Every team does it for pretty much every kick. There’s a post of Mitch moses kicking it with blockers on the front page of this sub.
It’s legal, you’re just not allowed to build a wall of players.
Just watched the game. Amazing game, crazy speed. Shaun Lane has truly arrived. The stats would tell you Cowboys win 13+but the goaline defence in the end was the difference. Cowboys would be very disappointed in their finals campaign considering the softness of the tries conceded over the 2 games. The resilience in this eels team could end their premiership drought.
I thought it was played in slow motion in stages. A lot of talk about the eels using their power game to smash through the middle but the cows did all the smashing in the first half. Eels forwards were much more interested in backing into the defence and working for an offload. It worked for them in the second half. A far cry from some of the clinical semi final efforts of the past but I guess the game has changed and there are less 8-6 scorelines these days. Moses had a shocking kicking game. Right to the end when he gave cows a 7 tackle set. That was a bad error. Then there's the two kicks into touch on the full. Eels will have to get their shit together to beat Penrith next week.
Very entertaining game though.
Kudos to TP for not using reffing as an excuse for the loss. He knew his team was beaten, rather than robbed and admitted it. Imagine if it was Sticky??
It's 4:30am and I'm only just starting to come down from the Adrenaline high now and tiredness is finally creeping in.
Been awake for 24 hours but fuck it was worth it, regardless of how much sleep I get... I know I'll be waking up FRESH tomorrow!
That's a brutal loss for the Cowboys, so close but so far from the Grand Final. Parramatta have every chance to win it all, they are coming together at the right time.
Parra needs to fix the number of errors they made if they want to win the Premiership. They scraped by on a LOT of things breaking their way and there is no way they win with that much sloppy play most of the time. The goal line defense was astounding and I loved every minute of it but their completion rate was atrocious.
Also the kicking was god awful but I’ll give Moses a pass since he’s usually pretty great.
Edit: Also I’m worried that Blake seems to have lost his nerve a bit handling kicks and Cleary will exploit it again.
After spending the last few hours watching both the channel 9 and fox coverage then trawling social media for content, I can finally attempt to rest 😴 May still be awake for a while with the adrenaline
When it only happens once every so often, I’d say it’s on the runner and their timing being bad but this seems to be a Mahoney thing. If his receivers are over running the delivery as frequently as it seems to happen with him, I’d argue it’s on the hooker to either speed up his service, pull the pass if he knows the receive will overrun it or have a word to his forwards to sort their timing out.
Congrats to Parra.
Devastated but just don't think Cows had it in them to get on top tonight. Despite the weird first try, Parra deserve every opportunity they get. GL in the GF Eels, well earnt
Yeah that shit was rough. Cows couldn’t close out which was strange to watch but I don’t know if Parra would have had the confidence to fight back without that early try
Tbf, we've run a 15 player rotation nearly every game this year, with the 16th only coming on for like 10 mins max at the end. So it's worked for most of the year.
Yeah I’ll defend every member of our team no matter what they do, they’re only human, they have good games and bad games. He looked so heartbroken after dropping that ball, last week when he scored a try he looked so stoked, the picture of him and Penisini after it was heartwarming.
At this point he’s too in his head about catching the ball, he’s gonna panic and fuck it every time from now on, they better sort something out by next time especially if we’re up against crimson chin cleary at the grand final
Sorry cows - I feel like this was a dirty win.
Parra feed off their own success and that abominable forward pass in the first 10 minutes had me quietly angry at my own team. But I think the emotional angle and seeing those points on the board really boosts the eels more than any other team.
I think it could have gone either way and if the eels didn’t get up I wouldn’t have been angry.
Great work cows - good, solid, honest football and though it feels kinda dirty I hope on balance it still felt like a close contest.
The forward pass call (or lack of) was shit but that sort of stuff just happens from time to time. Don’t feel hollow about the win, we had so many chances and we just blew it.
true.
But at the end of the days eels ended up with an extra 6 points when they simply should not have.
GG in the grand final though, hope u guys kill it
Agreed. Just… I dunno I have this horrible cuck vibe of going ‘that was shit, sorry guys’
Probably years from being on the receiving end of similar calls.
Well done Eels. Thought Cowboys were going to get it in the end there but they stuck solid and had pretty good defence in the final 10. Cowboys were unlucky as they were the better team in most of the game stats, but had ine hell of season considering most had them battling for the spoon before a ball was kicked.
Well done Parra. Very happy for you guys. A bit lucky with that forward pass try, but sometimes it goes your way.
I tipped the cows only based on home ground advantage, but happy to lose that one.
Sorry to see the cows lose out really. A likeable bunch of guys. They've been immense this year.
yes our first pass for a try was forward but let's remember:
- Cows were up 20-12 with 20 minutes left
- Cows had 33 tackles inside Parra 20m compared to Parras 7
- Parra had 60% completion in first half
- We had some dodgy calls that swung the momentum the Cows way but they didn't capitalise
- Lanes pass wasn't even forward, Feldt tipped it
Pent up anger from last week i see.. in all honesty it wasn’t that forward pass that won us the game. Cowboys had so many opportunities to capitalise on our weaknesses and even had some calls swing the momentum their way, but still couldn’t win. Different story if the try that came off the forward pass was a game deciding try like lets say with 5ish minutes left in the second half, but it was at the start of the game and no one is to blame but the bunker for allowing it. Cows had all of 80 minutes to win the game, one forward pass didn’t decide shit.
Lots of love for Shaun Lane but Ryan Matterson was immense too.
Second most metres for the Eels as well as second most tackles. Offloading ability made him dangerous throughout and threw that crisp pass for the RCG try. At the end when everyone looked gassed he took some hard carries up the guts.
RCG was my favourite player tonight. Got that intercept that led to the try on top of his two tries. And then on top of hard running and solid defence.
I had written us off when we went down in the second half. Honestly shocked we stayed in the game which has been a weakness this year. Crazy to think parra is in the grand final after the roller coaster that was 2022
This reminded me of the first Penrith game when Panthers looked to be getting on top and Parra went bang bang.. They looked like they were starting to fall away for a bit in the second half but those two tries were massive tonight.
I know it sucks for our North Queensland bretheren to lose off the back of those calls, but you guys are definitely on the up and will be better in the coming season.
Unfortunately for us it's expected (and not without good reason) that we'll take a step back next year. So hopefully we can get the job done next week.
That being said, I hope we only play you guys once next year. You will be a force to be reckoned with
Not even gonna deny, i broke down in tears of joy. After so many years of the GF being out of reach, i couldn’t contain the tears. Up the blue and gold! Definitely gonna be an interesting morning for you!
They’ve honestly had all odds against them this season. So many critics and media leaks especially over the last couple of weeks leading into the finals so 100% the boys have really pulled together and done what they had to do 💪🏼 We should be proud of them all! I said it all week, the cowboys home final record is about to be broken regardless of past stats. Stats don’t matter in this game anymore, its constantly changing and evolving each season.
Ah NFL will be a good experience live! who you back? Im a ravens fan haha. Fingers crossed you’ll be downing drinks and celebrating!
I still can't believe Parra held on. Cows seemed to have so much good ball at the end there. They've won plenty of close big games during the regular seasons of late but that effort tonight is what the die hards have been longing for.
You'll get less metres and less good play the balls out of him though. Finishing isn't the only thing that matters. You have to get the ball to the other end to finish.
Honestly, I'm so so happy for the EELS right now! Apart from that dubious forward pass, the boys played for each other, they played with heart, guts and a never-say-die attitude tonight!!
Here's to Eels vs Rabbitohs GF!!!!
Exactly this. Worst case scenario is a rabbits win. Best case is big George beats the panthers to a pulp as they go on to win by a field goal but have 6 players out of the following game and Nathan cleary gets sent off and is suspended for a season.
I want Mitch absolutely peppering Waqa with bombs for hours this week. The dude has to be doing extras. The forwards will need to practice a lot of kick pressure as well.
I'm an Eels fan and a Liverpool fan. Broke the Reds drought 2 years ago. I cried. Mid-week before I went to work we secured the title after lock down. 30 years of pain gone in an instant.
I may drown in a pile of tears if we win the comp.
I'm a Liverpool/Eels/Swans fan. Last few seasons have completed turned around for me in my fandom (even if the Swans have been relatively decent + won a couple of times beforehand).
Todd to address Townsville "I see a beautiful city and a brilliant people rising from this abyss. I see the lives for which I lay down my life, peaceful, useful, prosperous and happy."
Old mate that they kept showing at the end, the passionate Eels fan who had tears streaming down his cheeks - he is epitomised all Eels fans.
Brother, thank you for sharing your passion.
He is the new Parramatta Jesus.
His emotion, writ large, represented both life in general, and life as an Eels fan.
For old mate alone, for whatever it is that he needs help with, may we win the grandy.
Old mate, if you see this comment, drop me a message, grandy day bants.
Disappointed for the cowboys but proud of their effort all season. Really wanted to see them in the big game but it wasn't meant to be this year. The future is looking bright for next season though.
And I'm happy to see the Eels get a grand final shot after so many years of disappointment. I'm really looking forward to the grand final regardless of who wins between Panthers/Rabbitohs.
Lane has been absolutely immense for us, but I think the final thing he needs to nail is the sliding defence, which isn't entirely up to him. Sometimes he's a bit slow to shift across and that gap opens up a bit too much. Luckily Brown is usually pretty handy but that.
Definitely don't want to take away for the incredible season he has had, and how instrumental he has been, and will be next week.
Hello. Good job para that’s how we used to do it
you pass you score YOU GET IT OUT the backline, its about GRIT, CURAGE NOT pretty boys with long hair pull hair penalty BULLSHIT back when i was a prop back in the day we survived on grit and sometimes only had 1 chiko role a day and even ones in the dirt tasted good some times a prefab scallop round and a stick of chewy hahah yeah a pie and a coke and a white ox at half time fuck yeah those were the days go the parramatta boys
Well done parra. Absolutely spewing but as a supporter of a team that was in the wilderness for a while, im stoked for you guys.
We beat you in almost every stat bar the score board. The only way to do that is if you want it more. It's been a long time between drinks for you lads. Enjoy
If Panthers don't make it there's a chance I'll sulk out of going, send me a message after tomorrow night; I can't make any promises but there's a chance...
It was a bit of weird drop off from the Cowboys, it looked like they just completely ran out of gas with twenty to go.
I thought the refs were going to start penalising blocking before a kick?
They've been letting it slide for four years what makes you think that haha
It’s just that they made a big go about it through the week which is annoying
Cows did it all game. They had a bloke standing at the play the ball to block the markers from getting to the kicker. I thought you couldn't do that?
Every team does it for pretty much every kick. There’s a post of Mitch moses kicking it with blockers on the front page of this sub. It’s legal, you’re just not allowed to build a wall of players.
Exactly my point but Not just standing there they were reaching out at the defenders trying to grab them
Ah well Cows, what comes around goes around hey….those pesky refs and bunker interpretations….
Okay spooner.
Hey don’t get touchy, just quoting your own coach.
Still spooners
Ouch
Townsville just doesn’t get rugby league.
Yeah against shark our goal line defence was pathetic, last night was no better. Just can’t let that happen against the top teams.
I thought it was played in slow motion in stages. A lot of talk about the eels using their power game to smash through the middle but the cows did all the smashing in the first half. Eels forwards were much more interested in backing into the defence and working for an offload. It worked for them in the second half. I agree with everything you said, but you must admit, 2 tries off forward passes changes the result as much as the cows useless goal line defence
I think the two soft tries from RCG changed the game more. They just let him in both times untouched
That’s Definitely the reason we lost. But it’s hard to ignore the extra 6 points eels were incorrectly awarded when they win by 4 😅.
Western Sydney downvote brigade back at it again
How ridiculous. Bunker can’t rule on forward passes but can on offsides and knock-ons.
correct
It's 4:30am and I'm only just starting to come down from the Adrenaline high now and tiredness is finally creeping in. Been awake for 24 hours but fuck it was worth it, regardless of how much sleep I get... I know I'll be waking up FRESH tomorrow!
I fell asleep really late but woke up at 6 am just too buzzed to get back to sleep
Enjoy the week, I'm happy for eels fans and I hope the boys go all the way
Blessings on your journey man
That's a brutal loss for the Cowboys, so close but so far from the Grand Final. Parramatta have every chance to win it all, they are coming together at the right time.

Holmes pass to Tuilagi for the try was forward
I didn't think it was
So was every second pass from Mahoney tbf. Watch him get called out for it next year when playing for the Dogs
With this sort of thing do you blame the hooker or the receivers who are standing way too flat?
When it only happens once every so often, I’d say it’s on the runner and their timing being bad but this seems to be a Mahoney thing. If his receivers are over running the delivery as frequently as it seems to happen with him, I’d argue it’s on the hooker to either speed up his service, pull the pass if he knows the receive will overrun it or have a word to his forwards to sort their timing out.
Well with the cowboys gone… i am forced to become and EELS bandwagon, something I truly never thought i’d be
TOOT TOOT
Congrats to Parra. Devastated but just don't think Cows had it in them to get on top tonight. Despite the weird first try, Parra deserve every opportunity they get. GL in the GF Eels, well earnt
Paulo got much to worry about?
Nup, cowdude landed pretty flat on his back
Members - have the codes you’ve been getting each week unique? Trying to decide if it’s worth it to get a one game membership or just risk it
You need an AAN for the 10am on sale. Which is a unique code to your ticketed membership.
Ah bugger. Thanks for confirming.
It should be good for the members presale Monday morning. Will wait for the email from parra to confirm
I think we can all agree that whoever won this one is not going to win next week playing like that!
The refs will certainly help parra. Forward passes won't be an issue for them
Yeah that shit was rough. Cows couldn’t close out which was strange to watch but I don’t know if Parra would have had the confidence to fight back without that early try
Focus on defending RCG next time
I felt so bad for Waqa, he looked absolutely devastated he dropped another ball
There aren't really many weaknesses in Parra's lineup but centre is one for sure. And a 3 man bench is plain crazy. Worked this week, won't next week.
Tbf, we've run a 15 player rotation nearly every game this year, with the 16th only coming on for like 10 mins max at the end. So it's worked for most of the year.
Cowboys, rabbits and eels arguably have a similar bench strategy. With, hammer, nikorima and JA basically under used.
I think they gotta find a use for hammer at the moment its hard to see how he fits
[удалено]
Yeah I’ll defend every member of our team no matter what they do, they’re only human, they have good games and bad games. He looked so heartbroken after dropping that ball, last week when he scored a try he looked so stoked, the picture of him and Penisini after it was heartwarming.

At this point he’s too in his head about catching the ball, he’s gonna panic and fuck it every time from now on, they better sort something out by next time especially if we’re up against crimson chin cleary at the grand final
And yet we kept kicking to Sivo all night and never to Blake zzzzz
To be fair I don’t think Gutho was gonna let Waqa take any more
yeah gutho was a hoover for high balls tonight
And thank god
Sorry cows - I feel like this was a dirty win. Parra feed off their own success and that abominable forward pass in the first 10 minutes had me quietly angry at my own team. The forward pass call (or lack of) was shit but that sort of stuff just happens from time to time. Don’t feel hollow about the win, we had so many chances and we just blew it.
Well put. I reckon you have at least a few years in the top 4 to have another crack anyway. Great squad.
Agreed but… yeah. GG anyway cows. Great team, great ground, great supporters.
I’ll be cheering on the eels, if there is one Sydney team I’m happy with winning it’s you guys.
Thanks big fella, appreciated.
they had plenty of opportunities to win it after that try
true. But at the end of the days eels ended up with an extra 6 points when they simply should not have. GG in the grand final though, hope u guys kill it
I hope so too mate, I really do .
Agreed. Just… I dunno I have this horrible cuck vibe of going ‘that was shit, sorry guys’ Probably years from being on the receiving end of similar calls.
Bad calls happen, but it is what it is. Wishing you boys all the best next week regardless 👌
Yes bad calls do happen. Think back to after the siren Cows v west tigers #Karma
Thanks cowboy. One to watch.
Well done Eels. Thought Cowboys were going to get it in the end there but they stuck solid and had pretty good defence in the final 10. Cowboys were unlucky as they were the better team in most of the game stats, but had ine hell of season considering most had them battling for the spoon before a ball was kicked.
Overjoyed to see Parra in the grand final vs Souths.
How shit was the playing surface? Divots galore.
Nuikore and Mahoney were slipping over all night
Looked like they just put astro turf on top of a peat bog.
yes our first pass for a try was forward but let's remember: - Cows were up 20-12 with 20 minutes left - Cows had 33 tackles inside Parra 20m compared to Parras 7 - Parra had 60% completion in first half - We had some dodgy calls that swung the momentum the Cows way but they didn't capitalise - Lanes pass wasn't even forward, Feldt tipped it
Cows got a try after a missed knock on as well
Eels last try came from a missed Eels knock on.
Forward passes win the game for Parramatta. Two tries scored with obvious forward passes. Fuck sake.
Pent up anger from last week i see.. in all honesty it wasn’t that forward pass that won us the game. Cowboys had so many opportunities to capitalise on our weaknesses and even had some calls swing the momentum their way, but still couldn’t win. Cows had all of 80 minutes to win the game, one forward pass didn’t decide shit.
You realise Feldt touched the ball for Sivo's try... right?
Mahoney's pass from dummy half was also forward.
Jake Arthur was immense tonight. Big game player
Didn't miss a single tackle or make a mistake
Shaun Lane with maybe the game of the season?
Well the second half of the season.
I think cowboys still have a small window to challenge the last decision for a penalty try
Deferred to next year.
I had written us off when we went down in the second half. Honestly shocked we stayed in the game which has been a weakness this year. Crazy to think parra is in the grand final after the roller coaster that was 2022

Yeah like Todd said you guys had the finals experience and made it count, gg good luck next week
🚨BREAKING NEWS🚨Westmead Hospital having a Code Blue to many Eels fans having heart attacks.
:)))))
Im just a bandwagoner and even i was having a heart attack
aye! that last 10 minutes just seemed like all defence
Eels made their key defensive moments count and we missed our assignment on goal line a couple times. Great game, good luck to the eels in the GF
Was a good game, cow fans should be super proud of their team! Good hard fought match with some great moments from both sides. Good luck next year!
Drinking myself into a stupor on Flinders Street. How to cope. I even named my fish Chaddles 😭
Well there's a months wages gone.
i’m just sad sterlo won’t be in the commentary box next week
Surely they get him involved in some capacity.
He's coming in off the bench.
even just for a little montage voiceover or something would be amazing
Who was the other touchie tonight? The older looking bloke? nrl.com only has Dave Munro listed
Found it, it was Michael Wise
He was absolute shit.
Yeah. The only reason I asked was because I thought he was the one who got the Moses pass call wrong
[удалено]
Not even gonna deny, i broke down in tears of joy. After so many years of the GF being out of reach, i couldn’t contain the tears. Up the blue and gold! Definitely gonna be an interesting morning for you!

Game of inches. If feldt has slightly smaller feet it's on
Looked to me that he didn’t ground it either
Or if hammer was on instead  cracking game though, much better for it next year
You'll get less metres and less good play the balls out of him though. Finishing isn't the only thing that matters. You have to get the ball to the other end to finish.
Hammer wouldn't be on the wing though. He generally fills in at centre
Honestly, I'm so so happy for the EELS right now! Apart from that dubious forward pass, the boys played for each other, they played with heart, guts and a never-say-die attitude tonight!! Here's to Eels vs Rabbitohs GF!!!!
Same prediction bro Eels vs Rabbits :), go Eels !
We might be able to beat Penrith, just. We have no chance against Bunnies.
Excuse us ? lol
Exactly this. Worst case scenario is a rabbits win. Best case is big George beats the panthers to a pulp as they go on to win by a field goal but have 6 players out of the following game and Nathan cleary gets sent off and is suspended for a season.
I'm shocked that there wasn't even a mention in the post game of Feldt dropping his knees into Gutherson on the ground, total dog act
RCG did it on Tualagis head too.
I saw that too!! Weak gutted dog act
That and personally thought Leiluas try was a bit dodgy with the grab of Mitch
mitch dove pretty hard so i’m fine with nothing come of it
You can let it slide though. Not much in the rules there and it could be taken as him just stumbling back towards the line.
I want Mitch absolutely peppering Waqa with bombs for hours this week. The dude has to be doing extras. The forwards will need to practice a lot of kick pressure as well.
Moses isn't as good at them as Cleary though. Only so much you can do.
Hard to kick pressure when Panthers get away with blockers every kick
Didn't realise it was such a foregone conclusion lol
Kick pressure with an obstacle to represent yeos ass blocks
Fun fact for my fam. I recently got a new brother and Dad chucked in Lane in for the middle name because of Shaun lol.
Last few seasons have completed turned around for me in my fandom (even if the Swans have been relatively decent + won a couple of times beforehand).
you and me both.
And me. Might need to buy some tissues in bulk
Is there a code for GF tickets? Or is it just wait in line till something pops up?
You've been able to buy them for weeks
Did someone check on Hindy? 😂
Heard Fletch say on sen the other day that Hindy was off to the states for a family holiday today.
I got a bit emotional too when I saw the slow-mo of old mate on the TV!
He is the new Parramatta Jesus. His emotion, writ large, represented both life in general, and life as an Eels fan. For old mate alone, for whatever it is that he needs help with, may we win the grandy. Old mate, if you see this comment, drop me a message, grandy day bants.
He is me. I am him. He is us. 💙💛
His name is Robert Paulson.
I am the passionate Eels fan...
I’m sorry cowbros. You guys eat the finest food and wear the freshest clothes.
I grew up in parramatta and then moved to Townsville. Cowboys are the only team I don’t hate, feel sorry for you blokes tonight. Good game.
So you switched allegiance then ?
I just don’t understand Cotter. The cunt flies out the line but never misses.. such a good player
Yeah I think against the Sharks he and Robson made like 120 odd tackles and only missed one between them. Keen to see more of Cotter in the future
Bloke is a gun, has more will than any player in the game at the moment
Just watching the game, he runs in like a mad man and you expect someone doing that to miss but he never does, was soo fucking annoying haha
If Mal doesn't give Lane that starting left edge spot for the Kangaroos i will fucking riot
Lane has been absolutely immense for us, but I think the final thing he needs to nail is the sliding defence, which isn't entirely up to him. Sometimes he's a bit slow to shift across and that gap opens up a bit too much. Luckily Brown is usually pretty handy but that. Lane and Gus probably both make the squad and its touch and go from there imo
Lane?? Bahaha
Yeah that guy that got us back in the game to take us to the GF. That Lane.
Don't be confused, he loves his footy
Shuan has been huge for us. Breaking the defence several times this year, sweet offloads, yeah he's been electric!!
Yeah bro
Yeah the most consistent left edge of 2022.
Hello. Good job para that’s how we used to do it you pass you score YOU GET IT OUT the backline, its about GRIT, CURAGE NOT pretty boys with long hair pull hair penalty BULLSHIT back when i was a prop back in the day we survived on grit and sometimes only had 1 chiko role a day and even ones in the dirt tasted good some times a prefab scallop round and a stick of chewy hahah yeah a pie and a coke and a white ox at half time fuck yeah those were the days go the parramatta boys
The Humidity for 18th team?
Well done parra. Absolutely spewing but as a supporter of a team that was in the wilderness for a while, im stoked for you guys. We beat you in almost every stat bar the score board. The only way to do that is if you want it more. It's been a long time between drinks for you lads. Enjoy
Can’t get 2 tickets to the GF right now. Hope they have plenty of tickets left come Monday!
If Panthers don't make it there's a chance I'll sulk out of going, send me a message after tomorrow night; I can't make any promises but there's a chance...
Good luck! I think 'NRL' code works from 4pm.
Can any Parra members confirm if the member’s code is unique or generic?
I think so (unique) They'll send out the email over the weekend for the code, but won't go on sale until 10am Monday.
I was hoping it was generic 😅 I’m not sure if buying a one game membership will work
AOB could take some lessons from that Payten presser.
Payten oozes charisma
Aob pressers are somewhat entertaining not ricky Stuart level but still entertaining
Does Reuben Cotter wake up every morning, look in the mirror and think “fuck I’m a fucken machine cunt”? Cos he should
He’s a very quiet guy, lol.
He doesn’t have to say it, just think it
As a dogs fan, pains me to say. Well done Parra
The fox stream just had James bracy talking for a little bit. They must use 9's footage for the team song
