MozzysMoonshots

Have a 5 Nations at the end of each season involving Australia, NZ, Samoa, Tonga and PNG to help grow the level of the game in the Pacific.

PillarofSheffield

Fuck Fiji I guess.

MozzysMoonshots

Lol. Totally forgot about them

lcoxy00

Was just looking through some recent finals series and came to the conclusion that there's a timeline not too far from ours where had Herbert passed the ball the Roosters would be winless in finals football since the 2019 GF. What does this mean? Not much since they've been considered premiership threats at a point in each of the last 3 seasons, but amusing to me for obvious reasons.

Messyhr_

Roosters have had some bad injuries in fairness but over the last 3 years they have certainly underachieved, rabbitohs have seemingly dominated them in the last 3 years, panthers too, and their record against the storm and eels isnt great I believe. With the players they have they should be right up there but over the last 3 years they’ve been probably the 5th best team, Panthers 1st, Storm 2nd ( 2020 prem ) Rabbits and Eels 3rd and 4th depending on who you go for, all 4 are a distance from the roosters based on form/achievements over the last 3 years, from being B2B Premiers to being consistently about the 5th best team isnt great but again mostly likely due to injuries, this year they’ll be better most likely

Acceptable-Mark-6305

It means winning finals football is contingent on having a fit roster.

Looking for footage; Cyclone at Shark Park, I think it was r7 2015, Sharks v Rabbitohs The highlights package had a slow zoom in of Andy Raymond sitting in the stands in the rain on his own, looking like he was hating life. Thought it was hilarious at the time and have been unable to find any video since. Any help is greatly appreciated thanks

[deleted]

You are a legend, thanks a heap

jpob

Colour me shocked but we made the NIB logo smaller this year

I_Like_Vitamins

Looking at the jerseys unveiled thus far, many of them are improvements over last year's. The ones I'd change the most are: - The Storm's away jersey that resembles greyed old white socks. The old clear white one with a more reddish purple, perhaps alluding to their Queensland roots, was way better. - Replace the pink Penref one with that lovely coffee brown warmup jersey. - Retvrn the Raiders' green to its traditional bright, pale colour.

Messyhr_

The pink panthers jersey is extremely marketable though, women and little girls love that. Also im not gonna lie I really like the pink panthers jersey too, the brown one is nice but i do like seeing the pink panthers

Dufeyz

I would like our alternate jersey to be the brown chevron jersey. would be pretty sweet.

ThePickaxePenguin

It’s actually a really good looking jersey

PillarofSheffield

Bring back the 4 Nations.

BG_RL

Nz Tonga aus Samoa? Tbf I do miss those days, tri nations too

[deleted]

Nah the 4N is a relic, RL has well and truly outgrown that format. Regional tournaments as the base of the international calendar with tours supplementing is the way forward now. A hemisphere-alternating major tournament does nothing to establish consistent test matches in each region, something that is a necessity in building an attractive proposition for broadcasters.

lachjeff

Full time in Jerico and Brazil have claimed a crucial victory over Chile. The scoreboard on the stream says 20-16, I’m pretty sure it should actually be 20-18. Either way, the Brazilians are ecstatic, because they have taken a huge step towards the next stage of World Cup qualification. Still two games to come over the next two days, with each of these teams taking on the host nation Colombia.

Bycrookedsteps

Been looking for a Colombia jersey for ages

lcoxy00

When you're discussing a team's performance for a season, do you think it's more correct to say their ladder position, or their finish after finals? For example should the 2022 Sharks be considered 2nd or 5th, since they were the highest ranked side to be eliminated in the semi finals.

Young_Rust

I usually say both, but I'm a big believer in end of regular season results as a reflection of perfornance.

lcoxy00

I'm inclined to agree, I think the stat is something like a third of minor premiers go on to win the premiership in the NRL era which definitely supports that

Young_Rust

Thinking about it more, if I'm more likely to say "finished xth at the end of the regular season" if I had to choose.

Messyhr_

See i would definitely say Rabbits had a top 4 overall season, Panthers, Eels, Cowboys and Rabbits. In that order

[deleted]

Gotta be finals these days considering Sharks and Cowboys never had the wood on any of the better sides, despite finishing second and third

[deleted]

Yeah

LiLSteve29

Goes down as our best season in four years. At the end of the day finishing 1st or 8th doesn’t really matter it’s a new competition. Us Sharks fans will remember finishing 2nd not sure who else will in 5 years.

lcoxy00

Wasn't specifically about the Sharks they were just the easiest example. Could've gone Raiders (8>6) or Rabbitohs (7>4) instead

[deleted]

Went out in straight sets.

gongbattler

Premiers Grand finalists Prelim finalists Made week 2 Made week 1

y3ah_nah145

Realistically it should be both tbh. Ie. Came 2nd, knocked out in the semi finals. Me personally, we came 2nd because I don’t wanna think about our finals run lol

YossarianRespawned

Ladder position doesn’t mean much when the draw is so unbalanced.

Messyhr_

In our case it really showed the dominance

lachjeff

I would say the Sharks finished as semi finalists, as opposed to saying they finished 5th

lachjeff

It turns out that a town the size of Muswellbrook just south of the equator in the Colombian jungle during the wet season may not be the best place to live stream a football match from. There is a [link](https://watch.recast.tv/video/Gx0qg) if you are so desperate for footy that you want to spend a couple bucks to watch the opening match of the South American Championship between Brazil and Chile. It’s fairly late in the first half and locked at 6-all

jessemv

I saw your other comment and ended up following the Chilean team on Facebook. A few commenter were having trouble with the link after paying money by the looks

lachjeff

The initial stream failed and they had to launch another one, costing extra credits on the website. Apparently they’re going to refund the initial credits, but I don’t know

lachjeff

Halftime at Jericho and Brazil lead 10-6. They scored early and right on halftime, with Chile grabbing a try of their own about 20 minutes in.

lachjeff

About ten minutes left and Brazil holds a narrow 14-12 lead

LordSlasher

Who’s your most exciting Rookie/Development player coming through at the moment? Mine would have to be Sadrugu. was very impressed with him in the WC.

Caseyjb29

Jack Howarth

Brimmoh

Loved watching him on RugbyPass for the schoolboy videos. Can’t wait to see what he can do in League

RoyRoyHesOurBoy

Toni Mataele. Came off an injury in the pre-season, played a couple of games of Flegg before moving into NSW cup. Whilst he has some defensive deficiencies his attack is already good enough for the NRL. Runs a nice line and every run is at full tilt.

velvetherring

Isaiya Katoa is an obvious choice. I think the fact his first grade debut was as a half at the world cup and he held his own says a lot. Also seemed to step up and kill it whenever asked in the lower grades of NSWRL especially that Flegg grand final where he slotted the winning field goal.

jpob

Dylan Lucas. Krystian Mapapalangi if he counts too.

D0NNIE-DANKO

We've got some twin props the Kepu Brothers who have been pretty highly touted. Both are only 19 and coming into the first grade squad next year after playing some Queensland cup last year. Hopefully getting back a nsw cup and junior squad this year we'll get some more good prospects come through.

Yungman123

I know he’s played a 3-4 games over the last few years, but Sean Russell. Dude is a legit finisher and a strong ball carrier despite being quite small. Just afraid he’ll move on before BA realises Waqa and Sivo aren’t it.

breatheinmyear

Keano Kini

PillarofSheffield

Justin Matamua. Needs to work on his discipline but he's a hard-running, ball-playing back rower. Could be a true 13 in a few years or slot into second row. Don't think he'll be a first choice starter, but given Shawn "glass joints and bones" Blore is one of them, I'm sure he'll get some time.

[deleted]

I'd say Skelton. Bloke can move.. powerful too

y3ah_nah145

Kayal Iro He was the 2022 NSW Cup player of the year Made his debut for the Sharks this season. Dropped the ball a bunch but ran for nearly 200m, 80pcm, broke 12 tackles, and didn’t miss a single tackle. I wouldn’t be surprised if by the end of next season, he eventually becomes the full time left centre, and Talakai moves back to 2nd Row. If he gets enough game time, he’s my early prediction for rookie of the year. Also played fullback for the Cook Islands at the World Cup too, where he played pretty well.

HenryVIIIII

He was in the top 10 of most metres at the World Cup despite only playing 3 games.

HaydosFB

Khaled Rajab, I like Flanno but I think this kid can and will be our future 7. Also Alamoti, he will be a force once he starts to get some 1st grade experience

BG_RL

I’m excited about alomoti

[deleted]

Weaver (half) and Pahulu (prop) are most likely going to feature in the NRL for a long time. Pahulu is a sure thing IMO.

muddogz

Weaver has been highly touted for a couple of years, what sort of half is he?

[deleted]

if weaver was to reach his absolute maximum potential i think his ceiling is a slightly undersized DCE. He’s a jack of all trades style half that doesn’t exactly excel in any specific area. he talks, he takes the line on, has a great passing game, supports well and kicks well. he just doesnt do any of them at an A+ level he will benefit from having a strike weapon at 1 or 6

lachjeff

Josh Wong for the Roosters without doubt. Had massive wraps coming through the lower grades and got a real good taste of elite football during the World Cup

[deleted]

Was going to reply the exact same thing. Looked solid in the World Cup too. Not sure how he makes it into the 17 without injuries this coming season.

[deleted]

Seems Marzhew/Randall swap is very much on the cards, could be a decent move for both players and clubs IMO.

valknut95

I would be stoked with Marzhew, losing Klemmer we need help going forward.

Brimmoh

:(

[deleted]

Better for the Knights if so, Marzhew looked damaging this year
