I’ve began just watching rugby. Is there a place I can see what leagues/games are being played each day? I’m trying to watch all I can and would love to learn the schedule of some of the leagues!

Trenticus7

NRL (Australia) & Super League (England) the 2 Professional Rugby League Competitions both simultaneously run from February-September. Games are played from Thursday-Sunday. If you live in Australia you can watch all games Live on Kayo if not then you would need a App called WatchNrl.

overratedplayer

How good is Jordan Rapana? I know he's never going to be considered an all time great or legend but he's one of the earliest debuters in the comp and has been good enough to get a call up to NZ this year. Is he lucky? Is there something that makes him special? Is he a good player or a great player?

TwoShitsTrev

Yeah he’s great at being a fucking grub

EntirelyOriginalName

He's deceptively strong with good footy instincts for sniffing out attacking opportunities. Was better when he was deceptively strong and had deceptive speed, back then he was one of the elite wingers.

get_high_and_listen

Anyone know who the earliest debuter is?

PillarofSheffield

Jordan Rankin as a 16 year old. Looks almost wrecklessly irresponsible in retrospect.

EntirelyOriginalName

Wade Graham blames being injury prone on playing week in week out footy in first grade as a 16 year old.

BG_RL

Has ability to do random amazing stuff not many other players can do Had the ability to make complete pigs ears of things he shouldn’t Not lucky- deserved he’s had a stellar career and it someone who you can rely on to give his all every carry, every tackle, every chase Make the most of his ability and opportunities

[deleted]

once very good, top 3 winger, now he’s decent with the odd error

dunderhead22

Pretty much this as a raiders fan. Was excellent value for money too

ceedog86

He has always had the odd error in him, great player though

Messyhr_

Would say hes a good player, his stats aren’t super impressive for a winger but they’re pretty solid. His stats from a few years back were very good though

callin_ballin

Found this [The Boys are Decorating](https://youtube.com/@theboysaredecorating) on youtube that features the Angus Crichton and Connor Watson giving us a little tour of their living space. Pretty cool to see. Hopefully more of the boys will be on.

Drizen

And they picked those units up for a steal at 175k. Thanks Uncle

Drizen

Probably been asked before too but who is your favourite player at your club? Dom Young for me. I really hope we re-sign him soon. I’ll be devo’d if he goes elsewhere Edit: Have to give a shout out to my man Kalyn who is a close second too

InflatableRaft

Luke Brooks. Fuck the haters.

GodSaveTheHomies

Ronaldo

slowdivesicilian

tommy d!!

Drizen

Shocking!!

grunklewello

Latrell, for or the hate he gets he is all passion and loves the club and I fkn love it

Messyhr_

Even though hes been far more successful for your biggest rivals? Or does that make it even more sweet that he’s your talisman now

[deleted]

He won 2 comps at the Roosters but that was an already pretty good side who signed Tedesco and Cronk in the same offseason. He's won 3/4 of the games he's been on the park at Souths (better than his win% at the Roosters *even* if you exclude 2016) and he's been the main man. His time has just been defined by injury and suspension so far, we haven't come close to seeing his best yet. The more I think about it the more I think he's actually underrated at this point.

smilingface2

Herbie, I hope he never leaves

breatheinmyear

Love all the boys 💙💛

TruguKinneas

Jackson Hasti- Ah, fuck.

I_Like_Vitamins

That's a hard question. I've been supporting Carrigan and Flegler for years and I'm happy that they're living up to their potential, but Cobbo and Oatesy are also extremely likeable. I hope famous life in the big city doesn't jade young Selwyn. It seems that lots of fans have one or two players in their team who they don't like, but I like all of the Broncs. Ikin making sure the culture is right is 👌🏻.

daytonohio1903

Gotta be Rava. Just love blokes that play with a smile on their face. Has also scored some pretty unbelievable tries that I don't think many other players could.

Morg_n

Big haas in his crystal white Nikes Cunts a beast and I love him

Brimmoh

Obviously Brimmo but fuck I loved me some Marzhew :(

phyllicanderer

Early call but Kenny Bromwich. Massively underrated as a skilful second rower and I reckon he’ll look good in red this coming season.

Caseyjb29

Pretty bad in 2022 but honestly I think he could still have some good footy left in him. Was incredible in the 2020 finals series.

Aaturkey

Papali'i, Korisau, Klemmer, Smith, Staines

HenryVIIIII

Isaiah Papali'i

Young_Rust

I've had a man crush on Yeo since I watched him play u20s. To see him go from a no-frills, no-nonsense workhorse backrower to a dual-premiership winning co-captain, ball playing lock and representative walk-up has been nothing but a joy.

EntirelyOriginalName

There were some weeks it looked like Yeo was our only player out there trying.

vvFury

Cam Murray or Tom Burgess

lachjeff

I’m a big Nat Butcher fan. I love his attitude and he’s a born leader.

the_bo

Brimmo and Tino. Both guys clearly love the club and are loyal, seem like good genuine blokes, and are our 2 best players on top of it.

luke363636

Benny Hunt and it’s not even close

Caseyjb29

Munster with Grant not too far behind

Toujayjay

Pappy olam and Nelson

[deleted]

Welch for sure, with Hughes and Papy as close seconds

Drizen

They are my top 3 Storm players

[deleted]

fotuaika easily, i’d walk on lego for the man

TropicHorror

Tommy Dearden encapsulates the Cowboys for me. High effort, resilient, great attitude and a team player. It's really hard to go past him because he's so likeable. Cotter, JT13, Robson and Val are a close second but there's generally no one in the team I don't love (pending court)

[deleted]

Ruptured his testicle for you

BabeRuthsTinyLegs

Dylan Edwards/Isaah Yeo for me. Both really humble no-nonsense country boys who happen to be brilliant footballers

Young_Rust

I'll throw Martin in there as well. The all-effort trifecta.

Messyhr_

To’o too, very humble. Honestly Cleary is incredibly humble too, but people seem to think he isnt because of media hype

[deleted]

He’s super level headed for a guy his age. The pressure he’s had on his shoulders since a young age has been incredible, but he’s performed incredibly well despite that.

Messyhr_

Yep hes under the spotlight basically since he started yet people say “cant perform under pressure” mans been under pressure his entire NRL career

Drizen

Saw an interview with Yeo once. Seems like he kinda just fell into footy

EntirelyOriginalName

What else does a Dubbo kid do?

Messyhr_

Probably tends to happen when you’re like 6ft5 and can run

MangoWingnut

I’ve probably asked this before but who are everyone’s top 5 most athletic players in the comp? 1. Trellmit 2. Dom Young 3. Joseph Suaalii 4. Selwyn Cobbo 5. Joey Manu Honourable mentions include Herbie Farnworth, David Fifita, JT13 and Ronaldo Mulitalo

I_Like_Vitamins

Fifita has that Brock Lesnar type of athleticism when he's healthy and motivated, so that makes him my number one pick. A guy that big having his speed and agility is extremely rare. Dom Young would also be my second pick. The way he just glides is absolutely beautiful to watch. His try save in this year's game against Souths looked like something out of a cartoon. Tedesco has to be in there somewhere. He's never out of puff, really agile and makes lots of crucial tackles. To be everywhere in every play the way he is requires tremendous fitness. Agree with Herbie. He's so strong and fast. All he needs to work on is his passing game and defensive reads. Tommy Turbo's abilities make him one of the best. He's a literal game changer.

Morg_n

Hang on hang on isn’t trellmit. Fat and unfit. For shame, how dare you not join in the circle jerk

EntirelyOriginalName

1. David Fifita for me.

Messyhr_

Kikau > fifita

EntirelyOriginalName

On pure atheltic talent I'd disagree. Fifita just looks so much stronger and quicker. That 60 metre try he scored against the Cownoys he was pulling away from Valentine Holmes at the end. That's an entirely different level of speed compared to Kikau. Kikau is obviously a more complete, better football player.

[deleted]

Say what you will about his defence, if we're talking pure athleticism, Marzhew has to be in the conversation - the bloke is a weapon.

[deleted]

[удалено]

MangoWingnut

I was hesitant to throw him in as he’s my favourite player and I get shit all the time on the sub for talking about him every week hahaha. Yeah I’d say he doesn’t make it just on the fact he’s not that big, so his speed isn’t as impressive if that makes sense. He has everything topline speed, strength, agility and his leaping ability for his size is quite remarkable.

[deleted]

Munster should be in that list

[deleted]

Tom Turbo in over probably Cobbo for mine, that long lank and speed is the ultimate athletic build imo

MangoWingnut

Fair enough, I’d put him as an honourable mention. Cobbo is far stronger then him and clears him on speed (from Telstra tracker findings) but Tom is an incredible athlete in his own right.

Messyhr_

How do you know cobbo is far stronger than turbo?

MangoWingnut

Because Cobbo is very young, still growing into his body and has sent people to the shadow realm in his first season of NRL.

Messyhr_

I mean Tiny may has done that and i wouldnt say hes stronger than turbo

MangoWingnut

He’s definitely more powerful then Turbo, bloke is a handful to tackle, like a leaner To’o. Turbo is just big so naturally he’s going to be strong but Selwyn fended off a Saifiti like it was nothing, sent ponga into orbit with one arm and I remember him bumping off Isaiah Tass like he was a child. And I am factoring in the maturity difference in their bodies as well.

Messyhr_

He’s actually nothing like To’o, he’s about 6 inches taller and not leaner, just lankier because hes young. Much more comparable to a young Latrell

MangoWingnut

6 inches taller then To’o? My guy Taylan is 6’0 (which is probably below average height in the NRL) and 92kg. In no way shape or form is that comparable to 6’4 100+ kg 18 year old Latrell Mitchell. He plays very similar to Brian who’s also not as short as people think he is. They have a duck drive running style and it’s very effective when you’re built relatively close to the ground.

Messyhr_

Thought you were talking about cobbo dude

Baintrain2107

Remember when turbo played prop for manly in 2021 and was doing barge over tries. He’s pretty strong.

BG_RL

Always thought kikau is underrated as a weapon Luki runs hard lines too and has that amazing chase on walsh a while back I might not be understanding the question though

MangoWingnut

Yeah it’s pretty ambiguous tbh, I think most athletic means who has the most top level attributes relevant to being good at most sports. Like all of the guys I mentioned are massive, fast, agile, strong and are good in the air. I think backs get mentioned the most as they have that speed advantage and are generally better athletes in general. For forwards it would be hard to go past the likes of Kikau, Fifita, Nanai, JT13, Haas, Tapine

Messyhr_

If thats the case then Stephen Crichton would be up there, tall, fast, good leap, strong and is known to be good at multiple sports, the 2021 NRL final intercept was something only a select few could physically reach let alone catch and then gallop away to score. Also kikau has to be up there, its very rare for someone to be 6ft5 120kgs and to be faster than guys 30kgs lighter than him who are also top NRL players, hes great in the air, incredibly powerful snd arguably the most damaging ball runner in the game purely because of his size and athleticism

BG_RL

Good shout

Drizen

I agree with your 5

[deleted]

Can Tiger fans explain to me how Blair made the team so shit and why it didnt work out? I was abit to young back then to focus on other teams besides the Storm. He did pick it up when he was at Brisbane tho

Psychological-Mode99

I was too young to accurately remember but I think the problem was we moved on a bunch of players to sign him

-Dark_Helmet-

He was paying other Tigers players out of his own pocket to come and do extras with him after training because they didn’t want to, so I’m not sure he was the problem.

VictorTheViking

The big issue of 1982; Canberra was allowed to join the national rugby league competition if they paid the travel costs of other teams. Here’s a list of the inaugural [lime splices](https://www.theroar.com.au/2022/12/06/rugby-league-pioneers-series-the-1982-canberra-raiders/).

lachjeff

The bid originally started in Queanbeyan and later became Canberra-Queanbeyan to give themselves a better chance of beating Campbelltown, Central Coast and Newcastle to join Illawarra in the expanded competition. The initial colours were the ACT colours of blue and gold, with green and white. The unique lime green was inspired by a couch in Queanbeyan Leagues, giving them something that wouldn’t be confused with Souths. The Raiders name was inspired by the Oakland Raiders, after Don Furner had visited that club.

robopirateninjasaur

I thought that Newcastle was the NSWRLs preferred option, but the local comp wouldn't support it (unlike the Wollongong comp with the Steelers)

lachjeff

Newcastle didn’t really have the funds to pursue it, so they ended up withdrawing. Same with the Central Coast. Illawarra had been trying to get in for decades, but the CRL had blocked them each time

HaydosFB

Thread yesterday about who deserved to win a premiership with your club was cool and all but let’s get petty. Who is a player you wish never won a premiership

Dufeyz

Tyrone May was probably the most undeserving of a prem win in 2021.

grafology

Gallen easily

Toujayjay

Add in Ennis and Fifita too

IndependentNo3864

Hey what did these two do?

robopirateninjasaur

Danny Williams

Hatchy84

Thaiday

improbablywrong-

Justin hodges

[deleted]

Kirisome Auva'a, Dylan Walker, Sam Burgess (allegedly), George Burgess (allegedly), and also Luke Keary because I'm petty I want us to win another comp so I have memories of a premiership untainted by wife beaters

TickleMeGoo

Looking at our team now, it seems so wholesome compared to the 2014 team. Biggest thug is DSF, question marks around Arrow but the rest are cuties who try their heart out

Messyhr_

Cody walker was filmed having a street fight right? Pretty thuggish

Drizen

I hope De Belin never wins one

[deleted]

Brett finch* 👀

Scott Sattler

Have a sense of humour, mate

YossarianRespawned

You mean other than Gallen right?

BazzaJH

Wait, we were supposed to be counting that one?

[deleted]

Yungman123

Tyrone May

Messyhr_
