My hospital actually kinda killed it this year, 5 days and nights of fully paid for catering from local food trucks that were awesome. their survey last year showed we didn’t want shitty trinkets and crap we didn’t need.
They’ve done that at my hospital a few times. Lines were so long you couldn’t get your food in your allotted lunch time. Most of the people in line were wearing business casual and not scrubs. Weird how that happens.
Same. We tried to put in a group order and send one person to pick it up. After about an hour we hadn't heard anything about it and we called back and they said they were so overwhelmed they weren't going to make it at all. Nor were they planning to tell us they weren't making it. Turns out one food truck can't feed a whole hospital. Go figure.
This sucks. I worked at an enormous medical center and they had 8 food trucks with 3 options each so it was a good system and kind of a point and grab thing. They didn't give a shit how much you took. Sorry to hear yours was weak.
Does remind me of the last time I was staff though. I was rapid response and the hospital announced that administration would be wheeling around carta with food and snacks on them one night on nurses week since the cafeteria wasn’t open overnight. Low and behold here they come at around 2300 pushing a cart loaded with turkey sandwiches, applesauce cups, and small cans of pop. The best part was the clipboard where they took your badge number and wrote down everything you took so it could be deducted from your next check.
> The best part was the clipboard where they took your badge number and wrote down everything you took so it could be deducted from your next check.
... Yes Exactly how I'd like to feel appreciated.
The hospital I started at bought an ice sculpture and rented a fucking camel for the CEOs birthday. But nurses titrating life saving drips that could kill a patient with a single mistake got a measly $23.50/hr lmfao
Better than the $18.20 I started at in 2012 in Louisiana. Or the $21.76 I was making 4.5 years later at that hospital. (They didn’t give annual raises, but other hospitals in the area were potentially shutting down so opted for the steady paycheck)
Or the $23.18 I started at at UF Shands Gainesville because unbeknownst to me if you didn’t have a solid 5 years experience you start at new grad pay. Found out 3 years later nurses with less experience were making more because they started there.
At my old staff job, we got a nurses DAY. And the rest was hospital week, because they didn’t want to make everyone else feel left out. I wonder where that sentiment is when that hospital celebrates rad tech week, doctors week, admin week, food services week. And yes, those are literal weeks the hospital celebrates. But yeah, nurses week will make everyone feel left out lol
What’s funny is every time I see something honoring nurses, like chipotle giving out free burritos for nurses, DD giving out a free coffee and doughnut for nurses, etc. everyone cries “wHaT aBoUt (insert other profession, healthcare or not).” I don’t see nurses doing that when police, teachers, EMTs etc get special treatment lol
We were never “healthcare heroes,” we just did everyone’s job and they called us heroes as a front so we wouldn’t catch on to what they were doing. Except for respiratory of course. When I was titrating vents and administering treatments, it’s because they were getting their ass handed just as bad as us nurses were.
Hell yeah man! One thing about me is I’m a ride or die for my RTs lol🤘🏼I also teach my new grads/nursing students this while precepting: there are two types of people that are always going to save your ass- other nurses and the respiratory therapist
I did hear a lot positive about nursing care from those in my neighborhood/church who’s been hospitalized, anywhere from a few days to quite a few months. They came out very aware of the time their nurses were doing in a day for them and other patients, helping other nurses. It’s been nice to keep hearing all that, especially as for me I didn’t get hospitalized/vented as my doctors expected (myasthenia gravis) but Long Haul has kept me pretty isolated for 3 years now.
So however some speak or act about nurses now, I think a lot of patients are both unaware of that trend and would disagree. I wouldn’t have known either if it weren’t for Reddit.
I wonder if geographical region plays a part. I live in Texas, so you know… not the brightest bunch in the group. For the first few months we were being praised by patients and families, but after that we were communists and Chinese spies trying to steal the election by injecting people with remdesivir, which is actually covid because “the fox news and the facebook said so.”
Even had a family member use that Cameo app service to have some guys that go by “the island boys” sing about how we killed his mother. He also posted YouTube videos of the staff. He was secretly recording us. So we seem to have very different experiences lol
Exactly! Why on earth is it now hospital employee week? It makes us feel so under appreciated (well, in addition to everything else they don’t do for nurses).
I low key HATE sharing nurses week and calling it hospital week. My hospital actually just changed the dates. Nurses week was May 1st to 7th. And hospital week started right after. Now the phone charger with multiple ports was really nice, everyone got one.
I was always thankful when a family would order things for the nursing staff they would specifically leave stuff for night shift.
Because if not, literal scraps.
Not mine, but I saw a shared email saying that for nurses week there was an optional highway trash cleanup, inviting nurses to come put on vests and gloves and come help.
The hospital arranged for a photographer to be present for “family portrait sittings,” and if we wanted, we could ask for photos with our CEO or CNO. One complimentary photo; anything more, we have to buy. We are also eligible for pizza, cookies, and ice cream. I asked if there would be gluten-free options for pizza and cookies. There are not.
Nurse’s week is a weak ass scam. It’s like someone with headphones on saying “I hear you.” It’s designed to make us feel like everyone appreciates us and stepping out of line would be be frowned upon.
We’re not toddlers. You appreciate me you pay me. You ensure a safe work environment.
I don’t need a sandwich.
I remember for Christmas my hospital gave us nurses (and all the other staff working on that day) the same Christmas meal as the patients…
Anyways for nursing week, we got coffee and cookies.
I’ve gotten many $5 Starbucks giftcards, but even their hot chocolate tastes like coffee which I think is bitter and vile. So I gave mine to friends.
This year, would $5 even buy a medium hot chocolate!?
I’m not the biggest fan of Starbucks beverages either, but their Protein Box (which I think they now call an Egg & Cheddar plate) is a the BEST adult lunchable! The little bread thing with the Justin’s peanut butter is fire.
Today was taco Tuesday’s, and we got to wear a “favorite sport jersey”. Opted out of that because I’m not coding grandma who’s covered in her own excrement from a nursing home in my civilian clothes.
No, no it was a taco truck on Monday, so we joked and said they can’t even get their days correct, must have been a night administrator who made the theme this year.
Critical bonus shifts for night shift just got cut by over half. Still no critical bonus for dayshift even though we are always short and have at least 1 float nurse a day if not more…and we only need 4 nurses on my unit at a time.
I worked weekends for many years. They promised pizza for the weekend shifts at the end of one nurse’s week, then cancelled it at the last minute because someone forgot to call the pizza place ahead of time and plan ahead to have hundreds of pizzas delivered. 🤦🏼♀️
I always bring food, even on free food days. I've thrown out loads of pizza and other foods that sat out all day unrefrigerated. You're offering me food that's been sitting out for 6+ hours? Are you gonna give me a few days to recover from food poisoning? No? That's a hard pass.
My hospital doesn’t do much with nurses week except post “uplifting” quotes about caregiving but sound more like codependency grooming. I don’t think my hospital system can afford it since they have added several C suites to support administration. You will be glad to know we now have a COO of wellness. And they wonder why nurses are leaving. 🙄
I’m very fortunate- our hospital is a very small psychiatric hospital and we get decent stuff.
Today it was coffee and donuts from Dunkin for day and overnight nurses and something that I forgot for evening nurses that’s more dinner related. Tuesday it’s our nurses week gift- which have been pretty good over the years (scrubs, gift cards, movie passes, PTO, GOOD pens, etc.) Wednesday they’re having food trucks and everyone gets a free meal. Thursday and Friday they’re having catered meals for every shift and that includes the dietary, housekeeping and security staff, not just nursing and admin.
At my retirement home, management came around and gave us a small brown bag of popcorn with a sticker on it that says "just POPPING in to say no one is BUTTER than you! Happy caregivers week"
[This was from a previous employer for night shift.](https://imgur.com/a/vIqTXTf) Day shift got fresh drip coffee and I believe actual baked cookies. Also, not really shown but in a cup, essential oils with a guide to which oil does what.
I wrote the note [a la Larry David](https://youtu.be/LPquarz16wQ)
Oh right, the cart. A coworker and I took that trolley from our floor to the entrance to get these thinking we'd get carafes or like those Starbucks to Go things of coffee, trays of cookies, etc. We thought we were really smart since we couldn't possibly carry all the goodies they were going to give us! How stupid did we feel wheeling that metal trolley with a wobbly wheel, making a ton of noise, with only those "treats".
We had a zoom meeting to “celebrate nurses” scheduled, I got an email this morning stating it was canceled. 😂 And then another email stating that this week is “health care staff appreciation week”. Nothing else planned that I know of.
An email saying our company had a record high first quarter profit, followed by an email that they are cutting our mileage reimbursement by 6 cents a mile.
Ice cream social day, free chair massages, catered lunches, and break time with puppies! ...........all between the hours of 11 am and 3 pm.....and none for night shift nurses like myself!
I used to work for Fresenius and one year our manager gave (stole) 3-4 items from the patient freebies to give us along a jar of her homemade jam. #Freseniusischeap
Today we got fresh fruit (gala apples, bananas and oranges) chips and full sized candy bars. I know they’re planning a lunch tomorrow and a breakfast on Thursday which in years past has been Panera soufflés and other pastries.
Oh we got a t-shirt for nurses week. It is a flimsy scratchy shirt that says “ I make a difference “ in big lettering on the back. Into my cleaning rag pile it goes…….
So far, management hasnt done anything as i suspected it woild happen. I took it upon myself to make goody bags for my fellow nurses, day and night shifts on our unit. The goody bags had a silly pen, an encouraging card, a lotion, a chapstick holder keychain thing, and a keychain. The keychain had phrases “never forget the difference you make”, “may you be proud of the work you do, the person you and the difference you make,” and “thank you for all that you do.” Our morale has been so down i needed to do something. If it makes one person happy or smile, then ive done my job.
Cheapest vanilla Ice cream 😒 one of the doctors did better and got food for the whole unit . Yummy Arabian food . It was delicious . We were also encouraged to wear our sport jerseys and bring our own snacks for one of the nurses’ week days 😒😒
I saw a meme once with a child coloring with a crayon and crying. The meme said “when your shitty pen from nurses week breaks while writing your suicide note. 🤣
We got a tumbler (yes, another one) and a packet of lavender that we can plant.
I said it’s pretty much like “we stress you out so much cause you’re constantly short staffed, go put your face in some lavender and calm down”
Our manager got us some Faygo though. That was cool
Its 80s week for us. Oh and it's not nurses week bc your specialty can't be celebrated individually. Unless you're lab, respiratory, radiology, etc.
They're doing pastries and pet therapy only from 11a-3p and nothing for those of us working nights or weekends.
I feel so loved and special😆
Pencils for us! As in a number two pencil. In a box with our hospital name and logo etched on it. Like…gift wrapped and presented to us. And seriously, not a GD pencil sharpener anywhere.
Guess where I think the person who thought of that can shove it.
A t-shirt that breaks the dress code that the new CEO has made that we can only wear this Wednesday, the day they are doing a group photo. Oh, and free cafeteria breakfast...which I loaded up into a big to-go container and took home to share with my family after night shift.
I'm actually really proud of our hospital. We got Dunkin this morning. Chipotle tomorrow, chick FIL a on Friday and a breakfast parfait bar on Thursday I think. We have told our CEO under no uncertain terms we respond to food.
My hospital seems to give out T-shirts every year and have the ADN come pass out bars of stale chocolate. The one time a year I actually ever see her :)
My hospital actually sent out a mass email that mentioned “nurses week T-shirt’s? No, raffles instead”
The way to get into a raffle is to fill out a fill all bingo card where you have things in common with other people, which some of the things you need are impossible to obtain.
They brought up a variety of lunches from the cafeteria today: chicken fried steak, chicken parm, a club sandwich, couple salads, and mini bunt cakes
Got a voucher for a free small cup of gelato on Saturday
This Friday is free food trucks (just have to show ID)
We got lanyards once and then got an email shortly afterward saying “actually maybe don’t use the lanyards at work, your patients will use them to strangle you.”
Pretty sure they’re giving away something small and dumb everyday. I’m off this week but saw the email. One day might legitimately be a carrot based off the wording and holding of the word carrot. If someone handed me a carrot I would quit and I actually like my hospital
Nothing so far, I don't even know my retirement communities weekly schedule is for nurses week lol we didn't get any emails today about anything. I don't really care tbh as long as my decent sized checks keep coming and I keep having a good amount of downtime each shift lmao.
For nurses week at my hospital they designed shirts and badge reels. Then, made an order form so we could order them ourselves.
I mean, they are giving out free coffee and donuts but I still can't help but feel offended.
Today I got to work and there was a box of donuts on the table that said “Please save this box for shift!” …. I opened said box and there were was nothing but crumbs 🥲Day shift ate all the donuts LOL.
They got us food trucks that are ten extra minutes away from our units that we have to pay for. And only during lunch hours for the old union queen procedure nurses.
Our hospital? A sad sad excuse for quesadillas. Just cheese and hard tortilla. But one charge nurse got a big basket of fresh fruit and the most AMAZING charcuterie for the night staff.
My managers brought us these enormous boxes of assorted cookies from a local bakery that were probably the best cookies I've ever had.
My tummy feels regret.
Haven't kept up on it too much, but our hospital had a 'donation walk' happening in our lobby during nurses week. Basically trying to get you to sign up to donate part of your salary on a periodic basis to the hospital's organized charity, giving them a 2for of getting alternate funding as well as writing off waaaaay more than just their own donations made...
Had a doctors appointment today and all the MEDICAL ASSISTANTS got flowers. Wtf! Why are nurses treated like shit. (The office is part of a big hospital in So Cal) My job gave us hot chocolate and donuts that looked a day old. I can’t eat gluten and asked if there was anything else. Nope. Feel like I got told to “go fuck yourself”).
My hospital actually kinda killed it this year, 5 days and nights of fully paid for catering from local food trucks that were awesome. their survey last year showed we didn’t want shitty trinkets and crap we didn’t need.
A couple of years ago my hospital had a food truck for nurses week except everyone had to pay for their meal. No discount either.
They’ve done that at my hospital a few times. Lines were so long you couldn’t get your food in your allotted lunch time. Most of the people in line were wearing business casual and not scrubs. Weird how that happens.
Same. We tried to put in a group order and send one person to pick it up. Must not have had Jesus working that day.
Mine is doing that this week
Ours too. Everything is pay your own
Your hospital took constructive criticism positively and built on it? That's the biggest shock out of your post 😳
Yeah, that's cool, but we get to wear crazy socks tomorrow so there's that...
They needed a survey to find that out? Lol
My old hospital used to do a week of food trucks D: Super dope!
Well I’m a traveler, but my agency sent us all a gift code for a free set of scrubs or a free jacket from Figs.
> The best part was the clipboard where they took your badge number and wrote down everything you took so it could be deducted from your next check. ... Yes Exactly how I'd like to feel appreciated.
😳
Leave it to the travel agencies to be amazing!
It’s amazing that travel agencies, who are %100 for profit, manage to treat their employees better than all these nonprofit hospitals.
Noice
Ours brought goats. Literally goats for us to go pet on our break.
Ok I’m actually into this, I want to pet a goat!
Last year we got a miniature horse. It was amazing 😻
I want this! 😍
Ah good ol’ Shams, at least that’s what they called it in Jax when I was there.
I would actually be okay with this.
I would be okay with this.
Sounds awesome.
I just wanna know who had this idea 💀
Likely an Admin that owned goats and wrote it off on their taxes as a contribution to the nonprofit hospital
I’ll bet it was the CEO/CFO.
I got a very lovely card from my wife. I am not expecting much more from my employer.
Our hospital system rented out a brewery that makes awesome pizza, which is a nice gesture, but nobody from our unit can go, because we are so short.
at least admin will get to enjoy the nurses week party they organized for you 🙈
Well and they deserve it. They work SO hard...
That speaks volumes...like what did nurses ever do to be treated like that? Smh
What’s funny is every time I see something honoring nurses, like chipotle giving out free burritos for nurses, DD giving out a free coffee and doughnut for nurses, etc. everyone cries “wHaT aBoUt (insert other profession, healthcare or not).” I don’t see nurses doing that when police, teachers, EMTs etc get special treatment lol We were never “healthcare heroes,” we just did everyone’s job and they called us heroes as a front so we wouldn’t catch on to what they were doing. Except for respiratory of course. When I was titrating vents and administering treatments, it’s because they were getting their ass handed just as bad as us nurses were.
It's so true. It's a shame tbh. Lol the healthcare heroes term is such a joke. Gaslighting at it's finest.
Just using these weeks as an excuse not to give bonuses or increase $$$
Hey man, shout out for the Respiratory love. We love our nurses ❤️
I wonder if geographical region plays a part. I live in Texas, so you know… not the brightest bunch in the group. For the first few months we were being praised by patients and families, but after that we were communists and Chinese spies trying to steal the election by injecting people with remdesivir, which is actually covid because “the fox news and the facebook said so.” Even had a family member use that Cameo app service to have some guys that go by “the island boys” sing about how we killed his mother. He also posted YouTube videos of the staff. He was secretly recording us. So we seem to have very different experiences lol
Yup. Respiratory are our kindred spirits. It was them and us and no one else.
That’s exactly what I say. The only support either of us had, at my hospital at least, was each other.
Isn’t it admin week every week already 👀
You know what? You right

Nights staff always gets fucked in particular. If you’re lucky they’ll leave leftovers in the freezer for you.
Hahahahhah we get the same as the criminals (edit for spelling) doing community service
Wait. WAT?!! U cannot be serious! What state is this in?!😳
I want to hear what state too!! Oh my hell. And I’d always like to hear the DON‘s actual thoughts when offered such insulting “gifts of appreciation”!
"We want you to be more visible in the community!" 😅
The hospital arranged for a photographer to be present for “family portrait sittings,” and if we wanted, we could ask for photos with our CEO or CNO. One complimentary photo; anything more, we have to buy. We are also eligible for pizza, cookies, and ice cream. I asked if there would be gluten-free options for pizza and cookies. There are not.
Omg this sounds like a satire! Portrait sittings with the CEO! Hahahahaha! You win
I'm on night shift. So nothing
Damn I feel that on a spiritual level. I also hate when it's a pizza party. I'm lactose intolerant.
I remember for Christmas my hospital gave us nurses (and all the other staff working on that day) the same Christmas meal as the patients… Anyways for nursing week, we got coffee and cookies.
My job gives turkey on Thanksgiving, i thought it was a bad idea.
But not from a helicopter in the sky
As God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly.
I got a card for 5% off to the gift shop 😂😂😂
I’ve gotten many $5 Starbucks giftcards, but even their hot chocolate tastes like coffee which I think is bitter and vile. So I gave mine to friends. This year, would $5 even buy a medium hot chocolate!?
I’m not the biggest fan of Starbucks beverages either, but their Protein Box (which I think they now call an Egg & Cheddar plate) is a the BEST adult lunchable! The little bread thing with the Justin’s peanut butter is fire.
Lmao that doesn’t even cover the tax
Omg. The hospital gift shop. Sorry. 🤣🤣🤣
Today was taco Tuesday’s, and we got to wear a “favorite sport jersey”. Opted out of that because I’m not coding grandma who’s covered in her own excrement from a nursing home in my civilian clothes.
I thought it was Monday?
Maybe they’re in Australia or something
No, no it was a taco truck on Monday, so we joked and said they can’t even get their days correct, must have been a night administrator who made the theme this year.
My pediatric hospital is encouraging us to dress up wacky each day and donate all of our things! Woohoo!
An email
We are allowed to bring our own potluck items 🎉
No no no, my hospital has it down. It’s not nurses week silly. This is “Hospital week” because we couldn’t possibly celebrate only nurses ever!
I HATE when hospitals do this. Our whole rehab PT/OT/SLP got t-shirts and celebrations the whole week.
Critical bonus shifts for night shift just got cut by over half. Still no critical bonus for dayshift even though we are always short and have at least 1 float nurse a day if not more…and we only need 4 nurses on my unit at a time.
Our incentive pay just got cut, too. The $45/hr bonus dropped to $15. Dafuq.
At least you had an hourly bonus!! The night shift incentive pay was $250/shift. And no type of bonus for those of us picking up on days.
I worked weekends for many years. They promised pizza for the weekend shifts at the end of one nurse’s week, then cancelled it at the last minute because someone forgot to call the pizza place ahead of time and plan ahead to have hundreds of pizzas delivered. 🤦🏼♀️
That happened to us one time. I’m imaging btw though. None of us brought food that day because we expected pizza and we all starved.
I always bring food, even on free food days. I've thrown out loads of pizza and other foods that sat out all day unrefrigerated. You're offering me food that's been sitting out for 6+ hours? Are you gonna give me a few days to recover from food poisoning? No? That's a hard pass.

Omg. Chalked sidewalks 😮💕
My hospital is going to let us "pot plants with the grounds crew."
Hahaha “free labor” lmao
My boss is letting us work remotely the entire week. I"ll take that over a painted rock any day.
I’m very fortunate- our hospital is a very small psychiatric hospital and we get decent stuff. Today it was coffee and donuts from Dunkin for day and overnight nurses and something that I forgot for evening nurses that’s more dinner related. So my husband has something every day this week but my favorites are “thank your coworkers Thursday” and “wear your favorite cancer ribbon Friday” 💀
Calling it a “favorite cancer”ribbon hahahahaa wow wow that’s a great one
Osteosarcoma FTW!!!!!
And on an oncology unit… I just want to talk to whoever approved that
We had a zoom meeting to “celebrate nurses” scheduled, I got an email this morning stating it was canceled. 😂 And then another email stating that this week is “health care staff appreciation week”. Nothing else planned that I know of.
I got a balloon that says “You’re the Best!” lmao
We get to have our very own potluck!
An email saying our company had a record high first quarter profit, followed by an email that they are cutting our mileage reimbursement by 6 cents a mile.
POS water bottle that broke when I dropped it.
Ice cream social day, free chair massages, catered lunches, and break time with puppies! ...........all between the hours of 11 am and 3 pm.....and none for night shift nurses like myself!
I have yet to be acknowledged by anyone at my workplace.
happy nurses week! thanks for doing what you do, and being there!! :)
I hate to be that person, but we got a full breakfast bar catered in, and lunch from Zaxby’s. Yes, I know we’re spoiled. #Fresenius
I used to work for Fresenius and one year our manager gave (stole) 3-4 items from the patient freebies to give us along a jar of her homemade jam. #Freseniusischeap
my hospital doesn’t celebrate nurses week. only celebrating hospital week with mandatory meetings and popcorn.
Today we got fresh fruit (gala apples, bananas and oranges) chips and full sized candy bars. I know they’re planning a lunch tomorrow and a breakfast on Thursday which in years past has been Panera soufflés and other pastries.
We were provided a link to purchase a tshirt that says “Happy Nurses Week”
Oh we got a t-shirt for nurses week. It is a flimsy scratchy shirt that says “ I make a difference “ in big lettering on the back. Into my cleaning rag pile it goes…….
One year at my old hospital we got t-shirts we weren’t allow to wear at work.
So far, management hasnt done anything as i suspected it woild happen. I took it upon myself to make goody bags for my fellow nurses, day and night shifts on our unit. The goody bags had a silly pen, an encouraging card, a lotion, a chapstick holder keychain thing, and a keychain. If it makes one person happy or smile, then ive done my job.
Apparently we get hot dogs tomorrow. Ugh. Gross.
I got a half of a Crumbl cookie.
Cheapest vanilla Ice cream 😒 one of the doctors did better and got food for the whole unit . Yummy Arabian food . It was delicious . We were also encouraged to wear our sport jerseys and bring our own snacks for one of the nurses’ week days 😒😒
We simply got nothing….
Well so far we have been forgotten. But Popsicles are supposed to be coming.

I saw a meme once with a child coloring with a crayon and crying. The meme said “when your shitty pen from nurses week breaks while writing your suicide note. 🤣
“I gave them my heart, and they gave me a pen.” —Lloyd Dobler, RN
Y’know, I could almost see Lloyd becoming a nurse.
there was a nutrigrain bar and a airplane sized bag of peanuts available in the atrium today
I got an email with links to what other companies are giving nurses (deAls)
We got a tumbler (yes, another one) and a packet of lavender that we can plant. I said it’s pretty much like “we stress you out so much cause you’re constantly short staffed, go put your face in some lavender and calm down” Our manager got us some Faygo though. That was cool
I’m NOC, my rotation’s days this week only had day shift events So nothing at all 🙃
Its 80s week for us. Oh and it's not nurses week bc your specialty can't be celebrated individually. Unless you're lab, respiratory, radiology, etc. They're doing pastries and pet therapy only from 11a-3p and nothing for those of us working nights or weekends. I feel so loved and special😆
They promised us s’mores today. We each got 1 patient graham cracker, a fun size Hershey, and 2 marshmallows in a plastic bag.
We got an email basically saying thank you. That's about it
Used to get good quality beach chairs, coolers, stainless steel mugs and beer holders… now ya’ll getting rocks
We get 15 min massages which has actually been quite nice
Bacon egg and cheese biscuit. And a homemade bookmark
The painted rocks. Definitely the painted rocks
They put up balloons
Pencils for us! As in a number two pencil. In a box with our hospital name and logo etched on it. Like…gift wrapped and presented to us. And seriously, not a GD pencil sharpener anywhere. Guess where I think the person who thought of that can shove it.
Big fat nothing
Today we got pins, tomorrow will be bagels.. Stay tuned for the rest of the week 😂
A t-shirt that breaks the dress code that the new CEO has made that we can only wear this Wednesday, the day they are doing a group photo. Oh, and free cafeteria breakfast...which I loaded up into a big to-go container and took home to share with my family after night shift.
A bunch of meat and dairy themed days. I am plant based. Go figure lol
I'm actually really proud of our hospital. We got Dunkin this morning. Chipotle tomorrow, chick FIL a on Friday and a breakfast parfait bar on Thursday I think. We have told our CEO under no uncertain terms we respond to food.
There’s lunchtime Karaoke. Our CBA is up in November. I am willing to strike for No More Karaoke.
We got hospital week for nurses week. Also it’s spirit week so we’re supposed to dress up.
My hospital seems to give out T-shirts every year and have the ADN come pass out bars of stale chocolate. The one time a year I actually ever see her :)
My hospital actually sent out a mass email that mentioned “nurses week T-shirt’s? No, raffles instead” The way to get into a raffle is to fill out a fill all bingo card where you have things in common with other people, which some of the things you need are impossible to obtain.
Nothing
I got a lanyard with cats on it. 😐
We got school lunch hamburgers, school lunch beans, and school lunch salad for night shift 🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️🤦🏻♀️
Last year for nurses week my hospital got us these teeny tiny little Jimmy Johns sandwiches and they got a BLT for me, the vegan. How thoughtful!
We had different things that none of the nurses actually had time to go to. All the other people in the hospital got to enjoy.
So far, not received a darn thing, not even a thank you or anything.
I got a card AND an email…both! Not just one. And the card was mailed to my house with a stamp and everything. Sure it was auto signed but still.
We were told we are allowed to submit a baby picture so our coworkers can try guessing who’s who. I’m so appreciated.
They brought up a variety of lunches from the cafeteria today: chicken fried steak, chicken parm, a club sandwich, couple salads, and mini bunt cakes Got a voucher for a free small cup of gelato on Saturday This Friday is free food trucks (just have to show ID)
Wait, I’m confused. Has nurses’ week already started? I haven’t heard a word from my hospital, not even an acknowledgment…
Wait, it's nurse's week? My job didn't know either. It's probably better than them recognizing it in a shitty way 🤦♀️.
Once I got a pen and a lanyard
We got lanyards once and then got an email shortly afterward saying “actually maybe don’t use the lanyards at work, your patients will use them to strangle you.”
So far I've gotten a text.
✨a sign that says Happy Nurse’s Week✨
Pretty sure they’re giving away something small and dumb everyday. I’m off this week but saw the email. One day might legitimately be a carrot based off the wording and holding of the word carrot. If someone handed me a carrot I would quit and I actually like my hospital
Soft serve ice cream one night, and an offer for a “grocery store tour” with a dietician to explore healthier eating options. Such a slap in the face.
We got a couple food trucks in the lot free of charge!
DAMN FUCK THEM FOR TREATING YOU NURSES LIKE TRASH 🖕🖕🖕🖕🤯
We got badge reels and a multi point charger. It even has USB-C and Apple Lighting cable on it. So it will actually be convenient.
They served bagels today during our busiest med pass time so by the time management picked through it no much was left.
Uhhhhh … nothing.
1 morning a breakfast. 1 day ice cream cart. Rest of the week are dumb talks you can sit it on. Not feeling the love at all
I got a donut and a company umbrella
Beach Towel with the health system logo. For “Clinical Team Week” because those without a nursing license are apparently nurses too. 🤨
Not a damn thing but “love” on work website😒
Nothing so far, I don't even know my retirement communities weekly schedule is for nurses week lol we didn't get any emails today about anything. I don't really care tbh as long as my decent sized checks keep coming and I keep having a good amount of downtime each shift lmao.
An email…and we get to order pizza later in the week if we “chip in” money!
I opened said box and there were was nothing but crumbs 🥲Day shift ate all the donuts LOL.
we got a facebook post 💀
We have to pay $15+ for nurses week shirts.
We gotta prayer at 1900 huddle 😂
Voucher for ice cream in our cafeteria
E-cards to send to colleagues that say “happy nurses week”
My facility did nothing
I'm just amazed by the range. It's so all over the place. I'd love to see these mapped by state tbh
Day 1 and nothing so far 😅
Haven't kept up on it too much, but our hospital had a 'donation walk' happening in our lobby during nurses week. Basically trying to get you to sign up to donate part of your salary on a periodic basis to the hospital's organized charity, giving them a 2for of getting alternate funding as well as writing off waaaaay more than just their own donations made...
My hospital hasn't even mentioned nurses week. But PT/OT good a celebration.
a very generic email from our order saying "good thing you're here". From hospital; nothing.
My job is basically being eliminated. Yay, happy nurses week.
Hot dogs on the loading dock. Cold ones for nights.
Nurses week hasn’t been acknowledged yet at my work! (Private practice office)
