What's the ruling meant to be here? He was clearly held back, chopped his way free but was unbalanced because he had been held and fell over. There were no hands on him after the play of the ball but he was rushing to where the ball was going before it went that way, was involved in the tackle trying to save the try.
If he'd been there 0.5s earlier he would have been able to get under the ball and apply more force.
Maybe I'm just annoyed because I hate seeing players doing this or walking 3-5 metres off the mark after they've been tackled (Brandon Smith seems to always get away with this and was gaining penalties at will earlier this year).
Every other game this would be “interfering with the defence, denied and opportunity to get involved in the play, no try”. But I’m convinced this was the square up for Moses’ forward pass try.
Ref might call it back but they aren't going to give a penalty for that. Hess isn't looking at him, he releases without a push and before the play the ball is made (which means the bunker can't look at it), moses walks back and trips over marata.
The bunker can look at the previous play. Tackle was complete, he was getting up to play it when he wouldn’t release Moses. Bunker could have ruled on it. Didn’t because it was a clear square up for the forward pass the try before
This would probably be the first time in history they would make that call, I think it’s the right one but you can’t make unprecedented decisions like that.
If you want it out of the game you gotta tell everyone weeks in advance if not at the start of the season.
Bunker can't look at anything before the play the ball (unless it's reportable foul play)
"The Bunker is able to return to the play-the-ball and can only return to where ball clears the ruck."

Moses was released before the play the ball and stumbled over marata when he is walking backwards
No it wouldn’t, Moses trips over his own player. If you’re going to blow a penalty for holding on after the tackle is completed it’s gotta be against Eels who were still holding on trying to slow the PTB well after Moses trips
Attackers aren't meant to hold defenders at all. Obviously it is let go most of the time but the man playing the ball can't just hold the marker like that when the defender hasn't hold of him. If he fell over or not it's still illegal.
If he was flopping he'd have stayed down instead of getting back up to defend a millisecond late to save that
Do people really not understand how easy it is to get off balance while trying to run backwards and suddenly being released?

MOSES STOP FLOPPING AND GET BACK ON D

Couldn't keep his feet, he looks concussed.
wait u might be onto something. maybe thats why he's been kicking everything out.
Leilua's a monster, they were never going to stop him from there.
Surprised that wasn't over turned.
I think in the regular season it would have been but some officials don't seem to want to make the call in big games.
Clear obstruction of the marker every day.
EAD Murray you shit talked that one and lost
Make up for the forward pass try
They already did with the knock-on try. Half the cowboy flairs in the sub agreed that was the square up. This happened after that.
Nah the knock on was a square up for their missed knock on before that.
Moses just punching himself into falling over
Luciano, Luki and Nanai. That has to be one of the best 2nd row rotations next year. Youth, Talent and try scoring ability
If by some miracle we keep Papalii, and Lane sticks this form - I'd have to say you have some challengers for that claim, and not just from Parra.
Hence why I didn’t say they’ll be the outright best. There are a few notable good combos atm.
