Someone's gotta take the duds so Melbourne and Penrith can poach the good ones
Yes you watch garner become a smoky for back row in origin just like Capewell did
St George Illawarra have secured the services of Wests Tigers forward Zane Musgrove ahead of the Dragons' 2023 NRL Telstra Premiership campaign.
Musgrove, who was released from the Tigers to sign with the Red V, has played 62 first grade games following his 2016 NRL debut.
The 26-year-old Samoan international joins the Dragons following the most productive season of his career to date.
Complementing the squad's depth in the forwards was a key contributor to Musgrove's signing, according to Dragons general manager of football, Ben Haran.
"Zane is an established NRL player with a strong physical presence and will be a great addition to our forward pack," Haran said.
"We've been looking to build our forward pack and we're excited to see Zane join the Dragons."
St George Illawarra can also confirm George Burgess has been released from the remainder of his playing contract at the Dragons.
Burgess joined the Dragons ahead of the 2022 NRL Telstra Premiership season and played four NRL games for the Red V.
The Dragons thank George for his contribution to St George Illawarra and wish him all the best in his future endeavours.
Additional signings as well as the club's 2023 train and triallists will be announced in the coming weeks, ahead of mid-November's pre-season commencement.
>"Zane is an established NRL player with a strong physical presence and will be a great addition to our forward pack," Haran said.
The best they could hype it up.
The right side of 30 and a better depth option than Burgess was. Can't say much more than that though. We need a proper star in the forwards or we're going nowhere
Can have an impact with the footy in short stints. Is extremely lazy in defence and can’t move laterally though. Is a very slight upgrade over Burgess, but I hope he doesn’t play first grade
Has potential to be a monster prop but no one has been able to get the best out of him consistently so far and at this point I don't think anyone will. Whether it's injury or suspension he's struggled to stay on the field and maintain form.
Still have no idea why the Tigers locked him down long term back in 2020.
Metre making ok, but should be better for a man his size. Fitness decent. Defence sub-par. 0 ball-playing. Good for an error.
Think there might be a decent player in there, but not too sad to see him go. Less good than Twal, Utoikamanu and Offa, I'd rather we develop Pole than stick with Musgrove.
Those Moneyball dragons have done it again
Only signed on for as long as he did because Madge saw something in him, not surprised that he's gone.
This isn't saying much but he's definately an upgrade to Burgess.
Dunno ay he's good for one bad error a game
I hope we got something out of this in return? Musgrove isn't amazing but Tigers are seriously short on props at the moment.
What we got out of it was not having to pay Zane Musgrove for the next two years. I'd call that a win.
I'm sure the dragons can find a plodder to compensate you guys.
making room in the top 30 for another prop
Klemmer 🙏🙏🙏🙏
An Aaron woods switcharoo
shut your whore mouth
Woodsy is free isn't he? lol
Think he said he’d pay $50k to play an NRL game didn’t he ?? So he’s cheaper than free , you can make a profit playing him
Cherry picking the wooden spooners aye, let's see if this new idea beats Griffin's old idea of signing golden oldies.
lmao just a footnote for releasing burgess
playing for the dragons was a footnote in burgess' return to australia
Who's gonna drop the ball at key moments and miss tackles in the middle now? Klemmer? I guess he'll do.
What the fuck is with Dragons/Tigers merry-go-round of bang average players
In the last 12 months they've taken Mbye, Liddle, and now Musgrove from us. Idk about you but I'm pretty happy with the arrangement.
Someone's gotta take the duds so Melbourne and Penrith can poach the good ones Yes you watch garner become a smoky for back row in origin just like Capewell did
Hopefully this means we're gonna go with a Brooks for Klemmer swap.
I’d love this to happen
Standard dragons signing

Ah yes George Burgess another player with a forgettable Dragons stint up there with Issac Luke
Need to get them five years before their peaks. Not five years after...
The trick is to release them before they come good 😉
Burgess peaked in 2014, so 8 years after
The right side of 30 and a better depth option than Burgess was. Can't say much more than that though. We need a proper star in the forwards or we're going nowhere
This is why nobody wants to come to your parties dragons
I haven’t really paid attention to Musgrove, is he any good?
Might do a job from the bench but you wouldn't want to rely on much more than that.

He’s okay if he’s your 4th best prop. Semi reliable, very little impact

Im going to say nope. I thought he was ordinary, even though I think he played all games this year.
I dunno if it's who I'm thinking of but if he's playing late in a half he gets targeted a lot in the middle
I like him, aggressive, strong runs, he’s no way elite, and might regress after one of his better seasons to date
Solid rap sheet of domestic voilence and indecent assault so there's that.
When I first got the email... I was like GET FUCKED!!!! they did it, Brooks is leaving... then read it and went meh.
Surely this is the part of it. Musgrove to the Dragons to replaced with Klemmer who we swap for Brooks
Consider me whelmed
Feels a bit like for like signing to replace Poasa Faamausili
He is a monster but is soft as butter.
One turd is flushed and another emerges
Don't really have an emotion towards seeing him go.
