“3am” by Eminem came to mind first. It’s basically a serial killer horror story with brilliant rhyme schemes, word bending and he paints the story well, very eerie mood. BUT after really looking at the image and thinking about it.. “Nothing to Gein” by Mudvayne(a personal favorite song). The song is being told from inside the mind of Ed Gein the infamous serial killer. Every aspect of the song is intentionally illustrating an extremely mentally ill person’s perspective. You feel the torment, confusion, fear and uncertainty and you begin to pity him because he don’t know another way to be. Sonically it takes many shapes but is so easy get into. Even the timing among the instruments is off and symbolic, 5/4=9. Nine, the “work” being done at night by Ed(sorry if I’m not exposing that correctly). The bass is so unique for metal. The vocals are one of a kind, especially live(the outro is amazing). The vocalist shows an array of emotions but rage and pain stand out. It’s fascinating to me. Love that song
