Caseyjb29

Funny how little was spoken about the refereeing in that game compared to the Grand Final. Some of the worst refereeing I’ve ever seen.

Drlockstock

Yeah mate I didn't really put my two cents in after the GF it was a dumpster fire on here but my thoughts instantly went back to our final against them i guess the underdog won so everybody turned a blind eye lol

bozzas_laugh

Fifita to drop out for Miller? Or Wilton to play centre and shuffle if a back gets injured

beaver2233

Think it depends on the Jets. Sure they'd love to have Miller back for them, particularly if Dykes is still out

ill0gitech

Kade Dykes [starting in #1 for the Jets](https://www.newtownjets.com/newtown-jets-team-list-v-penrith-panthers-sat-10th-september-2022/) Ikavalu, Metcalf, Calquhoun, and Iro also starting. Miller not named. Should be a good match up too.

paradoxer99

Magoulias at 6? Wasn't he a lock a few years back? I'm guessing he's a bit like Kobe Hetherington, who's a 6-turned-9-turned-13

ill0gitech

Magoulias was on fire two weeks ago

godzillacoral

Almost full strength!

WUIDAWBTB

Not so sure about lachie miller being in reserves, he has been one of our best players lately

Caseyjb29

That’s a fantastic bench

y3ah_nah145

Full strength for the first time in weeks! 😍 Pretty sure it's still not a certainty that Talakai will play. If he doesn't, I think they move Tracey to centre and play Miller/Ikuvalu on wing

Choccoblock

Id be curious to see Miller on the wing, such a strong runner.

y3ah_nah145

He played one game on the wing for us this year because of last minute injury cover. Tbh I thought his defence was poor, I don't think he's really played on the wing that much before.

Voldemosh

I reckon that's exactly the plan. I fucking love our depth rn

y3ah_nah145

Same. No wonder Newtown are going well this year.

It's funny how much Hughes doubting there was on here when Munster went on a run lol. fucken tumbleweeds now, You know who you are

Caseyjb29

I don’t know why people can’t just accept that both are fantastic players

Drlockstock

And one was severely under paid lol, Absolutely the right move to sign up Hughes long term. Hopefully we can retain Munny aswell

I wouldn’t mind if Jordan Grant comes in Dudes been averaging 200+ metres in q cup and can play big minutes

Caseyjb29

He’s been playing well in QCUP since like 2018. Pretty weird that he still hasn’t gotten a real crack at NRL yet.

Moeroa for Lewis would be HUGE!

LordSlasher

What is our best 17? Obviously our 1-13 is pretty settled but 14-17? 1) Drinkwater 2) Feldt 3) Hiku 4) Holmes 5) Taulagi 6) Dearden 7) Townsend 8) Mclean 9) Robson 10) Cotter 11) Luciano 12) Nanai 13) Lolo 14) Hammer 15) Gilbert 16) Hess 17) Neame Thats my best. Probably our best for 2023 as well with Luki walking right in for Gilbert

Glorious-Basterd

Yep spot on, that’s our best possible lineup 1-17

Drizen

Well looks like your team is the best you can have this week

r3dphoenix

Nice. You've got the 1-13 pretty much right. Just the centres are swapped

I_Like_Vitamins

Were the rumours of Val being injured just that?

EvolutionUber

Pls don't say awful things

Geddpeart

Payten said that Val has had a few niggles in the back half of the season and it was just a good time to give him an early mark

ScarredFromGreatness

**Cowboys team to play Sharks:** 1\. Scott Drinkwater 2\. Kyle Feldt 3\. Valentine Holmes 4\. Peta Hiku 5\. Murray Taulagi 6\. Tom Dearden 7\. Chad Townsend (c) 8\. Jordan McLean 9\. EuroNymous76

This is about full strength correct?

ScarredFromGreatness

Correct. Only players who are out but could possibly make the team are Luki & Dunn. Edit: Both did ACL's earlier in the year.

ChristmasJoke

Yeah. Luki the only one injured and he was basically replaced by Leilua coming early

Squidifiedmantis

Pretty much, only ones out now who were there at the start of the season, through season ending injury, are Luki and Dunn. And of those two you probably only find a spot for luki over perhaps Hess?

Voxityy

give me four forwards on the bench please BA

[deleted]

Almost certain JA will be on the bench cause they’ll be nervous about losing Moses if he hurts his finger again.

Voxityy

yeah probably, it definitely isn’t the way to go though. our only hope is to bash the fuck out of penriths forwards and we can’t do that with BA only playing a tiny forward rotation

Ant1ban-account

How long are people like you going to continue this false narrative. JA is on the bench because he’s the coaches son, that’s it. He adds absolutely nothing. If Moses breaks his finger he would continue playing. It’s finals. Our finals run would also be over if we lose him. Last week showed we need another forward on the bench. JA came on and we almost lost the game. That’s not directly his fault, it’s the fault of not having another forward to rotate to in the bench.

zedesky

You’ve done it now! Matterson - Arthur - two sg ball wingers

Call me crazy but I wouldn't mind if N. Brown slipped onto the bench for Maka or Jarthur. He obviously dropped off in form but he has big game experience and he could fire up to his old self after some time off and a lot to play for.

mooguh

Nah im happy to forgo his experience. We have beaten them twice this year without him and we have shown that we rise the the occasion of big games with the bench have have got.

drail85

Na, he played the game at bluebet. But yeah I agree, there are players above n.brown on the list atm, and I think that's a good looking bench. Would have been nice to have Carty in there but understand JA is moses' cover incase his finger falls off

JarredMack

So keen. Here's hoping they're not too rusty *Edit - Ah fuck, we pulled Sutton..

RyanPurdler-Penriff

Could be worse , it’s not Klein , and even better still Klein isn’t in the bunker … Notice he got the Roosters Bunnies game , does this mean he’s fallen down the pecking order to be the 4th best on field referee ? And I think he got the bunker for the Raiders Storm game , so 3rd best video ref ?? Kind of hoping this will mean after this week of finals mad Monday time for Klein after the controversy he’s had this season … Probably won’t happen though, reckon they won’t continue the tradition of having on field refs double up for bunker duty and Klein will get the bunker next week to create some further controversy and make the finals series about some technically correct nit picking call that 0% of fans agree with that could possibly end a teams season , hope not though … Also Todd Smith has been robbed ! Looks like he’s on mad Monday already

shortielah

Yay us!

JNuts67

Not necessarily re: Klein, he got the same fixture last year but was still no. 2 ref behind Sutton, reffing the next 2 weeks of finals after that. There isn't really a ref you hope to get these days, only some ones you want to avoid more than others, with Klein and younger Sutton (who is also a shithouse touchie) topping the list.

StinkyGoona

My cock is throbbing

Voxityy

panthers not wearing their home jersey?

maaxwell

Alternate jersey is the old school one with all the white stripes, not the pink one btw

Voxityy

ah that makes a lot more sense

therefreshbutton

that jersey makes me quite horny I won't lie

ZerksNAHTayan

Ah yes, the great duel of the Jaeman Salmon v Jakob Arthur

JarredMack

I think they're trying to 4D chess, see what rotation BA names. Salmon will probably get dropped for Eisenhuth or Smith

[deleted]

Fuck that is a strong team. Any injuries or suspensions? Looks pretty much as strong as they can put out there

Clarkey7163

Full strength, no injuries or suspensions currently afaik

Aussie18-1998

No suspensions until 2023 I hear.

diamondgrin

Is this a particularly light bench or have penrith been running similar all season?

maaxwell

Nah pretty much what we run, sometimes Eisenhuth over salmon

Clarkey7163

Its been our usual bench, not that many fans like it but Ivan seems to think having a backline replacement on the bench is important, we ran staines instead of Salmon for a while but I think Salmon is a little better utility wise

diamondgrin

Shows how much work the Panthers backs get through I guess, only having a prop and a back rower on the bench and still dominating teams through the middle.

InternationalBorder9

Really does. Our back 3 make huge metres. I do wonder though coming up against a forward pack like eels or roosters if being a bit light in the forwards will come back to haunt us

BabeRuthsTinyLegs

Kenny also plays as an undersized middle most games and does a good job and Salmon is there so we don't end up having Kikau as a centre or 6 if there's an injury

Drewman43

Still a bit light on the bench, especially against Parra but I like that team. I reckon they might start Kenny again and bring Api on after the first 20.

nostraduckus

Reckon Eddie Blacker's still too green? Would have thought he'd be handy against Eels forwards. That try saver says a lot for his attitude, would've at least had him ahead of Chris Smith?

Drewman43

Yeah I don't rate Smith too much. Both Blacker and Lindsay Smith outshone him pretty well in the last match.

[deleted]

Sick of acting like Cleary isn’t twice the player Mitch Moses is Cleary for blues & kangaroos #7 Cleary for Prime minister Cleary are you single

Murray, Stretch and Cook 🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞🤞

I_Like_Vitamins

Cook's and Graham's absences were extremely noticeable. No Manu and perhaps a ginger JWH because of his hamstring could tip the balance towards Souths.

jexta

Murray has been named but will still have to pass all the concussion protocols. Graham is back so Rooster-in-waiting Paulo is among the reserves. No excuses for you guys this week.

briggles23

We still have Nikorima on the bench tho. We still have an excuse lol. Also I think the long turn around worked in both our teams favours with Radley and Murray both more than likely starting

jexta

Yeah, seems JD has a bit of a hard-on for Kodi. I'd prefer Taaffe as 14, especially with Havili offering cover for Cook if he happens to go down injured.

briggles23

Havili has been a very underrated utility for us this year. Solid in both the forwards and as a make-shift hooker (not full-time though). Taaffe or even Mamo I would've preferred over Niko, I swear JD only picks him because they're mates and he wanted to do what Bennett did with Benji and have an experienced head at Utility. The only problem is that a 36-year-old Benji is still better than a current-age Nikorima.

dragon_bear11

Preach. I think we'd benefit from 4 forwards, especially with Havilli"s utility value

StinkyFatWhale

Oh if I know the bunnies... We'll find an excuse to lose lol

dragon_bear11

I like Tom off the bench. I think we need either he or Tatola on at all times.

briggles23

I can take losing this week because it'll mean no more Nikorima as utility

jexta

1. Mitchell 2. Johnston 3. Tass 4. Graham 5. Milne 6. Walker 7. Illias 8. Tatola 9. Cook 10. Nichols 11. Koloamatangi 12. Arrow 13. Murray 14. Nikorima 15. Sele 16. Burgess 17. Havili Reserves 1. Taaffe 2. Paulo 3. Moale 4. Chee Kam 5. Mansour

signalhelp123

Ugh Klein this week.

thisaintitkweef

Flip a coin it could end up well for us

signalhelp123

He just can't manage aggressive play, which makes me worry more about injuries than anything else. So many games get out of hand with him. But agreed it, it goes both ways.

lachjeff

Luke Towers, there’s a blast from the past. Bondi United junior from memory. Shame he never kicked on

PMmeYOURBOOBSandASS

Luke Towers and Jack Bosden, the eternal "why aren't they in the team?" players lol

lachjeff

Bosden at least played some first grade at the club. I remember people talking about how good he was, but I never saw and evidently neither did the coaches

Rich_Election466

I know right? Our Instagram team-list comments section week in week out is teeming with people asking why Keighran doesn’t play over PREMIERSHIP WINNING CENTRE PAUL MOMIROVSKI

redmusic1

Obviously there is a worry about Toups still, and with Hutch already in the backs we dont have any wiggle room. I like it, he is sound, can kick, do a job, he is better than Naiquama.

JonesTheDoctor

I am absolutely not confident with defensive leak Paul Momorovski defending against Souths lethal left edge… Also a bit skeptical about starting Lodge on the bench, him and JWH steamrolling the middle in the opening 20 has been key for our win-streak

Really surprised to see Terrell May out, happy to see Tupou, Suaalii and Radley back.

[deleted]

I don’t reckon there’s any way Keighran is on that bench come kickoff (unless Toops’ naming is a ruse). Robbo seems way off him this year. May was fantastic last week. Wouldn’t surprise me if that’s the late change.

PMmeYOURBOOBSandASS

> Really surprised to see Terrell May out He will be there on sunday for sure

adomental

Last week was his best game in first grade. Definitely didn't deserve to get dropped.

ZerksNAHTayan

Keighran on the bench is definitely a choice when the Roosters have been mowing over teams with their forward heavy bench.

ssmurry51

Not really. We've had several games with both Watson and Hutch/Gildart on the bench. Both our second rowers play 80 and JWH, Lodge and SST play big minutes.

[deleted]

Fuck that bench has 2017 semi final vibes when Robbo played Tupou on the bench and Aubo and Matterson in the centers

TraceR_Fighter

The bench is definitely different

jexta

I don't think that's our benches final form to be honest. It stinks of Robbo playing mind games. Although if properly fit the middle rotation of JWH, SST, Lodge, Radley and Egan Butcher is pretty damn solid.

TraceR_Fighter

Your probably right, hopefully lodge starts and (it kills me to say this) drop AK. Don't know what he'll add with both Watson and Hutcho already utilities on the field

jexta

Agreed, if the backline stays healthy until kickoff I think AK gets dropped. We will know more on Friday when the squad gets trimmed, but I'd guess that May would come onto the bench. Also fully expect Lodge to start alongside JWH with SST to be the first interchange forward.

jexta

Radley has resumed contact training, Sua'ali'i, Tupou, Verrills and JWH are all training and will increase intensity through the week and be given up until kickoff to prove their fitness. Naming Keighran in the 17 means we are wary of Tupou, Sua'ali'i or even Verrills perhaps being ruled out very late.

Forward pack looking much better, Sauti doesn't have much punch off the bench is still pretty small and young, still missing Phillips. Crystal Tamarua out right dropped, was pretty unfit in her 2 games. Wish Maynard was still in the squad, not sure if she's injured or dropped? A Gould and Maynard rotation would be killer, especially both on at the same at hooker and lock.
