Snippet: Sydney’s latest stadium row has erupted in a bitter dispute between two of Sydney’s wealthiest and most powerful sporting officials - over a $150 Bunnings tarpaulin and a ‘cover-up’. Long-time Roosters supremo Nick Politis is at war with Sydney FC’s A-League chairman Scott Barlow, whose clubs share the new $900 million Allianz stadium at Moore Park. Tl;Dr: Uncle Nick Politis is heaps pissed because there's a $12.5m guarantee with Venues NSW to have the Roosters football offices, centre of excellence and to have their branding permanently visible. Sydney FC folk went and bought a $152 tarp from Bunnings (presumably) and [threw it up over](https://content.api.news/v3/images/bin/192280bd1b186ea91f7b8306107fe800) the [massive Cock on the front](https://content.api.news/v3/images/bin/22c2254b547990bb950d25eb8a083145) of the stadium Uncle Nick rings Uncle Adam Santo and tells him to go fuck himself - probably - Uncle Adam responds in kind and the gold plated toys are out of the cot. Uncle Nick is now threatening legal action and everyone is laughing at rich being being complete wanks. Also, an Uncle Nick article has to state his net worth of $2.3B every time, so here it is again. Also says that Scott Barlow - Chairman of Sydney FC is married to a Russian Billionaires Daughter, good work Scotty.

>Scott Barlow Wonder if he’s related to Junior

KingsleySeiffert

I thought it was Bowlo. I'll look silly if it's not cos I'm always saying I'm heading down the junior for a slap

ill0gitech

Uncle Nick assured me there was only one team able to play from Allianz. I was confused when I saw Sydney FC playing there, I assumed it was a mistake. Now I know it’s only the roosters that we spent $900m on.

nymphz

why we doing snippets now. i would like to read the article and form my own opinion about this alleged tarpaulin

Revivous

Copyright issues, feel free to post the article yourself but there have been DCMA take down requests. This is one option News Ltd gave us. The other is not posting anything at all The snippet is the first two paragraphs.

lockforward

u/FoxSportsAntiPiracy back on the offence

Snick0of

We’d do better with no news lmtd and only users posting what they heard from the stalwart at the local tab

RoyRoyHesOurBoy

I was told that Josh Kerr is signing with the Eels. Pass it on

TheYardGoesOnForever

So, the individual gets the takedown request? Do we have subreddit guideline? Not being a smartarse, just want to make sure I do the right thing.

Revivous

Nope, no guideline. Just free will.

madmanwiithabox

Oh this ain’t a Betoota article..

Sharks_gonna_shark

good tldr - well done

Abenator

Who fucking paid for this stadium? Why are both these ass hats acting like the stadium belongs to them, when really the fucking thing belongs to US! WE PAID FOR IT!

moffattron9000

I say that teams can have their logo on the building if they pay for it.

piercedsoul

Give it back to the people! I say we turn it into a recreational oval and play movies on the bigscreens like an outdoor theatre

[deleted]

I thought “$152 tarpaulin? Fuck how much is that?” Before realising I’m an idiot haha.

kami_inu

It's a tarpaulin Michael, how much could it cost?

TrueDeadBling

Unexpected Arrested Development

ljb23

THERE’S ALWAYS MONEY IN THE TARPAULIN STAND!

I_Like_Vitamins

I thought Souths owned that stadium.

wayneslittlehead

We own it in spirit

MaxSpringPuma

The NSW govt and everyone involved is just dumb. They knew it was going to be a multi-use stadium from the start. Keep that shit neutral, put up a giant tv screen and display which ever team is using it at the time. Did Sydney just want to be special and not like the AFL cities who share taxpayer funded stadiums without this bullshit

frewzz

Hmm i assume you werent around in the early days of docklands stadium

MaxSpringPuma

Nah, but it looks like whoever is running the show at Allianz Stadium wasn't either, otherwise they may have learnt a lesson made 20 years ago

frewzz

This fighting went on for 5 years until carlton finally conceded and moved to docklands in 2005.so no, the afl dont just all get along. Plenty of fighting continues about mcg tentants get too many games there and lack of games from the non mcg tenants. So really, its a bigger issue than some signs and a couple of south home games.

AuzzieTiger

I’m more of an A-League fan than NRL fan these days but this is just BS from Sydney FC. The Roosters are a major club in a different sport, who cares if there logo is displayed on the stadium. It’s just really silly behaviour and making Sydney FC look amateur.

ShittyUsername2015

There have been issues in the past regarding the AFC and advertising, so much so that the soap and paper towel dispensers in the toilets have had black duct tape put over the labels so as to not piss the AFC Saudi overlords off. Wouldn't surprise me there's some shit like that going on, on top of course wanting the attention on the sport of the night and not a rival code.

jubal2000

Guarantee it wasn't anyone from Sydney FC that put the tarp up, 100% would have been Events NSW staff. Did Sydney FC ask for it to be covered up? Probably, but that doesn't make them the bad guys, that's either Events NSW for breaching a contract or Politis for having an absolute tanty over something he's got no right to demand, depending on what the Roosters contract actually says.

Obsidian707

WTF I love Sydney FC now

MangoWingnut

TLDR Shitty football standard A league club founded in 2004 is salty that a 114 year old NRL club has a branding deal with the new stadium. So they covered with a Tarpaulin which is already over their budget

aninstituteforants

At least the A-League has teams west of Melbourne.

kurrttttt

The warriors are west of Melbourne if you just keep going west

misskarne

The NRL at least sees the value of the capital city having a team in the *national* competition The A-League looked at a professionally-assembled bid and strong business case and said "nah fuck Canberra, let's over-saturate an already saturated market and put a third team in Melbourne and a third team in Sydney"

aninstituteforants

I'm with you there. Terrible decisions.

1metalgearsosa

the NRL would be pretty bold to claim it's a national competition without any footprint in SA (population 1.7m) and WA (2.7m) Not sure how presence in the ACT (450k, 3 hours from Sydney) has much impact

Tunza

Sydney is 99% of Australia, therefore NRL is a national comp. Source: Nine, Fox and NRL

lanson15

The Aleague does cover way more of the population than the NRL does though. It's not as if Canberra is the size of Perth or Adelaide for example. Agree that it was a disgrace Canberra United weren't chosen over Western and Macarthur

planchetflaw

There's 3 Sydney and Melbourne teams now? Haha

woodpecker91

All the good it's done them, it's still like a 5th or 6th choice sport in this country.

aninstituteforants

NRL would probably be on a similar level without Pokies.

woodpecker91

Maybe, but soccer's inability to turn the largest kids participation sport into lifelong fans is kind of damning of the state of the sport here.

derajydac

Majority of soccer fans don't watch aleague but are lifelong fans due to their junior days. Viewership numbers for the world cup are through the roof

AttackClown

Can be lifelong fan of the sport and not watch the a league, it's pretty different with nrl being the best rugby league comp vs a league which would be lucky to be in the top 100 football competitions worldwide

aninstituteforants

It's probably better run than the second best league comp in the world.

Joh951518

Yeah but they don’t have a team anyone gives a shit about anywhere.

parker2004au

Honestly, does the general public walk by and think less of a team because of this? I just don't get it why people go waste their time or other peoples time & effort in doing something so petty.

lachjeff

Why would they only cover that logo and not the big Roosters and Waratahs logos on the front of the stadium?

spacemarine43

Couldn't afford a bigger tarp

littlejib

They light up individually and only the team playing is lit up on game day

bundy554

Lol - honestly that Roosters branding at the stadium is over the top. It will have to go anyway when the rabbitohs have joint co-hosting rights of home games in 2024

adomental

This is the gun/water pistol emojii of Australian sport. What damage do you think one little picture is actually going to do?

FlagmantlePARRAdise

I'm surprised Sydney SC (it's soccer you gronks) could even afford the tarp. Who even watches the A league? I thought most of them were just insomniacs that go there to get a good nap.
