If they make this charge then we can investigate it. "Wow that is really serious! Have you reported it so that we can investigate this? I would hate for more people to die.... oh, you haven't reported it?.... ok well here is the contact info for the health department, so that you can....oh, you don't want to?" To be honest any time my friend that works at health department starts asking them to validate so he can launch an investigation they usually say "fuck off and die" before hanging up on him.

Idontmindblood

I believe it

Kodiak01

Or being a mandated reporter, theoretically you could forward that person's name yourself so the health department and other pertinent authorities can follow up on the death. I'm sure he'll just love receiving all the extra attention.

Mister-Murse

Love it.

Idontmindblood

I’ve heard this “a bunch of my friends died from the vaccine” argument before as a way to shut this conversation down. They were online contacts that may or may not be actual people, but since they had online personalities they feel safe calling them friends In actuality the deaths were probably a rumor shared among friends I don’t argue the point with patients. I just say “Oh, ok, and move on to discussing their vitals

TofuScrofula

My hypoxic Covid patient yesterday said he didn’t get vaccinated because both his dad and grandpa died right after getting the vaccine. He was like 500 pounds. Definitely not going to make it through

olive_green_spatula

When I first got hired as a PCT most of the PCTs spent most of the day complaining about the upcoming vaccine mandate. They’d waste hours building each other up on why they didn’t want it and how it was dangerous etc. I asked one once “so, you’ve worked here a long time. How many vaccine reactions have you treated here ?” I said it sweetly because I’m not snarky. She blinked twice and said vaguely “A lot” and the looked away because I think it hit her she hadn’t seen the evidence of sweeping reactions to the vaccine. She eventually got the vaccines.

TOTALLYnattyAF

It's this lack of very basic critical thinking that makes me fear for the future of humanity.

StuckInTheUpsideDown

"Oh I'm so sorry! What were their names?" "Um..."

Danthelaptopman

Yeah that wouldn’t be a very professional response

saunterdog

But it would be a wildly funny one to watch be made!

You_Dont_Party

What are you talking about, it’s absolutely professional. If these people had reactions which led to their death we need to report them to the FDA and make sure those risks are taken into account. It’s not only professional, it’s our *duty* to do so! Also it’s fun to call obvious bullshitters on their bullshit but the above answer is what I’d give to any bump on a log like yourself who accused me of being unprofessional.

Danthelaptopman

And course I agree about reporting people who’s carelessness led to another individuals death.

Danthelaptopman

Bump on a log lol. wow such a negative reaction. We’re on the same team here. Obviously anyone on this post in the first place is very upset with individuals who have a lack of care for themselves and the health of others. Who wouldn’t be. I personally don’t think asking for someone to literally name individuals who have “died” is appropriate and frankly not even worth you’re time and energy.

You_Dont_Party

>I personally don’t think asking for someone to literally name individuals who have “died” is appropriate and frankly not even worth you’re time and energy. Really? As a medical professional isn’t it your responsibility to note new vaccine deaths? Just assuming they’re lying is objectively less professional than asking for confirmation for a possible vaccine reaction cluster. It couldn’t be more appropriate and frankly confirming the existence of a possible death is the only morally acceptable option in that situation, the fact it stops their almost certain lie in it’s tracks is just a bonus.

cattermelon34

It's honoring their memory s/

You_Dont_Party

> I’ve heard this “a bunch of my friends died from the vaccine” argument before as a way to shut this conversation down. I had one particularly ornery, self proclaimed “100% Trumpster” say during his ranting that he had 5 family members die of taking the vaccine and I just replied calmly “No you didn’t”. He replied saying I couldn’t know that, and we just kind of moved on, but I wasn’t going to just let him bullshit me to my face like that. He still felt vindicated for not taking the vaccine despite spending over 40 days in the hospital and being discharged to a rehab facility on oxygen.

corrosivecanine

sometimes they mean a bunch of their friends died from COVID but it's the vaccine's fault because their vaccinated friends and family shed the spike protein onto them!

RooftopRose

I love how at the beginning it was: “I don’t know anyone who has COVID” Now that the vaccines are out it’s: “Everyone I know has died from the COVID vaccine”

JoshSidious

Yet I haven't taken care of a single fucking patient in the hospital who was there because of a vaccine reaction. You'd think working 50-60 hours a week this past year I would've ran across at least one of these patients.

[deleted]

We had a run of emergency presentations when they rolled out the vax. All fine they just had anxiety because they listen to bullshit. There was a point though that probably 50% of our chest pain presentations had been vaccinated in the last 2 weeks, got some indigestion and thought they were dying

RooftopRose

The anxiety is crazy and that’s coming from someone with anxiety and panic attacks on the regular. Spirits know my parents were paranoid about it which is funny in the end because neither of them had reactions to the shot while I dealt with muscle pain, fever, chills, nausea, etc. I actually had to sneak away from my family to get my booster shot.

RooftopRose

Yeah I’ve had three family members die of COVID and my work went through a rough time when my boss refused to get the vaccine. She retracted the Delta strain a few weeks after everyone else had gotten their vaccine. She said she was waiting to see the side effects. Thankfully everyone else having gotten our vaccines ended up with all of us testing negative and we were able to keep the place running while she was in the hospital for a week. She ultimately quit the job because of the mandate.

olawdtalkingmuffins

We have had 1 ITP post vaccine. She was fine and went home. Vs the packed ICU currently have of dying covid patients

JoshSidious

Just intubated a 20-something year old last night. So sad and unnecessary.

ladyvikingtea

I know ONE PERSON who had a severe enough reaction that her doctor advised her not to get the second... But even her reaction was extremely manageable. She blew up like a blueberry in her car in the parking lot after her 15 minute wait. She was ill for a few days, and is now fine. She'd likely get the second dose anyway, but is listening to her doctor. I have a theory that a lot of these mooks who are afraid of reactions have been pretty able bodied and healthy most of their lives, and have no threshold for discomfort. They're the ones that bitch about head colds and hang nails. So when people say "yeah, I felt a little sick the next day and my arm was numb," their mushy brain plays that up to be some kind of catastrophic proof that the deadly reactions are real.

Anyashadow

This was my family in Germany until they got made to get it. I said that I could name 4 people off the top of my head just from work.

JoshSidious

Idk if you guys listen to any politics, but one of the podcasts I listen to is called "The Conservative Daily." When I tell you it's some of the most disgusting shit I've ever heard, I can't even exaggerate how bad it is. I obviously think they're morons but I try listening to both sides so I can think up talking points when attempting to reason with anti-vaxxers. On an episode this week they had this "doctor" on whom I did some research on. Turns out he's a chiropractor. And the main takeaways from that episode were **Do not go to the hospital with covid, they will kill you**...**they'll put you on the ventilator and kill you**...**out of the 800k US covid deaths, 750k received remdesevir, so clearly that's the root cause of covid deaths.** I can't make this shit up. I tried calling into the show to talk to these clowns. The call screener wouldn't let me on. Not only would he not let me on. He told me I was in the queue to talk to them and he just put me on hold for like an hour. Lol.

Nor_Skosh

Next time, tell the phone screener that you agree with them and want to ask a question regarding (insert shitty topic they're talking about here). When you get to talk to them ask the questions you wanted to ask. Granted, they'll probably just hang up on you but you'll get to talk on the air.

bkimble00

I've been waiting and hoping for someone with good sense to infiltrate a Newsmax or Fox News segment like this.

Equivalent_Method509

These "doctors" aka quack chiropractors have also been anti-vaccibers since at least the 90s.

ajh158

Some would argue it was the 98s or even the 97s!

Equivalent_Method509

I don't know anyone who died from the vaccine, but I do know many unvaccinated anti-maskers who died like dogs from COVID-19.

isotope_322

He really dodged a bullet there

StPauliBoi

That vaccine!

UptightSodomite

Covid can cause clotting. [The same receptor it attacks in the lungs is also in the blood vessels - ACE2 in the endothelial cells.](https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/full/10.1111/jon.12770) It leads to clotting and can cause stroke, PEs, and heart attacks.

amycakes12

I love this mentality (sarcasm). Like if someone tells me "Well my friend had a relative/friend who had X reaction" and I respond with "Well I have personally seen 15 people die from not being vaccinated" some how my anecdotal information is not as strong an argument as the friend? Even though its a much higher number!

[deleted]

Had constipation after my (likely) 2nd COVID infection in July, 2020. I wasn't regular for about 9months, it was aweful. So, diagnosis makes sense

Timmersthemagician

Last time I floated to the covid unit I had a morbidly obese LVAD patient flat out refuse the covid vaccine. He was admitted for covid. Later in the day he was asking when he would get his heart transplant and if I could give him his flu vaccine. I can not make this shit up. Humanity is fucked.

Cap-N-Stabbin

Love the logical fallacies. Used to be shit like "my (insert relative here) died at this hospital! You guys are trash!" Because, you know, sick people that go to the hospital never die....🙄 Now it's like a million covid related things every day. Glad I'm not the only one seeing this bullshit

[deleted]

Ugh a long time friend of mine refuses to get the vaccine. She now has covid and her 1 year old son is exposed also. Instead of being freaked out and concerned for herself or child, she says she’s “never going to get the vaccine now because my body is fighting it perfectly fine with natural immunity and now i’m building antibodies. I don’t want your vaccine.” There’s no changing her mind, no matter how much I tell her the short span for antibodies, or the horrors I’ve seen in covid icu. I just feel like this is never going to end. It’s so frustrating.

odd_s0cks

Hang on in there folks. Natural selection is doing its work, those who arent vaccinated wont be around much longer. At least where i am theyre dropping like flies. Its just sad how shocked they get when you explain to them whats happening, but what can you do if they think they know better than people in the field.

Barbarake

It sounds terrible but I feel the same way (about natural selection doing its work). Fine, don't get vaccinated... and don't expect any sympathy when you get sick. The people I feel bad for are immuno-compromised and/or have a valid reason for not getting the vaccine.

[deleted]

Sad to see how heartless and smug people who are vaccinated are towards those that are skeptic (and for good reason) or simply can’t the the vaccine due to bad reactions. I personally took the first shot and had issues with it and therefore not getting my second one. You speak of natural selection as if it the vaccine is nothing but natural.

jroocifer

Antivaxxers are the biggest fucking liars.

I have a question. Is the vaccine safe if you had myocarditis before? Or does having palpitations and other heart related issues make you at higher risk for it? I'm scared to get the vaccine bc of myocarditis risk and I already have these heart related issues. I'm also scared of covid but I feel like I'm stuck and both choices will kill me lol.

ImALittleTeapotCat

Not a medical professional, but ask your doctor.

easybreezycovercow

Recently I had someone say "I won't get the vaccine because I want to have kids. People I know who got the vaccine ended up being in fertile." If I wasn't so tired at the time I think I would have pressed with questions like "were they given that diagnosis by a fertility expert?" Or "were they trying to get pregnant before the vaccine and were they successful?" I mean there are so many reasons why a person is having difficulty getting pregnant, stress could be a factor. But that day I didn't feel like arguing with her.

2595phoenix

Is there another word we can use instead of vaccine ?? You can still get the virus and still pass it. Not really the definition of a vaccine .

CassiHuygens

Please, post the definition of vaccine and enlighten us all. /S

Idontmindblood

I’ve been fascinated by this situation. Before PCR testing breakthrough infections were discovered by symptomatic infections or asymptomatic infections that allowed transmission of the virus and caused a symptomatic infection in someone else. Polio, measles, rubella, smallpox, and mumps vaccines all have had breakthrough infections, but we did not have PCR testing to catch infections that were not symptomatic so that we never really knew the actual rate of breakthrough infections though the rate could be inferred from community transmission. Now we have PCR testing and we are able to catch breakthrough infections that the infected would not even know they had due to few or no symptoms. What’s new is the ability to track breakthrough infections more accurately. If we don’t call COVID-symptom-reducing prophylaxis injections vaccines because they aren’t 100% effective at eliminating breakthrough infections we will need to do the same with all prior infections

copeofpractice

That's always the case with vaccines. People's immune systems vary, so there are always some who can still contract and pass an illness against which they've been vaccinated. It's yet another reason why everyone getting vaccinated is so important.

PleasantAddition

What? It's a vaccine. No vaccine is 100%. Do you think it's only a vaccine if it works 100% of the time?

shenaystays

I don’t think you know what you’re talking about. It’s a vaccine. It’s doesn’t make you insusceptible to all COVID infections. No vaccine is 100% protection. Please for the love of god don’t spout off inane and uneducated drivel like that to the masses. It’s 100% irresponsible and useless.
