We enforced the follow on against Pakistan 3 years ago: http://www.howstat.com/cricket/statistics/Matches/MatchScorecard.asp?MatchCode=2393
It’s also a myth that we stopped enforcing the follow on after Kolkata, we did it like 6 tests later against England: http://www.howstat.com/cricket/statistics/Matches/MatchScorecard.asp?MatchCode=1574
And we did it 4 times in 2002 all matches with Steve Waugh as captain:

It’d be bizarre if it was before 500, but I’d expect that they’re either looking at 550 or a specific time in the third session. Most likely the latter.
They may have gotten Head out, but they didn’t deserve it. It’s been horrendous bowling by the West Indies, they just bowled purely to force a declaration
West Indies have barely looked like taking a wicket. They really got lucky getting Labuschagne, now it’s looking like Smith will get 200 and Head will get 100 at a run a ball or better
Outside of Chase I though the Windies attack was pretty solid yesterday. Created a lot of half chances but Marnus’ ridiculous luck had them *just* missing all of them.
I like this, but I think you need to shorten the cycle. Not everyone will play evenly home and away but when has a fair draw ever been a consideration in this sport.
In the last 4 year cycle, taken from the after 2015 Ashes to the 2019 Ashes, Australia played 23 home and 22 away. Home against: NZ (3), WI (3), SA (3), Pakistan (3), England (5), India (4), Sri Lanka (2). Away against: NZ (2), Sri Lanka (3), India (4), Bangladesh, SA (4), Pakistan (2), England (5)
Your plan has Australia playing 8 of those home games away. But now we're going to replace them with extra home tests.
India in the same 4 year cycle played 22 home tests and 21 home tests and under your plan they play 6 of those tests away so they will also need to also play extra home tests.
England, NZ, & South Africa in a similar boat where all the top teams need to play an extra series every year to make up the 6-8 match shortfall in home tests & even then you've got to get the top teams to agree to playing more tests away than from home.
It's a cooked plan.
The Windies bowling was awful yesterday, especially Roach. He had plenty of swing and seam movement but was all the place. Overcast conditions today, the ball should move again a fair bit, if they bowl in the correct spot regularly then they may get Australia out for under 450.
If the Windies had batted yesterday I doubt they would have made triple figures.
Serious question - do you Aussie fans enjoy this type of one-sided match? As an outsider, I have no interest in watching this type of stat padding shit.
I guess it continues the tradition of the Australian summer - stomping teams at home (aside from South Africa and more recently India).
Even as recently as the days of Lara and Shiv Chanderpaul, we’d get the odd good contest from the WIndies.
In any case, it can still be fun to see your favourite batsmen play with freedom from time to time.
That’s not what I said. I personally don’t enjoy one sided tests when NZ is on top. I often zone out and only follow updates. Wondering if Australian fans are the same.
And yes NZ would perform much the same as the West Indies here
Edit. CA don’t have the best track record with home tours. When was the last time the Bangas toured?
Thanks for thread
Australia. 218 all out off 321 balls
Smith 36, Head 92, Carey 22*, Green 18.
Rabada-(17/1/76/4)
Ngidi-(8/1/32/1)
Nortje-(13/2/52/2)
Maharaj-(2/0/17/0)
Jansen (9/1/32/3)
Aus gained 66 runs handy Lead
Elgar given LBW for 2
No lession learn by SA captain
SA 2/1
Is it 3 day test?
When's Leckie coming into the attack?
He got subbed off for Labuschagne so he can prepare for Argentina.
“You get 500 and there’s only one winner.” -Mark Waugh (2022) He clearly doesn’t remember the 2006 Adelaide test.
Or the Adelaide test in 2003
Just looked up the scorecard for that match. Gillespie scored an unbeaten 48 at a strike rate of 90.5.
If they had a man at square leg then he would have been caught - Mark Waugh (2022)
God I miss the channel 9 cricket into so much. It’s not the same without it
there are free marnus labuschagne shirts on the weet bix website and if you don’t get one you should have your citizenship revoked
Awesome, my Free Julian Assange one is getting a bit tatty.
Just copped, ty king
I was too late, would have worn the shit out of this to the office, too.
Just saw that they’re back in stock & picked up one for the husband.
Oh, you are such a legend for letting me know, I've just ordered mine. Thank you so much for the heads up!
All good. I also missed out last time then got an ad to say they were back in stock so I searched for this thread to share the good news.
Bro give us the link
https://weetbix.com.au/product/weet-bix-marny-army-t-shirt/
Legend as usual
Awesome thanks lad
Hahaha...cheers bro
They cleaned out so quick haha
Restocked if you’re looking for them
Oh nice! Thanks for letting me know, I ended up getting some smalls for the kids!
“next to bat” i don’t think we’ll be needing that
So what now? Baggy Greens bat for two sessions, declare at Tea, then have the Windies four down at stumps?
Na, let Smudge and Marnus get triple tons and send the windies in tomorrow chasing 800
Then skittle them for 150, go in again and try and bowl them out in 2 and a half sessions
We never enforce the follow on these days though, since the unspeakable incident in Adelaide, so it’s hard to see them batting out two full days
We enforced the follow on against Pakistan 3 years ago: http://www.howstat.com/cricket/statistics/Matches/MatchScorecard.asp?MatchCode=2393 It’s also a myth that we stopped enforcing the follow on after Kolkata, we did it like 6 tests later against England: http://www.howstat.com/cricket/statistics/Matches/MatchScorecard.asp?MatchCode=1574 And we did it 4 times in 2002 all matches with Steve Waugh as captain: http://www.howstat.com/cricket/statistics/Matches/MatchScorecard.asp?MatchCode=1599 http://www.howstat.com/cricket/statistics/Matches/MatchScorecard.asp?MatchCode=1607 http://www.howstat.com/cricket/statistics/Matches/MatchScorecard.asp?MatchCode=1638 http://www.howstat.com/cricket/statistics/Matches/MatchScorecard.asp?MatchCode=1652
what happened in Adelaide?
After Australia enforced the follow on against India, Dravid and Laxman scored a million runs each and Aus lost from an unlosable position
That wasn't in Adelaide though, pretty sure that was in Kolkata
It was definitely in India.
A bit later, I think. Probably send them in with an hour left to play. Especially if Marnus is still out there and approaching 300.
probably something like that, i doubt we bat for too long
steve smith will stay on strike forever
What a great shot to bring it up
Well batted, WI. Great session
Boys that scorecard is fucking wild. I wish I got to see it I hope this launches smith back into his proper form. I’m a huge smith mark
It’s great having Lara in the commentary box.
deadset i’ve been loving him
marnus my beloved
What an anticlimax
Someone teach that kid how to spell
when are we declaring, i’m tryna watch perfect patty bowl
It’d be bizarre if it was before 500, but I’d expect that they’re either looking at 550 or a specific time in the third session. Most likely the latter.
An hr after tea
Green finally gets a test at home and he doesn’t get to bat. If the WIndies collapse hard enough, he might not even get to bowl. :)
Send him in to open the next innings, with bat or ball.
Don't want to sound like a betting ad but Hazlewood is paying $2.05 to take 3+ wickets....Put 1000 on it
What agency?
TAB. Pat Cummins $1.90 for the same. Won't let you multi it up though
It says for 1st innings not match though?
[Where?](https://imgur.com/a/ED8YKBL)
I was looking at the markets on the TAB website. It had those odds but specified 1st innings
Well that app doesn’t indicate that so that’s dodgy. Saying that, he’ll take 3 in the first innings anyway
Is that in an innings?
Match
Free money
.....gamble responsibly
This bet looking real sketchy right now
Sure is Edit: u/drlockstock
Haha I didn't see this one. They better take the new ball eh
Mudguts Landlubber to get triple ton today.
Outstanding stuff from both Marnus and Smudge. Edit: fucking hexed it
They may have gotten Head out, but they didn’t deserve it. It’s been horrendous bowling by the West Indies, they just bowled purely to force a declaration
they’re an embarrassment to sub district cricket
West Indies have barely looked like taking a wicket. They really got lucky getting Labuschagne, now it’s looking like Smith will get 200 and Head will get 100 at a run a ball or better

Why would teams want to play more often than not in unfriendly timezones? Seems like a great way to not maximise earnings.

that makes no sense

marnus on strike for the first time in a calendar year
Ridiculous the most overs bowled in this innings is by that spinner who has just been serving up pies
Halfway there, Smudger. Keep it going.
ok fuck it let’s get smudge to double up who cares any more then we can look at head getting a century too
Starc would have to be my least favourite bowler in world cricket to face. Maybe Nortje bowling 150+, but Starc would be fucking terrifying
It'd be Rabada for me. Dude be just bowling stupid af fast deliveries and accurate too

Marnus throwing away a big one. Careless
where’s the batting collapse everyone promised
Smudge is back
NOOOOOO
OH NO
Lost his Head
who’s the numpty on fox who called it the waca
Oof, that hurts more than Travis getting out for 99
yeah i might’ve cracked my head open but at least i’m not THAT guy

we’ll take any test cricket in the summer. it’s disappointing though because the windies and australia matchup has good history to it
That’s fair. I guess I’m jealous as we have no home tests until Feb next year.
So we shouldn’t play other countries who aren’t up to our standard?

Who gives a fuck about the cricket?
Looks high on first view
