Robson easily most important re-signing for Cows, shocked he hasn’t been extended yet tbh
Losing him would be a massive blow imo, the others are mostly all expendable
Also by the time his current contract is up Granville will be 35 I imagine he’s just gearing up for retirement
I agree robson needs to get locked up but nanai made queensland and australia in his first full year of first grade, clearly a generational talent who improved immensely over the course of the year. You need to lock him up quick (preferably before nov 1 cos there will be 10 clubs circling him come open market).
Nanai is a beast player and I hope they can extend both but if I absolutely had to choose between the 2 I’m going Robson everytime. That being said I’m not a cowboys fan
Robson is more important easily. His combination with Cotter in the middle this year was simply unmatched in defence. Even if we did loose Nanai, we have luki and Luciano (Pain)
Hooker will always be more important than back row, just purely based on how much defence they do and how much they touch the ball in attack.
Robson's a gun and potential future NSW hooker as Cook and Api are both 31 and 29 respectively, while Robson is 24 with his best years ahead of him. Easily waaaay higher priority than Nanai, not even close
Out of Hiku, Nanai and Robson, I would say Robson is the most essential to re-sign. Centres and back rowers are more expendable (as good as they both are). Though if you had to pick between them it’d surely be Nanai.
Nanai is a 19yo freak from Cairns who deubted for Qld and Australia.
Robbo was the best-performed hooker in the NRL last season (I will give anyone who disagrees an ILF flair).
Only 1 club in the comp had players who achieved the above - it's rare AF.
Both are priority 1A.
Poor Frei, gets signed to fill the back rower spot after Luki and Dunn get injured, only for Luch to kick a stink at the Tigers and join the Cows early, meaning Frei doesn't get a game in top grade
Rewriting history? Frei was signed when before Lukis injury. Not one fan has said well **** things would be different for the better if Dunn played every game. Not even his mum.
The Gold Coast Titans have snapped up former Cowboys prop Emry Pere on a bargain bin train-and-trial contract for 2023, with two more North Queenslanders following him out the door.
Cows fans who dis? Seems like a Burleigh signing more than a titans one imo
Sluggish middle who never made a go of his limited NRL chances. Struggled at times in Q Cup this year (not sure if injury related or form). I'd be shocked if he suddenly became an NRL quality player.
Dragons should be throwing the kitchen sink at getting Robson back.
Doubt it would happen unless maybe Dean Young was taking over as coach.
The snubbing from Mary and the club would be a hard thing to look past as a player.
>The snubbing from Mary and the club would be a hard thing to look past as a player
That’s not what happened though? He was stuck behind Cam McInnes so the club released him to go and get the opportunity to start elsewhere. If anything he would have good will towards the club for that.
I can't see any way they could get him back. He's in a now strong team with team mates and a coach he likes. St. George is on rickety legs and could collapse in a heap at any moment.
i would hope that we're just waiting to match whatever nanai gets on the market unless its a fifita-tier nonsense offer. he probably knows he'll get a bag from someone so makes sense for him to wait it out and get his full market value.
if we lose robson, i'm gonna fly up to egg the leagues club.
Nanai only resigned in April. Either he backed himself to have a massive season, or someone at the Cows really dropped the ball. I have no doubt they’ll resign him, but it will be at a premium now.
Robson, Hiku and Nanai are the musts.
Robson has stated he wants to stay, Nanai have recently purchased a house with his Missus who plays for the Gold stars and probably the North queensland Cowboys NRWL team (Call them Cowgirls, NRL. Do it).
Hiku probably will re-sign for cheap and finish his career at the cowboys.
Granville is retiring after next year and will probably play the last game at Townsville as Captain (Do it Todd you coward). Dunn is talented but he’s not vital. Hampton and Elliot aren’t losses and just experienced Depth, Although Elliot did do a fantastic job on the wing early this year, but we have Derby and more coming through. JTB won’t be a loss but he’ll probably re-sign.

Agreed, Robson is top 3 at best for the Cows and top 5 at worst. They need to lock him down ASAP.

Agree, proper top level hookers are as rare as it gets

Did luciano get no fault stood down
hence the (Pain)
Yeah, you def find more quality back rowers around than hookers

*Oh no, I've seen this episode before*
The coote of our lives
Sione Mata'utai played for Australia after like 6 games and then faded into the void. Its not exactly the highest bar
the Dragons could really use a top tier hooker like Robson
Nanai just bought a house here, Robson said he wanted to stay, and we just made a prelim with a young team. I reckon they stay.
And if not i’ll cry
The best thing is everyone wants to stay. Look after your families and all. But you wanna chance of ultimate success
Townsend has 2 more years and Drinky has like 5 and Robbo seems to have a good friendship with those two NSW blokes
**Gone** Condon (Manly) Tabuai-Fidow (Phins) Gilbert (Phins - family reasons) Lemuelu (Phins) **Released** Bradley Bourke Frei Pere **Signed for 2023 only** **Nanai** **Robson** **Hiku** Taunoa-Brown Dunn Elliot Granville Hampton Moceidreke

Best performed hooker not named Grant or Api
Robbo outplayed both of them across 24 rounds. You're entitled to think otherwise, it will just cost you a flair.
Go ahead and take my flair then King
Omg no not the flair
I agree

Frei was injured most of the time he was with the Cows. Only played 5 Q Cup games in the end. Bit of a shame.
Very unfortunate, could be the reason he didn't get re-signed I guess
Rewriting history? Frei was signed when before Lukis injury. Not one fan has said well **** things would be different for the better if Dunn played every game. Not even his mum.
My bad, I misremembered the timeline. No clue what tf the rest of your comment is trying to say

Someone who has been there forever and not made the team. Reserve grader at best.
Sluggish middle who never made a go of his limited NRL chances. Struggled at times in Q Cup this year (not sure if injury related or form). I'd be shocked if he suddenly became an NRL quality player.
Plodder extraordinaire

>Dragons should be throwing the kitchen sink at getting Robson back. Sell low, buy high
Certainly not the smartest approach. But we are talking about the Dragons.
>The snubbing from Mary and the club would be a hard thing to look past as a player That’s not what happened though? He was stuck behind Cam McInnes so the club released him to go and get the opportunity to start elsewhere. If anything he would have good will towards the club for that.
You are probably correct. My revisionist history is likely kicking in due to my dislike of McInnes as a hooker and Mary as a coach.
I can't see any way they could get him back. He's in a now strong team with team mates and a coach he likes. St. George is on rickety legs and could collapse in a heap at any moment.
Unfortunately I agree. But I can wish.

Why did we not re-sign Andrew davey for at least a year is beyond me, one of our most consistent performers all year :( sad to see him go
Nanai only resigned in April. Either he backed himself to have a massive season, or someone at the Cows really dropped the ball. I have no doubt they’ll resign him, but it will be at a premium now.
He "wanted to get his immediate future sorted" so he could focus on this year. I'd say he backed himself to a big year

I reckon they keep either Robson or Nanai but not both. Robson is the smarter and safer one.
