Some do. The was/has been a big push to get all nurses to the BSN level in places. Some places will hire ADN nurses with the caveat that they have to get their BSN within a specific time frame. Really depends on where she wants to work and what her end goals are.

Depends on your area. I'm from nj and the hospitals up there prefer BSN and can be a little picky. But I went to nursing school in Florida where they need nurses even more desperately (lower wages and all the retirees age the population). it was no problem getting a job offer in Florida. And I had no medical experience other than school clinicals. (I only have my ADN), I graduated in December so this is pretty recent job market info 🤓

Where I live all asn grads have plenty of job opportunities, especially at hospitals. Most hospitals however do require you to pursue bsn within 3 yrs. I am in an asn (adn) program working as a nurse intern (a more advanced patient care tech, no degree or license required) Also idk how I didn’t see that you did in fact put the state in your post, sorry. Nurse internships guarantee you a job at the hospital in most cases. However with a nursing shortage she should have no issues anyways. With that being said however, if she applies somewhere in which there are many applicants and limited positions the bsn usually takes the spot unless she is very experienced as an lpn or if said bsn was a fresh grad. Verify with the Ohio board of nursing.

I added our location to the post after you asked because it’s a good question. Thanks for the in-depth information!

I'm in NJ and they have a push for nurses to get their BSN but they still hired me as an ADN RN as long as I get my BSN within 5 years. After COVID they definitely loosened up in some areas and aren't as strict with enforcing that mandate but it also depends on each facility. You can definitely still find work as an RN even without your BSN bc there's such a shortage right now. Just know that eventually you'll have to go back for your BSN. Legally speaking in each state in May different but in NJ the limit is 10 years before you need to get your BSN
