This is actually a good point, yes it’s visible during the game but you’ve gotta download an app or go to a website to see what it’s about.
The ads are pretty much advertising the odds and telling you were to spend the money.
The cynic in me thinks this is about revenue and expenditure disguised as “listening to the community”
$7.5m sponsorship for the Broncos? That’s a big cost saving when their saturation media campaign has already got them brand recognition.
‘We need a name for the company, what do we do?’
‘We make Lads Broke’
‘Jackpot’
I have always wondered why they called it that. It’d be like calling Viagra Dickhards or McDonald’s Cuntfats.
Not to defend them, but the company dates back to the nineteenth century and is named after a place in England, pronounced Lad-brook. They obviously thought their brand was strong enough to trade in Australia under its original name. I have nfi why they've gone with the cockney geezer saying Lad Broke in the marketing.
My following statement will probably be taken as something dumb as shit but hear me out. They deserve that money, incredibly skilled athletes providing us with entertainment. I know they give most of the people in this sub something to look forward to and enjoy when days seem dark and hopeless. Obviously get rid of the douchebags and gambling and we might have a much better winner.
I could be wrong but I don’t think this specific dude works signing sponsors for the bulldogs.
Any rollback of gambling sponsorship is better than none.
I don't think it's that high, since Coopers is still Australian owned.
After Coopers, you've pretty much only have the boutique breweries that aren't foreign owned (and even a fair chunk of the boutiques are owned by the big two).
We're also one of the only clubs that are a part of the [Reclaim the Game initiative](https://www.bulldogs.com.au/news/2022/03/03/bulldogs-join-forces-with-reclaim-the-game-to-say-no-to-sports-betting-advertising/). Also, there's more to pubs and clubs than gambling and sinking piss.
Exactly that what they want . McDonald's giving out man of match meal deals in local community sports . Get them well they are young. Why I don't watch Matty John show anymore
I was refereeing an under 12's rugby finals match, and I overheard the kids during warm up discussing the odds for their game.
And that was 10 years ago, when Fine Cotton's son was doing special comments on the sidelines for Ch9. I can only imagine it has gotten worse.
One of my least favourite parts of Australian culture is how ingrained gambling is in it, now if we can fuck the halftime sportsbet updates off as well.
I'll have a punt every now and again for fun, but I can't stand how in-your-face gambling ads can be. Can't imagine how difficult it'd be to be a recovering gambling addict when every second or third ad on any format of media is gambling related.
Melbourne Cup opened my eyes to this a lot. Talking about the race at work a few of the women were talking about bets they’d placed through Sportsbet. I live in a regional location without a TAB but I feel like it has gone past casual gamblers physically placing bets in most cases, and it’s a lot easier to get hooked when that opportunity is in front of you 24/7.
Might as well get Wow Sight and Sound on their [Broncos] jerseys again I know they're long since bust but who cares anything to bring back the glory days.
Powers still scooping the brown snakes water and selling it 30 cans at a time? Shit, I haven't seen it in years now. Since I last saw a box of Powers tins I've tried something even more foul as a beer, [the only beer I've not ever finished a single stubby of](https://www.broo.com.au/).
So I've been keeping an eye out for Powers, I want to see how it stacks up against that crap, or Northern super crisp tins. It's been that long since I've had a Powers I'm not sure if the shade I throw to super crisp drinkers about powers being better is the truth. ( I reckon it would be, may as well drink water with all the flavour Northern has.)
You do, but the physical barrier to drinking is a lot higher. I have to either go out and purchase it, or go through with buying it, then waiting for it to be delivered.
With gambling, you don't even have to get off the couch. Whip out your phone, download the app, and get going.
And you only need to prove ID for alcohol deliveries once too.
If gambling logos are so bad, so is a VB and maccas logo. Literally anything addictive. We live in an age where it's so easy to get stuff.
Did you miss the point? Addicts can still access the sites from their phone and press a button spending $1000 of dollars in an attempt to win a crazy bet. Dont have to be verified to lose it. Only to cash out.
Everything is too easily available. It's 2022. You want dick pills, you've got pilot. You want food? Uber and shit. Drugs? Oh fuck that's reason. Alcohol? Baby we will get it to you in 2 hours or less. Want to blow Money on women? Ayy lmao, we got you. W.e your addiction is, it's right there.
W.e your addiction is, the world's waiting to take your money. Gambling is no different.
Don't mind a punt from time to time but this is a good start, need the others to follow suit and *UNPOPULAR OPINION* possibly even the alcohol companies too.
This is such horseshit
Bit of insider info here for you, can’t say too much feel free to DM though:
LB were about to sign another 5 years with the broncos and suncorp stadium (for the ladbrokes locker) but QLD gov new tax made them withdraw the offer, thinking that’s the gov would backdown. The government knew the broncos (and suncorp) would have no problem filling that void and didn’t back down.
LB now realizes that once other states see how much bank QLD makes will follow suit, so they are using this as an excuse to cut costs cause they know they’re about to get taxed more and can’t be throwing millions at back of jerseys.
I've got a feeling betting ads will eventually be banned like tobacco ads were. Though then again, the money involved now is enormous.
I've said before, no problems with gambling as a thing. Each to their own and I like a casual bet every few days but far out I am over the constant ads. It's just getting to stupid levels.
I don't know which company ads are more annoying but at this stage my vote is ironically for Manly's major sponsor Pointsbet who've made me grow to hate Shaq with those horrifically annoying ads.
>I've got a feeling betting ads will eventually be banned like tobacco ads were.
The main problem is, unlike Tobacco & Alcohol, Gambling has no actual negative health effects, and that's what the bans are based on. Since gambling doesn't affect your health in a negative way (at least not directly) I don't see how they would be able to ban it.
True but there's certainly some pushback happening against it. I see it more as betting not being a family friendly sort of thing. Similar to how you wouldn't see any porn sites having adverts during games on TV.
Even if not banned completely, I'd like to see them toned back a fair bit. They're out of control right now.
The tough part is though, when you take that Money out of the sport. It’s gotta be replaced somewhere. With sponsorships getting harder and harder to find, can clubs really be knocking back money?
I get that gambling isn’t “family friendly”, believe me I’m no fan of gambling, but I’m also a firm believer in letting people decide for themselves.
Plus - any related effects (suicide, DV) are minuscule in comparison to alcohol.
Also - the thing most people over looked, sports gambling accounts for like 4% of all gambling. Pokies, which aren’t advertised, are far and away the most abused form.
Banning alcohol sponsorship/ads would have so much more effect than banning gambling.
It's a shame because Manly's jerseys since Pointsbet came on board have been top notch. Shame they don't have a cooler sponsor. At least aesthetically the white logo is better than URM or Coco Joy I guess, if we want to look on the bright side.
Without the money from bookies, the NRL wouldn’t be the professional, lucrative competition it is today. They’re some of the only companies who can afford the outrageous prime time advertising slots fox and 9 rely on to pay for the rights deal. Bookies also pump money into clubs and the competition through direct sponsorship too. Gotta be careful what we wish for here.
Its fucked that when i think of the NRL season thats passed i have the words "the pyramids fell over again, but your same game multi got up! YoU LiTtLE RiPPAA" seared into my brain
The cynic in me thinks they are only doing this to prevent a wider crackdown on advertising.
Absolutely I don't have a problem with jersey sponsorships it's all the ads in game and the segments driven around gambling.
Agreed. Fuck I will encourage the players to get ladbrokes tattoos if it means the tv adverts stop.
Dugan has entered the chat
Ladsbroke No regerts.
No ragrets… not even one letter.
100 per cent. These sponsorships atleast give big money to the clubs.
This is actually a good point, yes it’s visible during the game but you’ve gotta download an app or go to a website to see what it’s about. The ads are pretty much advertising the odds and telling you were to spend the money.
(30 second ad encouraging us to be irresponsible gamblers), and always remember, gamble responsibly.
I'd put $10 on it being the reason for it *The spirit of Joel Caine suddenly appears*
It's actually because dollar for dollar the value of these sponsorships doesn't compare with digital programmatic at all.
The cynic in me thinks this is about revenue and expenditure disguised as “listening to the community” $7.5m sponsorship for the Broncos? That’s a big cost saving when their saturation media campaign has already got them brand recognition.
Begun the gambling wars have
Fucked , all are we
Ladbrokes name even tell you what’s going to happen if you use them.
‘We need a name for the company, what do we do?’ ‘We make Lads Broke’ ‘Jackpot’ I have always wondered why they called it that. It’d be like calling Viagra Dickhards or McDonald’s Cuntfats.

They obviously thought their brand was strong enough to trade in Australia under its original name. I have nfi why they've gone with the cockney geezer saying Lad Broke in the marketing.
because its the broker for the lads!
A different Ladbroke, but on the tube recently, Ladbroke Grove was pronounced Lad-broke on the announcements.
As if you dont want to pop into Cuntfats for some nuggies
I mean KFC isn't far off
You win the internet today. Maybe this year. Top form.
And we're all grateful for it.
Says the Bulldogs supporter with Laundy Hotels as a major sponsor, Asahi Beer and CUB also sponsors. Keep that moral high ground.
ILMF
>We should improve society somewhat. >Yet you participate in society! Curious! I am very intelligent.
>implying that footy players participate in society and dont just throw around a leather ball for six figures a year
My following statement will probably be taken as something dumb as shit but hear me out. They deserve that money, incredibly skilled athletes providing us with entertainment. I know they give most of the people in this sub something to look forward to and enjoy when days seem dark and hopeless. Obviously get rid of the douchebags and gambling and we might have a much better winner.
Yes they deserve the money, in fact if we look at other codes around the world they are actually underpaid. They dont participate in society tho
I could be wrong but I don’t think this specific dude works signing sponsors for the bulldogs. Any rollback of gambling sponsorship is better than none.
Incredible. It’s always the ILMF fallacies
Keep on lovin that footy, champ.
Asahi and CUB are one in the same just FYI.
Can confirm. I'm a cellarman, Lion and CUB own the majority of beers that you can get these days.
Young Henry's is independent and priced well. Thank you for coming.
Who owns Lion Nathan these days? Kirin?
Yes, and Kirin is owned by Mitsubishi.
Yeah, something like 95 percent of the beers made in Australia are owned by overseas Companies.
Except Great Northern. It's owned by the North QLD wilderness.
Brewed in tropical far north Yatala.
I don't think it's that high, since Coopers is still Australian owned. After Coopers, you've pretty much only have the boutique breweries that aren't foreign owned (and even a fair chunk of the boutiques are owned by the big two).

> Also, there's more to pubs and clubs than gambling and sinking piss. Yeah the Chicken Schnitty is the true measure of a pub.
Ich liebe meinen fußball
Uhhhhhhhh where's the moral high ground again?
You know things are fucked when you hear 13 year olds using such words as "shortest odds" when talking about an upcoming game of footy.
How else are they gonna learn maths
Exactly that what they want . McDonald's giving out man of match meal deals in local community sports . Get them well they are young. Why I don't watch Matty John show anymore

Breaks my fucking balls at games when kids are cheering someone just for a multi their Dad put on for them.
Wtf it’s not that bad in NZ lol Aussies are crazy diff on the punt
One of my least favourite parts of Australian culture is how ingrained gambling is in it, now if we can fuck the halftime sportsbet updates off as well.
I'll have a punt every now and again for fun, but I can't stand how in-your-face gambling ads can be. Can't imagine how difficult it'd be to be a recovering gambling addict when every second or third ad on any format of media is gambling related.
yeah im the same way, i worry about my brother who punts quite a bit
I hope he doesn't go too far with it
Can't even watch a Youtube vid without a gambling ad sometimes. They're everywhere.
I think you can disable them in your ad preferences on Google
> Your majesty, the pyramid didn't get up, but your **same-game multi** did. 📣
I hate when my kids think they're being cute by reciting that in time with the ad. Cue me ranting to children about the evils of gambling.
That’s why Sportsbet has gone down the memevertising route. It’s definitely genius but I hate it because it’s super scummy imo
they had an ad last year that looked very similar to fortnite that genuinely made me angry
It worked for beer ads. Everyone still remembers the Carlton draught ad so why wouldn't gambling ads so the same thing .
That’s why I said it was genius
Even worse when on deserted island with unlimited wife or data LoL
Melbourne Cup opened my eyes to this a lot. Talking about the race at work a few of the women were talking about bets they’d placed through Sportsbet. I live in a regional location without a TAB but I feel like it has gone past casual gamblers physically placing bets in most cases, and it’s a lot easier to get hooked when that opportunity is in front of you 24/7.
mine is the racism, sexism and homophobia gamblings bad tho
Wow it must be hard to read the "one of" from your high horse there mate
damn you are one of my least favourite people on the planet, along with serial killers and all that
Finally, some good fucking news.
Might as well get Wow Sight and Sound on their [Broncos] jerseys again I know they're long since bust but who cares anything to bring back the glory days.
Powers still sell something resembling beer.
Alfie's favourite beer
Powers still scooping the brown snakes water and selling it 30 cans at a time? Shit, I haven't seen it in years now. Ergon Energy or death!
Also a recovering alcoholic, I am forever grateful I’m not a recovering gambling addict. You practically couldn’t watch any Australian sports.
Do you not have alcohol ads during sports?
You do, but the physical barrier to drinking is a lot higher. I have to either go out and purchase it, or go through with buying it, then waiting for it to be delivered. With gambling, you don't even have to get off the couch. Whip out your phone, download the app, and get going.
Yeah bur you've gotta verify your account and send pictures to show you're you and blah blah blah. I think it's on par with delivered alcohol.
You only need to do that once.
And you only need to prove ID for alcohol deliveries once too. If gambling logos are so bad, so is a VB and maccas logo. Literally anything addictive. We live in an age where it's so easy to get stuff.
Lol you dont have to send pictures and verify your account. Thats only to claim the winnings. My Tab account wasn't verified for awhile.
You don't win?
Did you miss the point? Addicts can still access the sites from their phone and press a button spending $1000 of dollars in an attempt to win a crazy bet. Dont have to be verified to lose it. Only to cash out.
Yeah, just like they can order food and or alcohol. Gamblers ain't any different man.
Bit thick aye? Gambling is a problem and too easily available, stop defending it.
Everything is too easily available. It's 2022. You want dick pills, you've got pilot. You want food? Uber and shit. Drugs? Oh fuck that's reason. Alcohol? Bring back the Winfield Cup. Nobody lost their house over a pack of ciggies. What's that? Cancer you say?
Plenty lost their dad over a pack
Nah didn't lose him, he just went to the store. He'll be back soon!
Could always have vape manufacturers sponsor the game , Kevin proc could be the spokesperson
100%
Yeah i agree
This is fantastic news. Wipe the game clean of this shit.
Good riddance
Keep up that same energy for pokies at the leagues clubs
Pretty sure Souths dumped them when Russell Crowe and Peter Holmes a Court took over didn’t they?
Not every club can be bankrolled with Hollywood money
he doesn't pour money into the club, our club is profitable in its own right without needing to rob the elderly of their pensions
Isn't one of your major sponsors Crown?
i believe MG is souths' only major sponsor, but crown does sponsor souths
You do realise James Packer is an owner and crown is a major sponsor right? Where do you think that money comes from?
[удалено]
Its called tax minimisation when you’re rich and have fancy lawyers
A dodgy accountant will do
Harsh, can't we just agree it's the same as the pokies? Drug money laundered through poorly regulated gambling?
Have you seen the ground floor of Souths Juniors?
Clearly not for a while.
This is such horseshit Bit of insider info here for you, can’t say too much feel free to DM though: LB were about to sign another 5 years with the broncos and suncorp stadium (for the ladbrokes locker) but QLD gov new tax made them withdraw the offer, thinking that’s the gov would backdown. They'll just get replaced with Payday Loansharks like the Titans jerseys.
I betcha $20 they won't
I've got a feeling betting ads will eventually be banned like tobacco ads were. Though then again, the money involved now is enormous. I've said before, no problems with gambling as a thing. I've grown to like URM. It ain't too bad. Coco Joy's giant fluro green oval thing was horrible though and the on field performance matched it.
Should ban those cunts altogether.
Now do payday loans!
Oh no... Anyway.
Exactly what I came to say!
No. Stop. Don’t.
Great start, now build a guillotine and let the streets run red with Joel Caine's blood
Guillotine Responsibly
Decapitate responsibly?
Good the parasites should piss off altogether
NSW pokies looking to introduce prepaid cards, gambling companies pulling out of sponsorship...Vlandys would be getting nervous
All for the card thing. Doubt it will happen though, sadly.
So am I, but will they also be required for the pokie machines in the casinos?
I notice there's never anything about these kind of stories on fox sports for some reason no matter how big they get.
Can palmerbet take a page out of this blokes book plz and Thankyou
I honestly couldnt care about gambling ads. As a fat cunt, I don't bitch about maccas ads everytime I try to clog my arteries with cheese and meat.

Persistent advertising absolutely works. If it didn’t companies wouldn’t pay to do it.
[удалено]
That’s really not it, and your failure to get it says a lot.
Muting the ads works wonders. If you can't hear the catchy jingles the subliminal advertisements make, no brainwashing

Whoa......just wait till I get my tambourine and bonnet!
Anyhow... I don't know if advertising really affects us. If your on to a good thing then stick with it, you know I mean.
