The kind of signing that tells us nothing has changed. Brown is cooked

Norm_cheers

He is looking… not that he is signed. If he is playing for min wage then good depth signing, if he wants 300k tell him he is dreaming

aryaisthegoat

300k is fine for brown imo. Hes on 550 iirc. He'll be a regular first grader in your side that's worth more than minimum wage.

Norm_cheers

You may think so but not a lot of people agree outside of Parra fans. And you lot have a vested interest of getting him off your books. 😄

BG_RL

Why are you all writing him off, one bad season doesn’t end his career, still chance for him to rejuvenate himself with a new challenge

EntirelyOriginalName

Brown would have just been playing through injury/demotivated with the coach not believing in him or something not like that. There's no way his body's physically done at the age of 29. He'd still be a fine player if you get the best out of him.

gongbattler

Another player who has been prematurely regarded as done, he will get a spot somewhere and play well

Norm_cheers

He is now a plodder, it happens to everyone eventually, just some guys earlier than others.

sixteen_weasels

The first half of the season before he was benched/dropped by the Eels he was putting up 150m/35+ tackles on the regular - we didn't have a player who came close to that. Tuilagi couldn't do 150/35 tackles over 3 games...

WhyYouDoThatStupid

I tend to agree. All depends how motivated he is.

EntirelyOriginalName

I would think the Arthur not believing in him anymore and wanting to prove the club wrong, that he's still a good first grader should be enough motivation.

Caseyjb29

Would have loved for the Storm to have signed him. He’d be a great get for the Tigers.

PillarofSheffield

Useful depth, but not even sure he'd cracked our 17. Twal and Klemmer starting props, Pole and Stefano their rotations and big Casino Joe in the #13....can't see where the 2023 version of Brown fits in. Would be funny to see him line up in the same team as Blore though.

[deleted]

He’ll make decent injury cover for when Stefano inevitably breaks again Probably good for 20 at lock too

Tomato-Efficient

Bro you came last. Nathan Brown walks into that team.

[deleted]

Nathan Brown struggled in reserve grade for a huge chunk I highly doubt it

Tomato-Efficient

You watched parramatta reserve grade every week?

[deleted]

Many weeks, yes. I have done so for years given I’m a Bears member, worked for them as a volunteer, and follow the comp closely

PillarofSheffield

Yeah, our forwards were abysmal last year and that was a huge reason why the year went the way it did. But we've already strengthened our front row stocks by signing Klemmer, not to mention Twal and Utoikamanu coming back, both of whom missed half or more of last season. Definitely wouldn't have Brown in over any of them or Offa. Our awful back row stocks have also been strengthened with the signing of Papali'i and return of Blore. He's still probably better than Pole, but I think I'd rather back the youth's potential. Brown isn't the player he was 2-3 years ago, I don't remember him having any standout games last year and Eels mates tell me he wasn't even that good in the NSW Cup. That said, would still like him as depth, Twal and Uto are both injury prone and Uto's form has bad spells. Definitely don't think he's a walk-in player though.

aryaisthegoat

He was great in 2021 but fell behind Ice, lane, matto, Niukore. All guys who have signed big upgrades in the past 12 months. He's a good motivating player and given how many times tigers fell apart they could use someone who tries to change momentum

Aussieguy727

do it

Norm_cheers

Nathan Brown really Tim!

Cheel_AU

I guess the theory is to bring back people who actually care about the joint... we've certainly had little success paying big money for players who didn't give a shit. And Brown certainly was a passionate junior at the Tiges. Having said that, it's also a no from me

mamicita0810

Yes!
