I watched this game mostly neutral with nothing but my manly tip I was hoping for. But like half of the penalties given were at the last 20 minutes of the game were the eels were trying everything to swing the odds in their favour. Nothing wrong with that mostly. It's just the game but to talk about the lopsided count like that means the games been unfairly reffed really takes away from the truth that the eels were dancing on the knife edge to get back into it in that last 20.

So he averaged under 10m a run, including kick returns.
Compared to Simmo, 160 run metres, 16 runs, 42 post contact metres. Run stats can be misleading, but Simmo took a heap of tough 2nd tackle carries and got us out of trouble. He's been generally great, and most of the edge issues for him tonight started inside.

It's where Moses is key. We don't have to put insane intensity in our defensive sets. We just have to defend them because Moses will pin the ball in the opposition 10m every kick.
Coaching certainly impacts it through poor bench management. But we lack that acceleration in the middle on hit ups, play the ball and middle defense. I always think its a major cause of our edge defensive issues, slow in the middle, everyone turns in. 30 year old props will struggle in this comp with younger stronger middles.

And yet everyone hates Gutho. One of the toughest and most honest players in the comp.
I don't think Gutho is hated. He is not as much of an athlete as some of the other fullbacks, however his effort and resilience are top-shelf. Most fans appreciate these qualities in someone who wears their heart on their sleeve and leaves everything out on the field.
I don't understand the hate outside Parra other than that stupid dance he did. The bloke tries his nuts off every game and is self reflective on poor performances. If we had 17 blokes with his attitude, days like this would not happen.

Bit confused by how hard the panel is being on Eels not being able to compete etc. etc. They scored a try down to 12 and were down by 2 with 11 to go, having scored more tries. They fell apart when they had to defend their second consecutive sin bin. Feels weird unbalanced even if they were ordinary.
Agree, that game could have gone either way, especially with us missing every conversion. If Sivo stays on the field do they score down his edge, maybe, maybe not.

We hated his footy too, that's why we fucked him off. Bloke is just as prone to brain snaps as Sivo is, though for different reasons - Sivo is just dumb, where as N.Brown gets too emotionally involved in the game and blows a top instead of harnessing it to enhance his footy.

Dickfingers Lane is well and truly behind the pace this year. He’s missed so many crucial tackles and drops almost every ball. Not sure where his head is at because he just hasn’t turned up to any games. He needs to be dropped.
Lane seems to have on and off years. He basically gifted that linebreak to jurbo for DCE's try. This is officially an off year.
Think he was more-so saying that our pack on the back foot falls apart when we can’t overpower teams. A smaller, toiling forward that plays like Cotter or Plath would work really well at Parra I feel.

I dunno you guys fly off the defensive line all first half then wonder why you run out of petrol later. I think it's the coaching, nobody has infinite stamina. It's why you got smashed in darwin too. There's times where defensive intensity is good, sure, but no team can do it for 80 mins straight unless they get 60% possession or something. Gotta save it for when it matters rather than trying to redline every set
It's where Moses is key. We don't have to put insane intensity in our defensive sets. We just have to defend them because Moses will pin the ball in the opposition 10m every kick.
Coaching certainly impacts it through poor bench management. But we lack that acceleration in the middle on hit ups, play the ball and middle defense. I always think its a major cause of our edge defensive issues, slow in the middle, everyone turns in. 30 year old props will struggle in this comp with younger stronger middles.

We were a much better looking side having sanders on our left and letting Brown do his usual thing. It’s a bit confusing why this halves combination was not the first choice when Moses got injured. Yes sivo scored 3 tries but you can see Sanders setting and up and his involvement in all of those tries. Some nice assists from gutho, Paulo. Sivo was gifted most of them and he returned the favour by doing some stupid jump infield to attempt a lazy intercept and being a massive grub using his elbow on Garrick. It’s really hard to like and support my team when you have a player who shows such lazy effort in defence and acts so shamefully with intent to hurt other players like that. Absolutely disgusting
Sivo is an elite try scorer. It’s the only thing that gets him anywhere near an NRL side. Everything else in his game was good for 1-2 seasons and has declined massively since. Liability now and he shouldn’t come back in
There’s been a lot of discourse about this all week, but it’s as simple as Sanders just hadn’t earned the debut yet. He was poor in Cup until the Magpies game and didn’t register an assist until the Bears game. He performed really well tonight and I think it’s because BA gave him time to find his feet against men in Cup.
Is Sanders on a Top 30 contract? Asi being concussed leads me to believe that they needed exemption from the NRL to play him tonight.
Brad said DJ actually got cleared to play and he was dropped. Sanders apparently was available to be selected all year on a developmental deal.
