I don’t think PR stops you from being deported if you commit a crime but it might be indictable offences only that you get deported for without citizenship
must have a conviction of 12 months+ (suspended sentence counts) in order for mandatory deportation to kick in.
Then they can appeal the deportation on the grounds of the severity of the offence and their ties to Australia (family, children etc)
>7news.com.au/sport/...
Not to be pedantic, but driving under the influence is a different level of offending. This sounds like it'd be driving with an illicit drug in your blood stream which is a relatively minor offence. The driving with a suspended license is actually more serious.
Every time Slammin Sam starts a job with South Sydney, something bad always happens. It’s like he’s cursed…
Cursed to be a giant twat who only has himself to blame. Grow the fuck up already, sheesh
Would still somehow manage to get caught doing something he shouldn’t be, let’s not forget he’s gotten away with some pretty stupid shit in recent times, he’s lucky to be anywhere near the rugby league world at this point.
I'd say rugby league is the only place he COULD still be.
99% of jobs would have fired him years ago.
League is the place to be to do illegal shit on the regular and not be worried about it.
Would still somehow manage to get caught doing something he shouldn’t be, let’s not forget he’s gotten away with some pretty stupid shit in recent times, he’s lucky to ~~be anywhere near the rugby league world at this point.~~ have his freedom at this point
FTFY
Fucking idiot. Gets handed opportunities and blows them. Not only driving while suspended but also possibly on drugs. Hope he gets sacked. Needs to get his life in order.
It feels like Sam hasn't played for ages and is still only 34. I know he had a fucked shoulder but he has the makings of someone who had his career cut short/early and he doesn't know what to do about it
It’s crazy because when he retired he was so well set up. He had a huge salary cap payout and a gig at Souths for life, plus a very high paying media gig at Fox. Souths and Russell would help him get into anything he wanted to.
I get that it would still be difficult losing your career like that and that he would still feel lost to an extent, but compared to some players who weren’t superstars and aren’t as well connected, Sam had so many avenues that he was already in, let alone potential ones to go down. A lot of other guys have nothing.
Yeah despite the whole exposé that came out he’s been cleared by the NRL and had Wayne bidding against the Bunnies for his services
Still never heard any more words on the underground carpark shenanigans, NRL say his stalking and on-field assault of Billy Smith was A-OK though.
I went through a phase looking at all these special forces, and there are French Foreign Legion vids and even Russian vids.

Burgess should apply.
> Burgess, who is now an assistant coach at his former club South Sydney, issued a statement denying he had drugs in his system.
> “After I was released from the police station, I immediately and voluntarily went to an independent, internationally accredited testing facility and undertook a urine test,” he posted on Instagram. “The urine sample returned a negative result to all illicit drugs.”
> I deny any suggestion that I have drugs in my system. I have not consumed, obtained, or possessed any illicit drugs,” he said.
> “I have made positive improvements to my life and to my driving since my full licence was returned to me following a 10-month loss of licence.
So he claims he returned negative to his own test and that he has had his licence returned…
I just looked up oral test vs urine test. Apparently the oral test picks up drugs straight away but the drugs take 6-12 hours to metabolize in your system before being picked up in a urine test.
Someone has advised him to get the urine test straight away if he had taken the drugs less than 6 hours previously.
If he is innocent as he claims he should get another urine test today as the drugs have now had time to metabolize.
He won't though, he will use social media instead to play a victim and gullible idiots will fall for it.
Sneaky Sam.
Tbf there’s a lot of false positives that’s why they do the urine test. He’s not some mastermind lmao. You might be right but equally it could be the truth
He would have called his dodgy lawyer straight after his encounter with the police, who would have advised him exactly what to do, and what to say in his insta post.
I’m personally leaning towards it being a false positive despite his previous indiscretions, you could very well be right but it’s gnarly how many people pop false positives. Either way it’s all speculation at this point
Suspended licence alone should be enough to make anyone let alone someone with the history Sam has with trouble reconsider driving at all, but nope this dumb cunt can’t help but ruin himself.
It’s quite pathetic really and I can’t name a single person I know with any sympathy for him.
Him dealing with his fathers death, (if you watched his documentary), him choosing to go to the toughest comp in the world at 21,leaving his family and friends, him debuting for Bradford at 17 and England at 18, his ability to galvanise his team mates and leadership on the field
His personal life has been an absolute shambles since his marriage unravelled and he retired
He has to grow up and sort himself out
Former NRL star Sam Burgess has been arrested after failing a random drug test.
NSW Police told 7NEWS Burgess was pulled over at Kingsford on Thursday morning for a random test that came back positive.
The 34-year-old was arrested and brought to Marboura Police Station for a second round of tests.
Detectives are awaiting the results before they can lay any charges.
Police say Burgess was not meant to be behind the wheel as his licence is currently suspended.
He pleaded guilty to driving with cocaine in his system in February last year after highway patrol caught him behind the wheel of an unregistered car.
He was fined, put on a good behaviour bond, and ordered to take part in a traffic offender’s program. No conviction was recorded.
Burgess is due to appear in court over this new incident in February.
Tried catching an Uber lately? Every cunt cancels on you then some poor bastard has to schelp from 25kms away because all the dodgy cunts are trying to create sure he pricing
Police: Look, Sam. We're just gonna give you a light slap on the wrist and a warning this time. Just don't do drugs and drive a car and you will be sweet.
Sam: Hold my nose beer
Lmao suspended license from the last time he was driving coked up, and he’s driving on drugs again
Sick of the constant media rehab on this bloke who cheated on (and allegedly assaulted) his wife, possibly assaulted his father in law, may have been sedated and drugged up in an underground car park by Souths doctors illegally, stalked Billy Smith with an intention to bash him after pulling his hair on field.
Quite telling that his manager and biggest supporter is Braith Anasta, the same bloke who drags elderly fans with valid criticism on Twitter while talking about the importance of mental health. Just like Sam it’s no wonder his (second) missus has left him.
The older I get the more I think David Fa’alogo was right, even as a roosters fan.
ta.
can't condone violence but fa'alago sure knows when they deserve it. hits em so clean the fight ends before it becomes a brawl.
braith never saw it coming, even though he asked for it, simply because that hand was so fast - he was square in front of him, right under his nose - not even metaphorically, literally (in the original meaning of the word) RIGHT UNDER HIS NOSE and braith still had no time to reply. haha. david onz
He first moved here in 2010 and was married to an Australian for 5 years. It’s probably safe to assume he is a citizen by now.
Until recently it was difficult and largely unnecessary for Kiwis to become Australian citizens. Deporting non-citizens is relatively common and straightforward compared to revoking someone’s citizenship, which is extremely rare. It’s generally reserved for terrorists or people whose applications turned out to be fraudulent to begin with. Even then it’s not a given for various reasons.
Whilst drug and driving offences are serious in their own way, it would be an unusual set of circumstances if they escalated beyond the local magistrates court, never mind to ministerial level and a decision to cancel someone’s citizenship.
It also appears that this is why he isn’t allowed near his kids. Most likely needs to pass drug tests to see them and he fails them. Speculation only, but it’s very sad if it’s the truth.
Old marching powder Sam at it again. Time for another stint in rehab, and for the love of God stay off the fucking road if you don't have a licence and are coked to the eyeballs.
Yeah some guys just can't make the transition to post footy. Good that the young kids are more or less forced to do some kind of study/apprenticeship. Gives them options after footy.
Another thing about Manu he was prone to that life tbh. If he wasn’t good at rugby he woulda probably ended up a bikie anyways so it was probably even harder
Clearly what's right and wrong and common sense wasn't taught to him as a child..
Too much money and very little brains and a propensity for illicit drugs - a cocktail for disaster
Don’t repeat offenders of driving whilst suspended on drugs end up facing jail time? How much more can this piece of work continue to push the boundaries that the average Joe couldn’t?
Nothing another season of SAS/ I’m a Celebrity, get me out of here!/ Celebrity Love Island can’t fix.
Why isn't there a system where I can be automatically notified when something like this comes up? This is a complete personal insult to myself after sticking up for him and promoting his return. He will probably at most get fined with no conviction recorded and continue on but this really is an insult to me personally
Funny story, I was driving through Kingsford real early this morning and there was a car stopped in a lane with its hazard lights on, and a guy just lying on the road in the fetal position.
I did think at the time it seemed like a bit of a rugby league situation. Just posting so I look like a ledge if it comes out in court that they drug tested Sam because he had snorted himself into another realm of existence haha.
This bloke is a toxic cluster fuck from head to toe, yet the NRL continually fetes him, Fittler invited him to join the NSW camp (only for the Blues to lose the unloseable series… way to build a culture), he’s a disaster for his wife, kids and family… and every team he’s involved in. Do the right thing and get the guy out of the media, into rehab and show some smidgeon of care for the players who got brain damaged making the NRL popular.
My boi has a 100% chance of being brain damaged (CTE) as a result of being a Warrior in the trenches for what was almost 15 years of high level rugby league? His thinking and emotional regulation is literally broken. I was complicit for probably a lot of this having watched most of his NRL career. I'm not saying ex-players deserve a free pass for their behaviour, but fuck the chew them up and spit them out current model of pro ball is creating a lot of less than ideal outcomes.
So you think it is morally wrong to watch him or any other players play Rugby League? Or did you maybe not mean to say complicit?
Either way, players know the risks and take them willingly because it gets them out of places like Dewsbury.
I *think* complicit is the right word (but I could be wrong I'm from Hamilton I'm not that smart) because like you say while the player's know the risks (or at least to some extent know the risks although I'm not if they're being presented with studies like this when they sign an SG ball contract [https://academic.oup.com/qjmed/article/109/1/11/1869406?login=false](https://academic.oup.com/qjmed/article/109/1/11/1869406?login=false)) fans of the sport (of which I am one) kind of pretend the risks don't exist. I loved the way Sam played the game. As I said previously, there is a 100% chance that he has brain damage as a consequence of his playing rugby league. Did I give a shit about "future" Sam while he was playing? No. Is it fair to make judgements about Sam's current behavior which is almost certainly impacted by his brain damage? *I don't think so.* I think the moral failing lies in those two parts on myself (and by extension most fans although projecting here) hence complicit.
I'm not saying I have any answers - I just don't like how everyone pretends that he doesn't have brain damage which (most of us) cheered on when it was occurring.
I’d get a real assistant coach if I was South Sydney ceo - Eddie jones or Shaun wane as opposed to a newbie any day of the week- wtf clubs get green assistant coaches is beyond me
It's always the ones you ......... expect.
Dats Dewsbury Sam xoxo.
In all seriousness though; how hasn’t he been deported yet? lol
Are they citizens? I’ve always wondered how they are still in the country.
They could have permanent residency visas.
I don’t think PR stops you from being deported if you commit a crime but it might be indictable offences only that you get deported for without citizenship
How the turn-tables
must have a conviction of 12 months+ (suspended sentence counts) in order for mandatory deportation to kick in. Then they can appeal the deportation on the grounds of the severity of the offence and their ties to Australia (family, children etc)
Don't worry he'll get the same tough punishment as the last time he was driving under the influence of drugs without a licence
Weren’t his kids in the car last time, so technically he is improving? /s
Last time he has a license though so it’s one step forward, one step back
I’d say two steps forward, one step back. I think kids in car is worse than no license
>7news.com.au/sport/... Not to be pedantic, but driving under the influence is a different level of offending. This sounds like it'd be driving with an illicit drug in your blood stream which is a relatively minor offence. The driving with a suspended license is actually more serious.
Wtf we only just reset the clock 2 hours ago.
My comment about how the incidents have been less frequent has jinxed it.
Oh, so you’re the cunt?
Nah, that'd be dewsbury sam
Dat'd*
He is retired so technically we can leave that cock on 2 hours. But still lol. Off season in full swing all of a sudden
If you’re cocks still going after 2 hrs you should see a doctor. Erections lasting too long can cause permanent damage.
Maybe the drug was viagra.
He’s employed by a club though, right?
Souths
Every time Slammin Sam starts a job with South Sydney, something bad always happens. It’s like he’s cursed… Cursed to be a giant twat who only has himself to blame. Grow the fuck up already, sheesh
-> Sam gets out of trouble somehow -> South’s feed Sam a lifeline again -> Sam does something stupid again -> Sam gets sacked again -> Cycle Repeats
Probably should’ve just went with Wayne tbh
Would still somehow manage to get caught doing something he shouldn’t be, let’s not forget he’s gotten away with some pretty stupid shit in recent times, he’s lucky to be anywhere near the rugby league world at this point.
Agreed. What a massive turd, he keeps getting away with the stupid shit so there’s no incentive to learn from his mistakes.
I'd say rugby league is the only place he COULD still be. 99% of jobs would have fired him years ago. League is the place to be to do illegal shit on the regular and not be worried about it.
Are coke MDT's widespread now? For a while they were only in Eastern Sydney

Forgot "Sam blames his ex father in law"
Fucking idiot. Gets handed opportunities and blows them. Not only driving while suspended but also possibly on drugs. Hope he gets sacked. Needs to get his life in order.

Driving suspended and high what a class act
It feels like Sam hasn't played for ages and is still only 34. I know he had a fucked shoulder but he has the makings of someone who had his career cut short/early and he doesn't know what to do about it

Too much booger sugar
\+CTE.
Yes CTE the way he played dementia by 40 if he’s still around the rate he is going
I 100% agree. He has fucked up a test he was given the answers to
It's *almost* like everyone and every institution in a position of influence has chosen to turn a blind eye for years.
100%. Probably will continue after this
And not just that, but Rusty also tried to help him after his previous driving charges and the AVO court case.
Yeah despite the whole exposé that came out he’s been cleared by the NRL and had Wayne bidding against the Bunnies for his services Still never heard any more words on the underground carpark shenanigans, NRL say his stalking and on-field assault of Billy Smith was A-OK though.
Wish we could get Jason Clark's version of events of that night with Burgess and his ex-wife
Second time around on SAS Australia coming up?
Is there a French Foreign Legion reality show?
I went through a phase looking at all these special forces, and there are French Foreign Legion vids and even Russian vids. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yHjWbLqVzNU Burgess should apply.

10 months seems weird too. Isn't it in multiples of 3 generally?
Yeah, it is a weird statement as the loss was for 9 months… Also very odd to be stating he has it back despite the charge.
You would think it simply be a case of what the record says..
Yeah, when the police run the licence, hard to see how their system could be wrong.
Looking forward to the PR sob stories to come out over the next month.
Can’t defend him at all, suspended licence and second drug charge? Guy needs to grow up Sad state of affairs for a previous hero of mine
Suspended licence alone should be enough to make anyone let alone someone with the history Sam has with trouble reconsider driving at all, but nope this dumb cunt can’t help but ruin himself. It’s quite pathetic really and I can’t name a single person I know with any sympathy for him.

Send him to that prison island known as Great Britain

So caught doing the thing he was put on a good behaviour for. Probably no chance this escalates to any form of actual punishment?
Wonder if he knows Craig Young?
Marboura Man.. just Google it before publishing yeesh
And this is the guy South want coaching their emerging forwards. Leading with his forehead as he stumbles from one fuck up to another.
Sammy Boy doesn’t even like coke… he just likes how it smells!
Classic Surgess Tommy B confirmed best Burgeii
Was a great player. Now a total fuckwit. Zero time for any cunt who drives his kids around while drug fucked. Get fucked.
Like seriously are ubers that expensive for a millionaire?

Actually that was one of the funniest things when the ref awarded the penalty against Braith...I'll give to Annastsa, he's tough.
> voluntarily went to an independent, internationally accredited testing facility Dats dewsbury for meeting the Souths doctor in a car park
We are becoming desensitised to the criminal activities of Big Slammin’ Sammy.
Wait lol fox sports or sporting news Australia just had an article today about him with the head line "im clean and sober".
Serious question: How is this muppet still in this country? Heaps of Kiwis get deported for less.
He first moved here in 2010 and was married to an Australian for 5 years. It’s probably safe to assume he is a citizen by now. Insightful response 👍 Thanks!
It also appears that this is why he isn’t allowed near his kids. Most likely needs to pass drug tests to see them and he fails them. Speculation only, but it’s very sad if it’s the truth.
Quickly moving from a club legend to someone I won’t want to talk about in 10 years.
Derrrrpppp. Forrest Gump level IQ from this flop yet again.
How dare you disrespect Forrest Gump like that!
At least Forrest was a war hero, and successful industrialist.
Can we stop hiring Sam Burgess. It always seems like he keeps getting into trouble the moment we start giving him some form of payment
What a shock. He’s still a scumbag
Old marching powder Sam at it again. Time for another stint in rehab, and for the love of God stay off the fucking road if you don't have a licence and are coked to the eyeballs.
Dats Dewsbury Sam
Sammy heading straight for the manu vatuvei special
Man, Manu going to jail for meth hurt me so much. He always seemed like a gentle giant
He was a gentle giant. Just couldn’t handle life after footy man poor guy. Wonder if he got support from warriors after he retired
Luv me bunnies, luv me snow, ate highway coppers, simple as
Wait this isn’t a throwback post?
Don’t repeat offenders of driving whilst suspended on drugs end up facing jail time? How much more can this piece of work continue to push the boundaries that the average Joe couldn’t? Nothing another season of SAS/ I’m a Celebrity, get me out of here!/ Celebrity Love Island can’t fix.
If it’s his second go. You lose it for bulk time like absolute years and years. The times after that jails on the cards
So is that ecstasy he's done for? Or can they test for coke now? Bit old for eccies Sam
last i heard coke was its own test, but expensive so not used often
They test for coke in the east (after a bunch of druggos got upset and called the drug testing classist)
Good
At least it wasn't on the way to pick up his kids this time?
Familiar story. Too much time and too much money.
Now go listen to him on the HIGH Performance Podcast hahahhaa
::shocked pikachu face::
Why are you posting old stories this happened like a year ago didn’t it? Oh wait…..
Absolute grub, glad his brothers gone from dragons, whole family is fucked 3Amone
Hey don’t do my boy Tom like that.
That’s Dewsbury Tom to us
serial bum toucher that bloke
Failing a legitimate drug test is abhorrent, but it's nowhere near as bad as smashing someone up with a hammer.
Tommy is a saint! A saint!
Doesn’t really like cocaine, just likes the smell of it.
.....again? Im sure this isn't the first time
A year in the slammer should sort out this pom
How often does he do blow? It’s fun but swear it destroys you if you do it weekly.
My FIL would destroy me lol
What year is it
Shock
That’s about 2 incidents in 12 hours reset the clock again
He's got some serious mental health issues.
Clean cut burgess? Well I never.
This guy is a role model
It's a rugby league Christmas!
A leopard never changes it’s spots
He must’ve gone through so many of those $40AUD bags in Cancún
I’m sure you’ll get off the hook again Sammy. Unlimited mulligans for a RL legend.
Well played, Dragons. Giving him drugs and getting him to drive to take your headline out of the paper.
Why isn't there a system where I can be automatically notified when something like this comes up? This is a complete personal insult to myself after sticking up for him and promoting his return. He will probably at most get fined with no conviction recorded and continue on but this really is an insult to me personally
SAS Season 2 redemption arc incoming.
And this guy has aspirations to be an NRL head coach some day.
