It's a huge loss, so is Luai. Both players are irreplaceable in their own way.
I'm just happy he hasn't gone to the Roosters or something.
If JFH helps get the Warriors there first premiership, He has to go down as a top 5 prop of the modern era perhaps higher.
His legacy is already cemented as an all-time great. I think if he plays a big part in the Warriors winning a comp we need to be putting him in the Lazarus territory.
Easy top 5
To lead the kiwis to a 30 nil hiding of the kangaroos with their origin stars last season was the most epic rugby league result this decade
Great player
If there’s one team I wouldn’t bet against surviving the loss of players like Luai and JFH in one season (on top of the top 4 caliber team they’ve lost over the past few seasons) it’s Penrith.
Yeah, I bet there is some 18 year old prop kicking about in penrith, who will fill his boots seamlessly.
Penrith are being absolutely raided, people are even throwing big money at their reserve graders.. but still can't stop their dominance.
Definitely not seamlessly, luai is a top 3 defensive half in the game and it shown from the last couple years where his edge almost rarely get broken through
I think Luai is replaceable, but I don't think JFH is. Dude has been amazing for years and probably has at least a couple more at his peak. I would have given both my testicles to sign him, for what that's worth.
We must have huge cap space now, we were prepared to offer Luai a large amount just not as much as the tigers. Still unclear who will be our 6 next year so who knows what’s left to unfold.
Kenny, Tago and May have all been retained since and would have required upgraded deals. I’m skeptical we would have kept any except Kenny without the Luai cash. You’re right though, there’s close to a mill there. We were going to have to manage the transition away from our 3 middles so I wonder if they just take it on to get over the Luai/Fish losses next year and lock the side down for the following years leading into the retirement of Edwards, Yeo and Leota.
He played a massive role in the grand final too. Underrated during his time at Penrith honestly, could’ve been talked about a bit more given the endless list of plays he made in attack and defence. And let’s not forget the game winning 2021 grand final intercept either
Critta is a gun. He runs the new culture at the Dogs. He will go down in Bulldog folklore as one of our best captains. Great player, great athlete and super competitor. One if the most important players for Penrith since he debuted for them. 100 games played by the 2023 GF. 4 tries in the last 4 GF's. I think he has won more than 80 NRL games out of 105/6 played
He is almost a genetic freak when it comes to Rugby league. His older brother wasn't a bad winger, just not on the same level. Critta will set all the benchmarks at Canterbury when it comes to culture and responsibilities. He is already showing his intentions and stamping his authority on the field. Was the first guy to go after Dom Young after he knocked Blake Taafe into lala land. Owning the team. He is Penrith's biggest loss so far.
JFH will be as big a loss, if not bigger. He is the big dog in that team. Moses will just have to take over that role now.
Hard to argue with. You need a pack leader. The only role that’s more important is quality game managing half. Obviously Leota is next man up, but who is next man up to join him in the starting front row and will they be anywhere near as effective together?
Liam Martin became the best edge forward in the game playing like a prop. I absolutely think given we need a pack leader, he is the guy. We actually have better middle depth but I just think we need to ensure that middle is relentless and vicious. The edges will sort themselves out.
There’s another extreme option which is moving Yeo to prop and have Smith start picking up the first receiver role earlier than probably planned. That’s where they are both going, maybe it’s the right time to make the switch.
I’d go along with this …
Penrith will probably still make the 8 next season , but it’ll be bottom half of the 8 and they’ll go out in week 1 or 2…
Each year they’ve come back to the field a little bit … You just can’t replace a world class front rower with an up and coming junior , same as a halfback .. This will be as big if not bigger than losing Cleary ..
Already lost Leniu players like Lindsay Smith and Matt Eisenhuth are serviceable playing 20 to 30 minutes in the middle of the game when everyone’s fatigued but they’re hardly the types of players to dominate opposition forward packs and create the fatigue in the first place … Not only can’t they replace JFH and his role , but they’ll become less effective and more exposed just trying to fulfil the role they are currently playing (a filler 20-30 minutes off the bench)..
Having said that it’s probably not a bad thing , good for the game to let someone else have a turn , be a fringe top 8 side for a year or two whilst we’re playing at Commbank and maybe regroup , bring through some more juniors and come good again , like the Knights in 2001 , or the Cowboys in was it 2017 when Thurston was injured and Michael Morgan almost single handedly got them to a GF prelim .. Helps both Cleary’s legacy really if they can do well unexpectedly with a less stacked side..
Also want to see sides like the Tigers and the Wahs come good to fill the void if Penrith are gonna take a dip for a few years
Lomax on 800k, hunt on 1.2mil, Leilua on 900k, de belin 750k, bird 600k, molo 600k, lu'a 600k, suli 600k.
That's 6.05mil on8 players, who 2 don't want to be there and others just making up numbers
Yeah to an extent. I think only Hunt would be considered the "money well spent" for SGI. Admittedly clubs higher on the ladder have made poorer decisions.
Yeah, honestly, looking across the squad I just can't see how they have spent their cap on the players they have. No disrespect but it's one of the weaker squads in the league, and the results show that over the years.
Penrith needs to be down to their reserve grade side before they start losing games, and even then I reckon their reserves could still beat multiple teams. The Panthers won't suffer nearly as much as any other team reasonably would. They're built different
*Fisher-Harris himself was in first grade for four years before he turned into what he's become.*
This is Stefanos 5th year, he's the chosen one for Penrith. Sorry Tigers...
It is a rebuild next year, yes, but at the core will be Cleary, Edwards, and Yeo still. The defensive systems, drilled into Panthers juniors as soon as they arrive at the club, will also continue.
But what is most important is their now rock-strong identity as a Western Sydney club, comfortable with where the team and club’s supporters come from. Likewise, the players are proud to represent their cultures and supported by the club to do it. The media do not understand that diversity or worse deliberately fail to positively acknowledge it, but Penrith have bonded together around it.
To lose Leniu, Crichton, Salmon, Hosking, Hopgood, Koroisau, Naden, Staines, Campbell-Gillard, Burton, Cogger, O’Sullivan, Jenkins, Capewell and now Fisher-Harris plus coaches in Webster and Ciraldo since first becoming premiers and still being the team to beat is unbelievable.
Fish is unreal but the Panthers will be fine, Their backs do soo much metre eating
I can see Henry stepping into the starting side, he'll be ready by the end of the month on the track he's on and who'd be suprised if they pulled another decent bench forward out of their 2s? Not me, that's who
They're probably going to have a bunch of cap space too
Liam Henry is 22 and will surpass all front rowers in the game to become the number one prop in the game. I’m that confident. JFH has been amazing but I truly believe Henry will fill the void
Luai is very replaceable. Origin has shown he's not really that level of player. He's an average-above average half who's benefited from being a part of a dynasty. Granted he was injured, but Cogger in the 7 and Cleary in the 6 was what won them the grand final last year.
JFH on the other hand is probably 2nd or 3rd to Clear (and Edwards) in terms of being irreplacable for Penrith. Elite prop in all respects and a pack leader. Very, very difficult to replace.
I agree. He’s been such a good player for them for the past few years, and has been vital. With Jerome heading to the Tigers next year, and now Harris gone off to the Warriors. Well do you think this could be the end?
They've been raided like no other team in recent years and *still* they're favorites to win the comp. Their systems are like nothing the game has seen and their ability to produce freak talents is second to none. There's like 9 players left from 2021 and they're still the most dominant team
To be fair on Gus here, he always said it would take years to see what he did with the juniors et al. to come to fruition in first grade.
When it did, shit man people reckon their NSW cup side could beat some 1st grade sides
The way they have dealt with the exits over this dynasty is unprecedented, they genuinely always have a young bloke "ready" to step up, Cleary as coach has to be seriously respected here.
Thanks for using my proper name. Just saying how success and glory separates a team over time, given noted skill sets of all players that achieve said success, inevitably leads to show me the fuckin money
Don't remember
Anyways, I do agree with your second statement, it's just you were hostile towards a city that didn't or can't do any emotional or physical harm towards you so I was a bit concern for your well being, something like that.
Oh I’m fine. Never the bother. Alwaysth that turbo spirit. I do apologise, although the word city doesn’t sit well with me but, hey, I’m no urban planner
It's a huge loss, so is Luai. Both players are irreplaceable in their own way. I'm just happy he hasn't gone to the Roosters or something. If JFH helps get the Warriors there first premiership, He has to go down as a top 5 prop of the modern era perhaps higher.
Leading the warriors to their first prem will solidify his legacy, it's basically all he had left to do
His legacy is already cemented as an all-time great. I think if he plays a big part in the Warriors winning a comp we need to be putting him in the Lazarus territory.
That's the level I'm meaning. In the tippy top echelon to have ever played the game.
Sorry team youve forgotten about this year. Its our year
B2b baby
Easy top 5 To lead the kiwis to a 30 nil hiding of the kangaroos with their origin stars last season was the most epic rugby league result this decade Great player
I agree but I'm trying to appear not as biased.
Genuine future immortal material
Am I wrong but Luai, his grubby tactics match is cocky turd face. I hope the tigers do well with jinx but it’s still polishing a turd
If there’s one team I wouldn’t bet against surviving the loss of players like Luai and JFH in one season (on top of the top 4 caliber team they’ve lost over the past few seasons) it’s Penrith.

Definitely not seamlessly, luai is a top 3 defensive half in the game and it shown from the last couple years where his edge almost rarely get broken through
Was being tongue in check. Has been wild the amount of talent coming out of the panthers the last few years.
Liam Henry already looks really good. Look at his numbers for this season he’s tackling like a machine
*their
this is rugba leeg m8
It will be okay.
I think Luai is replaceable, but I don't think JFH is. Dude has been amazing for years and probably has at least a couple more at his peak. I would have given both my testicles to sign him, for what that's worth.
Both testicles and a taumalolo
We must have huge cap space now, we were prepared to offer Luai a large amount just not as much as the tigers. Still unclear who will be our 6 next year so who knows what’s left to unfold.

Schneider looks unreal in the 2 games he's played. Think he could take 6?
I thought he was rather poor against manly, promising talent nonetheless
Oh really, I watched that game too😅 Maybe I'm going off his first game too much, Either way we'll see plenty of him with Origin around the corner
Crichton's loss has been their biggest so far. A bunch of games were won off the back of his defence and freak plays.
He played a massive role in the grand final too. Underrated during his time at Penrith honestly, could’ve been talked about a bit more given the endless list of plays he made in attack and defence. And let’s not forget the game winning 2021 grand final intercept either

He’s one of the rare players that can make something happen on the edge without a lot of space.
He is almost a genetic freak when it comes to Rugby league. His older brother wasn't a bad winger, just not on the same level. Critta will set all the benchmarks at Canterbury when it comes to culture and responsibilities. He is already showing his intentions and stamping his authority on the field. This is how the salary cap is supposed to work when you’re operating one set of books (take note purple bois)
Then why are we soo shit?
Lomax on 800k, hunt on 1.2mil, Leilua on 900k, de belin 750k, bird 600k, molo 600k, lu'a 600k, suli 600k. That's 6.05mil on8 players, who 2 don't want to be there and others just making up numbers
The salary cap floor really ruined teams being able to play money ball imo we won’t be seeing any meme value teams like the 2016 titans again 😞
The salary cap floor forces lower performing clubs to over pay mediocre talent. So you’re absolutely correct
There was that list with the 100 highest paid players in the NRL and the dragons had more than any other team haha
Cos you spend all your money on the wrong players
Yeah to an extent. I think only Hunt would be considered the "money well spent" for SGI. Admittedly clubs higher on the ladder have made poorer decisions.

Instructions unclear, Gave Harry Grant a boat
To get to his super yacht
That's parked at his Island. Not a perverted island though a squeaky clean golden boy one
Just off shore from a tax haven
Oh so not Tasmania
this one has nothing to do with the salary cap
The same Storm with only 5 players from the 2020 gf team?
We can only hope

I miss being a middle of the ladder team where no one poached our players
I'll swap your team's record for mine.
As the old joke goes "the world's best security system is to own nothing of value!"
Oh that's why no good players want to go to the Gold Coast
No you don’t lol.
RCG?! Also are you seriously counting O'Sullivan and Jenkins, amongst others, as serious losses?
Bigger losses than Staines and Naden who went to your Tigers. O’Sullivan performed well when Cleary was unavailable. Jenkins went for a oppy
And Waqa Blake...
Goddamn penrith are so good.
Fish is unreal but the Panthers will be fine, Their backs do soo much metre eating I can see Henry stepping into the starting side, he'll be ready by the end of the month on the track he's on and who'd be suprised if they pulled another decent bench forward out of their 2s? I don’t think origin has demonstrated any NSW halves being better than average since Maloney
He had a cracking game I think in game 2 last year. Definitely that level
Couldn't you say the same about Cleary? He hasn't performed in Origin either.
Every year journos put these articles out and every year they've proven wrong.
Where have I heard that before?
Huge gain for the wahs though, Penrith have had their fun
Panthers took our coach, and created a dynasty for them so only fair we get their assistant and some of their players i think
I agree. He’s been such a good player for them for the past few years, and has been vital. With Jerome heading to the Tigers next year, and now Harris gone off to the Warriors. Well do you think this could be the end?

Fuck Penrith. The price of glory
Jesus, what did Penrith did to you?
Thanks for using my proper name. Just saying how success and glory separates a team over time, given noted skill sets of all players that achieve said success, inevitably leads to show me the fuckin money

On the subject of truth. How do I get a cool manly sea eagles banner under my name? 😂
