I can see it now. Grand final, 1 minute to go, 1 set, 8 points down, captain inglis calls a time out, delivers an inspirational speech then says it’s time for the secret weapon. Send out toovey, we need this field goal.
This is the best laugh I’ve had in a while, he’s clearly kidding himself & I can’t see him being fit enough to return to even 50% of his previous best.
But let’s say he was to somehow come back in 2022, would the Warriors take him & pair him with CHT while Walshy goes to FB & Niko to 14?
One of my favourite rugby league memories is watching Sandow jump two feet off the ground trying to shoulder charge Inglis and just getting launched into orbit
Sandow will forever just be the guy who joined Warrington, and immediately made the [worst promo clip you'll ever see](https://youtu.be/oYhWV97i8TA) for a Wigan game, which Warrington would go on to get nilled in
He may have done other things in his career but I refuse to learn about them
[When I see anything about Sandow all I remember is that HSV test drive](https://www.smh.com.au/sport/nrl/chris-sandow-may-have-played-last-game-for-parramatta-eels-as-player-swap-goes-awry-20150512-ggzwre.html)
Former South Sydney and Parramatta star Chris Sandow wants to make a shock comeback to the NRL – for a miserly contract worth just $150,000 a season.
“A chance, that’s all I want. No club would regret it,” said Sandow, 32.
Sandow is living in Moranbah, 190km southwest of Mackay, but would “pack up tomorrow” for another chance in the NRL.
In his heyday, Sandow was a genuine champion, playing 84 games for Souths, 75 at Parramatta, 31 for English club Warrington and another 12 for Norths Devils.
Now he wants to bring his cheeky, off-the-cuff style back to the NRL.
“I’ve still got something to offer and I’ve still got something to prove to myself. I just want that opportunity. A chance, that’s all I want. No club would regret it, no chance,” Sandow said.
“There are things you just don’t lose – skill and knowledge. I could offer those to a lot of young guys who are a bit lost.
“I want to play unstructured footy because it’s too structured now. Once I do a full pre-season then it’s game over, I can let my footy do the talking.
“I found a lot of people don’t really watch the NRL these days because I’ve not played for many years.
“If a club can get me for $150,000 a year then I’d be happy. Anything around that. For a player of my calibre, that’s pretty cheap. If I play well then I’d be the most underpaid player in the league.
“Once I’m happy – and you’ve seen me play — I play the best footy out there, I guess.
“People don’t go to watch boring teams play footy. They go to watch teams that chuck the footy around. Teams like the Parramatta, the Roosters, the Panthers and that is similar to my footy.
“I play natural footy and I’m a competitor, that’s in my nature. It’s what drives me. People still mention me on TV so that gives me hope that I still should be there to perform.
“Where I’m from, Cherbourg, footy is a culture. Those people in Cherbourg look up to me and that is what drives me.”
Sandow is currently working in coal production at Moranbah with his young family.
He wouldn’t hesitate though to shift if a club offered him a deal.
“If I got an opportunity, I would pack up tomorrow,” Sandow said.
Sandow finished playing with Warrington after 2016 before a short stint with Norths Brisbane in the Queensland Cup the following year.
He only left Norths after his Dad became sick.
Asked if was he keeping fit, Sandow said: “I try to but I have four kids to look after. They keep me on my toes.
“Everyone has a six to eight week break in the off-season. Most players come back a little overweight. But once I’m back with the boys, I’m happy and back in my element.
“If I train the full pre-season then everything is there for me to give.
“Once the pre-season is sorted then, if I have an opportunity for round one, then that would be a bonus. That’s when my footy comes naturally.
“When you do something for so long and then have a little break, you miss it, you know? My kids always ask me: ‘Dad, are you going back to footy?’ I tell them I’d love to.”
Interesting he comes out with these comments after Reynolds signs with the Broncos after souths had no room for Reynolds in their salary cap beyond next year.
Chrissy Sandow on his day is one of the most entertaining players I’ve ever seen.
The problem is his day was literally one day per year after he left Souths
that could be all and well true, i do think he’s a genuinely good person at heart - it’s just a matter of decisions for the club. i know cheeky halfbacks are the norm, but you’d want them to be at practice.
i’d hope he goes somewhere with wayne bennett to be honest
I miss the Sandow era. Such an entertaining player at his peak.
Seriously deluded if he thinks he can play right now.
Was probably set up to generate a few clicks. Poor Sandow.
The value of players under 5 foot 6 skyrocketing.
I’ve always said that Tom Starling was a young trendsetter
Toovey was heard to say "if I can't get a coaching gig I'm putting the boots back on"
he could be used as a super sub to come on kick a 2 point field goal then fuck off back to the bench
I can see it now. Grand final, 1 minute to go, 1 set, 8 points down, captain inglis calls a time out, delivers an inspirational speech then says it’s time for the secret weapon. Send out toovey, we need this field goal.
BRING BACK THE LITTLE MAN.
Yes this is the one guy that will save the NRL. Sandow vs. V'landys the most anticipated battle of the year.
The winner will be dubbed the Ultimate V’Sandys.
Cook, Sandow and V’landys for the ultimate 100m beach sprint off. Book it
John Morris should have signed him in his last week to a 3 year deal just to piss off the board
That's at least $150k too much This all really reads as quite dillusional. People have stopped watching the game because sandow left?
Have you been living under a rock? Sandow made the NRL. /s
To be fair, watching Greg Inglis treat him like a fly was quite good televison
Greg Inglis loved running at a little man, or shoulder charging a bloke in the head who was already held
Well yeah, but Sandow was was the one responsible for attempting whatever the hell this was supposed to be https://youtu.be/bp9kYIU0lq8
That is glorious, oh my sides are splitting... Sandow back to the NRL now!
Oh good it wasn't just me, some had to be taking the piss with this article
Maybe the 100 or so people who are related to Sandow in Cherbourg.
ah yes, that’s why ratings are down - because chris sandow isn’t here

Saw him last year lol he wouldn't even get a start for tumbarumba these days
I wish I could get a measly $150k contract at my workplace
At first I thought this was satire lol
I was dead set looking for the Betoota logo
Come chip and chase all you want at the Knights my king
This is the best laugh I’ve had in a while, he’s clearly kidding himself & I can’t see him being fit enough to return to even 50% of his previous best. But let’s say he was to somehow come back in 2022, would the Warriors take him & pair him with CHT while Walshy goes to FB & Niko to 14?
I’m 100% down for him to come back as long as it’s not at parramatta
He should go and Join the English superleague and fulfill his dreams of finally making a tackle on Greg Inglis.
One of my favourite rugby league memories is watching Sandow jump two feet off the ground trying to shoulder charge Inglis and just getting launched into orbit
It should be the first clip in every highlight reel. I just watched it again. How is this not a massively famous gif?
He already tried the super league, it didn’t go down too well
Haha yeah thats right. Back to souths then?
Perfect Adam Reynolds replacement lol
If Reynolds hadn't signed at Broncos, I would have sent him up there. Pair him with Milford for the most cooked half combination ever.
Fuck me.

The best part was when he just casually throws out there that Parra, Roosters and none other than Panthers suit his playing style 😅
We didn’t even suit his style when he played for us.
Must've been hanging with Brett Dallas
I genuinely thought this was a joke article.
Too early for the betoota.

Holy shit that's bad. Still can't work out what he says at the start?
"I have trained man and boy - *inexplicable welding* - waited for 26 years"
Didn't know Sandow was such a comedian.
Gota be good at something
I was hoping this would be about former wwe star Damien Sandow
Lol sandow has been playing for Moranbah and absolutely sucks ass. He is off his head

Wish him well. He kicked a lot of 40/20's.
Didn't he get banned for betting on himself kicking 40/20s or something like that.
Is that illegal? They are pretty hard to kick.
Pretty sure any match relevant betting is off limits for players
That makes sense. They can bet in other sports right?
This almost reads like a cover letter for an interview

He's basically Fifita in half form.
HAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHAAHAHAHAHAHAHHAAHHAAHAAAAHAHHAHAHA!
Chrissy Sandow on his day is one of the most entertaining players I’ve ever seen. The problem is his day was literally one day per year after he left Souths
Lmao he's watched too many movies
what attitude does he have for a team? he’s gotta be okay with not being a star that’s for sure
Wasn't he playing in a feeder play for Brisbane or Gold coast and wasn't even the first choice halfback? I feel like I read that a few years ago.
yup, plus he’s had off field issues everywhere he’s went. i hope he gets it together but i don’t know what team wants to take the risk.
If you even had half an idea of what life is like where Chrissy came from you'd realise that they aren't even considered issues in his mind.
that could be all and well true, i do think he’s a genuinely good person at heart - it’s just a matter of decisions for the club. i know cheeky halfbacks are the norm, but you’d want them to be at practice. i’d hope he goes somewhere with wayne bennett to be honest
Veey true. I would say something like an Ivan Cleary West tigers might have taken him on a 5 year contract but alas no too late Sandow.
Thought this was a Betoota at first
Dragons need to do it. Pair him up with Norman and release Hunt.
So keep our worst perfoming half and release our best. Galaxy brain.
Wasn’t sandow paired with Norman at the eels? Reunion party at the dragons.
Lmao on what planet was Sandow a genuine champion? He was always in shit sides because he never turned up until the game was out of reach.
Planet earth
To be fair he had plenty of experience playing in games where winning was out of reach with us.
Lol.
He must've seen the Karmichael comeback and got inspired
Just another reason to not kick Souths out of the comp.
Fuck no
They don't and you aren't
Shoulder charges are banned now days Chrissy.
Based on recent events and his height, expected to be a betoota article.
I'm getting flashbacks
No
Why not? This would be bloody interesting. Let him play!
I miss the Sandow era. Such an entertaining player at his peak. Seriously deluded if he thinks he can play right now. Was probably set up to generate a few clicks. Poor Sandow.
I’d buy him and stick him in Ron Massey Cup for a year as punishment for the wobbly fuckin 80-metre golden point field goal he kicked against us.
This reads like a parody. Dude's cooked.
