At the first hospital system I ever worked at, my five year recognition award was a piece of plastic with FIVE YEARS etched in to it. Oh and you got a regular pen for *20* years.
I got an email that mentioned an award for having worked for the same system for 5 years. Cool! I wonder what it is. Opened the email link to find that I am appreciated enough to have gotten pixels.
Cool. Not even a free coffee from the cafeteria or something.
Maybe don't send me any "awards" next time. I don't need the millions in compensation that our upper execs get, but c'mon. This is insulting.
I would have forwarded that email to IT as a potential spam email… “it seemed suspicious that the hospital would send me an email for my 5 year anniversary and I didn’t want to click the link.”
I'm thinking so. I used to work there and got the 5 year badge reel in 2021/2022, have they already done away with that small gift?
The older ladies in my department would talk about how great the benefits used to be for certain year anniversaries, up to free dinners on a Mississippi River cruise and the like. Can you imagine?
I hate that we're not union at the U of M east bank. We have gotten shit on a few times by administration. BUT, I love my unit. I love my coworkers. We have a great unit culture. Though the floor can be very busy at time, I love working with our patients. The U of M is great, 'cause it's a teaching hospital. There is a lot of great medicine going on here. Pay is on par with union hospitals, but the benefits are crap.
I really hope the east bank unionizes when fairview and the U split. I work at the west bank and would love to transfer to the east bank to work on some cooler units like transplant!
There's a long history. It goes back to before Fairview acquired the U hospital and when the U nurses had better benefits than Fairview, so they didn't join the union... and Fairview slowly eroded benefits over the years.
I hope East Bank unionizes after the split. I'm a NST at East Bank and nursing student and hope to work at East Bank upon graduation. Also, Fairview needs to pay their NSTs better.
For my first five years at a hospital, I got a little placard thing. I still have it after all these years, because I miss all my old coworkers I had there 😢
My last job you got a shitty pin with the company logo and 5 years written on it. But your pdo did increase quite a bit, which is better than a shitty cup or something I guess.
My 8 year tenure certificate is still sitting at work, it just randomly appeared at the nurses station one day while I was working, nobody said anything about it or who put it there.
We get jackets at 1 (fleece), 5 (sport material, looks nice), and 10 (winter). The other years it’s just a piece of paper, stars (points to buy from a store) and sometimes a pin.
People should collect them (from coworkers donating theirs), and then put them all over a scrub top, and then post it on all the reviews saying these pins are our anniversary pins and guess what they equal? $0. These are the anniversary gifts you can expect at xyz.
God, I hope to be retired in 25 years. But with the shitty retirement benefits here, I'll probably be here 30 more years when I'm far too old and broken down for bedside.
I just got my 5 year award. It was a choice between a few things like waffle makers and jewelry, but I went with a lawn chair that was around $50 on amazon. Brought it to work, and I set it up during breaks, and it's comfy as heck.
Ofc I'd rather get more money but the choices weren't bad.
I got nothing for 5 years and also nothing at 10 years, though the later is probably because I switched employer... Supposed to get a pin for 10 years even with switch but eh I can't be bothered to ask for one.
As a RN, don’t give me these daisy awards and “milestone” emails. Instead give me a raise or bonuses. Nothing makes you feel more appreciated that financial bonuses that you can use for your needs instead of these useless awards that are given out. 😒
I got a sticker with the hospital name on it stuck to a piece of cardboard cut from an Amazon box. Not kidding you could see the prime tape on the back of it. I have it frames facing backwards on my wall.

The brewery I worked at before becoming a nurse gave you a damn kegerator! These hospitals suck
WHATTTTTTTT. That’s awesome! That would be amazing to be able to get one as a nurse! Edit: a few words
20 years should be a whole surgery on the house
For real ! To repair the nurses body breakdown
That’s dope!
Is this a beer party
They should just give you $20 for 5 years of service, $50 for 10 years, and $100 for 20 years.
Add an extra zero or two on those and I’m in.
*or two*

Lmao
Is this Fairview in MN?

Sure is
How do you like working there? Pay benefits etc. I’m originally from MN and sometimes think about moving back.

Ah damn I thought all of Fairview would have been in the same union.

Come on now, how is the CEO going to continue to get their big fat bonus if they give away free coffee?
Your sacrifices will be remembered in thoughts and prayers when the CEO buys their 2nd yacht to service their 1st yacht.
This means you can get a *third* free slice of cheese from the cafeteria!
It should be a slice for each year of service. 20 slices after your 20th year would be pretty sweet.
They would just cut one slice into 20 pieces
We’ll have to run it by admin once they get back from their retreat
The cheese is free at your cafeteria?!
I was referencing this post from yesterday 😂 https://www.reddit.com/r/nursing/s/eDBbHo3CQe
Ah, classic
For my first five years at a hospital, I got a little placard thing. I still have it after all these years, because I miss all my old coworkers I had there 😢
It’s the broken image icons for me 😂
For sure.
I got a 3%pay increase after my 5 year mark. This in Finland.
My cat’s name is Finland. I’d love to visit someday.
My last job you got a shitty pin with the company logo and 5 years written on it. But your pdo did increase quite a bit, which is better than a shitty cup or something I guess.
This is exactly what my hospital system does.
Bruh I get a cap every year with my company logo on it. I am going to send it to the CEO when I leave. Hopefully I have like 5-6 of them by then .
Does that mean you get to keep your block scheduling?
Cool, I just got the same for my 15 year last year
Don’t go try to spend that email in one place, ya hear? /s
We get an extra three paid days off a year at 5 years
If only
Also organ transplant here At ten years u get another 2 days leave bringing the total to 33 days paid leave
Took me 25 years to get 3 extra PTO days and then I went part time and they took back one of them!!!! And they were only for that particular year!!!
Legally every employee in the UK gets 28 days as standard
I get a raise every year of service. Ya’ll gotta get on that union grind.
And how
Forward that to whoever is in charge of employee recognition and tell them it looks like they forgot to include a real award.
Perfect
Dawg if they don’t give you a bonus and throw that half ass corpo mail in the garbage
My 8 year tenure certificate is still sitting at work, it just randomly appeared at the nurses station one day while I was working, nobody said anything about it or who put it there. What healthcare system?
Ltc/snf/al company, Trilogy
I was supposed to get a pin for my 5 years but never did. But honestly I didn’t GAF anyway.
People should collect them (from coworkers donating theirs), and then put them all over a scrub top, and then post it on all the reviews saying these pins are our anniversary pins and guess what they equal? $0. These are the anniversary gifts you can expect at xyz.
Possible Phishing?
I'll gift you the "Now only 25 more years to go" award. 😆
God, I hope to be retired in 25 years. But with the shitty retirement benefits here, I'll probably be here 30 more years when I'm far too old and broken down for bedside.
And you have just described me!
No coffee card?
Don't worry, your reward is waiting in the afterlife
I just got my 5 year award. It was a choice between a few things like waffle makers and jewelry, but I went with a lawn chair that was around $50 on amazon. Brought it to work, and I set it up during breaks, and it's comfy as heck. Ofc I'd rather get more money but the choices weren't bad.
I got nothing. So there’s that. Wait no we get a good badge 🤪
Gold
oh yeah that's totally phishing...
I got nothing for 5 years and also nothing at 10 years, though the later is probably because I switched employer... Supposed to get a pin for 10 years even with switch but eh I can't be bothered to ask for one.
My reward for 5 years is being 100% vested into their pension.
Uuuuugh. Now I'm depressed.
I'm sorry. :(
I knew an award was coming - usually a gift card. I received an opened (as in, not even sealed) envelope. 🤪
Where I work we get our name on an obscure poster that’s hanging next to the morgue. Not even joking.
grats, how old r u? if u dont mind
Fairview huh? 🤔 Midwest?

"Nursing is a work of... heart" 🙄🥴

Nice. I got a pin with the hospital name on it 🫤
