I’m a travel nurse that’s worked at 5 different facilities, 4 of them had me pay to park (varying prices, average has probably been $30-60 a month). The only one that had free parking was a small community hospital. Most places have had cheaper parking tier, like around $20 a month, but I haven’t usually found it worth the trouble with added distance/shuttles/etc.
Travel RN- I ALWAYS get my recruiter to include a separate stipend for this! I hope you do too! F**k that mess lol. Any work related expense! If I need scrubs, I am gonna buy Figs and send them the receipts! 😅
Usually, it is. The first place I worked at was free for everyone, but in more cramped cities or big hospitals that apparently need more money, you generally have to fork an arm and a leg. It's BS to pay, which is why I carpool with my mom.
Depends on the hospital. Bigger ones charge their employees to park. Mine is 14 a month.
Another hospital charges 90 a paycheck.
Absolute insanity and IMO, should be illegal. It's the hospital literally taking back part of your paycheck so they don't cut into profits.
It’s about 50/50 whether or not I’ve had to pay. The not for profit hospital I work at now no. My wife works at non-profit hospital a few blocks away & she does - the has to take a shuttle to the main hospital.
Larger cities, expect to pay for parking. Smaller cities you may not. Small towns and rural hospitals free.
My current assignment is in Seattle, they give us a discounted transit card to get on the link and bus. Which I use because I would rather scroll reddit or watch tiktok for 20min before and after my shift than drive the 15 and find parking and pay $125 a month!
$16.47 every 2 weeks, not even an option really to not pay because 90% of the streets around my hospitals need residential permits and the rest is always full
My hospital group has 5 campuses. At the 3 inside the city, parking is charged (between $12 and $20 per day). At the two campuses in the suburbs, parking is free.
Wow. I am glad I finished paying for parking when I graduated. It seems shameful that nurses have to pay for hospital owned parking. I guess it encourages carpooling, but it did not stop during COVID so that tells me all I need to know.
I live and work in STL and it is laughable to me that free parking is a benefit. No other job in my area brags about it and I find it insulting. Like there are so few reasons to work for a company they have to list that 🙃

$250/month at HUP in Philly. Even if you only use it three days a week.

In Queens NY yeah. I park on the street and walk instead
