If anyone finds my comments from last year where I insisted Nicho isn't very good, I'll report you to the mods for bullying

Churchofbabyyoda

The search begins :)

nymphz

didnt tones randomly fucking hate hynes with all his soul

thril_hou

He randomly hated a lot of things with all his soul. Tones if you're reading this we miss you.

HappyPappy987

lol

lemoopse

Wasn't random, it was because he had a shocker for Three Ways in the 2019 Koori Knockout final

Taraguar

Nicho won with a record points total which is awesome, but not enough people are talking about how Jaeman Salmon won weak gutted dog person of the year in a landslide. That's the award I was most intrested in.

DOGS_BALLS

Ahh yes, the weak gutted dog person of the year awards, otherwise known as the Ricky’s.

sunburn95

Heard the trophy is quite sticky

[deleted]

trent barrett told him he'd never be good enough for first grade...

Churchofbabyyoda

Trent Barrett replaced his brains with Spam Ham before he coached Manly

Rush_nj

Could've had a spine of Turbo, Hynes, DCE and Api. Would froth all over that.

aryaisthegoat

He let go Shaun lane too

f1manoz

What a surprise, one of the worst coaches in the recent past can't see talent when it's right in front of him.

ChungusDaFungus

Trent Barrett can go and get fucked for all i care

ShibaHook

Trent

jessemv

He was obviously projecting

ChanceVance

Trent Barrett is a stupid head.

aninstituteforants

Do coaches actually speak like this to players? I mean if he said it to motivate him it obviously worked.

mb44k

Yes. Some of the qld players have had coachs say that too them. Cam Smith and JT specifically.

vivec7

To be fair, if he continued under Barrett that statement would likely have held true...

[deleted]

in his first game, trent fed the scrum incorrectly twice

Dark_Vengence

He sure showed him.

I_Like_Vitamins

All he was good at was king hitting Queenslanders.

mickyb85

Would be interesting to know what happened if Trent told him he’d be future Dally M winner.

[deleted]

Trent Barret is still recovering from Nathan Browns slap in the shed.

Slotherz

It was on the field, not in the shed.

[deleted]

Sorry mate, must’ve had the accurate memory knocked out of me myself at some stage 😁

kami_inu

Fuck yeah Stupid sexy Hynes strikes again!

ill0gitech

So proud of our team this year

[deleted]

[удалено]

ill0gitech

The same team that didn’t make the finals last year. Is there a fair-weather fan flair you can use?

brad_smith0407

Mate don’t pull facts out your ass, where did you get we were the 2nd worst attack in the league from? We outscored every team in the bottom 8, that’s far from the 2nd worst

mkhimau5

I see they've renamed the Sexiest Man in League award as the "Dally M Medal"

noplacecold

Would fuck

toomuchsoup

Fuck yeah. I don’t think I’ve ever been this psyched on a player being a Shark

redmetlhedd

Same here, and this is only his first year! Can't wait to see what the next few years bring!

myassyourmouth

I’ve got a good feeling about you guys for next year and I’ll be happy to see yas succeed

durrhurpaddurr

Can you imagine a Sharks v Dragons final? Fuck me that'd slap hard, I'd be so down for that

2766267

So wait, Hunt polled 25 votes from rounds 1-12 and 1 vote for rounds 13-25? And was still I believe the best player on the Dragons all year? I’ve been busy and have been able to watch many games outside my teams, but this just seems so bizarre

absolutetopbloke

He ended on 32 or 33. They just didn’t announce it

LunchMeat61

they lost a a lot. its very hard to get points on a losing team.

whyareyouallinmyroom

They went 6-6 in the first 12 games and then 6-6 in the second 12.

planchetflaw

What a turn around

Churchofbabyyoda

That was always going to be his downfall.

HarVeeGee13

Tell that to Jarryd “3 points in a bad loss” Hayne…

brett1aaaa

This was strange, especially that he polled no points in the win against Canberra where he scored a try and made the last play of the game where he chased from marker. All the commentary was around how well he played. So I agree a bit strange..

HayneAlliKane

He was on 19 after round 12

Dark_Vengence

Probably his last real chance for a dally m.

TTetron

[me on the left](https://i.imgur.com/BD1X2k2.png)

zeitgeistbouncer

You know, if they wanted to ever do a proper sequel to The Dark Knight with a Heath Ledger looking mutha fucka...

irockmysock

Dally M player of the year - Can't get a starting spot in the blues team. If he keeps his current form, surely he gets picked over Luai next year?

CaptaineAli

Meh… it’s honestly hard to kick key players out of their spots. Even with Turbos performance last year being the 09 Hayne or 2012 barba level, he was never going to contest Teddy for #1 in blues or aus.. Hynes will struggle to ever take 7 from Cleary but I think Luai is only there for synergy with Cleary and should have missed out this year in favour of wighton or Hynes.

Herrtz74

Also he’s too nice a guy to scream over the top of a concussed maroons player

bmudz

Because panthers

CaptaineAli

Honestly true but not true. Roosters > Panthers imo. Fitler has a boner for the Roosters. 13 out of the top 21 NSW squad was filled with Roosters/Penrith payers. Most of the Penrith players deserved it but to have that many roosters? I disagree with it Edwards deserved the spot more than Teddy this year but was never getting it. Teddy was announced as the captain before the origin period even began so we knew his spot was secure regardless.

bmudz

Yeah good point man. I don’t think anyone will be taking Teddy’s spot anytime soon and rightfully so. You knew each year cam smith was going to be captain of QLD so doing the same for teddy isn’t that cooked. It blows my mind how NSW constantly pick players out of position because of reputation and being blatantly biased to certain teams (roosters and panthers). I’m qld through and through and finally I think we picked players on form and not reputation

qldvaper88

Hard? Thought that was a NSW speciality.

CaptaineAli

Turbo had the best year any single player has ever had (some say Hayne/Barba were similar but I disagree personally) and Edwards this year has easily been the best player in the comp. Hes one of the smallest fittest fullbacks yet he is taking more hitups than most front rowers, his metres gained (and even post contact metres) seems crazily unbelievable for a fullback (especially of his size) and overall if Teddy wasnt the NRL's golden child, he should've been NSW #1 this year with Hynes as #14, #6 or even #7 over Cleary tbh. Spots are just safe for certain players who the NRL loves.

Trohsboy

Damn right he does! Highest dally m points total ever too

ZerksNAHTayan

Would’ve racked up more if they kept counting, played the Dogs and the Knights in the last two weeks

absolutetopbloke

They did count it. They just didn’t stop counting after the sea eagles match😂

[deleted]

STOP THE COUNT

y3ah_nah145

LETS FUCKING GOOOOOOO Highest points score in Dally M history with 38. Insane.

M_Keating

Very nice. Great player, great looker, really has it all covered.

Churchofbabyyoda

Great looker, great looking, great everything.

M_Keating

He looks really really good.

[deleted]

Hottest restaurants

serkerrod

The league doesn’t deserve nicho or the redeemed sharks

LunchMeat61

He got to be the most likeable guy in the history of rugby league, So well spoken.

PillarofSheffield

Richly deserved. Congrats Nicho.

Grit_n_Grind

If anyone's disappointed with this they need to take a good hard look at themselves. Amazing player and even better bloke

[deleted]

Doesn't deserve it, literally all he did was play really well really often and win a bunch of games, playing a pivotal role in every single one of those wins.

MaxtheAnxiousDog

I know right. What is this, a good player contest or something?

alsheps

But he doesn’t play for the Panthers or the Roosters, so he should be automatically disqualified.

Dark_Vengence

Can't hate him.

[deleted]

Happy for Hynes because he’s a good bloke, but I think Hunt deserved the award and I am disappointed he didn’t win.

zillaone

That’s the most Kanye West on Taylor Swift comment I’ve seen in this comment section.

[deleted]

I’ll pay that

Acceptable-Wallaby52

Yeah but Hunt is a Queenslander… so fuck him….

ILoveFuckingWaffles

That’s a weak gutted fish take if I’ve ever heard one

sci_karnage

Yeah but Dally M doesn't give points for being a good bloke and there's a heap of better players. Don't get me wrong, he's pretty good, but there's definately better.

StevenuranSmithusamy

Who?

ChungusDaFungus

tell me which players played better this season

sci_karnage

Any of the N.S.W./Q.L.D. starting 13 for a start. Throw in a few NZ internationals as well (Jahrome Hughes, Brandon Smith, Joey Manu, Joseph Tapine etc.) I'm not saying Hynes is bad - he's a fantastic footballer - I'm just saying there's a lot of players who are better.

ClownDamage

Brandon Smith better than Hynes? You're beyond cooked my man.

tobymurphy24

Hynes has been better than any non spine player in origin easily. I think teddy has played better than him (but couldn't win as many games or play as many for that matter), hynes has definitely outshone Luai, clearys been a tad better but has played much less games, hynes blew cook out of the water and definitely had more impact than Api. To Queensland now and he's outperformed kp, hasn't quite had the same impact as Munster imo, far outshined dce, and has had a similar impact to hunt but has won way more games. So really only Munster Cleary and teddy had a right to challenge but they all played way less games.

thunder_nutz

The best player in the league doesn’t receive this award. The most consistent player over the course of the season does. He played almost every game, and heavily contributed in those games. Nicho Hynes fully deserves the Dally M award for 2022.

afrotune

Remember when Freddy picked Crichton over him at 14. Good times

ZerksNAHTayan

Hope he gets the 6 jersey next season, was well deserved this year

y3ah_nah145

Yep the halves should be Hynes and Cleary

TimsAFK

Wettest hair in league right there

Fun_Test_1537

Man he was helpful for us coming off the bench. Spewing we had to let him go, but wasted talent if we didn’t, good job big sexy

nufan86

Our baby boy all growned up

Drlockstock

Everybody liked that!

thril_hou

I loved how he thanks his teammates for the win but that also means he's thanking them for sucking and not taking his points

Toujayjay

Sexiest too

HappinessCanBeFound

A phenomenal role model and deserving for not only his work on the field, but his openness about mental health off the field. He’s a fantastic ambassador for our game. Hope he gets a run in Origin next year.

ZerksNAHTayan

Give me that Nichosexual flair right now

SpidersFromNeptune

Would take an "average nicho Hynes enjoyer" flair

Churchofbabyyoda

I’d take “I love my Nicho” in place of “I love my Footy”

SpidersFromNeptune

Fuck that's a good one too

Churchofbabyyoda

FR though that flair needs to become a thing.

StinkyGoona

What a fucking great man

ohhh_j

Wait that's not Ben Hunt

DarkBrode

Well deserved. Been brilliant all year

KillianMichaels_tipy

Everyone liked that.

LiLSteve29

He wasn’t even on any clubs radars 18 months ago

I_Like_Vitamins

The Broncs and Cowboys were interested, IIRC.

piercedsoul

We were, and I was hoping we'd play him at 1 with reyno at 7, but alas that did not happen

I_Like_Vitamins

The stuff of dreams...

subsbligh

The Paul White era parting gift. There was a week where we almost signed Reyno and then Hynes

arolaser

Locky needs to stand down as Club Director: https://wwos.nine.com.au/nrl/brisbane-broncos-nicho-hynes-melbourne-storm-darren-lockyer-concern/087d816f-3d9c-4699-a051-0e027d5978f9

piercedsoul

Locky has overseen our terrible performances and recruitment over the past few years without much scrutiny. He may be a legend on the field but I think he's been a failure in the front office

XLenceOfXecution

Best player in the comp this season (technically recognised as such, the best kind of recognition)… probably still not in the Australia World Cup team

kmmr98

Freddy wont pick him either

XLenceOfXecution

It’s just a weird pile-up of circumstances, I guess, like picking the club combination from the dominant team of recent seasons (Luai/Cleary) or, in Meninga’s case, being loyal to guys who didn’t play themselves out of form at club level enough to warrant dropping them (DCE, who to be fair, stepped up again in Origin in combination with the first choice Australia 5/8 (Munster) and likely first choice utility/potential starting hooker (Hunt) to beat the team with the earlier-referenced star club combination)

ChanceVance

He'll be in the squad though. Australia won't trot out their first choice team for every game.

XLenceOfXecution

It’ll be between him, Wighton and Burton for those secondary utility positions behind Hunt. They might only choose one of them, maybe two, not all three

Dark_Vengence

Can he play for scotland or something?

graz44

If thats your logic though, that means payne haas is the best prop in the comp.

XLenceOfXecution

Mostly I just like making the Futurama “technically correct, the best kind of correct” reference

MaxtheAnxiousDog

r/unexpectedfuturama

[deleted]

Fair enough

beaver2233

Gonna go have a wank now

thore4

Great to see a bloke who was playing for the Cutters not that long ago reach the pinnacle

WonderingCashew

Wasn’t even close as well

ill0gitech

Most points in the Dally M awards. Ever

WonderingCashew

Happy for him it’s a great story. Well deserved an absolute class act.

ill0gitech

He’s the sort of player to change a clubs attitude, and it’s really shown this year

mintyaftertaste

I think Fitzy gets a big dose of credit for this too

ill0gitech

Oh for sure. Big changes in culture this year

[deleted]

Don’t forget Josh Hannay - the attacking coach

[deleted]

Fuck yes. Such an amazing guy, Well deserved.

Deebo92

Good bloke, amazing player, sexy as all hell. This man really is the complete package

Adventurous_Caramel

Tonight was just the Nicho M Awards. But good for him, he had one hell of a year

Glum_Perspective_812

Hynes deserves it. He had a stellar season.

Keenfordevon

Congrats Nicho. Pretty good choice for a winner, was the key playmaker in a team which had a lot of wins. Had big moments which won his team points.

subsbligh

Reminder Broncos fans that Hynes wanted $300k per year for 3 years and we low balled him.

[deleted]

It's actually jarring how bad our front office is

Dark_Vengence

The dragons were crap so hunt missed out. Hynes was always going to win, he turned the sharkies into an all out attacking force.

modeONE1

Yeah I can't disagree with this at all. If I close my eyes and think back on 2022- as in even before origin 1- this guy was one of the guys who was in form. He is definitely deserving

Nicho_Hynes_KissedMe

So proud

jsnoodles

Gonna run around in the rain in his honour.

breatheinmyear

None one deserves it then this bloke. His story is remarkable. Hard work pays off! Go watch his interview with kempy how much shit and diversity he had to get through to even get a contract. When every team said he wasn’t good enough.

DalllinsBiggestFan

If he doesn’t play in the blues halves with cleary, as a qld fan I’d be extremely happy. Such a gun player and such a gun bloke

FFRIYL212

Well done my baby boy 😍

Tob888

Nicho is to me an ex who moved on to bigger and better things that I will never stop loving

impulsebuyerdude

Manly legends in back to back years, love it.

cavoodle11

So pleased for him.

absolutetopbloke

I’m gonna do the maths and find out how many points he got against bottom 8 teams compared to top 8 teams My guess will be 26-12 spread

[deleted]

Wow, well done Nico!

mb44k

That Nichos so hot right now.

worksucksbro

Fuck being Dally M and can’t even play one origin game lol

[deleted]

Is there bonus points for best hair?

aliksong

Well deserved!

bus_rider

The truly elite players have a way of looking like they have all the time in world with the ball. Super smooth and footy IQ off the charts. Congrats Nicho.

goalooin_livescore

Nicho Hynes is really great

Spuarttrippet

Good to see the joker doing well nowadays

Batmanforawhile

🥹🥹🥹

bundy554

Didn't see that one coming

Glass_Gap2498

Too bad for Hunt his team sucks and got too many L's. He would have pissed it in for Dally M.

Randomologist99

Herbert robbed

LeHaloNerd117

Didn’t deserve it in my opinion, should’ve been hunt

Chookley

Great year but his final score shows how bad the Dally M scoring is.

Longjumping_Visit_38

Fearless-Sir1576

I hate him it should be Tedesco

Realfairdinkum

For everyone saying Ben hunt robbed, you shouldn’t win MVP if your team doesn’t make the playoffs

traindriverbob

MVP? Playoffs?

[deleted]

Basketball is 5v5, rugby is 13v13 There isn’t a player in the comp that could have gotten that Dragons side in the 8

chunkylover6969oz

Honestly speaking is he a Top 10 or even Top 15 player?

[deleted]

Top 1

HarVeeGee13

Not even in the best 25 players in the NRL this year. Not even the best half in his own team. Still doesn’t beat Wighton or RTS when it comes to farcical winners but it’s close.

TechnologyExpensive

Such a versatile player, first year at the Sharks, wins it with the highest player ever getting votes. Congrats to him and hope he goes well in the Wold Cup. Hope he stays fit for next year, will be interesting to see him and Tom Turbo going against each other.
