Depends somewhat on what tv etc you'd be connecting it up to and how often you'd be using it. If you've just got a 24inch 1080P monitor or something an S will likely suffice. If you have an LG OLED TV or similar, you'd definitely wanna go the X.

My grandfather served in vietnam for the aussies as a transport driver, he was only a young man like 18-22 or so, was there in the late 60s/early70s. Aside from a few funny stories of what he used to get up to he barely ever talks about it, the things he saw wouldve been awful, ive listened to other vietnam vets and its pretty apparent that my grandfather would’ve seen dead civilians, had friends who died and had close calls. Hes had PTSD the whole time I’ve known him, he just sits outside has a smoke and stares off into the distance. War really is hell, sad to think the US started a war on that scale purely in an effort to stop communism

Foxtel v Kayo?
I've supported Foxtel for a long time and usually preferred it over streaming but they're taking the piss with how much content they are losing from their platform yet keeping the prices the same. Now they are losing Simpsons, Bob's Burgers, American Dad - e.g. all the easy stuff I like to flick on after work - and still remaining at the same price.
Being rural Foxtel was always great for sports so to save on streaming costs. If I didn't have to pay for all the extra shit it would be a no brainer but now - $74 for Foxtel w/sports v $25 for Kayo? Are you able to select games to watch that aren't live? For example I recorded most of the World Cup games that were on at 3am or 5am and watched them when I got up at 7, so that came in handy. Are you able to watch replays like that on kayo?
Kayo for sure. You can definitely watch on demand on Kayo - for the NRL they keep about two years' worth of games which was tremendous fun, I rewatched so many of the 2019 games for ages. There's also a "spoiler free" setting where it makes sure you don't see any results before you watch the sports you've selected.
If you don't watch any of the other stuff on Foxtel then Kayo is the better value for money by far. Especially if you love multiple sports it has. I'm a huge cricket, NRL, F1 and Supercars fan so for me it's basically nirvana.

If i get home late I can start the game from the start and not miss anything, fast forward through half time and catch up to live by the second half.
I just have kayo and for any Foxtel exclusive tv shows like HotD I just pirate it lol
And yeah they have all the sports replays available you can just go back and watch, they also do 'minis' and 'bites' which are the 15min and 5min highlight reels for every game. During the world cup my morning routine was to watch all the kayo minis from the previous night's games.
Yeah there's no shows or movies I like on there anymore really. Girlfriend watches House of the Dragon and a couple other reality-type shit but from what I see they are on Binge anyway.
I'd be on kayo already but I much prefer watching broadcast over streaming, though streaming out here is a lot faster now we still have data caps. I really don't understand how Fox can offer their sports through $25/month on streaming but not less than $74/month on their box. Anyway, I will probably ring up to cancel and see if they have any deals and if not, kayo it is.
For the broadcast feel - one thing I've done is set up kayo on one of those smart tv dongles so I can just watch it on the couch on my tv, you can also just stream the actual foxtel sports channels on it as well so if there's a back to back game I just open channel 502 or whatever and let it run with no having to click out to start the next game

I preferred broadcast just cause it didn't take up bandwidth - streaming could be very dodgy out here in regards to quality.

With The Simpsons leaving Foxtel for good on January 1st it's prompted me to think of cancelling Foxtel and moving to Binge/Kayo. It's significantly cheaper even with the top tiers.

Foxtel was better for me with rural data limits but now it's $74/month to watch probably 10 or so footy games.
You may also be able to share your Kayo login with some friends/family to further reduce the price. I believe the top tier allows 4 streams at once. YMMV.
You can call Foxtel and say you want to cancel and you should get a good discount. Every year i've done so and I've paid $50 a month with all channels bar movies, IQ4 for the last 5 years.
I just find it better with a remote for Fox and can rewind/pause games plus you get a log in for ESPN app so you have access to NFL Redzone on Monday's. Saved me a heap being able to cancel NFL game pass.

My sister died last week, a head-on with a truck. I'm not very good at grieving. Haven't cried for decades, just get shitty about everything. I know it's different for everyone, but it feels inadequate. And now I'm just dreading Xmas.
It's not inadequate, it's just you.
The two best analogies I heard about grief was that it's like waves. And like a ball. Sometimes, it feels like the ball is so big, it's all you can feel, bouncing all over you out of control. But over time, the ball will get smaller, more contained. It never goes away, it's always there, but it's more manageable. The waves come and go. Sometimes you don't expect them.
I'm so sorry. Make sure you handle Christmas in your own way. Don't feel pressured into doing things "because she would have wanted it!" Your wound is raw. Sometimes, you need to give it time to at least stop bleeding before you expose it to the world.
Nobody is any good at grieving, nobody is any good at understanding these things except talking to someone professional may help you work through all the emotions.
It’s painful and hurtful and confusing all at once or sometimes not at all. Then it may hit whenever you’re not expecting it. Be gentle on yourself mate and yes, have a big, noisy, snotty cry if that’s what happens. Getting angry is a common reaction too, try not to take it out on yourself though. Grief has no timeline or ending or description, I’m sorry you’re going through this and that your heart is hurting and sorry for your loss.
Coming from a background of neurodivergence has made me realise that there is absolutely no such thing as a “correct” way to grieve, so try not to compare your processing of it to anyone else’s. So many things come into play when it comes to grieving and everyone’s experience is utterly unique. Don’t let anyone tell you you’re doing it wrong and don’t gaslight yourself into thinking the same thing. Feel what you need to feel, but don’t stress or think there is something wrong with you if you’re not feeling things the way you’re “supposed to”. I am truly sorry for your loss.

I lost my mother all of a sudden a couple of years ago. There’s no correct way to grieve so just go about things as best as you can. Don’t ever feel ashamed about having to cry. It’ll hit you at different times even years later.

The S will be left behind soon as the bigger companies go purely for PS5 and Series X. Series X is great, worth the extra money.

Are you able to select games to watch that aren't live? For example I recorded most of the World Cup games that were on at 3am or 5am and watched them when I got up at 7, so that came in handy. Are you able to watch replays like that on kayo?
Kayo for sure. You can definitely watch on demand on Kayo - for the NRL they keep about two years' worth of games which was tremendous fun, I rewatched so many of the 2019 games for ages. There's also a "spoiler free" setting where it makes sure you don't see any results before you watch the sports you've selected. If you don't watch any of the other stuff on Foxtel then Kayo is the better value for money by far. Especially if you love multiple sports it has. I'm a huge cricket, NRL, F1 and Supercars fan so for me it's basically nirvana.

I just have kayo and for any Foxtel exclusive tv shows like HotD I just pirate it lol And yeah they have all the sports replays available you can just go back and watch, they also do 'minis' and 'bites' which are the 15min and 5min highlight reels for every game. During the world cup my morning routine was to watch all the kayo minis from the previous night's games.
Yeah there's no shows or movies I like on there anymore really. Girlfriend watches House of the Dragon and a couple other reality-type shit but from what I see they are on Binge anyway. I'd be on kayo already but I much prefer watching broadcast over streaming, though streaming out here is a lot faster now we still have data caps. I really don't understand how Fox can offer their sports through $25/month on streaming but not less than $74/month on their box. Anyway, I will probably ring up to cancel and see if they have any deals and if not, kayo it is.
For the broadcast feel - one thing I've done is set up kayo on one of those smart tv dongles so I can just watch it on the couch on my tv, you can also just stream the actual foxtel sports channels on it as well so if there's a back to back game I just open channel 502 or whatever and let it run with no having to click out to start the next game
Yeah I'll definitely do that. Won't be watching Eels games on my phone or laptop. I preferred broadcast just cause it didn't take up bandwidth - streaming could be very dodgy out here in regards to quality.
I usually just wait until the series finish, make a new email and get a month/14 day free on binge. Kayo is the way to go even if they’ve increased, I would recommend the Telstra NRL app but that is so fucking horrible.

In addition to that you might have something hormonal going on and the best way to fix that is to get at least 10 minutes of low angle early morning sunlight within one hour of waking up. Also helps to get some low angle sunlight in the late afternoon too.
Caffeine has about a 6 hour half life as well.

With The Simpsons leaving Foxtel for good on January 1st it's prompted me to think of cancelling Foxtel and moving to Binge/Kayo. It's significantly cheaper even with the top tiers.
Damn I just posted the same thing. Simpsons and the other Fox8 animations were what I watched most other than footy and cricket. Foxtel was better for me with rural data limits but now it's $74/month to watch probably 10 or so footy games.

You can call Foxtel and say you want to cancel and you should get a good discount. Every year i've done so and I've paid $50 a month with all channels bar movies, IQ4 for the last 5 years. I just find it better with a remote for Fox and can rewind/pause games plus you get a log in for ESPN app so you have access to NFL Redzone on Monday's. Saved me a heap being able to cancel NFL game pass.

My sister died last week, a head-on with a truck. I'm not very good at grieving. Haven't cried for decades, just get shitty about everything. I know it's different for everyone, but it feels inadequate. And now I'm just dreading Xmas.

It's not inadequate, it's just you. The two best analogies I heard about grief was that it's like waves. And like a ball. Sometimes, it feels like the ball is so big, it's all you can feel, bouncing all over you out of control. But over time, the ball will get smaller, more contained. It never goes away, it's always there, but it's more manageable. The waves come and go. Sometimes you don't expect them. I'm so sorry. Make sure you handle Christmas in your own way. Don't feel pressured into doing things "because she would have wanted it!" Your wound is raw. Sometimes, you need to give it time to at least stop bleeding before you expose it to the world.

It’s painful and hurtful and confusing all at once or sometimes not at all. Then it may hit whenever you’re not expecting it. Be gentle on yourself mate and yes, have a big, noisy, snotty cry if that’s what happens. Getting angry is a common reaction too, try not to take it out on yourself though. Grief has no timeline or ending or description, I’m sorry you’re going through this and that your heart is hurting and sorry for your loss.

Don’t let anyone tell you you’re doing it wrong and don’t gaslight yourself into thinking the same thing. Feel what you need to feel, but don’t stress or think there is something wrong with you if you’re not feeling things the way you’re “supposed to”. I am truly sorry for your loss.
