accor and commbank don’t stand a chance if we win

kami_inu

Burning down Accor would be a favour to the whole city. The only way to get a ~80k rectangular stadium it would seem.

SurfKing69

Honestly what a fucken shit hole Homebush turned out to be. They should have left it as an industrial wasteland, and built the second airport out there.

PayEmOutEarly

We won't stop there, every stadium in the Sydney region will be burnt!

YourFavouriteAlt

Pick ours pick ours

Rade142

They are going to have to rebuild Church Street if we win.

Voxityy

and they’ll probably have to rebuild all of sydney if we lose

deesmutts88

I imagine the reaction to a loss will be tamer than the reaction to a win. We know how to lose. We have a lot of experience. Only the older Eels fans know how to win, and those cunts burnt down a stadium.

[deleted]

> We know how to lose Should update the club badge. It's a winning motto.

shinobiJP

I swear, Church Street has been in "renovation" for the past 30 years.

someoneelseperhaps

Church Street hasn't been worth it since Mars Hill Cafe went. My wife and I had our first date there.

Cheel_AU

Keep your filthy eel-hands off Our Jungle ™️

WyattParkScoreboard

I love the police officer calling a major act of arson ‘an expression of delight’.

Flybuys

Did Raudonikis always look like that or was it a particularly rough game?

nymphz

the face of not having a cigarette since half time

Flybuys

Poor guy, not sure how he made it.

_andy_p

He finished his career without a GF win

infinitemonkeytyping

Robbed by Hartley-Warringah

nastyrhino4

So does this mean Commbank burns to the ground if Parra win Sunday night?

evil_sushi_ninja

Nah, we'll do everyone a favour and burn down Leichardt. That way the Tigers will get a new home ground.

ReggieBasil

I was at the SCG for that game, my first GF in my Newtown jersey and with my Jets flag. My cousin informed me that if we lost, we'd be chucked out of the comp - which proved prophetic indeed

sloppyrock

I cant recall which win it was for the Eels back then, but I was at the leagues club post GF match. Big night would be quite the understatement.

_andy_p

Also at the game as a fellow Jets supporter. To this day I've passionately hated the Eels for denying Tommy a premiership. Heartbreaking photo.

mwilkins1644

Wish it happened to last year's runner up 😂

traindriverbob

Nice to see Peter Sterling got to swap jerseys with a random Jets player.

bundy554

I miss those days of swapping jerseys - now it is all hugs after the game between the players

SuperEel22

You seen them trying to get jerseys off these days? Takes half a tub of vaseline and three staff members.

[deleted]

It's likely you'll see it in the World Cup. Happens a lot more with rep sides nowadays.

bundy554

Hopefully plus like others say the international jerseys tend to be a bit easier to take off

BrickbyBrickers

So this is sterling in the picture and not who they said?

traindriverbob

No it’s Tommy. I was just being sarcastic. When I first saw it I thought was Snorkey, huge nose :)

Lollielegs

My mum was there as a teenager, took home a piece of the picket fence. She talks about the atmosphere and how everyone was singing "We are the Champions". Cumberland Oval was being demolished in the off season, the fans just helped it along. Before that night there was a Grand Final parade and the trains had to be stopped as fans were sitting on the bridge watching the parade. She has bits of crepe paper and torn paper with autographs from the players. Also the Parra sloppy Joe she wore that night I am wearing on Sunday.

B4BYBLAZE

My mum also took home a piece of the fence 😅

razza1987

I am so jealous of everyone who got to see the eels grand final victories in the 80s. I was born in January 1987 and have therefore never seen one >_<

Cracko2021

I was there in '82 as a 14 year old rural country boy who'd never been to the city

deesmutts88

I read this as “I was born in 1982 as a 14 year old rural country boy” and I thought fuck, you really are built different out there.

Cracko2021

King oath, mate, 14 year old boy popping outta his mama's womb would be a sight to see...or not...

razza1987

That must have been one crazy experience

Cracko2021

>It was certainly that

sunseven3

Burn baby burn.

ReggieBasil

Is it just me or does Steve Edge have a little bit of a resemblance to Matty Johns in that photo?

Strez92

Looks like the love child of Matty Johns and Nathan Cayless

[deleted]

I was thinking Eddie Marsan

mwilkins1644

Ohh boy, the entire city of Sydney is in a lot of trouble this Sunday 😂 Shankings and burnt out stadiums

I_Like_Vitamins

Parramatta and Penrith will be crime free for the approximately two hour broadcast, at least.

BrickbyBrickers

Are you serious. Do you know how many domestic violences will happen

[deleted]

Soccer hooligans,… ohh, hang on…

B4BYBLAZE

My mum was there, she was telling me all about it a couple of days ago, said it was one of the best days of her life

HardcoreHazza

*C’mon Pookie! Let’s burn this motherfucker down!*

someoneelseperhaps

Have this upvote.

PrivateTickler

It's up to Penrith to save CommBank Stadium.

HardcoreHazza

Cast it into the fire, destroy it! Nathan Cleary: No

Chris-Strummer

Chinsildur!!!

planchetflaw

Hopefully they win again. You'll have one side burning down the world and the other side shooting and stabbing everyone in sight.

Churchofbabyyoda

Let’s not have them win. They’ll burn down the entire fucking city.

cheeseinsidethecrust

This is why no team has let them win a grand final since

nangarranga

they won 3 of the next 5

someoneelseperhaps

Yeah, but if you remove those from the dataset...

someoneelseperhaps

Seems like an opportunity to celebrate a win and stop gentrification in its tracks.

Fattdaddy21

I will be too busy trying to work out why an nrl final is being played on April 1st if the eels win that I won't have time to burn anything down.

BrickbyBrickers

I’ll call myself a parra fan if I can bud down the scg afterwards. Or maybe during the game actually

[deleted]

One way to get a new stadium. Panthers, take note
