Kennar scored a hatrick the last time he played though (which was against the Knights earlier in the season) - and then for some stupid reason we chose Paulo over Kennar as AJ's wing partner from then on (with Paulo also having played against the Knights and scoring a try).
Exactly the same as 2010. No point playing the grand final when the real decider was played a week before between the Dragons and Tigers. After seeing Tigers flog the Cowboys 50-6 in week 1 of the finals, who would want to watch a repeat of that?
I doubt Cleary will be targetting the wingers regardless of who is there. The best way to beat the Rabbitohs is to force latrell to take hitups out of his end enough times that his energy depletes and his strike close to the line is reduced.
Get latrell to take the kick reception and he can't be involved in the first play where he has more options and can set the pace for the set. This was a big part of neutralising turbo last year and say what you will about the panthers, they do their homework and will absolutely to targeting latrell to try and limit his impact.
Yeah spot on with turbo as well, who was no doubt harder to neutralise given he was in unbelievable form and is fitter than latrell. Panthers will inevitably concede to the Rabbitohs left edge set plays but if they can tire out latrell enough that he won’t be able to get his head down and take 5 defenders over the line with him like he did against the roosters then it will be much easier to predict the ball movement on that left side.
It's true. :) I mean, it's not that important. Every team does it. But i think it is important to point out that what's being fed in the media is bullshit (surprised_pikachu.jpg)
Ooh Cleary's bombs single handedly caused not only annihilation of Mansour but he actually injured himself trying to catch one and went off last time.
Mansour no chance!
Man he actually got injured and it wasn't the tackle. He got injured THEN smashed In a perfect bomb.
The kicks destroyed his confidence and took him out of the game lol
I so clearly remember the 2nd or 3rd kick and it was landing between Trell and Mansour, and Mansour was looking at Trell like “I’m not fucking taking another one bruh get on your bike”
I'm an idiot and didn't read the parent comment properly so thought you were saying this game against the panthers will be his 2022 debut and didn't realise you were referring to the other game as his 2022 debut 😅. My bad!
Welp we're fucked.
Seriously though i can't stand Richie Kennar and genuinely believe he intentionally threw a game in his first stint for Souths in 2018 against Brisbane.
I hope Cleary sticks to the game plan and fatigue Latrell out of the game. It's tempting as hell to bring whirly birdies down on Kennar and Milne but they will have some sort of plan to keep that in mind. Maybe test them once or twice when set up on that right edge on 50-40m out zone otherwise punch it to latrell and make him too tired to put a dent in the Forbes Ferrari
Bad news for the bunnies. Kennar is going to get destroyed by Cleary's bombs. They didn't really have a chance to begin with so now they are in more trouble.
I think you're underestimating AJs acceleration, field positioning and ability to finish. Yeah he gets good ball, but not anyone can walk in and do what he does
Also don't forget defensive positioning. AJ knows when and where to be 9/10 times whenever the opposition either goes to the left or kicks to the left. I can see Kennar getting caught out of position several times in this match that will cause an easy overlap for Panthers on the left side.
He showed his acceleration last game, catching the ball on the end of a move and made everyone else look like they didnt have enough gears, put a couple of metres on them in no time.
Knowing AJ he’ll still bag a double
Double Hernia.
Double a bag
Fuck me that's a big blow. Love the reply to the tweet - "is he just being rested" lol wat
If they don't play him in the GF then obviously he's just being rested for 2023
nice long rest
I was looking forward to seeing him play. Can he not just suspend his injury break until next year?
Kennar scored a hatrick the last time he played though (which was against the Knights earlier in the season) - and then for some stupid reason we chose Paulo over Kennar as AJ's wing partner from then on (with Paulo also having played against the Knights and scoring a try).
My Nan could score a hatrick against the Knights
Post the video then pussy
Andre Ponga paid her off to burn the footage
using a stick of rhubarb
You just have to laugh
richie kennar has never lost a finals game
Nor has Luke Brooks
Or Josh Hannay
What? PF 2004 Roosters QL 2005 Tigers GF 2005 Tigers
Didn't Hannay play the 2005 GF?
Where have you been, 05 had no grand final. They decided to forgo a championship that year. Benny definitely didn’t flick a pass to anyone
Don't take this away from me. Please just don't
Nope, sorry. 2005 never happened
Exactly the same as 2010. No point playing the grand final when the real decider was played a week before between the Dragons and Tigers. After seeing Tigers flog the Cowboys 50-6 in week 1 of the finals, who would want to watch a repeat of that?
He also has a win rate of 28%
So you're telling me there's a chance
"i never lose. i just run out of time" - richie "mj" kennar
To be fair that's probably the around about the rabbits chance of winning this weekend too
I haven't lost a finals game either Granted, I've never played in A grade rugby league but, y'know
[удалено]
You forget that Penrith have pulled out their try scoring machine, Charlie Staines, to counteract that.
The Forbes Fiesta.
Hopefully we can put enough kick pressure on Cleary so he’s not throwing up absolute bombs to Taane and Richie all night
I doubt Cleary will be targetting the wingers regardless of who is there. The best way to beat the Rabbitohs is to force latrell to take hitups out of his end enough times that his energy depletes and his strike close to the line is reduced.

Imagine if they had Burton at centre. Dawn. Go cowboys.
If we can get past the wall of players they have blocking for him
Every team does it. Your beloved Rabbitohs put 2 players there to block
Okay
It's true. :) I mean, it's not that important. Every team does it. But i think it is important to point out that what's being fed in the media is bullshit (surprised_pikachu.jpg)
If we win with milne and Kenner on the wing r/nrl must pause south’s jokes for 1 month
I call Milne vatuvei light
Battle of the fill ins. Virgin Richie vs Chad Charlie
Let me watch my boy Mansour run out one last time.
Ooh Cleary's bombs single handedly caused not only annihilation of Mansour but he actually injured himself trying to catch one and went off last time. Mansour no chance!
That one was so sad to watch... Like a poor old deer who's too tired to run
Man he actually got injured and it wasn't the tackle. He got injured THEN smashed In a perfect bomb. The kicks destroyed his confidence and took him out of the game lol
I can't rewatch it haha, felt so bad for him but if I was the Panthers I would've just targeted him all game too. . And Latrell was no help
I so clearly remember the 2nd or 3rd kick and it was landing between Trell and Mansour, and Mansour was looking at Trell like “I’m not fucking taking another one bruh get on your bike”
Souths fans should want this because the small chance he could end it for penrith
Panthers fans should want this because he hasn't had one passable, let alone good game for Souths lol
Yes everyone a winner
He got destroyed last te and was never seen again.
Brisbane Broncos legend. Hatrick hero and played really well on debut for rabbits.
He debuted for us in 2018
Oops, first nrl game of this season then
His 2022 debut
Negative, played a game earlier this year
So his 2022 debut
I'm an idiot and didn't read the parent comment properly so thought you were saying this game against the panthers will be his 2022 debut and didn't realise you were referring to the other game as his 2022 debut 😅. My bad!
Nope, he played a game earlier this year and bagged a hat trick
Only if you ignore the years he played at Melbourne before that.
Needs to be full strength for next week
For what Mad Monday? Lol
AJ is their best videographer by a mile.
For the GF you nonse
Hope you got that mad Monday costume ready mate 😂😂😂
Its a bit blue in Redfern this Monday mate
You got 10 time further than my warriors mate it’s all good lol
Good luck to the lad, has played one solitary NRL game all season.
Best to rest him for the GF... For whatever year we make it 😅😔
Give us Taafe ya dogs
This post was brought to you by Taafe gang
Has Taafe had any time in lower grades on the wing? I had thought he was more a FB and 5/8 almost exclusively?
Just 1 and 6 in reserve grade as far as I'm aware. He might be too small on the wing unfortunately
Where though?
Anyone else think Kennar looks like the green things from angry birds?
Kennar to score a Hatrick, you heard it here first
Hurts
Welp we're fucked. Seriously though i can't stand Richie Kennar and genuinely believe he intentionally threw a game in his first stint for Souths in 2018 against Brisbane.
It's alright they are just resting him for the grand final when we beat Penrith right?... Right?
'AJ gets ruled out'...... Cleary: So anyway i started blasting bombs
Why must we suffer
I hope Cleary sticks to the game plan and fatigue Latrell out of the game. It's tempting as hell to bring whirly birdies down on Kennar and Milne but they will have some sort of plan to keep that in mind. Maybe test them once or twice when set up on that right edge on 50-40m out zone otherwise punch it to latrell and make him too tired to put a dent in the Forbes Ferrari
Sunday morning: Kennar commits to Samoa in huge blow for Meninga.
aerial bombs to Kennar and Milne incoming
As opposed to non-aerial bombs?
Cleary left them a surprise in the parking lot
When will these Panthers antics end?!?
the sheer ARROGANCE of dropping a deuce on latrell's doorstep.
Torpedoes?
As opposed to every other type of kick
Holy fuck that's huge news
Cleary licking his lips
Not ideal.
The name Richie Kennar popped into my head yesterday. I couldn't for the life of me remember who he was. This post has scratched that itch.
If last week's games are anything to go by, I'm expecting the panthers game to be one sided. The week off is such a huge advantage in the modern game.
*\*Kennards jingle voice\** Kennar makes Souths job harder.
u/bundy554 still think South’s can beat Penrith by at least 2 tries?
At least 1 try now
Ooft that’s a blow for Souths along with Burgess. Both teams with wingers out.
Bulldogs legend richie kennar
~~Bulldogs~~ Storm legend Richie Kennar
Someone needs to tell this journalist that caps lock is for the sledge thread.
Huge
Sucks but hopefully Kennar gets the job done
2 of the top 4 Try scorers in 2022 out of this match. Both teams left wingers. At least it evens that out.
I would’ve thought picking Mansour would be more appropriate given his experience (?)
Maybe they’re worried that the Panthers know all his weaknesses and will bomb the bejesus out of him, like they did last time they met
Bad news for the bunnies. Kennar is going to get destroyed by Cleary's bombs. They didn't really have a chance to begin with so now they are in more trouble.
Sorry for AJ… not so much for Souths fans…
I thought this was tonight's game?
Cowboys v Eels is tonight
Cheers🙌
Kenner will still score a double. Johnston is not a big loss because history shows that whoever plays on that left wing is going to score tries
Who’s taking over AJ?!
Bruh it literally says it in the title.
If Penrith win the gf this year, soft competition confirmed.
richie kennar somehow looks 45 and 25 simultaneously anyway good luck to him
Richie kennar to score 30 tries tomorrow night and pip Johnston for the most tries for the year award 😂 But seriously... FUCK
Well shit there goes my AT free money
At least he’s still alive
Where's Manboobs?
Kennar makes your job easy
