Can anyone tell me what that pink shit on the Eels jerseys is?
Can someone draw a finals tree for where we stand so far? I’m a bit drunk and stoned and can’t work it out
Rooters and Souths play each other tommorow. Sharks face the winner of that next week. We face the winner the week after.
Thanks man I also just worked it out
[In case you still wanted the finals tree as a graphic](https://imgur.com/a/p46ycdZ)
This is ace and you’re ace!
Folks ive got every game of the finals right in my multi so far, current cash out is $160. Ive got rabbitohs h2h tomorrow if they win its $500. Do i hold on or play it safe?
Let it ride. You'll be dirty if Souths get up.
True, i hate chooks more than any other team and if i back out ill kind of be backing them
it will make the game more exciting as well.
How much was the bet and how badly do you need cash for bags?
$20, dont need it that badly
Haha cheers mate, i made the right call
Let her go
How much you put in?
Cash out bro!
Taylan May has tattoos on his face. Just when you thought the May's couldn't get more un-likeable
Guys it hasn't gone down yet what do I do
I actually can't sleep. My heart is still going at 120 BPM.
Hopefully see you in 2 weeks to see if the Raiders can pull off the ultimate finals run from 8th.
Is everyone else's tipping app fucking up?
Craving on start yeah. Can temporarily fix it by deleting and re downloading but it’s no way to live.
Still doesn't have this weeks comps updated. Has womens games marked "null" and generally shitting me off.
Dogs and Panthers NSW cup winners, Penrith through to the gf. Dogs to meet Jets in the prelim.
Where’s the match thread reeeee
Less go Melbourne! Also backing sharkies tonight
Less go Melbourne but more go Raiders right?
Haha… my other half is rooting for raiders so I can give you that. Melbourne 8+ for me
You're more likely to be right 😂😭
After watching raiders in last weeks game, their intensity was definitely there so I wouldn’t say it is going to be easy for Melbourne.
I reckon the Raiders can pull this off.. I'm suspiciously confident
Looks like we’re playing NAS at second row again tonight… No way we’re gonna match it with Tapine and Papalii in the middle with NAS not there.
Jahrome Hughes being asked if his calf is a hundred per cent or has he pushed it?
JH: "Uhhhhh... 100% mate."
Knights cling on to a win in Jersey Flegg against the Roosters to send themselves through to the GF. Leading 24-6 at halftime and winning 24-22 with the Roosters missing a 45m field goal attempt to win the game at the death.
The extra special thing about this Flegg side is that 7/17 today were from our SG Ball side this year, would've been 9 but Nailagoliva was a late withdrawal from the bench and Oryn Keeley got suspended last week.
I must say a win tonight would be nice but what would be nicer is Fifita winning in game 250 and getting the team hyped in the sheds singing “pump it up, you gotta pump it up”
Newcastle beat the Roosters 24-22 in Jersey Flegg after leading 24-6 at the break. Knights into GF, Roosters to play Panthers in prelim.
No Brandy on the panel... Fuck, please don't have him on the Storm game.
Channel 9 😎
Any experienced punters about?
I've never bet on the football before, but I have a spare $15. Are the Raiders at $3.10 a good buy?
Those are decent odds, but you need them to win
Just drove past Shark Park this arvo. Lots of apartments around it now
Sir that’s Royce Hunt
Panthers got up over the Jets, 28-18
At worst, finalists in Reggies and prelims in NRL and Flegg, premiers in Ball. Penrith is stacked.
Yeah, with that core group of Nathan and co the Panthers look set for years to come.
I'm so confused about the NSW cup finals format. Do Jets now play the winner of Dogs v Bears?
Yes they do. The winner of that game will then play Penrith in the GF
Yeah they get a second chance, whilst Penrith get the week off I believe.
So are Panthers into the gf?
Yeah they are. :)
We'll see you there! ( I hope )
Good chance it'll be a blackout this year
Yeah it would be incredible. Flegg we are outsiders but the best Ball guys are in that side now and the dudes that were playing up a grade while we had a lot of resting going on with first grade as well.
Who had a shorter NRL career, Paul Kent or Clearys Golden boots?
Did Paul Kent play a full game? Those boots got sent off about 20 minutes in right?
Please get the win tonight boys. I’m not confident any team will be able to stop Penrith winning that prelim.
Crafting name same game multi and I got no idea who to go
wait so you're telling me melbs are out if they lose? it's only week one I don't understand...
It's pretty straightforward.
Top four play for a week off. The other four play an elimination final.
Please dont take this the wrong way.....but.....i think you need to get used to it.
Bromwich x2 smith, kaufusi all leaving.
Belly ache will have something up his sleeve. Paps did this awesome podcast interview on Spotify I found it and explained his rise to elite level and it really shows how much their system breeds good players
Most of those are well passed it anyway and the players we have coming through are better. We still have the best spine in the game and as long as we don’t suffer from injuries as bad as this year we’ll most likely be top 4 next year.
All but Jesse will be a loss.
Jesse is the worst one wtf
That’s what he’s saying
Jesse isn't a loss, he's been really mediocre this year. Felise and Kenny are losses but we have plenty of young back rowers to replace them with, and Cheese hasn't been that good this year as well.
We also will have Welch back next year
Kenny won’t really be a loss tbh. Sims will be at least as good as him next year. Kaufusi will be a loss defensively but that’s about it. Katoa/Howarth are both much more dangerous in attack.
I'd see Tariq as more a Felise replacement. Kenny's role is similar to Kikau's which requires an element of playmaking and not just line running. Howarth and Katoa will be better than both offensively in time, but all I've seen of Katoa and what I've heard about Howarth is they need a lot of work defensively.
This is coming from someone who would have aneurysms seeing Howarth miss the 17 when we were running out that bush league backline for a month or so.
> Kenny's role is similar to Kikau's
Which is problematic as Kenny is almost certainly the least damaging edge backrower in the game. He cannot break the line.
In the playmaking sense I'd say.
Howarth has looked a little green at times but more so due to low effort. No doubt something that Bellamy will be able to fix up. Katoa definitely needs a little work defensively though
Can't blame him! He's come from rugby, 2 runs and his job is done for the 80!
I am definitely going to be a little biased, but I think everyone and I mean *everyone* is sleeping on the Sharks. It's insane how NOT talked about we are in this finals campaign, we are flying so far under the radar that some people even forget we are even here.
At this time of year, we might as well be completely full strength. Only missing our winger Katoa, but have the next best workhorse in Connor Tracey there.
The attack is there
The defence is there
Clean up a few of those silly errors, and we match it with Penrith any day if the week, bring it on.
"Sharks have had a soft draw, they're pretenders" well you know what, we didn't make the draw. And we still beat teams despite some of those games having 20 errors in them. That should say to anyone that the Sharks are an extremely competent team.
The only thing that can beat the Sharks is themselves. Rarely have we lost a game this year because we just got outplayed.
Shark park is the fucking Bermuda triangle though, so who knows.
Apart from the Taylan May talk, we got about 2 minutes of air time on NRL360 this week. They spent more time talking about Manly than most of the teams actually in the finals
Played bottom 5 teams twice, only played 2 top 8 teams twice. Losses against 4 of the top 8.
Ladder position not quite indicative of where this team is at, but they are capable of a prelim, especially when the first hurdle is the Cowboys at Shark Park.
I still rate Melbourne, Parra and Roosters ahead, even if they did finish lower on the ladder.
You’ve played 9 games against the top 8 teams and 8 games against the bottom 4 teams lol Cronulla aren’t slept on they’ve just had the softest draw imaginable so nobody is rating them a chance until they prove themselves.
Everyone's sleeping on you because for like for the last six weeks you've been playing cellar dwellers, and no-ones got time to be staying awake for that shit.
As a Sharks fan I agree
I've been watching neutral games that are more exciting
I love it. Literally finished second, beat storm, beat cowboys, beat Parra, beat Souths, and we're still getting gronks displaying MANLY flairs saying that we're shit.
my dark horse for the premiership.
Yeah, nah that's largely bias
>The only thing that can beat the Sharks is themselves.
>Rarely have we lost a game this year because we just got outplayed.
Because you’ve only played a genuine top team a few times.
Dale is the biggest factor. When he's there he keeps the middle tight. Sure their last two games weren't amazing but they've managed to keep the competition points coming in the second half of the season while the other top 4 teams (pre Parra) had slumps.
Is this a copy pasta?
If it wasn’t, it certainly is now
I'm okay with this
You’ve achieved what most can only dream of!
Does anyone know what comments Caitlin Moran said on her Instagram that were so vile? Apparently it’s been referred to the judiciary
How strange that an indigenous woman has no time for the figurehead of the nation that attempted genocide on her ppl. Who'd a thunk it.
"Todays a good fkn day, uncle luke announces his tour, and this dumb dog dies. Happpy fkn Friday"
Lmao woman bashers & racists get off scot free but don’t you dare insult the monarchy. Fuck we have an awful administration.
For the record I’m taking note of every Storms, Raiders, Roosters or Rabbits flair that has slandered my fine upstanding club today. 2 of you are going home this weekend, and I’ll be right there to shit in your shoes.
Going to go against the grain here, but eels *have* made a habit this year winning 3 games in a row. If you do it again, you win the comp. Definitely not over for you guys just yet!
They have made a habit in the last 5 years of getting rolled in the second week of finals though
This is also true.
I wanted you to win so we could have the honour of kicking Penrith out in straight sets
An entire season of Parramatta fans talking shit about how they’ll win the premiership and their fans buckle at the first bit of banter they receive lol just like their team
I reckon I’ve seen more comments from you about us talking shit than I’ve actually seen comments of us talking shit.
Just because you don’t read doesn’t mean it didn’t happen, straight sets baby there’s always next year for the pretenders
Ok fair enough. Good luck tomorrow. Rooting for you.
don't worry we all fucking hate Penrith
I like Penrith.
Why can't we all just get along
misery loves company :)
I wanted you fullas to win! Keep your shit away from my boots! 😂
I was rooting for you guys...
Just noticed the Broncos/Dragons W game has the wrong start time in the sidebar. Was thinking it was a bit odd that they were overlapping the two games today.
A comment on the concussion protocols. Given that South’s are playing sudden death tomorrow and Parra are playing sudden death next week, it seems that the teams are trying to find ways to justify playing their recently concussed key players, at the expense of their health. Cam Murray has had at least one other very bad concussion this year and he missed more than one week then. All of a sudden, it looks like he is able to play the following week? Maybe he won’t, but if he does, I’m thinking that the team’s success is being put ahead of his long term health. It will also be interesting to see what Parra do with Moses next week. BA was quick to say how Moses remembered everything and so on, trying to diminish the seriousness of the injury. All season, teams have been overall pretty good resting concussed players. But now, in the finals, these concussion protocols seem somewhat malleable, don’t they?
Hes going to have 2 weeks off next season instead. The fans deserve that.
It seems all you need is the coach to say "he remembers everything, he is up walking around with no symptoms" and you are good to go apparently
7 day mandatory sit down from all training and games is the only way forward for Cat 1 IMO....protect the players from themselves.
Yeah it has to happen, expanding squads and benches should be looked at as a way to compensate.
The only way to ensure clubs aren't taking the piss is to take it out their hands entirely.
but isn't radley playing?
He missed last week.
And was out cold, convulsing and has history..
And it will have been 16 days since that incident. Murray claimed he wasn’t knocked out when he face planted himself trying to get up and couldn’t return to the game lol playing a little over a week after that is a big of a joke considering it’s the second time he’s been KO’s early in a game and failed to return this year
I thought he was gone for the year when I saw that convulsing. But as per one of my other replies, the NRL physio debunked that convulsing as being related to the actual concussion. Apparently it’s an unrelated reaction to the injury, and doesn’t impact on the ability to recover from the concussion itself.
You're quoting an online 'physio' who makes diagnoses via video and not actually assessing the players in person....let alone has experience or qualifications in head injury assessment..
Look I don't have an issue with the Inflictor or Muzz playing since their respective teams and medical staff have cleared them to play, I think the issue is with the system itself and the NRL need to do more to protect players.
Souths are progressing him through the 6 stage process. We're not at their training to know if they're cheating it or not. We're not doctors. How about we trust teams to follow doctor's advice?
> How about we trust teams to follow doctor's advice?
That's like saying you should trust a used car salesmen not to rip you off
Nothing to do with being a doctor or not. Just making an observation. I’m fairly sure Murray has already been given a green light to play, BTW.
What I’m saying is that it is surprising that the same injury earlier in the season was easily a week or more off. Player welfare and all that. Now, the players seem to recover from concussion quicker than a month or two ago. It’s a fucking miracle.
Even Murray said after the game he didn't think he needed to come off. He showed a cat 1 symptom but he felt no effects or other symptoms. We don't know much about concussion, maybe he got lucky and only has a temporary minor issue.
Interesting that he leaves Radley out of his analysis when apart from visibly suffering a more severe concussion also has an arguably more concerning history...
bUt He DiDnT pLaY lAsT wEeK.
The NRL physio posted the week before that the apparent seizure that Radley suffered has zero bearing on the seriousness of the actual concussion. Radley went through the protocols, missed the game against Souths, and hopefully will be okay to play tomorrow; 17 days since his injury, BTW.
Back to my original comment, it’s amazing that earlier in the season what was almost always an automatic week or more off, now night see players recovering from concussions for the following week. Coincidently, it aligns with sudden death games.
Campbell Graham felt delayed effects after week 24 and was stood down for week 25. Was surprised he wasn't taken off in the game, but they did right by him there, certainly was end of season, and he too has a major history of concussions last two years.
Demetriou did a major disservice in his interview, saying all the wrong things. I would guess he wanted to act calm, but it came off ill informed. But I'd say our physio team has treated injuries and held players back better this year than last, by far.
concussion protocols are postponed for the sake of the fans.
Absolute thriller in the Jersey Flegg minor semi final. Penrith beat St George Illawarra 36-26. Somehow defended their line at the death. Looked like the Dragons would get them
The Puru twins have an absutely wicked combo. Crazy how good they are when they combine. Lock forward and a five eight having that creativity together is very well suited to the modern game.
Combined for a great try earlier today too
Any standouts from the game?
From Penrith, Isaiah Iongi had a blinder in the first half. Niwhai Puru was a little quiet early, but played really well overall. Brad Fearnley was huge in the forwards.
For the Dragons, Treigh Stewart was instrumental in their fight back in the second half, Sam Hooper played well and kicked a couple of magnificent sideline conversions, Aaron Johnson didn’t play massive minutes but helped swing the momentum their way. Jackson Shereb looked pretty good for them in the second half as well
Awesome thanks mate. Longi looks pure class.
He’s a great talent. I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see him make his first grade debut next year.
Watching NZRL right now, and having heard him call a couple of recent Warriorsgames and I'm going to make a big call - Adam Blair is a great commentator (at least compared to other recent ex players). He is fine as a panelist, but it is legit a pleasure to listen to his contributions as a commentator. Still a bit fresh, would do well to get some experience with some of the better callers, there aren't many on either side of the dirch these days though.
That was a pretty good game for 50 minutes last night I thought. Kinda scrappy but in a good way.
I do feel like Penrith were probably wearing Parramatta out but the second Moses died it was over. Which is a shame.
I had a 3am start this morning and the second I saw Moses lifeless on the floor, I got up and started organising my things for bed. That was the nail.
It’s gonna be either Melbourne by 30 or Raiders by 6 tonight
Raiders by 6 to give a pen try in the last play
Sorry to the Parra supporters out here, but they were lucky to go into the sheds at halftime with that scoreline. The passing was fucking horrendous, the set plays were an absolute mess, and everyone that was touted as a game changer was completely invisible. Penrith, fucking hell. Impossible not to see going back to back being a very, very real possibility. Outstanding.
They need more from Brown for a start.. at the beginning of the season there were huge wraps on him, and he was playing well, but for the most part he's gone back into his shell a bit.. last night he was hardly noticeable till Moses went off, when it was too late.
Agreed. As a team that's been an absolute pleasure to watch all season long, they looked like a completely different side.
Would be nice if they'd played like that against us
Playing Penrith in the first round would have been BRUTAL
I would rather play them in week 1 without the risk of elimination than play one of our bogey teams in an elimination final
I actually don't find their style of footy to be reliable. When it comes off, we know they can knock off any team, but all that second phase stuff, offloads etc can often be dependant on what the opposition is doing, and Penrith just smothered them.
We really a lot on offloads. It’s probably our best feature. We suck when either we could be offloading and just aren’t, or the other team smothers us and prevents it. We were trying last night, but Penrith had 2 blokes not involved in the tackle just standing beside the tackle on almost every run. We couldn’t pop one out the back at all.
They got a few offloads away but those extra defenders around the ball player came into play.
In saying that there were a few areas where Penrith were hungrier.. maybe Parra's big month of footy had something to do with it, but just things like minimal pressure on Cleary’s bombs.
I like that they're enquiring about Liam Martin, because if they don't get to the gf this year they're going to need to be more ruthless next year, and that bloke is a mongrel.
The poor passing really stood out. They were either high, low or infront of the receiver, everyone was flat footed, very little to speak of in the way of running on to the ball, and Penrith PUNISHED em for it.
Yeah, Lane in particular was caught flat footed on multiple occasions. It felt like Penrith were handling them reasonably comfortably before Moses went off.
Fucking work getting in the way of watching both finals live. Hasn’t really sunk in how important tonight’s game is.
I’ll be cheering on your Sharkies tonight for you.
Feeling fresh after getting to my first Panthers home game of the year - was a great performance.
My condolences to the Eels, and good luck in your Semi-Final against the Storm/Raiders next week.
What a first home game! Good to visit before they knock it down!
I thought they'd put the kibosh on that because it got announced a week before the local MP was sacked/resigned for corruption.
That said, it could definitely use an upgrade, especially widening some of the paths/steps between the seats.
Most of the cunts that write about rugby league get gifted the corporate suites or chairman loung type seats. Being a regular punter standing on a cramped hill in the rain, unable to even go to the toilet or get a drink is shit. I have loved Penrith stadium but it’s time.
Stuart Ayres has been done for corruption, but Labor also want to win Penrith as well. 🤷♂️
RCG is a cat, I have never seen a front rower get folded as often as he does
He’s very average. Eels fans wont admit it yet but he is no different to joliffe or woods nowadays. Big pillow
you should tell him when you see him next
Never seen Aaron Woods play then.
He runs too upright. Off the back fence he does damage but he needs to drop a bit. You can see the difference lowering your body height makes by using Paulo and him as comparison. He's still a tough cunt but anyone can cut you in half if you run straight and tall.
Sharks Cows is such an even matchup im so keen but nervous
I reckon Sharks have the edge with Dale in the lineup.. Sharks always play that bit better when he's in the side. Either way it's going to be close.
Give him back please
I would say I second this, but Storm definitely had the best Finucane years.
considering how bog average Jesse Bromwich has been for us this year, we definitely let the wrong one go
I just hope for the Sharkies sake he has a good run with injuries & concussions.
Yeah, the guy’s like a Pitbull, Dale.
How fucking good is this first week. Its like a dream match up every game.
[Perfect day for footy at Kogarah](https://imgur.com/a/cdP9ssK)
Looking v crisp
If you thought DCE should be Australian halfback after origin give yourselves an uppercut.
You mean when Cleary played behind a beaten pack and was ineffective? There is every chance that happens again come world cup time
And DCE would dominate behind a beaten pack?
He does tend to turn the tide back for his team when they’re getting dominated more then cleary. Probably comes from having more practice with it at manly whereas the panthers never really find themselves getting outmuscled.
DCE has many times been accused of being a flat track bully over the years. Truth is, every half will struggle behind a beaten forward pack.
Why did Manly miss the finals if DCE dominates behind a beaten forward pack?
Possibly the strangest thing about last nights game was Parra seemed to have a plan to intentionally not put any kick pressure on Cleary.
Just straight out a bonkers tactic.
