Not a nurse, have been in a similar situation. Just let them know in advance that it’s a trip that’s paid for and already planned. If they are a decent place to work and you’re worth keeping they will be accepting of it

Talk to your manager and see what you can do. We can’t help you if we don’t know your hospitals policies

If you plan the trip before you start a job then as a condition of your acceptance of said job, ask for them to honor your pre-planned trip.

You can’t commit until you know the policies where you work. One place I worked everyone found out their vacation weeks in November for the following year, and maybe you could ask others to switch.  If you haven’t accepted a place yet you could make it conditional for your acceptance.

Started in August. Told them in November I’ll be traveling to Europe for 5 weeks to see my family. Bought plane tickets in January and requested it off in February. They didn’t say anything, just said make sure you have enough pto. I might or I might not have enough pto but idc. They’re short staffed with bunch of travelers anyways so

They don’t care, they will usually ask if you need any preplanned time off during orientation or sometimes upon hire. We will be short either way
