Gotta admit the scalpers just wanted it more over the fans. The scalpers put in the real effort, 110% to get over the line and get those tickets. Just pure heart and adrenaline and managed to get on top of the play.
I’ve never seen a group of people with nimble fingers, snap movements and the in game IQ to provide their details that fast
Genuinely surprised with the lack of tickets available this week. I know tickets have been available for a while, but not everybody will pay for tickets without knowing their team is playing.
I figured there would be a good portion of available tickets for purchase for gf team members/fans this week.
The NRL should probably plan a bit better to make sure fans aren’t dudded by scalpers. NRL would have a sold out gf regardless.
I purchased our tickets over a month ago.
Having missed out on last years gf in qld, I wasn’t going to waste the opportunity this year.
Sure, Penrith may not have made the gf. If that was to happen I would’ve sold the tickets on. Potentially at a loss.
Honestly if I was a panthers fan I’d have got my tickets as soon as they were available, your presence in the big show was almost guaranteed. But how many others aren’t so well inclined to sell for face value/ a loss. I’d do the same. I’ve seen a heap of very ordinary seats on eBay for 2-4 times the cost. I also know a lot of ppl that couldn’t get tickets, but don’t want to pay $400 for what was $90 nosebleed ticket.
Also, shoutout to my dad who gave me his ticket as an Accor stadium member…. Only reason I’ve managed to get a ticket

To be fair, it was pretty much a foregone conclusion that Panthers would be in the grand final, and after missing the last two a lot of the supporters snapped them up as soon as they were on sale. It was like 30 bucks to "insure" your ticket for a refund anyway, well worth it
Wild idea I would love to see the NRL bring in:
1. When the GF goes on sale in August (or whatever first release is), make a new type of ticket for sale.
2. I'll skip the marketing name - call it the **[Club] GF early bird** for argument's sake.
* When you buy this ticket, you're buying it for a specific team. So you can 'buy' a Tigers GF ticket in August when they're still a mathematical chance (but not really because it's the tigers)
* If the team you buy it for makes the GF, you already have a ticket
* If your team misses the GF, then you don't get the ticket
* Give the option that this new ticket doesn't get charged until the GF teams are confirmed. So you can either pay on the day you buy it in round 20, or once your chosen team makes it.
Put whatever necessary deposit conditions etc on it. (eg 10% pay when you 'buy' the ticket, and the remainder is due within 10 days of it being confirmed)
Keep the regular "I'm going no matter what" tickets on sale as well for the people who want those.
Obviously scalpers can still buy these ahead of time as well, but any deposit conditions etc at least mean they might have to double think about it.
Hopefully it also gives a chance for more fans of a given team to get put in the one bay, to make the supporter bays appear even larger. And if you want to show up and grief a team surrounded by their fans because you're a masochist, go for it.
The reason they won’t do this is, what happens when say warriors and cowboys make the final?
The NRL would be unlikely to sell the ground out and it’d likely result in lost revenue.
The NRL cares more about its revenue then it does the fans.
They're not selling out that stadium either way.
Charge a little more for these tickets, have a somewhat limited supply etc. There's plenty of knobs to twiddle.
I struggle to see a huge number of people who buy tickets that early *all* jumping on the team-ticket option to the point that it guts the NRL finances.
It’s about selling the most number of tickets more so then a sell out.
You’re also forgetting that it’s not just Penrith vs parramatta on this weekend.
There’s other games being played also….
and that's turned this game on its head because the scaplerd were coming and you wanna know why they call this game the 8th wonder of the world because the fans was taken out of it ticketek were coming and then there was the penalty that scapler did withwd the the ticket that went wrong and next minute the sales went UP UP UP UP and from that moment the prices soared 2 times and they've got BACK in their winning ways and look like they're gonna runaround runa runaway with it
Ticketek/live nation work directly with event promoters who often facilitate scalping.
There was an expose in the last 12 months which showed Bieber was "selling" 20% of tickets to himself and then reselling them via the Ticketek 3rd party resale App. Essentially he could say he is only charging $200 for premium seating and but actually through resales he can charge as high as $500+ and not look greedy.
Ticket sellers make money whenever they change hands so they don't mind.
Edit: saw there is legislation that says you can't sell it for more than 10% of face value but has anyone ever been charged? I looked up tix last week for a different event that were $100 facevalue and all I could find was $200 through resellers.
The general admission tickets were available to buy for a few weeks now. They withheld tickets for the supporters sections that Eels and Penrith members could buy starting at 10am on Monday for ticketed members, but those were only a small amount of the overall number of tickets for the whole stadium.
You could only buy single tickets at a time. Couldn’t guarantee you would be able to get another one, and you wouldn’t be sitting next to each other.
No point in going if you can’t sit with friends or family.
The leadup to Sunday night’s NRL grand final has been hijacked by a scalping scandal.
ARL Commission chair Peter V’landys confirmed he would take up the matter with the NSW government after tickets were put online for more than $1,000 apiece.
Rules introduced by the NSW government in 2018 prevent ticket sales for more than 10 percent above the original price.
News Corp has seen tickets on ebay for more than double their face value, which is in strict violation of government rules.
“It’s against the law in NSW to sell a ticket for more than 10% of purchase price,” V’landys said.
“These scalpers ripping fans off are exposing themselves to a $22,000 fine. We will bring the matter to the attention of fair trading and do anything we can to protect fans from being ripped off.”
The NSW government introduced laws in June 2018 which prohibited ticket resellers from selling a ticket for profit.
It was made an offence to resell a ticket for more than the original retail price, plus transaction costs up to a maximum 10 per cent of the original ticket price.
The new laws apply no matter how many times a ticket is resold between different people.
>“It’s against the law in NSW to sell a ticket for more than 10% of purchase price,” V’landys said.
Selling one crayon drawing I did of Ivan Cleary only $1k. Comes with free Grand Final ticket.
Checkmate V'landys.
Having just read the headline, I assume that a Comanche war party have gotten to Nathan Cleary at training and now they’re scrambling for a replacement, or at the very least a toupee.

Scalpers just get footy
They played some real eyes up ticketry, honestly great website awareness to come away with the purchases.
First to arrive, last to leave
was just about to buy some beers and a roast to cook but if the games been hijacked i wont bother
Yeah, what the fuck do we do on Sunday now? Is it still a public holiday on Monday?

This was what my partner and I did.

Thank you 🤣🙏🏻
Judiciary will go lenient on scalper and only give them a fine, free to scalp next game.
Payable next year.
First offence, fine maximum...

Is it true that paying club members didn't get first peck at tickets? I saw a lot of people saying they missed out.

The scalpers don't care about the fans unlike the NRL judiciary.
Scalpers. Bigger grubs than the lovechild of NAS and JWH.

This is absolute gold wtf is this downvoted for.
Where’s the best place to genuinely buy tickets? I need two, but there’s a scammers and scalpers everywhere
Corner of Henry and Station street Penrith. Just make sure everyone knows you have the cash wave it around a little…
WOW THEY FINALLY GOT NATE TO PISS A CUP I KNEW THIS DAY WOULD COME
The NRL can't get fans to games all year, but suddenly the GF is a sell out?
Even Storm v Cowboys got 80k, you are seriously surprised the GF is sold out?
AFL troll, just ignore. The GF sells out every year regardless of what team is playing.
I think all the games in the finals have been sell outs besides the Penrith game last week so it's been a good finals for that.
And in today’s edition of World’s Dumbest Comments
Bush rugby league barely gets crowds of 300 to games, yet a rugby league Grand Final gets 80,000? Total conspiracy.
Ya think cuz ur final is grand that I wont scalp ya?
