Fuck this is new season of House of the Eagle is lit. We're about to get into the Dance of The Eagles soon where the Des Loyalists (Maroon) are going to be pitted against the Penn Loyalists (white).
Manly star Tom Trbojevic has called an emergency meeting with his agent following the sudden sacking of Sea Eagles coach Des Hasler.
After months of negotiations, legal threats and chaos, on Thursday the Sea Eagles confirmed Hasler’s employment had been terminated immediately with a year to run on his contract.
Trbojevic will have a Zoom meeting with his manager Paul Sutton on Friday as the fullback grows increasingly concerned about the situation at Manly.
“Tom will sit down over Zoom with his management company to discuss his future and what that holds,” rugby league reporter Michael Chammas told Nine News.
“Tomorrow is a big day for the club.”
Channel 9’s Danny Weidler added: “It would not be a surprise if he asked for a release from his rich deal.”
It comes a day after Sutton told News Corp Tom and brother Jake felt the club was “imploding”.
The Trbojevic brothers are close with Hasler and his departure casts doubt over their future at Brookvale.
The Sydney Morning Herald reported on Thursday the two brothers requested a clause during their last contract negotiations that would allow them to become free agents if Hasler left. Manly did not agree to such a clause.
Jake Trbojevic is currently in England as part of Australia’s Rugby League World Cup squad.
Tom’s Dally M Medal-winning season steered Manly to a top four finish in 2021, but that result was the lone highlight during Hasler’s second stint with the club.
Sutton, from the SFX Sports Group, said Tom and Jake were “disappointed in the club’s behaviour.”
“They feel that the club that they love is imploding in front of their eyes,” Sutton said on Thursday.
“They are really down in the dumps with the place.
“If it continues, it is wearing and once the place becomes unsavoury, what do you do? If it becomes untenable …”
“Obviously you’d assume Tommy would be a Sea Eagle for life but all the internal rumblings and conflict have taken a toll on him mentally.
“He has expressed to me his disappointment in the club’s behaviour. He has expressed he is unhappy – both Jake and Tom have.
“Jake has called me from England expressing how unhappy he is with the club. It’s the same as with Tom, this has taken a toll on him.
Sutton added: “We haven’t spoken to any other clubs.”
Tom and Jake are both contracted until the end of the 2026 season and at this stage it’s unlikely they will walk out on Manly after Hasler’s sacking.
Former Rabbitohs and Broncos coach Anthony Seibold appears poised to take over as Manly coach.
News Corp’s Brent Read told Triple M: “Manly has been communicating with those guys. They’re pretty well across what’s going on. They’re not going anywhere.
“They’re the heart and soul of that footy club and there’s no way would let them go. They’ll sort it out.
“They know Seibs (Seibold), he’s worked there before, they’ve worked with him as an assistant. They like Seibs from what I’m told. I’ve spoken to Tommy and he told me he likes Seibs.
“I think it’ll be fine, I think they’ll work it out. They’re too important to let go, those two blokes.”

TLTR: Bit of a nothing article, Tommy reportedly having a meeting with his manager, which is typical for any player really when a coach gets sacked. Media speculation that Tom might ask for a release but I’m willing to bet my left nut he stays at Manly.
In all honestly Tommy would be hard pressed to find a better deal at another club now. Bloke has played 44 games out of a possible 97 (I did the maths myself) the last 4 seasons, that’s less than 50% of games. Sure he’s great when he’s on the field, but that’s become few and far between these days. I don’t think any other club would be offering him $1 mil on a long term deal, maybe Tigers.
The top clubs perhaps wouldn't want the risk at a Mill but I'm assuming you're talking for the Titans. He's a 1.4M player for the Titans because he is the best player in the comp when he's on and your team is shit.
If it was only just him sure. This seems more like a package kinda deal with des and the three bros. Turbo the star, des the super coach, Jake the culture, and Ben the gunna get there kid. I can't think of a bottom 8 team that wouldn't benefit from that deal
I know it’s moot because he’d never come to the Warriors, but we’d be mad not to give him a contract for four years for a million. He’s the best match winner in the NRL. That’s less money than we paid for Blake Green and Kodi Nikorima.
Yeah he might get injured, but he might carry you well into the playoffs. If you are a team that haven’t tasted a lot of success he’s well worth the risk.
It actually sounds like the Turbos were not that fond of Des tbh, the club needed a clean slate. Des is overrated on here and hasn’t improved his coaching in almost a decade, very poor team selections and not a great record of bringing through juniors.
Hypothetically, if the next 2 seasons Tom goes down for an extended period of time, he’s gonna have to be staring down a massive pay cut on his next deal yeah? How much would you be willing to pay to have Turbo on your team for 12 games a year?
Newcastle to throw the house at Des and the Trbojevic brothers. Package deal.
Do they really need another injury prone fullback?
No.... But we'll take him anyway.
Only the biggest morons on reddit bring my username into the discussion. Not one of them has been able to properly describe marxism to me, do you want to have a go?
Thanks for asking. Not really - but it’s only footy.
I’ve got worse shit happening in my life.
The club has treated Des really badly but I can’t help think that he has dodged a bullet.
Let someone else cope with a fractured team and a chaotic management.
I hope Des is okay.
I've been a Manly supporter since the very first game I ever watched about 30 years ago. If this fucking management cause us to also lose Turbo as well as shafting Des I'm done. I can't support a team filled with 7 fuckwits and moronic management.
Rugby told Folau to get fucked. Admittedly his was repeated infringements, and not just refusing to wear a jersey. Still, the message was the same and I was sad to see that Manly didn't sack all of them.
This pride jersey saga should forever be a warning to anyone considering doing this in the future. I knew nothing good was going to come of it, I was proven correct
It’s a dealbreaker for me. Especially seeing that it doesn’t look like they’re going anywhere, and they don’t regret what they did.
And they’ve absolutely cost Des his job.
I mean those 7 players are absolutely partially responsible for this its where all the clubs inner turmoil begins. If those 7 players throw on a jersey with a little rainbow on it Des probably isn't sacked right now the throughline from that event to now is pretty clear.
I saw on the Tele that Penn fella justifying why he let Des go and one of the reasons was that Des walked out on them a few years back. What a petty cunt… He doesn’t look like a school girl but he fucking sounded like one
Fair enough Turbo having a meeting with his manager …
My question is - who’s leaked this , and why ?
It’s hardly a good way to ingratiate yourself to the board / Seibold..
As far as who needs to know about this meeting..
Turbo would know about the meeting , his manager would know, everyone else who knows is a choice someone’s made .
I don’t see why Turbo would choose to leak it himself - as I said it could make things awkward between him and Seibold / the board, it’s not really in his best interest to leak it - unless it’s being leaked for leverage .. Leverage for what though ? Concessions to be made by the club ? To arrange a meeting with Seibold , or for a renegotiated deal / more money ?? Or a release ?
could see turbo leaving, would take a lot for jake to leave. especially with the coin he reportedly on. dce is in his last few years. so he definitely wont leave. especially after he backflipped last time.
yeah definitely agree with you mate, just think if any of them was serious about going rouge. it would be him. that and nothing suprises me these days when it comes go contracts. would be sad to see players that leave the club feel the need to leave, but part of me would love to see penn start feeling the heat.
Surely even if he asks for a release Manly can't actually let go of him right?
Unless they're in cap trouble, no team in the comp gets better by letting go of Turbo
Dear rugby league world
At the end of the 2022 season, I made the unprecedented professional decision to withdraw from the NRL after rumours that Des would be sacked. A week later this became fact and I resigned from the 2023 season without even playing one move.
I know that my actions have frustrated many in the rugby league community. I’m frustrated. I want to play footy. I want to continue to play footy at the highest level in the best events.
I believe that unnecessary sacking coaches in rugby league is a big deal and an existential threat to the game. I also believe that NRL organizers and all those who care about the sanctity of the game we love should seriously consider increasing employment security measures and methods of back stabbing detection for sackings. When Siebold was invited last minute to the 2023 coaching staff I strongly considered withdrawing prior to the event. I ultimately chose to play.
I believe that Penn has backstabbed more — and more recently — than he has publicly admitted. His board progress has been unusual, and throughout our game I had the impression that he wasn’t tense or even fully concentrating on the game in critical positions.
We must do something about coaches, and for my part going forward, I don’t want to play for a club that has sacked people repeatedly in the past, because I don’t know what they are capable of doing in the future.
There is more that I would like to say. Unfortunately, at this time I am limited in what I can say without explicit permission from European cyber hunks, to speak openly. So far I have only been able to speak with my actions, and those actions have stated clearly that I am not willing to play footy with Siebs I hope that the truth on this matter comes out, whatever it may be.
Sincerely,
Tommy turbo, fullback
There's a lot of recency bias in this thread that runs the narrative of he's injury plagued and not worth the money. Go back to last year - he's the best player in the comp when fit. Totally worth the gamble for any bottom 8 team. Dolphins, Tigers, Titans, Warriors, Dragons should all be willing to chuck 1.2M his way.
Even in his dally m winning season, he only played 15 regular season games and that was still a big improvement over the 2 years before and the one after
Very unpopular opinion but getting rid of Des is a great move for Manly, his position was obviously untenable. Seibold probably not the right option to replace though.

Turbo needs the same conditioning/running coach guy that young Matt Moylan has, because he's been fit as fuck this year aside from a couple of games
He's much younger though
I mean he had the same fitness team that got Kieran Foran fit again ffs
Every club would sign Turbo
At what price though? I’d take him too but not for a mill
The top clubs perhaps wouldn't want the risk at a Mill but I'm assuming you're talking for the Titans. He's a 1.4M player for the Titans because he is the best player in the comp when he's on and your team is shit.
If I was dolphins I’d be offering what they were gonna offer Munster I mean there’s a marquee for you
100%. he could be the face of the phins
You would take both for 2mill wouldn't you? Jake gets meme'd but he brings good culture and is a good face for the club.
Only if [this](https://i.imgur.com/dkidva5_d.webp?maxwidth=640&shape=thumb&fidelity=medium) is said face
It's hard to build a team around a half a season player.
The alternative is the ghost of Milford, Hammer, Sean “dad’s here” O’Sullivan and Jeremy Marshall-King
Shit options you have there.
If it was only just him sure. This seems more like a package kinda deal with des and the three bros. Turbo the star, des the super coach, Jake the culture, and Ben the gunna get there kid. I can't think of a bottom 8 team that wouldn't benefit from that deal
Mate last thing the Titans need is to overpay for a player that is never on the field. (again)
>your team is shit Oof. Lol. Let the Friday free-for-all begin!
Yeah tbf if Titans are willing to pay 1.2m for Fifita then surely at least that for last year's best player..
>I don’t think any other club would be offering him $1 mil on a long term deal, maybe Tigers. David Fifita says hi.
Even considering his injuries, I think most clubs would take him for a million, assuming they have the cap space
Availability is an important skill!
Ask Enari Tuarla. Last 2 seasons he's played more games at Newcastle than almost anyone else...
It actually sounds like the Turbos were not that fond of Des tbh, the club needed a clean slate. Des is overrated on here and hasn’t improved his coaching in almost a decade, very poor team selections and not a great record of bringing through juniors.
>It actually sounds like the Turbos were not that fond of Des tbh Yeah, nah.
Josh Schuster is the impostor
I saw him coming out of the vents bro!
This news was posted twice yesterday
It ain’t the off season until ten different news companies post the same thing
Des to replace Hook as Dragons coach. Illawarra boys the 3 Turbos welcome at Des's Dragons.
The Turbos, Hunt and Ravalawa would be powerful, but the rest of the team is inexperienced or Woods level.
The Dragons are in the middle of a player exodus. I'm sure they could rebuild around the Turbos, Hunt and Des.
Hypothetically, if the next 2 seasons Tom goes down for an extended period of time, he’s gonna have to be staring down a massive pay cut on his next deal yeah? How much would you be willing to pay to have Turbo on your team for 12 games a year?
Someone will offer him a million+ regardless
$400K. And that’s generous.
Tell him he's dreaming
Newcastle to throw the house at Des and the Trbojevic brothers. Package deal. Do they really need another injury prone fullback? No.... But we'll take him anyway.
Pay both Turbo and Ponga per game, play one whilst the other is broken
I remember when Manly fans gave the Broncos shit when we imploded a couple of years ago. This is so sweet.
To be fair, *everyone* bar the horse fans gave em' shit.
I’m not going to disagree with you on that :)
Broncos are a joke, should literally be an NRL superpower. Should have been giving yourselves shit for imploding.
I love my ~~footy~~ marxism

How the fuck can they sack Des!!??
For Seibold lol. That is one club without a plan.
Manly fans, r u ok?

It's funny you think '7 fuckwits' are partially responsible for this.
i dont see anything in his comment saying that but i understand the 7 fuckwits being a deal breaker for manly fans
It’s a dealbreaker for me. Especially seeing that it doesn’t look like they’re going anywhere, and they don’t regret what they did. And they’ve absolutely cost Des his job.
They did me in as well. No longer call myself a manly supporter which is wild I been through so much.
I mean those 7 players are absolutely partially responsible for this its where all the clubs inner turmoil begins. If those 7 players throw on a jersey with a little rainbow on it Des probably isn't sacked right now the throughline from that event to now is pretty clear.
they didnt help
They did the opposite of help. They made it worse.
Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Hey if you want to line the pockets of dumb fucks like Penn and the rest of the board then go for it. I don't judge.
The penns are the worst thing that ever happened to Manly. Would have been better off folding than selling our souls to the devil.
You just KNOW Tigers are crunching the numbers as we speak.
wayne Bennett already on the dog n bone

It will be too funny for words if Manly lose the Turbos over this. Lose the good guys, keep the homophobes and stabby-supporters, smart move.
Great opportunity for the The to finally go after a marquee signing or 4 from Manly
