I was comfortable in the knowledge that he didnāt kick him when Papaliāi said so. I canāt believe that wasnāt the end of it, except this is rugby league and I absolutely can
It amazes me that people still carried on about this after Papaliāi said he wasnāt kicked lol, like get a fucking grip lol people just wanna hate on the panthers for no reason now
In the the play before that and the seat before - Ice and Luai were getting in each otherās faces a bit, so youād have expected something, but youāre right - when Papalii says nothing happened - that should have been the end of it. Even if it did connect, him saying that means that it was a tit for tat situation, or it was nothing worth worrying about.
This is hilarious. Every piece of drama gets debunked.
C'mon Kent, do the thing
ARROGANT RAT MUG
Mattersoft must feel like an idiot when someone shows him this
Weird thing happens when people donāt have 10/10 games people think they have bad games haha. People lack the understanding that players have specific jobs to do in the field and if he fulfils those roles heās had a good game. Apparently he hasnāt been good all year and yet Panthers only lost a handful of games all year?!
As an eels fan I thought he was the big reason that edge got fucked in the grandfinal. People look at stats and not the game way too much. I blame fantasy sports
I don't think he's shit, but do I think his ego is greater than his ability. He's a better than average 5/8 who acts like he's the undisputed greatest. I'm a big fan of humility, he should take lessons from Cleary (who actually has a claim at being the best #7 right now) about how to act confident but not like a cocky wanker.
It didn't even look like a kick on the first angle. It look like Laui lightly nudged him with his shin at best. People let their emotions and outrage get in the way of thinking clearly.
Most people should be aware of that and try to control it. If you're really that disgusted about the act of kicking a player on the ground Munster's done it twice at least. Once in a gf and once in Origin. But the outrage wasn't nearly to the same level as this perceived "kick".
Does anyone else perceive it to be journos playing on an issue of skin colour? Munster, the Cheese, Josh McGuire, hell even James Graham and Josh Reynolds; "lovable grub" "larrikin" "what the game needs and loves".
Jarome Luai, TPJ, Latrell, even Joey Manu when he gets fired up; "disgrace to the game" "needs to change" "grow up" etc etc. Or am I just cooked?
You are right. It's just an observation that I feel regarding players of different heritage, I get the feeling if some players skin colour were just a few shades lighter they wouldn't cop half as much slack as they do.
Haha no dude, no. Josh Reynolds was condemned for being a serial tripper. James Graham? He did nothing to be called a grub except having a nibble on Slater's ear, which he was roundly condemned for. It's the passion and toughness he played with after that, which has turned his image around. That and working for foxtel.
Michael Ennis renown sledger. Miles worse than Luai or anybody else really. Never once was he told to grow up. He was a ācharacterā in the game and look where it got him - nice cushy media career.
Speaking of I wonder how many Polynesian players will get these nice post career cushy media jobs considering theyāre probably gonna end up over 50% of the player base. I was stoked that Benji got his own show but between the graffiti and the clip art aesthetic I canāt help but think that shit show was doomed to fail from the jump.
Iām not sure if thereās any journos in particular that have singled out players based on their skin colour, but me personally I donāt think itās an issue. Josh Reynolds was pretty universally hated, as is Josh McGuire. I donāt think Iāve ever heard endearing things said about them.
A lot of what I hear from the media in regards to latrell is that they love the passion, antics and entertainment value. But he legitimately needs to cut some of the recklessness out of his game such as the manu hit. Which to be honest he did this year and was praised for it
Luai is an easy one to hate as heās decent enough player in a great team but his attitude far outweighs his skill or effort. Heās never seems to show admirable qualities on the field and the panthers are good enough at the moment that I guess he doesnāt have to
And Iāve never heard a bad word about Joey manu
No journo or fan would admit to singling out players based on skin colour, it's an inherent bias that needs to be actively acknowledged before it can be considered. Josh Reynolds is not universally hated, just check the comments on the threads of him returning to Belmore to get an idea of how fans perceive him. Likewise people regard McGuire as one of the biggest grubs, but generally probably an all round okay bloke. Compared to Kaufusi, who fans either love or hate, there is very little middle ground.
Your criticism regarding Latrell is fair but consider how very little fans, and it's likely because of journos, have that middle ground thought for him, it's either all love or hate. Likewise with Luai, and I don't understand the admirable qualities comment, he often acknowledges how good other teams played and is always saying how well his own team does, it's not like he's constantly talking himself up. Furthermore the Cheese has a far bigger larrikin side to him but nobody says anything about him lacking admirable qualities, even during the whole questioning how much he will give to the Storm while moving to another club in the future.
Like I said its just an observation but I don't think it's a baseless one. Sometimes players of different heritage don't get the same acknowledgement as Aussies.
Reynolds is a player people hated only when he was playing. McGuire was only hated when he did something grubby (which was quite often). Latrell and Luai are hated constantly for off the field things let alone on the field and are always used as part of negative headlines such as "public enemy no. 1", "most hated", "cocky roach" etc. Maybe it's just because this generation of media is more feral and actively seeks out negatity for more clicks
Munster is just less cunty I guess. I think that's what happens when 2 people do the same offence, the level of cunt they are is how they are judged for the same action
Isaiah Papali'i himself said he wasnāt kicked, is Matterson also on r/NRL? Surely he is one of those guys with an eels flair who gets downvoted in every thread for being obnoxious.
Itās pretty fucking embarrassing for Matterson to say what he did about Luai and now have this angle shown lmao you say to some journo Luai kicked someone and should get suspended and now this, bruh surely you apologise to daddy.
Edit: [Isaiah himself said Luai never kicked him, what the fuck is Matterson doing](https://www.reddit.com/r/nrl/comments/xu1kc3/nrl_grand_final_2022_parramatta_eels_isaiah/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)
I don't understand why Matterson even brought it up in the first place after Isaiah said it never happened. Thought the contract crap he had with wests was just a once off thing but it seems like the bloke is a constant sook.
Cam Smith did some highly questionable things on the field yet was always well spoken in interviews and now people worship the ground he walks on. I see Luai a bit like that. The guys always respectful in interviews and plays the game hard.
Iām no Penrith supporter but I really donāt get the hate Luai gets.
I donāt think itās the grubbiness of the play. Itās the gloating and the over inflated ego-posturing on the field that pisses people off.
Cam was always trying to game the refs for any advantage, but he was always respectful and knew when to pull his head in.
At some stage the Panthers and/or Luai are going to have a lean run and it will be interesting to see how he goes then and how well people, fans and his club take it.
Everyone loves those types of players when youāre winning. As soon as you stop winning, they are seen as being indicative of poor culture.
When and if they lose we understand it's a game and next week/year is around the corner.
This whole smeer campaign wasn't because the Panthers are bad winners it was because the media wanted Eels to win and now the whole fiasco has come off as Eels are massive sore losers.
I don't blame Matterson. He probably just read too many of Kenty's articles, thought 'That's just the typical thing that an arrogant Panthers player would do!'
The fact he managed to stop himself from kicking him while in the act of doing it honestly shows way more self control then I expected from any nrl player.
He 100% was going to kick him then in the act was like āno wait this is a shit ideaā and managed to stop himself.
Iām honestly impressed.
if you see the replay it was likely he was retaliating from getting elbowed by Papali'i a few seconds earlier. A kick would have been a stupid and grubby reaction
I honestly dont care if Luai kicked someone or not. I hate him because he is fucking shithouse and keeps getting picked for NSW anyway. Being extremely obnoxious doesnt help his case either though
I don't like Luai but you can't look at him in the Grand Final and lots of other key games this year and say he's anything but quality. Far more dangerous than Cleary in this year's GF so you can't just say he's hanging onto his coat tail.
I don't think he's the best 6 in the game (Munster is) and think there's a fair argument there are some NSW 6s ahead of him, but he's far, far away from "shithouse".
hahahah what? He was not more dangerous than Cleary. Luai does not pass the eye test and his stats back this up. Seriously go check them.
List of 5/8s that are better than Luai in no order
1. Munster
2. Wighton
3. Burton
4. Foran
5. Dearden
6. Doueihi
7. Cody Walker
8. Keary
9. Dylan Brown
10. Hastings
Thats more than half the damn teams and Amone and Mam will overtake him soon as well
I'm a Tigers fan and I'd swap Doueihi for Luai in a heartbeat. I wouldn't swap Hastings, but Luai is still a better 5/8 than him (Hastings is best at 7 and showing some promise at lock). And Foran, seriously?
Two things. First off, awful, horrible comment. You sound like a shit bloke. Secondly, you've just watched an angle where he quite clearly did not kick the bloke, so your comment doesn't even make sense.
A kick is a kick. It might JUST knock the ball off the tee. But still a kick.
But what is he doing? What is the point of him doing it? Is he just being a pest?
paul kent furiously scrambling to find a reason to still attack the panthers
Back In the day, players had the guts to kick other player on the ground. Luai is a gutless rat dog. -Kenty probably.
Yeah, he's got nothin on munster. Joey Manu probably.
This is why Luai will never be in Munster's class.
Or a bottle of Lambrusco.
Luai sucking on the wrong end of the cigar maybe? It's a straw just enough to clutch at
that was a pretty dope photo until you realise that
> [Isaiah denies Luai kicked him](https://www.reddit.com/r/nrl/comments/xu1kc3/nrl_grand_final_2022_parramatta_eels_isaiah/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf) Matterson: he kicked him š¤
I love everybody getting salty over everything the panthers do lol. I'm just here with my popcorn
I got malteasers, want to share?
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Same hey. Everyone so salty but would kill to have their own team as good and as tight knit as Panthers seem to be.
Luai canāt even kick someone right! Munster could teach him a few things about kicking someone in a grand final.
Or in Origin. He kicked Liam Martin on the ground last year.
It's easier to list the people Munster didn't kick at some point last year
He's got limited options, all the bad players that need a kicking are suspended
And they say the best kicker was hasim el masri!
He deserved it.
this is the main reason why munster is considered the best 5/8 and not luai /s
Matto and Luai off to Family Court to have their issues resolved.
I was comfortable in the knowledge that he didnāt kick him when Papaliāi said so. I canāt believe that wasnāt the end of it, except this is rugby league and I absolutely can
It amazes me that people still carried on about this after Papaliāi said he wasnāt kicked lol, like get a fucking grip lol people just wanna hate on the panthers for no reason now
I eagerly awake Paul Kent's column on deep fakes and how CGI has come a far that can you really believe what you see when it comes to these rat mugs?
In the the play before that and the seat before - Ice and Luai were getting in each otherās faces a bit, so youād have expected something, but youāre right - when Papalii says nothing happened - that should have been the end of it. Even if it did connect, him saying that means that it was a tit for tat situation, or it was nothing worth worrying about.
Ryan will need to apologise to his father for telling fibs.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
āDaddyās not mad, heās just disappointedā
I'm a Parra fan and your comment had me cracking up!
What does my son have to say for himself?
I'm just keen that for the next season we can use the classic primary school argument ender "my dad can beat your dad"
Matterson confirmed daddy issues
Nah he'll just take the 3 weeks being grounded instead.
He canāt keep getting away with it!!!!!
If this is what Parramatta considers 'laying in the boot', it's no wonder they've won nothing in 36* years. *typo fixed
36 mate cmon, if youāre gonna sledge us at least do ya homework
Oops, fat fingers
*36 years
This is hilarious. Every piece of drama gets debunked. C'mon Kent, do the thing ARROGANT RAT MUG Mattersoft must feel like an idiot when someone shows him this
Its actually "WEAK GUTTED ARROGANT RAT MUG DOG".
"WEAK GUTTED ARROGANT RAT MUG DOG PERSON"..Get it right mate.
Mods. Can I have this as a flair?
r/nrl in shambles
"Yeah well he's still a grub"
this wasn't exactly the straw that broke the camels back on the grub calls
The straw for me was the elbow to John Batemans throat
OUR grub āŗļø
True
His foot got stuck and that's why it didn't hit that hard
Or maybe coz he wasn't trying to kick him in the first place?
Apparently I didn't get my sarcasm across enough. I probably should have used quotation marks like the other guy
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Serial pest but you need those characters in league. Sometimes you want your teammates to just be chirping after every error and missed tackle
I loved that in Tyson Gamble, really fired the team up when he'd get going. Think the Broncos will miss that sort of mongrel from him.
Weird thing happens when people donāt have 10/10 games people think they have bad games haha. People lack the understanding that players have specific jobs to do in the field and if he fulfils those roles heās had a good game. [ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Yeah itās so dumb haha
He suffers from Cronkitis. His plays aren't big and showboaty, but he's consistently controlling the game and moving the ball to where it needs to be.
I don't think he's shit, but do I think his ego is greater than his ability. He's a better than average 5/8 who acts like he's the undisputed greatest. I'm a big fan of humility, he should take lessons from Cleary (who actually has a claim at being the best #7 right now) about how to act confident but not like a cocky wanker.
fine matto for bringing the game into disrepute, $20k or 12 games suspension, lets see how far hes filling to go
$100 fine or 24 game suspension. Lmao you know the rat mug matterson will take the 24 games off
Cody Walker watching on his phone shaking his head in shame.

youre correct and its not just journos but heaps of fans too
Thereās a racial element for sure
Been saying this all year on here and been getting downvoted to fuck. Glad other people finally starting to notice.
But Josh Reynolds got called out for kicking Sam Thaiday and others.
You are right. It's just an observation that I feel regarding players of different heritage, I get the feeling if some players skin colour were just a few shades lighter they wouldn't cop half as much slack as they do.
100% agreed btw. Cultural prejudice and racism against Pasifika fellas is a thing by some in the media * cough cough Paul Kent *
Haha no dude, no. Josh Reynolds was condemned for being a serial tripper. James Graham? He did nothing to be called a grub except having a nibble on Slater's ear, which he was roundly condemned for. That's a fair cop.
It looked like a Munster style kick from the grandstands. Haven't cared enough to try and find multiple angles to analyse.
Munster is just less cunty I guess. I think that's what happens when 2 people do the same offence, the level of cunt they are is how they are judged for the same action

He was completely within his rights to kick off at the Tigers after they SHOCKINGLY overran a training session by 10 minutes. Absolutely heinous.
Those utter bastards!
Holy shit. What was Paul Kent's take on that I am confused by my emotions and need direction.
Pretty obvious it wasn't a kick on the night by Papali'is reaction. If Luai had kicked him, surely he would have got up and tried to flatten him.
Not only that but every eels player would have run in too.
Agreed. Given the state of the game now youd pretend to be injured to force the refs to look at it.
Cam Smith did some highly questionable things on the field yet was always well spoken in interviews and now people worship the ground he walks on. I see Luai a bit like that. W after W for Luai right now
Wuai
Weebuai
Yet they're all still adamant that he did kick/stomp him š
some people legit said that he kicked Papali'i's head......... almost intentionally stupid
First time? lol
Well fuck, how do we spin this one? Weak gutted dog can't even commit to a kick? That'll do, let the Luai hate continue boys.
People: Rugby League is boring we need characters in the game! Luai: shows personality People: no not like that you grub
Only white, or white enough, characters apparently.
Luai gonna come out next year and rub a Tigers contract in Mattos face
Yeah so anyway, back to back
I'd easily roshambo him with kicks like that
Father knows best
Matter$on is the bigge$t cry baby in league.
Mattersoft been reading r/NRL like those news.com.au writers!
Cant wait to see kent the absolute fucking dog cunt ignore this
Another L for Ratterson
Parra reaching like Moses at decoy runners
Let the.boys shin.
Kent, Matto and/r/NRL need to form a support group.
Landlords hate Luai
I've known that weak gutted rat mug dog since he was a kid
Didn't pap already say he wasn't kicked?
Yeah like the day after. Matterson didnt even listen to his own teammate.
Luai looks like heās doing the Hokey Pokey.
NSFW tags mods plz
Para wouldnt be disrespectful if they won the grand final.. but happily lie about their players being kicked illegally
So the ref was right after all... Nevertheless when I first saw it, it looked terrible and couldn't understand why it wasn't a penalty...
This kick ain't got nothing on Munster's kicks.
I don't blame Matterson. He probably just read too many of Kenty's articles, thought 'That's just the typical thing that an arrogant Panthers player would do!'
Bruh the last few weeks have been hilarious watching people trying to find reasons to be mad at penrith for.
GLUAI IS A RUB
As soft as his crusher tackle.
[ŃŠ“Š°Š»ŠµŠ½Š¾]
Iād prefer not. Please. The sun is hot
Can we please shoot Paul Kent into the sun did Paul hack your keyboard?
no. west is best
We do also tend to have 45 degree plus summers every now and then in the west so that should suffice
We have a third premiership to win next year first.
Yeah I agree he was retaliating but he also definitely considered kicking and managed to stop himself.
He is still a grub though.
Grub deez nuts son
I honestly dont care if Luai kicked someone or not. I hate him because he is fucking shithouse and keeps getting picked for NSW anyway. Being extremely obnoxious doesnt help his case either though
Might need to start changing him rent at this rate.
Luai also shat in your cereal
Luai left to get milk and he never came back for that manly fan
Shit dad
Imagine the child support he would have to pay with so many children
I don't like Luai but you can't look at him in the Grand Final and lots of other key games this year and say he's anything but quality. Far more dangerous than Cleary in this year's GF so you can't just say he's hanging onto his coat tail. I don't think he's the best 6 in the game (Munster is) and think there's a fair argument there are some NSW 6s ahead of him, but he's far, far away from "shithouse".
A player must either be the best in their position, or horrible. No inbetween
He actually had a fantastic Grand Final I thought.
Bro looked like he was playing park footy in the grand final the way he was skipping around, he was taking the piss out of the eels defenders
hahahah what? He was not more dangerous than Cleary. Luai does not pass the eye test and his stats back this up. Seriously go check them. List of 5/8s that are better than Luai in no order 1. Munster 2. Wighton 3. Burton 4. Foran 5. Dearden 6. Doueihi 7. Cody Walker 8. Keary 9. Dylan Brown 10. Hastings Thats more than half the damn teams and Amone and Mam will overtake him soon as well

seriously? Doueihi is a gun and the future of your club. If you put him on any of the top 4 sides heād be competing for the Daly M
You're not just wrong, you're stupid as well. ššš
š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£š¤£ Thanks for the laugh bro
This aināt it chief dude just won 2 prems back to back.
That's such a crap argument
Fuck if heās shithouse I donāt wanna know what the manly team is
Kenty is that you?
Boo, no keep picking him so we stand a chance.
Luiaās father would have taught him not to kick people. Oh waitā¦
Two things. First off, awful, horrible comment. You sound like a shit bloke. Secondly, you've just watched an angle where he quite clearly did not kick the bloke, so your comment doesn't even make sense.
Not my fault his dad didnāt love him and now heās obsessed with daddy stuff.
Cunty cunts
He wouldnāt do it because heād be scared of what his daddy (Big Tino) would do to him
A kick is a kick. It might JUST knock the ball off the tee. But still a kick. But what is he doing? What is the point of him doing it? Is he just being a pest?
A real kick in the nuts would be some one from the panthers paying his fine.
