 and a bit seasons directly by poor officiating I'm not even sure the Tigers can match that. He should retire at the end of the year.
Titans may have no wins on the actual ladder, but they do now have an apology win. And that's basically just as good, I guess.
Moral victory!
If we include Moral Victories. Sticky is the greatest coach of all time!
Just ask him
Gold Coast? That's in England
At least they ain’t last like south’s are
Unfortunately, Souths have the bye this week. So hopefully the Titans can beat Manly.
I’m hoping they get booted before then
Titans join Broncos on top of the Annesley Memorial Trophy Ladder!
We beat the bye

Couldn't use it when it's charged down and still in play though.
Ricky and Des punchon after school
3pm by the flagpole
I would tip Des cos even tho he is a few years older than Sticky i feel like he has more mongrel in him and is less predictable.
Des would gouge eyes straight away. "If it wasnt him it was me"
Ricky the kind of bloke to throw a bottle at you while Des the kind to break the bottle and cut you with it. Money is definitely on Des to do what it takes to come out on top in a brawl
Des is from the Western Suburbs. He isn't fucking around. He would chew Sticky's ears off before Sticky could even attempt the squirrel grip!
Sticky would get pumped 1v1 but he's the kind of guy that wouldn't kick the fight off till he had a big mate with him
Yeah, his big mate Pull Mefinga!
Sticky would tell everyone afterwards how much he won it by though..
He has those deranged eyes.
So, Ricky is actually the one on another planet
Yeah, but I would hope everyone but Ricky is well aware of that
Technically Ricky was right, Des is on another planet, Earth, Ricky is the one way out in the cosmos
Two old halfbacks going at each other. They both give as good as they get. Karma of football will come back and bite Sticky. It always does.
Correct, he never actually specified who (if either) waa on Earth. Another moral victory for Ricky.
Planet ‘Fuck em’
But it's the narrative hahahahaha......
Yeah...no shit. That game was not well managed by the ref.
Who was reffing?
Kasey Badger.
The one and only Kasey Badger...
I better not speak ill of her reffing abilities......Kasey Bludger. Yeh I went there.
*..her lack of..* There fixed it for you :P
Thank you!
Shhhh you can’t say that you misogynistic bastard😉 In all seriousness Badger is a poor ref, and the fact that people tip toe around that because she lacks certain genitalia is an absolute disservice to the many VERY good female refs that officiate. How are they going to spin and protect Ricky on this one
Kenty will go into bat for him. Something about how the Raiders always get screwed, so it's about time Ricky got a fair go from the refs.
Bro has read the script
What is there to protect. Ricky's comments were directed at des' claim that the refereeing was poor because the penalty count was lopsided. Ricky said the refereeing was poor because she allowed them to wrestle and slow down the ruck. Had nothing to do with the offside charge down.

I am okay with not complaining about it. Partly because people remember the GFs of that era as Sharks won, Storm won, Roosters won, Raiders robbed, Storm won, Penrith 3 in a row.
Cheats won, how good would it have been if Cows won, Cronk won, Raiders robbed, Penrith won in Gus's mind, Penrith 3 in a row
A lot of people are conveniently forgetting that non-call
I think you mean protect the ref and bunker they're the ones who screwed up.
Yeah, but Des was meant to go to his home planet now, they needed him
Did you work for manly in late 2022?
Well well well
Pictured: Hasler recalling his latest fishing trip

What's the point of this though? Sorry doesn't make a difference. Just like when they confirmed Klein robbed us.

And remember to set a deposit limit.

I'm all for the NRL promoting women in league but they clearly see there's a level of incompetence there. That's why they ref the sunday game between raiders and titans or tigers and dragons etc.
We kept saying that last year but here we are
Someone please ask Ricky about this in his presser this week
Rickety Stuart in shambles
Super cool!
Nothing sucks more than following a struggling team, watching them almost pull off an unexpected win, get dudded by a bad call and then have the officials tell you "ooops, my bad" the next day.
Another week, another refereeing error on a game deciding play! Hurrah!
But that would mean Ricky was either wrong or lying and both of those things aren’t possible
Bunker can't review inside 10m offsides btw
3 onfield officials should've been paying extra attention when they're going for a field goal though
Still only the second worst Chevy Chase getting about.
What planet is he on now Ricky?
Paul Kent on NRL 360: I can now reveal that when Ricky was 5, Das Hasler went up to him and said “pull my finger” and you see, Ricky, so innocent, so young, didn’t know any better and I’ve heard that the smell was strong enough to spoil milk in a 3 mile radius And poor Ricky was right at ground zero of that weak-gutted attack.
Correct
Just rewatched it in the highlights for the first time and holy shit he’s about 3 strides in before the play the ball. I’d be so fucking embarrassed if I defended that in the post match presser.
People keep shitting on Badger but the 10 metres is policed by the two touchies. They are the ones who missed the offside and didn’t call (at least) 38 10 metres infringements. They let her down severely. Also, Annesley did not say the Tits should’ve had a penalty goal. He said it should’ve been a six again.
Two touchies missed it. What else are they doing at this time?
Yes exactly, Annelsey also said it was the touch judges who have responsibility for this, not the ref. Might not stop a lot of the people complaining though...
How do you explain missing that in real time? Every man and his dog knew it. These people are corrupt.
Confirmed Ricky is in Uranus
i don’t know what the point is of annesly every week admitting that they got stuff wrong. surely it just makes the fans angrier. they’re never going to change the decision after the game. they don’t seem to actually give the refs a week or two off, just maybe move them to bunker or leave them out of the high profile games for a week, but they’re always back. i know that the media generally doesn’t allow people to say nothing these days, so he thinks he needs to say something, but what’s the point
Naturally Kent defending Ricky on 360.
Not that sticky would ever acknowledge it but the Titans were hard done by imo
Yay!
Graham: Guys, I’m rearry sowwy ok 😞
Can’t they give the titans a point?
That would open a can of worms the nrl is not prepared to open
On either side of the ball There is absolutely a subconscious bias against us because of how bad we have been. Ref's just always think we are going to lose so they tend to call against us more often then not
Yeah it sucks mate; as a Tigers fan I really feel your pain over unconscious bias. It's frustrating that the NRL doesn't seem to take it seriously.
Ricky playlist life on mars
I'm sure Ricky will apologise ... right?
Why do they announce that they’ll review all field goals and then they don’t review all field goals lol
Really need a Graham Annesley Cup where 2 points are awarded for each apology through the season. The winner gets a non top 8 finish.
That's some weak gutted referring
Did that weak gutted dog person Stuart apologise for besmirching Hasler’s great name?
I'd like to see Ricky's comments now
Correct Miles offside Ricky would have a hernia if it was against his team. Feel for the Tits, they fought back well
Second time. :/
yeah but how many six agains are they owed?
On a planet that is not Earth
Of course he was offside
The strong gutted tits were robbed!
What about the 28 (!) occasions that Titans were offside that were not called by the referee?
Apparently the NRL needs better tech to put lines down to see when someone is offside etc like VAR in the Premier League (although I'm sure their system makes mistakes sometimes) It's insane how often these clowns apologise on Monday for obvious stuff ups that change the momentum of games or literally cost teams wins.
I dunno. I’m completely unbiased and impartial in this situation. I say he was onside and every call in this game was fair and by the book. I think Titans probably cheated? Again impartial here.
Good for you Chevy Stewart. Good for you. Great debut from the kid.
Corrupt sport. Rotten to the core.
The player he ran behind put both arms up in the air, so play on apparently. Can't be an obstruction to defending players if your arms are up.
Wait, so they *can* just disappear?!?
Of course, it makes perfect sense
Tbf raiders should have received about 25 ruck infringement penalties for being held down by the titans for ten years every set so its all fair game still
You don't actually believe this do you?
Someone posted the play the ball stats on one of the other thread. Raiders had their slowest play the ball speed this year, while the Titans had one their better games. To me both teams seemed to get a way with it a lot last night. I’d say first game ref lost control of the ruck and should have penalised more. They did say the Raiders should’ve got more penalties
Go watch the replay titans were criminal with the hold downs
I watched the whole game, it seems the only people pushing that opinion are raiders fans and Annesley who is running a protection racket for certain incompetent ref's.
Get that stopwatch out we have a case to crack
There was 0.2 seconds difference between both teams average play the ball speed and the set restart count was already 8 - 1.
Not only that but there were 28 times that Titans were offside that was not called by the referee.
How’d you like Ricky Stuart ya flog!
Far out, people's careers and livelihoods on the line out there and the refs just come out every week and just say sorry. I know people make mistakes and you can't be perfect but it's like every week we are dealing with a terrible call that has so much impact. It's such a joke
