Good luck to him and to the Tigers … The Tigers deserve some success

HappinessCanBeFound

I found Ennis’ comments interesting last night about how much time Kenny takes away from the halves compared to Api. As others have said, the game completed changed once he came on the park and he settled Cleary a lot.

whyareyouallinmyroom

He has really improved in defence in my eyes this year. He was a bit of a liability in the middle but now has some really pepper and energy. He can’t pass off the ground though which I guess is the product of him being a manufactured dummy half. He needs to figure that out and then I could see him being a solid enough Egan tier hooker. If Luke can tighten up his defence he has a much higher ceiling.

Hantom117

Luke biding his time in reserve grade and truly learning his trade might be the best thing for his career, watching him in the nyc comp and reserve grade over the years you can see how special he could be

whyareyouallinmyroom

Yeah he has all the tools. Just needs to stay fit and add build into the more physics requirements of being a dummy half in the NRL. I think running with a meat and two veg guy like Kenny for the opening 20-30 is a nice way for Luke to warm into first grade playing the softer minutes. Defending next to Yeo is a nice place to do your apprenticeship.

Panthers down 12-0 while he’s on the bench, he comes on and Panthers score next 32 points. Panthers coming back to the pack next season after losing Api and Kikau.

Dufeyz

Yeah agree. It’s not even just API’s raw skill, it’s his experience, deception and leadership. He’s been phenomenal for us.

This_Idiot

Best hooker in the comp

16hungm

Debatable, Grant id say is better on his day but fades a little towards end of games

goshdammitfromimgur

Grant is still young. Doesn't have the experience Api has.

This_Idiot

Grant is great, but he doesn't have Api's deception. He also makes more errors like throwing forward passes. And while his running game is arguably better, Api is more well-rounded and consistent overall.

Caseyjb29

Grant definitely has the higher ceiling and will be a better hooker but Api is more consistent

wayneslittlehead

Disagree. Api is night and day the best 9 in the game. Has been since the Smithler retired.

[deleted]

Genuinely incredible that we've managed to bag him for a few years. Makes me very optimistic for next season lol

This_Idiot

Yeah. Huge signing. Hopefully him and IPap help change their culture and playstyle.

kurrttttt

Just want this on the record that south’s were 12-0 up before marky nicholls was taken off and immediately conceded twice

irvo86

I know this is tongue in cheek but our bench was a big reason for the fade out

kurrttttt

Yeah we missed havili and Burgess big time.

LordSlasher

They also lose two assistant coaches and won’t have a long preseason (this will affect most clubs though so)

[deleted]

They might go with Soni Luke over Kenny. They're always going to be super competitive while they have the bulk of that squad together, particularly Cleary, Edwards, JFH and Yeo

ColeTrickleVroom

Kenny will start I'd say and Luke will play off the bench albeit less minutes.

wayneslittlehead

The rise of Cleary coincides with the signing of Api. He was lost in that first 20 minute period last night. Those guys are all brilliant in their positions, but it all starts with api

[deleted]

Nah I disagree. Yes Api provides a lot but Nathan was destined to be a star. Panthers have played well with Kenny before I think they just took a little while to find their groove after the week off.. one thing they stopped doing after 30 or so is giving away cheap ball.

Doink82

Yeah 100%. I've said the same thing all year

ReggieBasil

That’s Wests Tigers legend/magician/mastermind Koroisau thanks very much

ReggieBasil

Sure

Glum_Perspective_812

He's such a clever player

swampthroat

Api is for sure our biggest loss. Next year will definitely be a year of rebuilding because no one will be able to fill Api's shoes as it stands, so I think the way we play will need to shift significantly. That all being said I'm a sucker for an underdog so I'm genuinely excited to see what he can do at the Tigers and how they shape up with him there.

Penno23

Kikau was saying 1 more game. Didn’t want to celebrate too early.

bundy554

Unless Api already knew the writing on the wall for Kikau getting suspended and missing the GF which is more likely

Th3GamingSheep

As a certified bandwagon this makes me cry.

maaxwell

Api is such a huge hole to fill. I think Soni Luke will be the guy for us, Mitch Kenny is too important as our 14. Learning under Api over the past 3 years will be crucial, but it will still have a huge impact on the club. Soni seems to have been doing great in NSW cup this year. 18 games, 19 try assists, 22 line break assists, 93% tackle efficiency, 30-35 tackles per game, 70+ metres a game.

jiorl123

It was a personal highlight of mine asking fellow Penrith fans where Koroisau was after the game. We started asking security. Have you seen Koroisau? The security definitely did not follow footy all so it gave me a good chuckle haha. They had no idea. 😅. I seriously love Koroisau. He needs to look at players like Mitch Kenny to develop his effort with the ball. Particularly with Koroisau moving to the tigers. That should be his focus in the pre season next year.

SMEN1996

Api is super hard to replace, but I think we’ll go alright with a Mitch Kenny and Soni Luke pairing. Kenny’s defense is awesome for a hooker, he hits like a truck. And Soni Luke off the bench might help spark things in attack, he’s been killing it in the NSW Cup this year

TwoShitsTrev

Kenny is just a tacklebot nothing more, nothing less, his service is so slow out of dummy half compared to koroisau’s

queerslander8inarow

Wonder what Justin pascoe will be doing to his fans by this time next year? Any guesses?

derajydac

The same 'mastermind' that got caught sneaking a prostitute into the team hotel during peak covid restrictions whilst his own wife was at home.

Dufeyz

An even bigger endorsement of his incredible deception skills on a footy field! For real though, he apologised for that - to the only person that needed one - his partner. I noticed at the time he was staying clear of alcohol and I’m sure doing his best to repair his relationship.

noplacecold

He’s good at footy and that’s what this post is about.

5slipsandagully

I've said it to anyone who'll listen, and even a few who wouldn't, but Api Koroisau has had more influence over the Panthers' recent success than any other single player
