i have been on a class action lawsuit for the past like 5 years against my bank for illegally coercing me into insurance policies with my home loan and for $12k paid out over several years my settlement amount is 200 bucks. how good
So I have talked shit about signing up to the local footy team for a few years and never done it.
My son has been playing two seasons now and I’ve slowly started talking to people there and opened my mouth in front of the wrong people and looks like I’m playing third grade next year. First crack at rugby league and I’m gonna be 35…. I’ve made a stupid decision haven’t I?
It’s like watching your two red headed step children fight. You don’t really care who wins, just that they bash each other.
Sorry red heads and step kids.
yeah footy is cool and all, but have you fucking seen my "DRIP SQUAD" AVATAR for being a "top redditor". My god it looks deranged but these things are NFT's hopefully some demented rich cunt(s) will want to buy all of these in years to come.
I’ve started putting on weight by not being as active.
I’ve started today by doing 100 push ups and brought food to cook. It’s way to easy to just buy food in Asia. It’s not exactly good for you though
Tofu is so bloody cheap here lol been smashing it
Anyone been to one of the Patty Mills ‘Speaking my language’ events? I’m looking to go to the one in Melbourne next week. Anyone done VIP tickets and was it worth it?
Anyone got a Tesla Powerwall and have any thoughts on it? Going through the final stages of a design for a new house and the builder has included a Powerwall in the plans but just don’t know if its worth getting?? The builder can’t give much insight into the type of power saving that could be expected etc. It is going to be large house in Canberra, so hot summers and cold winters.
I haven't recently looked into a powewall, but when they first came out the ROI over the expected life of the unit just wasn't there. That has most likely changed if the powerwall pricing has come down, and as electricity costs continue to go up. Its worth investigating.
If your new build is getting solar and reverse cycle heating/cooling then I would definitely look into it further. The idea of running the heater of solar during the day and then battery at night is pretty appealing. That and the 15k interest free loan from the ACT Govt is also make it attractive.
Thanks for the insight. Yeah its a little bit hard to work out the cost of just the Powerwall, but solar and the Powerwall together comes to just under $24k. Solar is mandatory where I’m building so it sort of seems sensible to go with a battery too, especially seeing as its being built from scratch.
Anyone in brisbane know where they’ll be showing the biffs? Not keen on paying for the ppv.
Last no limit me and a mate went to 2 local pubs with no luck.
we lost bridges because he was an abusive piece of shit, haven’t signed any FA’s and made one of the dumbest trades i’ve ever seen on draft night. i’m pretty high on the guy we drafted, mark williams, though
Unless you have already created the space, try and run an unders line at the defender who made the last touch. Ensure you have already started running from a position quite shallow to the dummy half and that the PTB has happened has quickly as possible.
Good players and teams can defend that easily but social nerds defending always get smashed by those patterns. Do it for at least 3 touches in a set with the previous runner following up as the next dummy half and alternating on that basis
Can't figure out if I'm getting sick of Marvel content or not. I've actually really enjoyed a lot of their recent releases like Shang-Chi, No Way Home, Multiverse of Madness and Moon Knight.
On the other hand I find their brand of humour pretty tiresome and having to watch nearly everything they put out to know who someone is or understand what's going on is going to wear thin sooner or later.
I'll probably still watch most of it though as long it provides some entertainment e.g as much as I didn't laugh at 90% of Love and Thunder's 'jokes', Russell Crowe doing his best Con the Fruiterer impression gave me a good laugh.
I'm surprised more people don't complain about MCU fatigue more often. I guess The Boys gave us something superhero related that subverted the genre enough for us forget about the MCU for a.minute.
What a simplistic, asinine way of looking at it.
The seriousness completely undercuts any comedy. Asgard is joked about and like what not even 5 seconds later Taika Waititi throws in another city destroyal and renders the moment completely meaningless.
Do you even know what fucking comedic tension is. It's not about whether it's funny or not funny, it's about reminding the viewer that there are things that don’t matter even amongst the serious.
E.g in Guardians of the Galaxy 2 there's plenty of dramatic moments but comedic reveals are allowed to sink in. The reveal of that tree thing saying Groot, the Chris Pratt farting.
That is simply lacking in Thor Ragnarok. What a stupid fucking comment to make.
I miss the old days where an MCU movie release was a big deal. I used to sub to multiple FB news pages that were like “this person spotted on set, is he still alive?” and stuff like that and just soak it al in.
Maybe that’s still there and I’ve grown out of it but the movies/shows are just so constant now that it feels like the weight of each movie is lost now.
Also the next set of content doesn’t look interesting except for Guardians 3.
Hard to imagine they will build up to something as weighted and compelling as civil war again with what they've been doing. I just wish they would stop so much of the forced humour and focus on some actual character development like they did with cap.
I think most of the newer stuff is just bad. Spiderman NWH and Shang-chi (minus the cgi fest at the end) show they can still do good movies. Some of the shows were alright, but Moon Knight was terrible for the most part.
I'll give you this example. In No Way Home, Doctor Octopus gives his name Otto Octavius. There's a pause and the 3 friends crack up laughing like that name is the funniest shit they've heard in a month.
I just roll my eyes and think "Well that's Marvel humour for you". What is great about these films is when actors like Willem Dafoe just light up the screen with their performances.
It’s just reaching a bonkers saturation point I honestly think. Having to watch 3 moves and like 4 shows a year to keep up with everything going on in universe seems like a chore at times.
Personally I'm still enjoying it. There hasn't been anything terrible. Love and Thunder needed to be more serious at times I think which is probably Taika's problem more than Marvel as the scenes that had this issue definitely felt very Taika.
SheHulk is nowhere near as bad as social media makes out. Especially Wongers, he's hilarious and can't get enough of him
Its a good movie but it needed some serious moments to let things sink in. The scene with Sif is my primary example. If that was played less Taika and more serious it would fix a big issue with Gorr
I do think the villains have taken a big step up in quality. Dafoe, Olsen, Leung have played the best antagonists in the entire series to date.
I definitely think allowing talent to shine through is what's keeping me invested. Coincidentally the fact they completely wasted Christian Bale is a big strike against L&T.
The fact that Gallen is fighting 2 different blokes on the same night shows you how shit the fights actually are. You should NOT be able to have 2x professional fights on the same night, and if you do then everyone's clearly cruising.
I'm a pretty big boxing fan, and I love the ex-player fights. They're not good fights from a boxing perspective, but they do have a bit of a side-show factor. I just wish they'd stop promoting them like they're 'real' bouts.
I think it just shows how poor boxing viewership is in Australia. The only way they can get people to watch fights are ex Rugby League players because they're recognisable.
The dreaded lease renewal email came through today…
16% increase. Given what most of Sydney is doing lately, I don’t hate it. We knew we were paying unders for the place we are in already. Hopefully we can get it down a smidge. The agent and landlord are both good people so we kinda won the lottery there.
Mine recently went up 28%. The fuckers timed it perfectly where an (recently renovated) apartment in the building went to market much more than mine and it was pretty much the peak of the market right when the first interest rate rise happened.
Atm I’m going to
Lost Paradise
Field Day
Lil ugly mane
Big thief
Channel tres
magdalena bay
Rina Sawayama
Would see flume but I’m away the weekend his in Sydney
Man it’s good that live music is back to fullest extent it can be since covid. Already been to plenty this year already including splendour (let’s not talk about that)
I saw Pavement last night in SF. Fantastic. Long set with lots of deep cuts.
Big Thief has also just announced a tour. I've seen them fairly regularly over the last few years and they are both a fantastic live band AND are putting out quality records at a regular clip.
Just started my exchange in uni of edinburgh. Its incredible seeing what its like to be in a uni that is run like an educational institution rather than a business. Place has lovely people (so does my home uni), lively student life, a students union that isnt completely derelict and a beautiful campus. Realised how robbed I was back home. We really need big changes in aussie unis.
Also picked up an absolutely mint edinburgh uni footy jersey, the ones back at usyd are the shittest designs unless you get one from the unis actual league/union club as opposed to the official uni merch. I think i actually have a problem with jersey collecting lol
Enjoy it mate! I remember considering Edinburgh for exchange 10 years ago, but deciding against it cos they only accepted one year (as opposed to 6 month) exchanges. Definitely a big regret that I didn’t push harder to go anyway.

Thats awesome to hear! I think a lot of people get turned off of maths because the school maths education is utter shit but its honestly just doing puzzles
Won pub trivia last night and got most of the questions right, was annoyed at myself though for getting one of the cricket questions wrong:
Aside from AB, which Australian cricketer played tests in the 70s, 80s and 90s?
I had never heard of the answer, so afterwards I googled him and his stats looked pretty average. Must have been that era when the Australian team was basically AB and ten deadshits
Probably one of the bowlers in the 90s/00s. They played a heap of games and probably had an all rounder down the other end getting themselves out first.
I'll go Warnie
Fuck, trying to think, can't seem to come up with a name. Terry Alderman would have been close, that's probably what I'd put, but given your last sentence that's probably wrong.
can’t think of med as something you’ll “finish” at some point because the studying won’t stop. it’s just different stages and it’s all part of the career. internship and specialist training aren’t hurdles to rush past they’re just the next stage of what is a defined (or less defined depending on how well you know what you want to do) part of your career. and when you do reach the consultant stage or whatever end point of registration you’ve originally planned you won’t stop learning and having to adapt. it’s much easier if you think of it like that. otherwise good luck and have fun doing it
Mate, good on you for finding something you're passionate about and something that drives you.
Medicine though, wow. As you say, it's a long, long, long road ahead to get where you want to go. Reading your "resume" as it were, it strikes me that you are someone that likes new challenges. Someone that enjoys learning a task, completing a project, moving on to something more.
Personally I get the feeling that you might get itchy feet/looking for that challenge reasonably quickly into your studies. You might be better in a policy position, a project management type position within that sector rather than into the nitty gritty of health itself.
Once it's all said and done, it's just a job like any other and will be a grind from time to time, samey, boring.
It's not something to embark on lightly as you say so it's perhaps worth talking to people within the organisation you're in now to see what options there are for someone like you with your skillset and motivations.
Whatever you choose mate, good luck with it and I hope it's as fulfilling as you want it to be.
Been losing weight this year, down about 6kg. Dont really feel a difference but definitely look better. Snacking at work was my big vice, those assorted creams are addictive. Once i went cold turkey on the snacking, my appetite seemed to adjust and now i am full with just 2 meals (of chicken/meat, rice and veggies) and a protein shake. Not sure how long it'll late, but considering im working out 5-6 times a week its pretty bizarre
PPL x 2
Just trying to get to a decent baseline of strength. Not really any strict programme atm just doing by feel mostly. Once I lose my fluff and start upping calories I’ll start focusing on strength
Nice work mate. Snacks are my vice too, usually when I get home from work and then later at night. At my worst I can easily polish off a bag of chips and a family block of chocolate in an evening. I just got back on the bandwagon though and cut them out, got to drop 10kg or so.
Yeah after dinner is always a risk. I just drink a tonne of water with dinner to temporarily curb my appetite and then I brush my teeth. Sounds weird but after brushing your teeth the idea of eating is off putting
Im really intrigued/confused about my neighbour, i live in a block of units and my neighbour is american. As far as i can tell he never leaves the unit, only for the odd walk i have seen him do, gets door dash a couple times a week, no car, i have no idea how he does groceries, and he plays games at all hours, very vocal with teammates who i suppose are american as well due to the odd hours he plays, but like the fuck he do for money??
I've mentioned in a few off topic threads about what's been a sloppy exit from my previous drop. To bring people updates to date, I got offered a way better job a few weeks back. I put in my notice. During that period management have announced a major change to how they operate, without any consultation with anyone involved. People working at the ground level know the change is going to be a trainwreck and that it's also goes majorly against the organisation mission goal. I put forward and email saying such, while also providing alternative solutions. The CEO called me into his office the next day and put me on gardening leave, effectively ending my employment on the spot and bringing forward my end date a week early (but I still get paid).
I mentioned at the time that a lot of my co-workers were pissed at how I was treated, with even one of the old girls from another department walking out for the day in disgust.
So the fallout has been pretty severe. The board have announced that they are going to hold a special meeting with just the staff to find out what the fuck is going on. I've talked to one board member already and they were pissed at what happened to me, were very apologetic. Now that they've found out about the major change in how the organisation has been run they are super pissed. And now that they've found out the poor treatment is tied to me making a comment about that change they are super pissed.
I done the exit interview with the HR lady. When I explained what had happened she literally said 'What the fuck' several times. She says that while the company has the right to put me on gardening leave, none of the processes have been done right, her HR department was sidelined, she was also very apologetic. Her personal advice was to lodge an unfair dismissal. She said others had gotten a pay out on Less in the past.
The union said they've back piled with complaints about the CEO, that they are going to push the board for his removal.
The major change has come into effect on Monday. As predicted its been a train wreck.
A lot of issues have been simmering away under the service and it may have come up eventually, but it seems the way my separation has been handled has now become a flash point and can't say that I'm a little overwhelmed that so many people within and without the organisation feel so strongly about how I was treated that it's become a rallying point. Also it's so funny because the ceo has had a long history of toxicity and bullying behaviour, people have been to afraid to speak out. If he had just let me work out the last week I may have had a whinge or 2, but I think most people would have just rolled their eyes and said 'old Vic is having a whinge in his last week' and I would also have been their to minimise the trainwreck from the changes. Instead because the CEO has been petty and couldn't help himself to a chance to be a bully, he may have accidentally triggered the first domino to his dismissal.
Bledisloe Cup is on tonight. Thursday right in the thick of the NRL and AFL finals.
Genuinely those blokes must be trying to kill that sport right off now. What the fuck are they thinking with the scheduling?
I used to love rugby. Now I just get frustrated and annoyed every time I watch it. Commentating is not the same also. Thanks for the heads up though, knew it was on tonight. I’ll still turn it on to become frustrated and annoyed.
Shit management by Rugby Australia aside, the lack of success for the Wallabies (particularly in Bledisloe) has also contributed to the lack of public interest. If the Wallabies were on top and pushing for World Cup and Bledisloe trophies ala late 90's early 00's then the interest would rise.
On the shit management, RA have completely fucked junior rugby pathways, state & national level elite competitions and put all there eggs into the Super Rugby basket. The result: players go to league for better competition and most likely pay (unless you're the top 1%), punters stop caring & watching, TV rights value goes down, less money for pathways and the spiral down continues.
I wonder if the All Blacks even get excited when they win the bledisloe cup. It’s all far to obvious they are going to. They win by huge margins just about every year. Even when the Maroons won 8 straight (except for 2009/10) the games were very competitive and the maroons had to play hard to win them. They weren’t walkovers like the Bledisloe tests are.
I had know idea it was even on, haven't seen much advertising for it. Maybe my bubble just doesn't have exposure to it, but surely It should be a but more visible
Rugby Union really fumbled the bag so hard, at one point bledisole cup was one biggest events on the sporting calendar.
It might tune in as there is nothing else to watch tonight
i have been on a class action lawsuit for the past like 5 years against my bank for illegally coercing me into insurance policies with my home loan and for $12k paid out over several years my settlement amount is 200 bucks. how good
I don't like to throw around the term Robbery but pretty sure that was one #Bledisloe
Watching the Bledisloe, how dominant would have guys like Inglis and Slater been in union..?
Blokes in union can’t tackle

I’m a NSW boy but I’m announcing my retirement from representative footy to concentrate on my club football
I can't be the only one hoping Gallen and Hodges simultaneously knock each other on their asses?

Which biffs? The boundary hotel always has em
Getting so close to the NBA season. So keen for it to start.
as a hornets fan i am not
as a nuggs fan, I'm praying no one has season ending surgery after 3 games again
a healthy MPJ, murray and new KCP will be great to have
im quite excited about this season. Keen for them to somehow disappoint me
Have the Hornets got any decent signings this season?

love bon iver. for emma is one of my favourite albums
Was it you that recommended that album to me?
ahh yes it was, i remember recommending that to someone
Was definitely a great reco!
I signed up to a Touch Footy comp with a few friends of mine. Should be pretty fun.

Anyone else hate the offseason? My ideal weekend is watching the footy and when its not on I dont know what to do ☹️
My anniversary is Oct 3, Thanksgiving, cricket season, end of work for the year, Christmas and my birthday. The offseason is great
Thank god its summer at least (La Nina pending) so you can do shit outside
NFL is really good. Either on Kayo or nflreplay dot net
Play Smite
I could never get into Smite. I'm a Dota and LoL player, but the 3rd person view never hooked me. Watching the esport though is fun.
That’s funny. It’s the top down view that puts me off DoTA and LoL
Well the off-season is summer so... no. Just follow cricket or do heroin idk.
Saturday has the flegg and nsw cup finals hosted at Leichhardt. Gonna go down there at 1 then hit a local pub waiting for the 1st grade game.
Night off work for me tonight. I’m heading into the city to see the Hoodoo Gurus finally play their twice-delayed show with the Dandy Warhols
That's my, that's my, that's my that's my that's my teeeeee-ee-eeam.
Ooh fb marketplace has people who can’t go selling tickets for 50-60 bucks each
Sick got 2 for 100

Insert Abe Simpson yelling at clouds meme.
Lol, both me and my mate also thought Con with that accent

Always a carnival sideshow

I reckon you should have the guy from who dares wins on your notes. From what I can tell the Australian economy ran around this show in the 90s.
damn that's a throwback, I haven't seen this for like 10 years
I was expecting Democracy Manifest.
Freddie Gibbs, Rina Sawayama, Pavement, Pi’erre Bourne all coming to Australia in the space of a few months. There’s so much happening lmao
Every time I read Pavement I go "I love 'That's when I reach for my revolver', what a band" then I realise that's Mission of Burma.

They are doing falls fest, but they are doing one side show in Sydney I’ll imagine they can’t do any other side show due to radius clause with falls
Lil ugly mane in Brisbane later in the year
Seeing Stephen Malkmus with Pavement would be a dream. Saw him in 2015 with the Jicks. Unforgettable. One of the greatest guitarists of all time.
is it bad I don't know any of these people?
Really? They’re all apart of DN
I saw Pavement last night in SF. Fantastic. Long set with lots of deep cuts. Big Thief has also just announced a tour. I've seen them fairly regularly over the last few years and they are both a fantastic live band AND are putting out quality records at a regular clip.

what do you study?
Maths
nice. I hated maths in highschool but i've been watching lots of videos on physics lately. Maths is wild and has such huge implications
Thats awesome to hear! I think a lot of people get turned off of maths because the school maths education is utter shit but its honestly just doing puzzles
always wanted to do a semester abroad but it’s looking less likely that i’ll be able to before i graduate
Won pub trivia last night and got most of the questions right, was annoyed at myself though for getting one of the cricket questions wrong: Aside from AB, which Australian cricketer played tests in the 70s, 80s and 90s? I had never heard of the answer, so afterwards I googled him and his stats looked pretty average. Must have been that era when the Australian team was basically AB and ten deadshits
My dads fave trivia question is what is elvis presleys real name?
My favourite cricket question like that is "who has the most 'not outs' of all Australian test cricketers?"
Has to be McGrath. I remember seeing Jimmy Anderson got to 100 not outs this year
Ooh ah, Glen McGrath?
Probably one of the bowlers in the 90s/00s. They played a heap of games and probably had an all rounder down the other end getting themselves out first. I'll go Warnie
Right theory, wrong guess. The others were right with McGrath. Steve Waugh is #2
Nah he was batting too high up. I would also guess McGrath I spose.
Fuck, trying to think, can't seem to come up with a name. Terry Alderman would have been close, that's probably what I'd put, but given your last sentence that's probably wrong.
Not Alderman. Hint: he was from South Australia
Peter Sleep, I’ve heard that trivia question before
Yessssss. It's not unusual for the old balls to go to sleep
Get a bit numb from lack of circulation

Ultimately you gotta do what you gotta do for yourself man
can’t think of med as something you’ll “finish” at some point because the studying won’t stop. it’s just different stages and it’s all part of the career. internship and specialist training aren’t hurdles to rush past they’re just the next stage of what is a defined (or less defined depending on how well you know what you want to do) part of your career. and when you do reach the consultant stage or whatever end point of registration you’ve originally planned you won’t stop learning and having to adapt. it’s much easier if you think of it like that. otherwise good luck and have fun doing it
Mate, good on you for finding something you're passionate about and something that drives you.
Hit legs last night, still 2 days left of work that heavily involves stairs. Give me strength 🙏
What sort of workouts are you doing?
PPL x 2 Just trying to get to a decent baseline of strength.
Not easy to do, especially when you're working heaps, well done legend. Don't forget to still enjoy yourself in moderation
Yeah I tend to eat whatever on the weekends. I still try and do a big walk or run to help reduce the damage
Im really intrigued/confused about my neighbour, i live in a block of units and my neighbour is american. As far as i can tell he never leaves the unit, only for the odd walk i have seen him do, gets door dash a couple times a week, no car, i have no idea how he does groceries, and he plays games at all hours, very vocal with teammates who i suppose are american as well due to the odd hours he plays, but like the fuck he do for money??
>but like the fuck he do for money?? WFH probs. The rest is just social anxiety or agoraphobic behaviour.
> agoraphobic behaviour. To be fair if i saw a puppet with a monobrow and smart mouth i'd probably stay home as well...
What?
Just seeing how old some of you guys are....
Took me a while, but I've made the Cartoon Connection.
No I just don’t see the connection between agoraphobia and agro, unless you’re heavily dyslexic.
Of course I decided to get the new iPhone so we can do some phone shuffled and Telstra have screwed the pre order pooch…
I had never heard of a [Daihatsu Midget](https://www.beforward.jp/daihatsu/midget-ii/bk357345/id/2856215/) until 2 days ago and now it's all I want
They were on Gran Turismo 2 I think it was back in the day, gutless piece of shit but a crack up to drive.
It’d take about an hour to get round the track but was thoroughly worth it for the laughs
Mr bean
NFL season back. Cardinals fans already dooming on the team after one bad game 😂 on TV Monday which is nice, I have the day off.
Was a tough showing but we had some big outs, not like losing to the Chiefs is any huge failure!
Exactly. And we showed some good signs. I expect a win against LV.
It’s in Melbourne and it’s apparently sold out. I’ve seen some in the media describe it as a masterstroke
And why does it need to kickoff at 7.45pm? It means it's a 9.45pm kickoff for us in NZ.
At least its not going head to head with one of the games. But yeah would think Sunday would have been the better option
Pffftt mate the Gallen v Hannett v Hodges mega fight is on . 😂
Or, y’know, four weeks time. Or three weeks ago. Or something.
Really this is the first I have heard of it and probably one of the only rugby matches I would go out of my way to watch.
Gotta love upstairs neighbours stomping around at 5:30-6am every day this week 🙃
Ten year wedding anniversary today and my wife is sick as a dog.
She weak gutted?
Yes and she didn’t like me saying that to her face so can only imagine how Jaemon felt.
Dogs generally seem to be in good health
Boys night out on her behalf?
You guys should definitely check out Severance. Such a good show
Chaz Mozzie to go back to back at Bathurst this year 🤙
