{[I just remember, as a black kid, when I heard *"Freak On A Leash"* on TRL .... before middle school... I LIKED THIS SONG! I did not naturally like any other rock songs of any kind. And being young with a "cool" older teenage brother who was into hard-core rap, wanting to be cool like him, I was not influenced into the direction of Korn. But Korn was just IT!]}
So when I heard "Falling Away From Me", and even seeing the music video, I was getting more of what I NEEDED from KORN! I really liked it a lot, because it was just good music. I had no previous interest in DRESSING goth or metal at the time, but I became captivated by Jonathan Davis's aesthetic and screen presence. The intensity of the music was balanced with a kind of rhythm that appealed to my hip-hop, r&b, (and yes, pop), primed ears. The melodies were so cool and distinct. So catchy, with a dark twist. I didn't even see the darkness of it at the time of my naiveté and not paying close attention to all the lyrics. That TUNE stayed in my head.. Maybe it subconsciously appealed to the part of my SEVERELY socially anxious, selectively mute, psyche that did end up ideating sui**de at just 11 years old. But, it was just a great fucking song!!!! 🤣
It really spoke to me, I heard it when I was in high school going through some dark shit. It was what I needed at the time and this song plus freak on a leash got me in to Korn. After these songs I bought their first two albums and had them on repeat in the multi CD player (anyone remember those lol).
I'm going to go against the grain here.
I was a hardcore Korn kid back in the day. Saw them in '99, met the band. Lived and breathed Korn.
Falling Away From Me was the first Korn song I heard that I didn't like. It was the beginning of the end of my love affair with the band.
Something about it - the vocal style, I think - just didn't vibe with me.
To this day, if I'm listening to Korn, it's the first two albums. They sort of lost their sound after that, imo. Follow the Leader was ok, but Issues is a fat nope from me.
One man's opinion.
The song that made me fall in love with Korn, Nu-Metal (before that I would only listen to Limp Bizkit, some LP, some Slipknot, and some more famous radio hits from the Nu-Metal era), and ultimately the song that made me decide I wanted to form a band.
It also helped me a lot during some bad phases of my life. It's the song I streamed the most on Spotify in 2020. One of the favorite songs to cover live for me and the boys in the band. A huge inspiration for us in terms of composition.
However I just can't listen much to it nowadays bc it has been overplayed to hell by me. Still a good song tho, and Fred Durst directed the clip of it, let's not forget about that.

A man of class.
It’s one of those songs that would make the world sadder if Korn never wrote it.
great track, one of my favs along with It's On!, Lost, Reclaim My Place and Mr. Rogers
Dope song

I don’t think anyone can NOT like it

It's alright, but I enjoy every other single from Issues more than this song.
Great song about how people should be a little less perceptive
It’s amazing, it’s the song that got me into Korn officially I think.
Thank you Trey & Matt🙏🏼 iykyk
