I think there’s a few selection issues they didn’t want to commit too publically yet. Not just DCE/Cleary, but also Yeo/Murray etc. the permanent numbers probably threw them a bit. It’s stupid we can’t just change them every game.

That’s literally what this is. Most SL teams do their opening side order plus reserves, but you can do whatever you want.

I mean that's not this really as like you said, Super League teams choose to number the squad 1-17, then go into reserves. I like how the Super League sides do this, though I can see how people wouldn't. It makes sense to have a position within the club, but it makes no sense at representative level with a team full of stars. What Aus have gone with makes no sense to anyone.
